As a disclaimer, New Year's Eve events are underwhelming 99.999% of the time, but I had hopes that this one would surprise me. Â Nope. Â The venue was nice, but the carpeting made me feel like I was at a trade show rather than a party. Â I guess they can't help that though. Â However, the coat check was disastrous. Â When I gave an attendant my ticket at the end of the night, she disappeared, and when I asked another attendant to retrieve my coat, she said she couldn't retrieve my coat without my ticket. Â The same attendand whom I gave my ticket to claimed that I hadn't given her a ticket. Â In addition, when my friend gave an attendant her ticket, the attendant came back and said that they did not have her coat, which was ironic, because we could clearly see her very distinct coat from where we were standing. Â So, that is how I will forever remember New Year's 2012 - spending 30 minutes reaming out a snotty, lousy coat check staff and fearing that our car service would leave without us because the coat check people took six years to retrieve our coats and generally sucked at life. Â
The only reason I give this event two stars instead of one is because the bar service was quick and I didn't have to wait long for drinks. Â However, I will not be attending next year, nor will I recommend this event to friends.
Great venue at Seaport World Trade Center. Â The room was huge and well decorated, but the dance floor quite small. Â Need a much larger dance floor.
Were given free drink tickets, yet they only worked at some of the bars. Â They should also Ban drinks on the dance floor. Â You dont really want drinks being spilled on your tux and gowns all night long and the floor was coated in sticky drinks by the end of the night.
Dress ranged from the recommended black tie to slacks with shirt and no tie.
