This place looks somewhat dive-y from the outside, and slightly better on the inside.. It was pretty empty on a Friday night, but it was early (8 PM), so perhaps it picks up later. Â I stopped in for some cheap take-out, and was so excited to try their chicken mofongo. Â I called in, ordered the mofongo ($8.00) and, since their online menu doesn't show any side-dishes and the mofongo only "comes with a salad," I asked if they had a side of rice and beans. Â The person on the phone said yes, and that it'd be ready in 20 minutes.
I go to pick up my order, and am shocked to receive a bill for $16.00. Â Huh? Â They charged me 8.00 for the mofongo, $4.00 (what?!) for white rice, and $3.50 for a small container of red beans. Â I thought surely, it must be a mistake, and the rice must be something special to cost $4.00. Â But no, it was literally just a styrofoam container of plain white rice. Â So, $7.50 total for a side dish. Â The beans were ok, not great, and the mofongo was also just ok, a bit dry, and not flavorful. Â It really needs some kind of sauce to be edible. Â The salad was just a bed of bagged salad fixins' with shredded cabbage, that the mofongo sat on top of. Â I will say, the portion of mofongo was large, and lasted several meals, so that was something! Â I don't think I'll be returning any time soon, particularly till they get their pricing sorted.
