This place is the SHIZNAT!  My family has been going here for a couple of years now and they always treat us very very well.  We've celebrated numerous birthdays here and they always accommodate our large parties even though there's limited space.  Their rolls are EXCELLENT and very reasonably priced.  It's easy to have a great meal for 2 people for under $30 and you'll be very full.  It's also BYOB the last time that I checked.  It's pretty easy to find street parking; we usually park in the lot across the street.  The Korean food is pretty good too if you want to mix it up.  I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place.

Oh my gosh.  Rolls 'N Bowls.  How I love thee.

So good, so cheap!  But...  so far away.  :(

The ambiance is for sure lacking, but it almost makes it endearing?? It's probably not a top choice to take a date... unless your date loves stuffing his/her face with sushi and isn't pretentious (which is the only type of person anyone should date).

But seriously.  Make the trip on up Lincoln and check it out!  I bet you'll like it! :)

It was "ok" and that's about all.  The rolls are huge and can easily be choked on.  It was super cold in the restaurant too!  We asked the waitress to turn the heat on it was that bad! Two separate times the waitress brought us the wrong order.  Out of the 3 rolls we ordered, one was amazing but the other 2 not good at all. Miso soup was good but salad did not taste right.  My girlfriend got an upset stomach when we left here. Will not return.

ordered take out from here the other day, post-christmas gluttony. i had the spicy tuna, friends had the mango tango, emergency (spicy) roll, salmon avocado, and sweet potato tempura (?). they were all delicious, thought the emergency roll was INTENSELY spicy. would order from here again, or even visit the restaurant itself! (if only it weren't so cold outside!)

Great BYO place! Menu is large and a little over priced. The food tastes good though! Personally thought the bowls were better than the rolls. Will go back again.

Looooove this hidden gem! I get the veggie- Brocolli and Sweet Potato Tempura rolls which are only $3.25. You also get free miso and it's BYOB! My boyfriend got the Spicy Tuna hand roll and said it was the best he has EVER had!!! Awesome ambiance and cute place, too. I highly recommend!

I went last night with a friend from the burbs, who asked if I could pick a delicious sushi place relatively close to the highway.  I consulted yelp and found Rolls N' Bowls.  Truthfully, the location is a pain in the ass for me to drive to, as well as the amount of parking was also fairly minimal.

BYOB, really great service and pretty great sushi.  Tiny space, but not very crowded for a Monday night, which was perfect.  Probably not the top three in Chicago, but really great and I thought prices were really decent.

Try the Miami roll.  Thank me later.

Simply put: best sushi I have had in Chicago.  I haven't tried a lot of expensive places downtown but out of the 10 or so other places I have tried in the areas of Ravenswood, Lincoln Square, Wrigleyville, and Wicker Park this was my favorite. I come back all the time.

We've been coming here since we moved to Lincoln Square a year and a half ago, and Rolls N Bowls has become one of my top 2 sushi restaurants in Chicago.  We end up getting take out or delivery way more often than any normal person should eat sushi.  But honestly they have really fresh fish and something about their sushi rice is just perfect.  I love the spicy salmon crunch and mango tango and my fiancé is a big fan of the sakura maki.  Everyone we have brought here has loved it, so if you're in the area I highly recommend it!

The food here is great, and the waiters r very nice. BUT I ate there once and a lady had the nerve to bring her big dog in with her (not a service animal) and kept him inside with her while she waited for her food. I was upset that the owners didn't tell her to get the dog out?..

    Ha! I love this place.

It's tiny little space but it's really sweet inside.

Convinced my gf that all you can eat sushi is not happening tonight. It's too late. Thankfully, she obliged and we showed up last week. It was cold and rainy but oh so comforting once we were seated.

We ordered a couple appetizers to start (calamari and tempura). The dipping sauce was ahmazing! The calamai was really small pieces but oh so tasty. Tempura was very good as well.

We were pretty hungry so we ordered a few rolls including mango bliss and the rainbow dragon. Both were really tasty. I even ate the huge shrimp head that was the head of the dragon. The mango was not as ripe as I like it but still, the flavors worked well with each other.

I'm so happy that I'm walking distance and they deliver! I will definitely be back.

My girlfriend and I were VERY excited to try the sushi from Rolls 'N Bowls. We're both sushi fans, and the yelp reviews had us looking forward to trying it out.

