Had two awesome arepas today. I've tried to make them myself, and I was chatting up main man about the the flour he uses (Harina PAN) and how I have a hard time finding it, and he gave me a bag on the house. That was rad, and the food was tops, as always.

LOVE.  Great vegetarian and vegan options.  I try to find out where they are, hope they're at a tap room, and go!

The only two things I've tried (since I don't eat meat) are the Original: sweet plantains, black beans, and avocado, and the Domino: black beans and cheese.  The arepas always seem a little small when I first get it in my hands, but they're so filling; it's the perfect size for me.  And sometimes, if I just want a snack, I split it with a friend.  Very authentic cuisine.  So tasty!

I am currently crazy for the gorgeous honogos: sauteed mushrooms in a light tomato sauce with the tangy background flavors of the awesome guasecaca.  Meltingly perfect in the crisp-fluffy arepa, though definitely very messy.  Get extra napkins.

What a great idea and the Arepas are just like the homemade ones that my friends from Venezuela make!

Love the fresh ingredients and that they're made-to-order too!!

I love this truck, really, I do. The couple running it is great. They make their arepas fresh on the truck and offer various filling options. This may be the best (is it the only?) arepas Colorado has to offer, but I've had some from Caracas Arepas Bar in NY and those are in another league. So much more flavorful. I get shivers just thinking about their Los Muchachos. I've never had one in Venezuela though, so I can't say which is more authentic. Being in Colorado, I'm happy with what this truck is churning out; however, if I had both options side by side, I know which one I'm reaching for.

My husband and I happened along their truck at Winterfest last night, and I'm so glad we did! We got the salmon and avocado arepa, which was outstanding. Just the right blend of flavors, crunchy on the outside and really stuffed with fresh wonderful ingredients. I can't wait to try some of their other selections. As an added bonus, the owners were lovely and friendly people. Now if I can just figure out a scheme to get them to park outside my home...

Venezuelan Inspired Cuisine...  I hear you...  Quiero Arepas Food Truck, I want to like you BUT NOT as yet to be a FAN, hence this 3 star review.  Ate the Reina Pepiada ($8).  This Reina Pepiada consists of shredded chicken breast, avocado and a citrus-avocado dressing.  Yes, its creamy due to the Avocado and the "tang" of the Citrus Avocado Dressing, but I so wish, there are more flavor to the Shredded Chicken Breast they put in the Reina Pepiada.

Yes to some for a ($8) Arepa, its huge but it did NOT WOW me as much as I want it to be.  Perhaps for a ($8) Arepas can be over-priced aka Pricey to some.  Oh well...  Perhaps I should try other stuffs of what Quiero Arepas can offer some other time when I can get hold of Quiero Arepas Food Truck in town.  JLSF event June 30th 2012.

Feedback from a couple of my foodie friends, they prefer the Pork/Ham Arepas better than the Reina Pepiada Arepas...  By the way the Pork/Ham Arepas is known as La Havana Arepas which consists of slow roasted pork, ham, swiss cheese, house made pickles and "havana sauce".

There's a reason this food truck always has the longest line in Civic Center Park: their arepas are fantastic!  Try the Original/Vegan, which is served hot with black beans, plantains, and fresh avacado in a grilled corn-based flat bread (has the consistency of an english muffin).  My man-friend likes the Pabellon (similar recipe with plaintains and stewed, shredded beef).  The refrescos are also tasty - a light, naturally sweet and freshing fruity alternative to soda.  And don't the line scare you off - it moves fast!

Seriously, if you see this truck, you absolutely need to eat here. Even if you aren't hungry. Full disclosure, I knew Igor prior to the truck's existence and got to have delicious homemade Venezuelan food (usually arepas) made for me more than once, and it was always great, so I had an idea of what to expect when I visited him and his wife on their food truck - that being said, I can't tell you how awesome the food is - there are definitely some arepas options on the menu that I've never tried, but I will be tracking their truck down as often as I can to try the other menu options soon. My highest recommendations go to Quiero Arepas. Don't miss out when you see them!

