I've eaten here about 4-5 times over the last several years when I come through town. The pizzas are WONDERFUL and I recommend the veggie pizza - it has never disappointed us. Â Something special about the crust that makes it entirely yummy. Â Their salads are always fresh and the lettuce is very good (and I'm picky about it). They also have "standard" restaurant food - nothing fancy, but burgers, sandwiches, etc., and what you'd see in Bob Evans or Cracker Barrel, etc. Â
They are busy during lunch and dinner hours and this seems to be the place to be for locals. So that speaks well of them, too. The facility is divided into two large sections. Within the last year they've started having live music on Friday & Saturday nights in the adjoining "bar" section. This can also handle overflow seating when the main eating area gets full.
No complaints about service on my visits. Â Keep in mind that if they're slammed with hikers (like during Trail Days or tourist season) things can get hectic. Â I think if you bring any problems to the manager's attention, it will be taken care of. Â I found the servers to be friendly and nice on all my visits.
My sister & her son stopped in here after getting the "Trail" washed off them & had a wonderful meal of pizza & beer (pepperoni & jalapeno and the chicken & feta)...they hiked for two days, caught a ride to town, stowed their packs outside, went in and found they were the only patrons...three boys poised momentarily by the register before disappearing into the back...they came out about five minutes later, saw my sister & nephew still waiting, and all three went BACK into the back and never came out...until other customers came in, then they were waited on...Damascus claims to be a haven for hikers, but don't believe it! There is no place to camp, the merchants only want your money if it's clean and it's only a haven for bigots...if all the hikers could put the word out about Dumbass-cus, they might get learn humility in poverty!
Review Source:We were just wandering through southwest Virginia and found ourselves in Damascus. We thought we'd stumble about the AP Trail for a mile or two, but needed to fortify ourselves and decided on this little corner joint. The outside doesn't look like much, but the inside had a nice feel with big, old wooden booths and a friendly staff. We decided to try some sammies with the girlfriend finding a surprise in a good shrimp Po' Boy in mountain country. I went for the turkey sub, which while made with pretty standard stuff, was kissed with the grill and came with fresh, super-scaldingly delicious fries. The place even had a little stage set up in the corner, so it looked like it got to jumping every now and again, which can be a plus.
No wheels were being reinvented, nor were any socks flying off of feet, but when you can get some well-prepared, happy-time, comfort food, who needs "5 stars" or "4 diamonds"? We left happy and might just return to try the pizza!
My husband and I came here after we hiked 12 miles in the Greyson Highlands State Park. Â We were STARVING. Â They were pretty busy, so I'll give our waiter a break. Â Two negatives - pizza used canned mushrooms (ick) and chicken wings were "luke-cold." Â Like they had been sitting there for a LONG time. Â And they probably were, 'cause we were waiting a LONG time for our food.
But the Yuengling was 2.86 for a pint. Â :-)
Your mouth starts watering as you approach Quincy's from the wonderful pizza aroma. And, there is no disappointment once you get there. You can't go wrong on anything you order, but their buffalo wings and pizza are a family favorite. Be sure to ask for Crystal for your waitress. She treats you like family and always fills your glass before you need to ask.