We ordered delivery. The ordering process was very smooth. The lady on the phone was very nice when taking my order. Unfortunately, this was the highlight of our experience. I ordered a roll with shrimp and salmon. She had veggie tempura and an AAC roll. (She is vegetarian)

When our food arrived, I noticed that the veggie tempura looked very much like shrimp. Turns out, it was shrimp. The AAC roll looked good, but my shrimp/salmon roll was NOT what I ordered. There was no shrimp. I have no idea what kind of roll it was, but it wasn't the Orange Samurai I ordered. There was no shrimp to be found, and had avacado and masago. I called to correct the order and get a veggie tempura roll. I was fine with my "whatever" roll, but my girlfriend couldn't eat the shrimp tempura we received, as she is vegetarian.

The same lady answered the phone. She told me that the shrimp tempura "wasn't cooked with the vegetables, so it should be fine". Clearly, she wasn't listening to what I was saying. After explaining (three times, no joke) that we received the wrong thing, she said she would have a vegetable tempura sent out immediately. She then informed me that my credit card would be charged for the roll. UM WHAT?! YOU screwed up and I have to pay for it??? After arguing for a few minutes, she realized how dumb this was. The food arrived an hour later.

We will most definitely NOT be dining here ever again. I'm not sure how it has 4.5 stars on Yelp. Maybe it was just an off night.

Went to this place a couple weeks ago, on a sushi Sunday. Besides my friend and I the place was empty, but lots of folks came in for take out. We wanted saki bombs, but it is BYOB. The sushi was fresh and came out quickly. We loved the Mexican roll and the spicy tuna was delish! My only complaint was it was like a sauna in there!!

DO NOT get the the spicy ramen. It's Shin Ramyun. Seriously not worth your money because you can make this yourself for about $3 less than the price and it's not that hard. Buy a packet of Shin Ramyun for about $1 (or a whole box and your packet will come out to be less than $1), boil water, add vegetables (optional-- I like to add kimchi) and your instant noodle, drop an egg into it, let boil for about 30 seconds to a minute if you want your egg still in tact and runny, serve and eat. Yeah, SO NOT worth $5 even with someone else cooking it for you. Don't be lazy.

DO get the sashimi appetizer. Yum! The fish were tasty! I was pleasantly surprised.

DO get the futo maki. Do you like California rolls? This is the Japanese version that came first.

I don't typically like dairy products in my Japanese sushi rolls at all. I don't like spicy mayo. I don't like cheese. I don't like weird spicy sauces. Seriously, I just want fish and rice and maybe some vegetables. The other stuff weirds me out, hence my recommendations for sashimi and futo maki. After trying the sashimi appetizer, I'd get the nigiri sushi as well.

The other best thing about this place? It's pretty affordable. :)

Never realized I haven't reviewed this place yet...

After last night, I've come to the realization that this place isn't quite the 4 I keep thinking/wanting it to be, but rather a solid 3-3.5.

The sushi itself is fine. I wouldn't rant and rave and say it's really good, but it's not bad either.

Other food here is okay to eh. Just yesterday I had a craving for ramen and it was late so RnB was the only option I had. Ramen seemed like it was from a packet, but made fancier with some veggies and an egg. I can do the same thing at home.

Service is good to okay on average.

Overall, I like this place for it's hours and it's location... If I wasn't so close I wouldn't really make a point to come to RnB.

Good place for rolls, very reasonably priced.

Sushi is ok here, pricing is on par with other joints. I get more values getting the rolls here. I come here for the rolls and Korean food, not so much for nigiri/sashimi sushi.

So 18 hours after I posted my initial review I was contacted by an owner asking if they can be of any assistance in coming back for a second go; contacted via Yelp.  Read my first review to know what I am referring to.  They wanted me to try them out again and leave with a nice taste in my mouth.
Now some time later I feel propelled to write since I've received a second message from a different manager asking if they can get me to revisit the restaurant.  That's cool.  I like that they are on top of their social media.  If you look at their reviews you can investigate a little and see that the owners / management make contact with those that have reviewed whether it be good or bad.  Due to my schedule as of late, I haven't yet had the time to take a second go at it.  In its place I'm bumping my initial review up a star.  KUDOS to management.