Did not care for it. Had the Langostino Ceviche Arepa at a food truck event, maybe it was not the best representation of their food. It tasted very commercial, like mass produced. And the ceviche juice wouldn't stop dripping from the foil package! I've had much tastier marinated seafood before, theirs just don't go with the cornmeal pancakes very well. Maybe if I had ordered shreded pork or some other more flavor intense meat.... Sorry

GLUTEN FREE TOP 5 STOP IN DENVER, and who would have thought a top 5 candidate would come from a food truck, but great taste does not discriminate. Tip 1: They have the claim to fame to be the first truck in the U.S. to be dedicated gluten free so the regular fear of cross contamination delightfully goes out the window!  Tip 2: Avoid the beef until your second or third visit, I'll explain.  I know most people will love this place so if you like pork have the La Havana, if you like chicken then have the chicken you can't go wrong with either.  However I say avoid the beef on your first visit because as for while its not bad tasting it will not be one the favorites bringing you back day after day like the others, basically you won't be addicted. haha  There is almost always a long line for their truck but its worth the wait so give yourself a little extra time.  The staff is super nice and if you eat there as much as I do don't be surprised if they remember your name...  They remember mine. :)

I was blown away. Not by exhaust or inner-truck-kitchen-fumes or grill smoke or anything like that.

By the food! The wonderful glorious truck-food.

Confession, at the same time as I had never heard of an Arepas, I had also never actually eaten from an American Food Truck. I spent some time in the Philippines and Vietnam in 2011, and was brave (ballsy? stupid?) enough to sample mobile goodies in those countries (and no, I do not mean cat and dog -- you know, mobile?) but had never done so here in Les Etats Unis.

The people working the truck; Friendly, smiley, polite, fun, conversational.
The Food: Truly, to give justice to my actual feelings about the food, I can't use words. I basically just have to use a series of guttural urges that indicate complete and utter satisfaction.
The Aftermath: You know how you feel after you meet someone new, and you're like "oh my crap this person is unbelievable" and you've just kissed them for the first time and when you're walking away from them you're sort of 3 feet off the ground and all you can think about is how amazing it's going to be for a while? Yeah that. I sat on the patio of a brewery that rarely does what it's told, and had Arepas Afterglow -- which honestly should be the name of a dessert Arepas.

I've only had their Pabellon thus far, with stewed, shredded beef, black beans, mozz, and just the perfect amount of sweet plantains to make your knees a little wobbly. All in a corn tortilla pocket sort of thing. It's unbelievable. I cannot cannot cannot wait to have them again.

Stalk them. Do it. Right now. Go eat them for lunch.

    Well, not them. Their Arepas.

I'm a stalker of food trucks and I' officially a stalker of Quiero Arepas!

I decided to try them out at the last Justice League event and Cheryl L told me I had to try their Arepas, and off I went.

I ordered the La Havana Arepa that had slow roasted pork, ham, swiss cheese, house made pickles, and havana sauce.  The Arepa was humungus!  Stuffed with enough pork to feed a small family, thick sliced ham, cheese, and the havana sauce was out of this world.  It was like a mix of mustard and mayo and pickles gave it the tang it needed.  Almost like a Cubano sandwich, very yummy.

I can't wait to find them again and try a different Arepa.  Once you go Arepa you'll never go back.

I work on a food truck, so when our truck is at an event where many food trucks gather, I'm always excited to see a new one and try the food. Quiero arepas is my new fave! I'm quite sure that anytime I see these guys, I will be forced to stop and eat. The vegan is awesome. I didn't miss meat even one tiny bit.

I visited this truck at a Justice League of Street Food event, and I was pleased.  They offered three different arepas on this day, all of which sounded very good.  I went with La Havana, with pork, ham, cheese and avocado-based sauce.  Good call.  They're basically pita-type rounds of grilled Venezuelan bread stuffed with the appropriate filling, and although they seemed a bit overpriced ($8), the one I tried definitely made me want to get the other two.  Then I checked their website and found their entire menu, and there are at least five more I want to try!  I'll look for them again wherever food trucks appear.  Any chance of an actual restaurant sometime?

Holy Yum!  I havn't had a good sandwich since I went gluten-free in October.  I had one at the G'Knight festival in Longmont last weekend.  The Havana.  Pork yumminess in a way that is just indescribable delicious.   Can we get a second truck somewhere in Boulder on a daily basis, please?

    Arepita, I'm in love.

I've been a big fan of Quiero Arepas -- the food as much as the crew of the truck -- for a couple of years now. I originally tried them at a farmers' market because they were one of the only gluten-free options and now I look for the truck on a weekly basis to get my fix. I've had the original, reina pepiada, pabellon and a few bites of the el caribe and everything is always so fresh and delicious. You can't go wrong with anything you get and I can always eat without worry because they have a certified gluten-free kitchen.

