I came due to an invitation from their Facebook site promising a great night at their Country Fridays...well, a great night is the last thing any of the people in my party had!

Our party got to the front door where we presented our ID's.  I was first and was allowed inside.  My friends, on the other hand were detained by the bouncer and owner.

I was speaking with the cover charge counter woman [who was very nice] when I heard one of my friends call out to me, I turned around and came back out into the lobby area to find the owner was giving my friends a very hard time.

When I asked what the problem was, the owner informed me that my friends did not look like their licenses.  My reply was "who really truly does?".  When he stated that none of my friends would get in, even after only identifying 2 of the 5 in our party, he then turned to me and said "You are not going in either!" and then in a loud voice, told us to leave.

When I informed him that his behavior was rude and that his identification process was illlegal [almost no one looks like their license.  A properly trained doorman will check eyes and face structure for proper ID of a person], he then turned loud and demanded we leave, which we did.

The next day, some of our mutual friends asked where we were that night, and I informed them of the evening.  A total fun evening ruined because of one man and his attitude!

Let's just say that I have taken action against the establishment, where the owner claims to have the incident "on video tape" and at every hearing has yet to bring it!  This only serves to show the true colors of this establishment, and I will not recommend it to anyone EVER!

There are much nicer, more classier establishments within minutes of this place...give them your business.  They will certainly work hard to earn it!

I've been to Rain many (maybe to many) times and on any given night it can be a 1 star or 5 star experience.

    Pros:
-Great shows and theme nights! They have some of the best older acts and the ticket prices are always reasonable. I just went to see the 80s/90s King of Freestyle Stevie B. (I've been to see him a few times). They recently had SWV, and upcoming shows with Bret Michael and Bell Biv Devoe.
-Nice setup and decor. Their is tons of seating and 3 different bars nicely spread out across the place. The decor overall feels a little upscale (it's nice!)
    -Free Parking
-Outdoor smoking area that is covered and heated, and you can bring your drinks.
-Woman walking around selling pizza by the slice. I've only seen her earlier in the night (maybe I'm to drunk to notice later). Some people laugh at it, but you never know when you can use a slice :)

    Cons:
-Drink are priced a little to high, especially when you get a bartender with a light pour
-The employees can be assholes sometimes. I was dancing next to a girl that dropped and broke a glass. She just moved away, so I told one of the big burly bouncers (thinking that, oh I don't know, they might want to clean it up before someone falls and hurts themselves). His response was "what do you want me to do about it, you shouldn't have dropped your cup". I didn't drop shit, I was just being nice, but whatever
-Bathrooms are to small and almost always running low on soap

There is definitely a good amount of older people, but I love it. Watching them party like it's 1979 gives me something to laugh at (not to their faces, I'm not that much of a bitch!)

Country Line dancing night is a lot of fun.  You can't let the "trashy" look of the bowling alley next door scare you away, once in RAIN the crowd is a lot nicer.

So went back to Rain again, and it was even better than before. It wasn't crowded at all so dancing was wicked fun cuz there was so much room to move around. My drink was good. That same old guy who is like at least 80 years old was there getting  his groove on lol. So what that its in Malden? I have fun every time I've gone there. Try it out.

My friends and I came here for New Years Eve. We figured every place in Boston would be full, and probably at least 30 bucks to get in. Yes, it's right inside a place with a cheesy bowling alley. Yes, it's in Malden, where there is a 50/50 chance you're going to get shot /robbed/ coerced into talking to junkies. However, It was New Years Eve, and it didn't matter where we went, as long as it was cheap enough, and my old friend Jose Cuervo was right there with me. The booze was the same prices as the places in Boston, but they didn't skimp you on it. They had a smoking area, which is awesome because I didn't have to freeze my ass off outside ( Nobody caters to smokers anymore, because were disgusting and were all thats wrong with the world.) The music was really good to dance to. The bartenders didn't ignore you.. ( " You want some SHOTS??! HOW ABOUT SOME SHOTSSSSS!!! ") The only qualm I had was the bathroom. Can't a girl take a leak? 4 Stalls?? REALLY? I had to elbow through two dozen white trash women staring at themselves in the mirror to relieve myself. Ladies, if you are average looking, go to Rain. You will feel like a beauty queen. 5 Stars!