On the other hand, I'm just not sure there's enough pressing desire to take a second go.

OK...some of the better Sushi that I have had in Chicago.  Rolls are extremely fresh and well made.  Interesting specialty rolls that are good sized and flavorful.  Great service and easy parking.  Only downside for me is the location -- it's just not that convenient.  But the pleasant staff and the delicious food make me a believer in this Sushi joint.  I'll gladly go here over a place like Tank, which has good Sushi but the staff seems to have attitude problems.  Thanks Rolls 'N' Bowls -- I'm glad to have discovered you.

Enough white people sushi; I just can't take it anymore.  With the rice on the outside of the nori and gooey crap drizzled all over, who in 2012 really is freaked out by the sight of nori?  It's not 1990.   Please, if you walk in to a sushi place and you see "inside out" rolls drizzled in mayo/teriyaki goop and a menu featuring more avocado and cream cheese concoctions than traditional, simple items, just turn around.  I would have eaten much better sushi had I just gone to one of the nearby Korean places for kimbap.

The salmon skin, one my favorites, was abominable.  In addition to featuring the aforementioned problems, the rice was hot!  That's just laziness - sushi rice must be served at room temperature or slightly below and should be cooled immediately in order to get that glistening sheen.  Sushi with hot rice is just a fishy nightmare.  Plus the salmon skin wasn't really skin.  It seemed like little chunks of cooked salmon.  I have no idea what that roll was supposed to be but the folks at Itto should run a clinic for these guys.

The tekka-temaki (really should be called maguro-temaki as tekka doesn't mean tuna, rather it means "hot iron" or gambling parlor - and yes I'm aware of the color of tuna and/or serving in gambling houses history of sushi as the origin for tekka - this is my personal axe to grind that has nothing to do specifically with this place...), was at least edible, but not quite enjoyable.  Again, the much warmer than room temperature rice ruined it.  At least there was no sticky goop drizzled on it.

I feel bad being so harsh since the servers were very nice.

How can this place possibly have such high reviews?

    ************Response to Owner's Comment************

Thanks for the nice, non-confrontational review.  I appreciate you taking the time out to explain and offer to refund our meal.  But I don't appreciate you broadcasting my check amount, not that there's anything to be ashamed about in having a late night snack on a friday night.  You doing that certainly doesn't encourage me to stop by again.

As for the skin, I've never experienced any sakekawa-maki with any significant amount of hot meat still left on the skin.  In fact, the texture of the skin roll is supposed to elicit a pleasant crunch that contrasts with the soft stickiness of the rice.  I haven't worked in "Jiro's" kitchen, but my sushi experience, travels, and many Japanese friends confirm my position on this point.

As for the rice, it couldn't have been just the cooked salmon skin that made it hot since the rice in the maguro-temaki was also too hot, and I'm quite sure there was nothing cooked in that.

As for the "fishy nightmare" description, I wasn't implying that it was unsafe to eat.  It's the next day and I feel totally fine so I'm not saying that this place is anything less than perfectly sanitary.  I was only stating that when you have hot rice wrapped in seaweed, it releases the "fishy" aroma in the nori which makes the entire roll taste much more fishy than it otherwise would.  Generally, the nice thing about raw fish that is truly fresh is that it is not "fishy" smelling or tasting, but rather characterized by a rich, cool creaminess that is quite satisfying.  Hot rice brings out smells in the nori that are not pleasant.

As for the drizzling and "inside out" rolls, that's just a personal preference.  I generally do not like Americanized sushi.  For the most part, I think the Americanized additions destroy the beautiful, simplistic minimalism that makes the various types of sushi amazing.  Rolls that are too busy and with condiments drizzled all over them muddle the flavors such that you can't really taste anything in particular.  However, this is just my subjective preference, and people are free to love dragon, california, and other American rolls to their heart's content.  Diversity in flavor and taste is what it's all about, and if you do what you do well, which it seems you do looking at the large number of very high reviews, then my review will be balanced out by reviews of happy customers.  The beauty of yelp is in the aggregate rating of an establishment, not in the individual reviews.

As for the "explanations" surrounding the types of maki, I'm perfectly aware of the meaning of makimono, including its origins as a hand scroll containing highly stylized calligraphy, and its later adoption as a term referring to maki-zushi.   The confusion was in your server, as I was trying to explain that I wanted one roll and one temaki, and for some reason we kept getting our lines crossed.