Beckie and Igor are such wonderful people and I would highly recommend supporting them if you see them out on the town. I wish them so much success and I look forward to continuing eating my way through the menu.

What I had?  reina pepiada arepas (I think..)

Food review:  I have heard so much buzz about this place so I was excited to find out that they were going to be at the Denver Day of Rock this weekend.  I went up to the truck not having ever experienced arepas so I asked about which one I should go with.  I have to say I enjoyed arepas quite a bit.  You get a couple different flavors as you munch your way through.  Kind of started out savory and became sweet on the inside which interesting.  While I enjoyed the arepas I can't say I share the same enthusiasm.  I'll definitely be trying them again.

    Service? No complaints

You know how you try something and suddenly, a switch goes off and you can't even understand how you've lived your entire life without having a certain type of food?

That happened to me with arepas after I tried them here.

I've since had them at one other place, but this place is the shizzle. Plus, it's mobile! I love it when I come out of a building or bar famished only to be greeted with the Quiero Arepas truck.

    Day=made!

They have a wide variety of sammuches and the ones that I've tried have been out of this world. Also, having Square on their truck makes it easy for someone who never carries cash to get a meal from an awesome food truck and still pay with a credit card.

Next time you're out and happen to be lucky enough to stumble upon the Quiero Arepas food truck, make room in your stomach immediately, because you don't want to miss a meal from them!

Finally got to try the arepas last night at the Justice League of Street Food party - dee-friggin-licious! Had the Orignal (vegan with black beans, plantains, and avocado) and my friend had the Havana (think Cuban sandwich)- so tasty and just the right size to leave you satisfied .

I'll most definitely be tracking this truck down in the future!

My favorite food truck in Denver! I love their arepas! My only gripe is that clearly everyone else does too so sometimes the wait can be kind of lengthy. Seriously, go get one of them, any one of them, and bring your friends.

    YUM.

If you haven't tried Quiero Arepas....do yourself a favor: find the truck & eat an arepa. So good. My husband is a die hard meat eater and I'm a vegetarian -- we were both happy & satisfied. If you're finicky at all then the "scary" mix of plantains, avocado, black beans, etc...may be intimidating, but step outside the box and just do it. Drop the $6-10 - you won't regret it.

On a side note....the owners of the truck are friendly, real, and so down to earth. Support our local entrepreneurs! :)

The Holy Grail of cheesy, avocado-filled deliciousness.

One of my favorite food trucks in Denver (if not my absolute favorite), the owners are nice people who make each arepa to order and if you want to swap out any of the ingredients, they're super accommodating and won't charge an additional fee.

So, what is an arepa, and what should you expect?  It's like a big, pillow-y corn tortilla (like if a soft corn tortilla mated with Taco Bell's Gordita flatbread), which is split in half and hosts a bevy of tasty, fresh ingredients, including black beans, gooey cheese, avocado, and stewed meats.  I personally love the avocado and cheese combo, or avocado + chicken + cheese.  The diameter of the circular arepa is about 5 inches, so it's a pretty good size for medium-sized lunch or dinner, especially with each arepa being around $7.

I fell in love with Quiero Arepas at the Cherry Creek Farmers Market a few years ago before they started with the food truck.  Their arepas are DELICIOUS!!  Not only are they gluten free, but anything can be made vegan - always a bonus in my book.

The food is amazing quality, and very inexpensive.  The service is amazing, and the staff has always been wonderful and friendly!  You must try these guys out - they are the nicest people ever and the food really does ROCK.  My favorite arepas is the vegetarian one - fried plantains, cheese, avocado, and sauce.  MMMMM!!  :)

Yuuuuummmm! I had my first arepas today and it was simply delish. We had the breakfast one that was not on the official menu. Scrambled eggs with a kick, avocado and cheese in a tasty gluten free, cornmeal cake. You can also add kick with a spicy sauce which I will try next week!

$6 plus tax make sure to try one as soon as you can there are at least 8 -if not more- choices.

So I'm no expert on arepas (today I had my first one) but this was one tasty meal!  And reasonably priced, and served with a smile!  Yay!