I was dragged here by my roommates one night .. I was told that it is a great dive to go to when you live in Malden, FIrst off there was not a single person in the bar (we arrived at 11:15 on a friday) paid $6 .. when i found out if you know the people at the door you can get in for free. Got some overly priced drinks at the bar $8 for 12 oz of pretty much just soda no liquor i had to ask the girl 3 times to put more in...

the only reason why I gave this place 2 stars is they had a nice atmosphere if more people were there and there was this  crazy woman dancing by herself on the dance floor and I was told she comes every friday .. the crazy woman alone would be why I would every pay $6 again otherwise ill stick with going anywhere else

I'd like to review a little known secret about Rain Night Club, the catering/functions. I've had 3 functions there, and they have gone without a hitch, thanks to Ray! Food was wonderful, reasonably priced and plentiful, and Ray takes all the stress out of arranging a function. My family has had First Communion celebrations, a bridal shower and after funeral luncheons. All have been perfect.

Good place if you dont want to go into Boston and deal with all the hassle. The bartender was AWESOME! drinks were high  ( 10 bucks) but really strong and the bartender was really attentive and we never had to fight for her attention. a little bummed at the cover, i thought most clubs let you in for free before ten. dancing was fun, we had to snicker at the girls dancing in uggs and booty shorts on the little stages. the guys? some wierdos, but you get that anyplace. bathrooms were ok.plenty of security. had fun, didnt have to fight to sit down or get drinks and free easy parking. dj kept cutting the songs in the middle and mixing the choruses which was kinda dumb. but i had fun!

call me crazy, but i had a FANTASTIC night at rain. i'm also a firm believer that a great time can be had at any place where the drinks are strong and the music and company are good, and rain certainly had all of those things for me when i went last friday for a belated 24th birthday celebration that started off with glow in the dark bowling next door (convenience: check!).

i didn't feel like going into the city and felt like this would be a nice compromise - and, if nothing else, provide some amazing people/guido-watching. my friends and i were slightly scared when we walked in a bit after 10 (no cover: bonus!) and saw no dance floor of any sort, but we grabbed a cushy booth - prime real estate at any club downtown- the cocktail waitress assured us that a private party was just ending and the dividing wall (!) would be removed soon. 5 minutes later, we witnessed the unveiling of said dance floor and dj booth- both much cooler looking than i anticipated- in fact, the whole place was.

after 2 HUGE whiskey sours (seriously, for $7.50 you really get your money's worth), i was just about ready to dance, and suddenly, go-go dancers appeared on some boxes overlooking the dance floor! was i in heaven? europe? i had no clue, but my friends & i loved it and were transfixed. then the dj answered my dancing prayers by playing jay sean's "down", which obviously translated to "get your booty on the dance floor". that we did. and we danced until just about 1:30am to the best top 40 and hip-hop everrrr....i'm talking ke$ha, black eyed peas and taio cruz mixed with random sean paul and dmx. there were people from all walks of life: couples dry humping, creepers lurking (only one interacting, though...score!), and girls like us just having a good time.

for all the trash that people talk about rain, i dug it.

If you don't mind dancing next to 65 years old people, drunk? Then this place is for you! I'm very honest about my reviews and I don't like people that writes bad reviews based on one experience. So that being said, rain nightclub in Malden is probably the worst place to go in mass any day of the week. Saturday nights, Billy costa shows up and goes to the mic for some bs, the dj plays 50 songs in 8 minutes, horrible drinks, the entire place is just bad. The people that goes to this place is: people that can't get in anywhere else, don't have a car to go somewhere else, are really drunk to make decisions, or are 65 and just don't care about life so if you fit in any of those categories go to rain :)

    I love to dance.

That being said, if I'm spending more of my time with my booze and cigarettes outside, there's something wrong. If you're a smoker, you'll love that it has an outdoor area completely closed in, with heaters for those cold New England winters. Five stars for that.

But only for that. Drinks weren't great. I don't feel this place is quality enough to be charging such a cover to their male patrons. If you're going to charge a man $10, you better provide some sweet looking ass. Not a bunch of middle aged women trying to dance to the latest reggae song like it's 1977.

I do always get a pretty good laugh out of this place though. Who can't have fun watching other people make fools of themselves?

Picture every "North Shore" stereotype, young and old, in a large, tastefully decorated warehouse with alcohol and Billy Costa. What two words come to mind? People watching. Which happens to be one of my favorite things to do. That and the free parking are the two things going for this place.

If you are looking for Kiss 108 music, expensive drinks, and foolishly drunk folks, then this is the place for you. However, I would recommend just driving the extra 7 minutes into the city to get the whole experience.

Well I'm new the the area and due to the weather, I wanted to stay local.  Oh Boy!! I arrived early about 10pm and for the first hour or so it was actually pretty cool.  People dancing and plenty of room in the dance floor and very easy to get a drink, cover was only $5 and parking was easy to find.  However about 11:30 the bar part was still cool, but the dance floor became unbearable.  Ladys, how do you deal with this? There was so many meat heads and really desperate guys not really dancing but just trying to stance as close as they could to any female on the dance floor that it kind of lost it's purpose.  Nit picking I guess, I'm mean trying to pick up chicks is ok but at least dance!