And finally, I won't be responding to any further comments, as I'm not a fan of yelp drama and I usually do a good job avoiding getting drawn into it.

    Yelp On!

I can't lie.  I am a sucker for the sushi buffets around the city.  I just hate feeling like I am still hungry after spending $20+ on sushi, so I am constantly succumbing to the buffet trap.  So, when my friend suggested Rolls N Bowls, by prefacing it with it's really good and affordable, I was willing to give it a try.  It was definitely a drive from the West Loop, but so worth it.  We started with the seaweed salad, which I actually really liked (I had a bad seaweed salad experience last time and wasn't too keen ordering it). We also ordered the Mexican (even if you have a high tolerance for spice, this is a bit much.  I ended up taking out the jalapeno from my last two pieces), Dynamite (just the right amount of kick the presentation with all the broiled pieces of fish was nice) and Tataki (complex but clean flavors that come together really well with the tuna).  All were extremely delicious and the presentation nice.  I had to stop myself from licking my chopsticks!  We also ordered the Bulgogi Bowl with half rice and half veggies for an extra 50cents.  It. Was. Unbelievable.  I would go all the way up north just for that by itself.  The beef was really tender and marinated to perfection.

My friend was right.  It WAS delicious and affordable.  Our bill was around $45 for a lot of food.  I definitely didn't walk away from the meal feeling hungry.  It's also BYOB so it definitely takes the edge off the tab...and encourages you to order a little more, which is never a bad thing!

I will definitely go back and take my other sushi buffet loving friends with me next time.

After that disastrous visit to the Fuji Ya, I needed some fresh tasting sushi to get the bad taste outta my mouth. It's been about a year, and my cousin Lauren has been raving about the sushi at this place.  Matsuya has been their family favorite for a good 30 years, and my aunt was heartbroken when they closed.

But fear not Matsuya followers, Rolls N Bowls has come to save the day!!!  They not only have one location, but next month, Rolls N Bowls Express in Lincoln Square is soon to follow.  Sushi by masses....i like the sound of that!

So Original Rolls N Bowls.  Staff is so kind, very warm and quick to give suggestions to what your palette desires.  We had the honor of having both Tracy and the owner serve us and both here quick with delivering our rolls and clarifying, which of our plethora of rolls.  We ordered the Mango Bliss, the baby Caterpillar, the Turtle, the Tokyo and an octopus roll.  All were very fresh, and the sushi was wrapped nice and tight, so no room for error with the rolls falling apart from soy-sauce- to- mouth.  Warning, the "Babies" of each roll that's offered this option are just another American symbol of our big 10 pound babies born every day in US of A.  Large, ginormous, plump.  So if you order a ton of rolls, try to stick with the Babies so that you can get a vast array of sushi, without having a lot of excess waste. No complaints though on your serving sizes R & B!!!

Parking was easier when we found out the auto repair across the street has an agreement with Rolls N Bowls.

I may not have 48 check-ins like my boy, Phil, does but I'm quite sure in due time that is bound to happen with the well balance of food and stellar hospitality.

Stumbled upon this place last minute by yelping byob japanese in my neighborhood because my gf and I wanted to go out late and catch up.  It's a tiny place, BYOB and closes at midnight!!!  (which is a definite plus).

Only ordered Godzilla and the crunch roll and both were good and the staff was very friendly.  Didn't try anything out of the ordinary but maybe next time. I am excited about the late hours when I'm craving sushi after 9pm now I know where to go.

One of the best sushi restaurants I've been to in Chi!!!

OMG!!!!  A friend recommended this place as her family found this restaurant a few months ago.

After walking, in, it was very tiny but just enough space for about 30 people.  I like places like that.

Decor was nothing out of the ordinary.  However, the service was on point!!!  Great servers!!  Both were friendly and very helpful.

As for the sushi, amazing!!!  So fresh and flavorful!!  We ordered 6 rolls, some were huge and others were small.  For the three of us, it was 2 pieces, not two rolls, too much.  LOL!!  We definitely tore it up!!!

For 6 rolls, for three people, it was only $77.  We had soup and three appetizers as well.

