I love piano bars!
In addition to great music, the food was divine. Â
Fried lobster is an absolute must. Â Also the apple cheesecake was probably the best cheesecake I've ever had. Â We basically sampled all the appetizers and desserts. Â Everything was yummy, but these particularly stand out.
Entrees were good, but not great. Â I had chicken parm. Â Portion was huge. Â This place is pricey but well worth it!
Reserve is an undiscovered star just waiting for her moment in the spotlight. A new-comer to Newport on the Levee, this steakhouse/piano lounge wowed me from entrance to exit. From the lovely Cybele on the baby grand to the posh black and white photography (available for sale) from Pendleton Art Gallery, the mood was perfectly set for our romantic evening.
I started with a Bellini Martini, while my honey ordered a Stella Artois (on draft). Made with Absolut Peach and champagne and garnished with a star fruit slice, my cocktail ranks among the best that I have ever imbibed. Though it cost $9, I relished every sweet sip.
Our charming server Kevin told us about the evening's specialty, filet mignon ala Oscar, which is an 8 oz beef medallion topped with lump crab meat and bearnaise sauce. Sounding so scrumptious, we both chose that dish for our meal, though the other entrees were very reasonably priced and tempted our appetites.
Our $28 meals were served with our choice of potato (mashed, baked, or steak fries) and salad (Caesar or house). My house salad consisted of nice portion of field greens, carrot strings, and tomato wedges all tossed in a pear vinaigrette. Though I thought my salad was delicious, I slightly preferred my boyfriend's Caesar salad with its thin parmesan shavings and homemade crouton.
The main course arrived shortly after when finished our salads. The presentation was simple, yet appealing. Our filet's were covered with small chunks of crabmeat and right amount of sauce, flavors which blended nicely with the meats juices. This steak easily ranks among my top five steaks of all time, and for this price I'll definitely be treating myself more often.
