Went out of business in late 2012. New fish bar coming in 2013.

I have been to this place before, a while back, had some good sliders, actually.  This time around it was just for the cocktail competition. Their signature drink was The Cunning Clove", except when I tasted it, it didn't taste anything like clove... cunning indeed...  turns out they had run out of the ingredients for the beverage, and started mixing to make something else... they made two different drinks while I was there, and I'm not convinced either of them was The Cunning Clove.  When we asked about how we were supposed to vote for their cocktail when it wasn't being served - they commented that you vote for the place, not the cocktail... au contraire. It's a cocktail competition... not a favorite bar competition.  Add to that their Honey Bourbon Chicken Fingers were not that exciting either... pretty much just good mini chix fingers w/ a special dipping sauce... possibly from a jar.

They seemed to be very understaffed, a little over busy with regular patrons to handle the competition crowd.  (Hey, good for them.)

Hence, you lose, Rockfish. Next time, be more prepared - or simply abstain from the competition.

My husband and I stopped in here to try something different. We always go to The Starboard while in Newburyport. We sat outside on State St. We ordered the spicy fried calamari appetizer that were the best we've ever had. For dinner I ordered fried clams and onion rings. The clams were very clean and lightly battered as we're the onion rings. My husband ordered the surf and turf which was very good. It came with delicious lobster fritters. The only thing is the mashed potatoes were dry. Overall, we enjoyed it here.  We will definitely come again.
