I love Redwood Curtain! It's truly a hidden gem in Arcata with some of the best Belgian style brews I've tried in the States.

They have four beers that they brew year-round. These include the B.P.A. (Belgian Pale Ale), the I.G.A. (Imperial Golden Ale- my personal go-to brew when I'm out somewhere that they offer it on tap), the Belgian Style Porter, and their IPA. All of these range somewhere in the 6% alcohol content range, so they're not light beers. These four are all delicious. In all of the beers that Redwood Curtain brews, you really can taste the hand-crafted love and and care put into their creation. Some Specialty favorites of theirs include the English Barley Wine and   their Trippel. These brews taste very authentic in their respective Belgian flavors. Most are quite high in alcohol content too, so beware! They're delicious so they get drunk quickly- almost too quickly!

The atmosphere has been excellent since they enlarged the tasting room. Sometimes they have live bands performing, and most nights they have a food truck of sorts outside. There's always plenty of fresh air coming in. All of the bartenders have been very kind and friendly. I guess my one and only complaint would be that sometimes there isn't enough seating. That could honestly be a pro, though. The limited seating gives the place a home-y and secluded type of feel. They are child friendly, too! There's a small little fort that I've seen kids play in. They also have tons of board games to play while you're there.

Oh! If you get hungry while you're there -or catch yourself getting a little tipsier than you thought!- they have free bowls of Goldfish or Wheat Thins for you to snack on while you're drinking. Just ask the bartenders. Free unlimited refills too!

All in all, I love Redwood Curtain's brews, atmosphere, service, and location. If it were any closer into downtown Arcata, it would be super packed every night of the week, thereby making it less of a treat (in my opinion).

I usually love places like this, but sadly, I was very unimpressed.

The beer was too strong for me, my friend, and my boyfriend to a point where we couldn't even finish our beers. There were bugs everywhere (the door was open), and live music was playing. The music was fine, but so loud that none of us could hear each other. Also, the place reeked of pot. I understand that it's Arcata, but in my opinion, that seems a bit unprofessional for any business that wants to be taken seriously.

Best Microbrewery In California, maybe America. Pints are expensive ($5 for 20oz, $3.50 for 12oz) But you get what you pay for. Just don't expect to get drunk here.

This place has only been around for a few years but it has become super popular to the locals. I have taken my folks here 3-4 times and they have been very impressed every time.

My dad said he had the best beer ever here (rauchbier) and he has been a microbrew drinker for 35 yrs.

They also have food here usually (artisan hot dogs)

A DEFINITE DESTINATION TO VISIT WHEN IN ARCATA
