I love that the reviews of this place all come from people in the Northeast.
We stopped by this place for lunch one day. Â I thought it was a great counter service place with good prices and a nice simple menue.
My friend from Texas got the brisket and loves it. Â He has been many times and never misses a chance to grab lunch. Â I had the pulled pork sammich and bought another one on the way out. Â
They make their own sauces and even bottle them for transport. Â They come in plastic which helps if you are a traveler like me. Â The thicker-tangy BBQ sauce was pretty tasty. Â The thin vinegar based sauce isn't my style but I could really appreciate it.
You would never know that there is a gas station next door. Nice and clean little place with historic pictures of Locust on the wall. Â They always have good specials during the week. My hubby loves the BBQ (they make their own sauce!) and always says it is his favorite. I (being a vegetarian) love the sides - particularly the Cucumber Salad! And the tea is so good - always important to true Southerners! As another reviewer stated, I've heard the banana pudding is good. But I'm always too full for dessert.
Review Source:This is a decent BBQ restaurant in the land of BBQ, but still, I found it seemingly average. Â Rockstore BBQ is in the same plaza as a gas station, so one can multitask by filling their gas tank and then filling their gut. Â They have a good combo special, featuring a BBQ pork sandwich, a side and a drink for $5, which I partook in. Â It's a good value, but I found the pork to be a little dry. Â There is a dining area in this restaurant as well, which is also separate from the gas station.