Great deal, easy to access location, awesome service, and fresh and tasty sushi!!

We will be going back soon!!

The restaurant is tiny, but the food and AWESOME service are totally worth it.  (Quick Tip: Make a reservation)

    CUSTOMER SERVICE
I was here for a friend's birthday party (10 guests).  We made a big mess with our attempts of "Saki Bombs", complete with flying saki.  Our server was very personable and helpful in bringing refreshed ice buckets for our drinks (BYOB), cutting up the birthday cake, and instantly replaced an incorrect bubble tea drink order.

    FOOD
Our choices in sushi rolls were very tasty.  We ordered the Caterpillar (eel, cucumber, avocado, mayo, and tempura crumb), Seoul Dragon (tuna, white tuna, avocado, cucumber, spicy mayo & seaweed salad unagi sauce), and a combo platter.  My favorite was the Caterpillar.  Specialty rolls range from ($6-$16).

    BYOB
There is a liquor store a couple stores down if you forgot to bring drinky drinks.  Rolls and Bowls does offer soda drinks and cold bubble tea drinks (with tapioca pearls or coconut).

    SEATING AND SPACE
The seating is very limited in the small, long space.  Your table and area will get very  crowded very fast. All tables have one side with a bench seat running against each wall and the other side individual chairs.

    PARKING
Local street parking.  Not too hard to find a spot, but it may depend on the time/day.

    TIPS
    * Make a reservation ahead of time.
    * Tell the server up front if you need separate checks.

The former workers of Matsuya have graced us with the presence in Rolls N Bowls. Love the inexpensive veggie rolls, parking lot across the street (after 6pm) and general friendliness of the staff.

The vast menu will appeal to hard core sushi lovers and the random friend who is "food conservative". I am ever so glad they opened up both sides so that there is adequate seating.

Only complaint- the gyoza is small! Bigger gyoza to satisfy my gluttonous instincts!

Warning this is a casual, fun, family run place. Do not expect "sophistication" or cloth napkins- save that for the over priced sushi places in Lincoln Park!

I've been here many times since my initial review and the food is really great every time. The mango tango roll is simply one of the best rolls I've ever had and always delicious. The bowls are very delicious and freshly made. And the green tea they serve up is quite a great compliment if you're not byo'ing.
Looks like they may be working on the older half of the dining room so I'm excited to see what they do with it.

YUM!!! we are planning a trip to japan so we started freaking out about japanese food.
I don't dole out the five stars willy nilly but four stars will reveal -- rolls 'n' bowls is where it's at.

My boyfriend describes a foodie as someone who "likes food and is an idiot" so LOL but I sure like food -- not just high-end food -- and rolls 'n' bowls makes me realize I need very little to be a satisfied person. mostly sushi.

I like that the sushi is served at room temp, as someone mentioned -- not in a gross way -- but I just don't care for cold food. the miami would have been spectacular without the sweetish sauce poured all over it.

I know someone mentioned affordability but of course any of the more "special" rolls were around $9 -- I thought that was a little high -- so eating more than two rolls would be around $30. I ended up getting two pieces of salmon nigiri (fresh but the flavor was middling -- why do I always think salmon will be better?) to supplement my spicy tuna and miami.

I am also partial to small spaces so I really liked the hole-in-the-wall atmosphere -- I think I might do a birthday dinner here as long as you could keep it under 6 people. We had five and anything over 4 you should be prepared for a wait.

What can I say? it's really, really good. I called ahead, thinking I had the jump on the place with our reservation, but we pretty much still had to wait ten min as the other patrons took their sweet-ass time to get up and OUT of our way.

also we went there at like 9:30 p.m.

Word of warning:  the only thing hotter than the Emergency maki at Rolls N Bowls is the scalding hot water that shoots out of the restroom sink with no warmup whatsoever.  Wash your hands at your own risk.

With other more outstanding choices closer to home, I probably wouldn't come back to Rolls N Bowls, but it was fine.  Not great or terrible, just mediocre.  That Emergency roll was fairly tasty, though nearly lethal.  The calamari, however, is utterly flavorless.  Just a little salt and pepper in the batter would make some difference.  I did enjoy my shrimp yakisoba--some nice vegetables and a sweetish, gingery sauce.