My mom and I ran out to lunch... she tried to talk me into a lunch that didn't consist of food truck fare, but we were both quite happy with our choice.  I got the Vegan option, which has black beans, avocado, and sweet plantains sandwiched in a shell of roasted cornmeal.  I ordered, gave my name, and waited in the hot sun for a short time before my name was called and I was asked if I wanted "tangy or spicy?" referring to sauce that is added on top.  Being in an indecisive mood, I asked for a bit of each.  They were both good, but I think tangy is the way to go.  I literally licked the foil when some of the tangy dressing dripped off some beans.

My mom got one with smoked salmon and capers... I didn't think the flavors would mingle well with the type of cuisine, but she enjoyed it a lot and said the capers were just the right amount to offset the other flavors.  I didn't get to try it (she was either starving or it was THAT tasty... I believe the later)

Around $6-8 for a great meal.  I may have to return and try another flavor combo...

Handcrafted food, made by people who have lived with it and love it.  Simple, bold flavors, this is quintessential street food, nothing pretentious or over-produced by a culinary master from the CIA.   This, this is what street food is all about.  A simple meal, wrapped in foil, taken from the side of the street and appreciated.  I love Quiero Arepas (their new name, I think) and look forward to finding them all around the city this summer in their new truck.

Awesome. My friend Shelly told us the cart would be at the city park farmer's market this weekend, and being that we needed to buy a muskmellon (giggle) for a picnic, it all worked out and we had two delicious vegan arepe's (gluten free, too!). Fuginyummy. Black beans, corn, avocado, PLANTAIN and secret GUASACACA sauce. 6 bucks and totally filling. They have the yummy oogave organic soda's, too. Yay.

This food is AMAZING! We get the Vegan or the Queso arepa (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FArepa&s=e046240a4b88cf5c3ace21f10a04236d911d2002d96dce2052bd5e241ca78e24" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://en.wikipedia.org/…</a>) and they are absolutely phenomenal. They are little Venezuelan sandwich like creations unlike anything you've ever tasted. A ball of dough is grilled  to perfection and then sliced open and stuffed with incredible food things like plantains, avocado, black beans, cheese, etc. And when you take the first bite, ohhhh buddy,  it's like a party in your mouth! Catch them where you can (Farmers Market on Esplanade by City Park or Santa Fe and 2nd). They are mobile food ninjas. The crew is always VERY friendly and accommodating and you can tell how much pride they put in their business. Igor is the man! A diamond in the rough in this fair city. 5 stars.

I first wandered towards El Caribe at the City Park Esplanade Farmer's Market a few weeks ago. I ordered a Queso to bring home to my husband for a birthday snack, and a new craving/obsession was created. He shared half with me, and, amidst the groans of "this is SO good" we realized it was too late to go back and get another. We went again this weekend and each got our own, this time the Vegan. The arepas are slightly sweet and crispy, filled with black beans that are full of flavor, and cooked to perfection - not mushy, or hard. The sweet plantains, creamy avocado and secret sauce top off this delightful and filling meal. With a meld of amazing flavor, each bite makes you want one more! In addition to the delectable arepas, the owners/staff are welcoming, friendly and really take pride in their food. All in all, El Caribe is a wonderful find. We'll definitely be back and recommend their arepas to everyone we know!

What a great surprise!  Sunday morning walk over to the City Park Esplanade Farmers market and right on the end is El Caribe making Arepa's.   A fantastic "tamale sandwich" (best way I could describe it) cooked, split open then filled with the ingredients to my liking.    I chose the Black Beans, cheese and Avocado, which was outstanding.  The beans were flavorful without being overcooked, the avocado was cut fresh for me.  All for a reasonable price.
Now I know my breakfast or lunch when I go to the farmers market.

Denver's farmer's markets just got a bit sexier thanks to the arrival of Venezuelan food stand, El Caribe.  There is only one dish on the menu at El Caribe, arepas.  Fortunately, they come in a variety of combinations.  For those of you that are uninitiated, an arepa is essentially a traditional Venezuelan and Columbian dish, a sandwich that substitutes corn patties in place of the bread.  On our first visit to EC, we opted to try the pabellon and the el caribe.  The pabellon is a combination of shredded beef, black beans, sweet plantains and mozzarella cheese.  It was my favorite of the two since it was so saucy and bursting with flavor.  The el caribe is their signature dish, a combo of smoked salmon, capers, avocado and muenster.  It was nice, but perhaps a tad dry and a little lacking in overall flavor.  I'll be coming back to try the other combos soon.  Hopefully they'll add to their menu as their success grows.
