The only thing Irish about this place is the name and the American Irish decor, which means lots and lots of leprechauns and shamrocks - something one seldom if ever sees in the pubs of Ireland. Cream - or even whole milk - for the tea would be good but we got skim. They don't even have Guinness on tap!

There. Having vented my spleen about the non-Irish pub-ness of the place, the food they do offer IS good - standard mid-western mom & pop diner fare. While they don't even offer the stereotypical corned beef and cabbage, they do have a Reuben sandwich which has both in it. Kate had the grilled salmon salad (OK, salmon is sorta traditional Irish) and I had the blackened chicken salad. We both love sweet potato fries so we split an order and they are VERY good! The service was rather slow (it does say on the menu that they don't do "fast food") but the waitresses were very friendly and attentive.

When you live in a small town, you don't have a lot of options. Riley's Irish Pub offers up typical "pub grub," but it comes with a side of local flair. Lexington has several eateries in town, but I tend to favor Riley's because they have some of the more unique food.

Fried pickles, fried cauliflower and fried zucchini are a couple of the menu staples. If you are planning on eating healthy, they do have grilled chicken/shrimp/salmon salads. I have never tried one of their burgers, but friends have said they are good.

Desserts aren't particularly spectacular, as they are just "down home" goodies: Ice cream and brownie sundaes, root beer floats (made with Fitz's root beer), peach/blackberry cobbler.

Treat yourself to a Fitz's soda, splurge on fried goodies and sign the guest book on your way out.

Tip: Bathroom is all the way upstairs.

What he said (the last reviewer).  Basic pub, pretty good food, friendly, very "local" waitstaff, restrooms way to heck upstairs.  LIke the place; might be the best grub in Lexington.