Wow, who'd have thought that the club attached to the bowling alley could be so much fun?  The first time I went here was several months ago for a friend's birthday party.  We reserved the VIP room for the occasion, which, don't be fooled into thinking it's something incredibly fabulous, is really just a small area behind some beaded curtains.  It's not really that exclusive given that you can see right in from the dance floor, but that being said, the private bar is nice so you don't have to push your way through any people to get a drink.

I remember the first time I went I thought the DJ must have had ADD or something, because he'd play about two minutes of a song and just when you were getting into it, he'd transition to another song.  I mean, we got to hear a lot of good songs that way, but just not as much of each one as we may have liked.  This past Friday was much better, though, with the world famous gay Jim DJ-ing, as he played complete songs.  Bravo, gay Jim.

There is certainly some great people watching to be had here.  The go-go dancers are fun to watch, although I don't know that they fully appreciated us trying to copy their moves.  As far as the clientele, it's an diverse mix of mostly twenty-somethings, some kids with good fake ID's, and a few 30-40 somethings thrown in for good measure.  My group was all late 20's/early 30's and we didn't feel out of place at all.

This place is pretty big actually, with a very long bar as you walk in and a second one in the back.  It never really got overly packed, so there was no waiting in line for drinks.  The dance floor is good sized and has a floor and stage level.  The stage level offers premium views of the shenanigans going on below.  This past Friday's shenanigan was two young (as in most likely under 21 that got in with fakes) girls engaged in dancing that was basically lesbian sex with clothes on.  Maybe they were actual lesbians having a carefree great time, but my instinct tells me they were doing it more to attract the attention of the "gentlemen" around them.  And attract it they did!  At one point a bouncer actually came over to them and pulled them off the dance floor.  They showed back up so I'm guessing they were just told to keep it a little more PG-13.  Oh those crazy lesbians!  :-)

Drink prices were average, I'd say with 7 drinks (two of which were martinis) coming to $57.  And before you judge, no, they were not all for me!  We just didn't feel like waiting for the tab to be split.  Cover charge varies, but I think it's free before ten.  Unfortunately, we arrived at about 10:03.  The females in our party were delighted to find out that cover was free for ladies that night, but unfortunately for the gents, it was $5.  Boo on Rain for no gender equality in the cover charges, but a $5 cover was not worth us speeding recklessly down Route 1 to avoid.  Also, just a note about the parking lot.  Now, it's not very well lit, so if you don't feel safe walking through the lot don't do this, but I would recommend parking as far away from the door as possible.  Cramped (although free!) parking lot plus people that have been drinking plus inexperienced teen drivers (who've probably also been drinking at some point) coming out of the bowling alley is a recipe for a fender bender.

I've been here twice and really enjoyed the experience.
Here's what Rain has going for it...
1.The cover charge is cheap.  The first time I went, I paid about $10 and the second time I paid 5.  If I'd been a girl, my second visit would have been free.  That's a deal.
    2. Parking lot.  Free.  Enough said.
    3. The music is great.  On my first visit, the soundtrack of the evening was like the soundtrack of my life.  It was like the DJ (forget who) was finely in tune with all my favorite songs, starting with Jr. High and ending in the present.  On my second visit, Jim (gay Jim from KISS 108) played more stuff I love and I really liked about 90% of the music
    4. Bar-good stuff
    5. The crowd- No one seems terribly judgmental or pretentious.  I like that.  I can just go dance with my friends and have a good time.

All in all, an excellent venue for busting a move, just a bit north of Boston.

i had a great time here it had a nice dance floor and two huge bars. Good music too. Sometimes there is a cover usually like $10.00, (I hate cover charges!!!) but most of the time it's no cover before 10pm, like most places. I always go back n have a great time. Fun Fun Fun, plus it's close by. It's a good time without the boston club cost. You know???

About as good as a Nightclub attached to a bowling ally can be....

OK, you have to take Rain for what it is. Do not be fooled by Billy Kosta being there from KISS 108 or the girls they have dancing on boxes...people this is a night club attached to bowling ally.

They seemed to have forgotten this little fact as they hit for ten bucks for a Jager and Red Bull. But when your on the North Shore  and you don't really feel like going to Boston for the night, this is your alternative ( think too lazy to go out to eat so you have Domino's deliver).

All in all though it isn't a bad time. It has some grade A people watching (we met a woman in her late 30's with what only could be classified as White Snake hair) and the music isn't bad.
So if your on the North Shore and feeling lazy check it out cause hey even if the crowd sucks that night you can just step right into a bowling Lane and the night magically gets better.