But with bare-bones interior and service and hit-or-miss food, there is nothing to entice me to return.

I don't know how I never noticed this place before, but it's easy to miss since the space is so small. But i really recommend it! The service was ok, a little slow at times, but the waitress was funny, nice, and chill to let us wait awhile because one member of our party was running late.

All I had was some plain udon soup, a strawberry bubble smoothie, and some edamame...since i wasn't very hungry. Everything I had was delicious, and the portions to me felt just right according to the price (get the bubble smoothies, they are so yum!).

The restaurant was pretty empty at the time which made for nice conversation with friends.

I could seriously live on that udon soup alone and be happy. I want to go back and get that every time but I'm tempted to try their tempura and teriyaki dishes. They have a TON of sushi plates, but I can't eat sushi without feeling sick, so it's one thing I have to stay away from.

Just come here, it's a cute little neighborhood spot that seems to get missed by the other hot spots in the city. That's fine with me, it means I get more soup.

My friend introduced this place to me. We wanted sushi around her area so we came here to eat on a Saturday evening. Surprisingly it wasn't packed as I thought. We made reservations thinking it would be very crowded but it turned out to be the opposite. Maybe it was just a slow Saturday night?

All my friends ordered sushi while some also ordered their bibimbop. My fiance and I shared 5 rolls and 4 negiri pieces together. It was very good! My favorite was the simple salmon and avocado! The Emergency roll was VERY spicy. My fiance and I can handle spicy but boy this was very spicy! so if you are up for some hot food, definitely try this roll. The Tenth Wonder and spicy salmon roll were okay. I do like the Tenth Wonder roll though. We also had the baby Tokyo which was good. It was pretty sweet due to the eel sauce. The 4 negiri pieces we had were salmon and yellowtail. They're average. I really really like the prices for these sushi. It is not expensive!

Overall I had a good time. We ended up staying at the restaurant a little longer to chat and the restaurant were cool with that. They even came around to refill our water and tea!

Very casual place. Good price. Good sushi!

Tasty Japanese food, reasonable prices, attentive service, cute lil space.

I had a steak tempura bowl and split a roll combo (california + spicy tuna) with my friend. I opted for half veg/half rice (+.50) in my bowl and the broc + carrots were steamed just right. Eat your vegetables ppl.

Edamame appetizer was also good. Tea refills arrived fresh, frequently and not too hot to drink.

I am a pretty piggy eater but I couldn't quite finish my bowl. It's not enormous but I was more than satisfied.

After the meal we stuck around a while to blab with Tracy. She is a very friendly and cool person and I promised to give RnB some yelp love so here it is! Keep doin' what you're doing guys, hope to return soon :)

    Good cheap sushi restaurant.

We had planned to go to Tampopo, but were put off by the prices as our friends were budgeting so we headed down to Rolls and Bowls.

We tried the calamari app, which was perfectly cooked and tasty, hubby had assorted sushi that he touted to be fresh and tasty and I had the Bebimbop, it was nowhere near authentic but was tasty and well presented none the less. We had the Donkey Kong dessert and it was a little overwhelming but tasty to share, I realized I don't like Tempura Banana but the cornflakes and ice cream were fun.

All in all a good experience and would go back if we are in that neck of the woods!

Yay I'm a fan, but only for their Spicy Chirashi bowl.  Yup, just their Spicy Chirashi.

I'm not into all the fancy rolls, with all their fancy names, and their cute plating.  I've tried a fair amount of them, and their ok, but if you want to be able to taste the fish and all its goodness with a touch of spice, and a generous amount of rice than try the Spicy Chirashi or plain Chirashi.  It's worth it :)

Have fun listening into other peoples conversation while you wait too, its kinda tight in there!

Came with my sister and brother and just not impressed! There was only one other table there, but they seem to be done and it took quite awhile for our food to arrive.

Shrimp Tempura - It was ok, can't really go wrong with this.

Steak Teriyaki - The steak was thin and overcooked. We asked if we can get it medium and she was basically it's cooked well done because it was so thin. Pass!

Arizona Maki - This was pretty good if it didn't have the cilantro in it since I don't like it. My sister liked this because of the cilantro. She said it was refreshing.

    Shitake Maki - Standard

Spider Maki - They did not use soft shell crab like another reviewer stated! BOO!

Turtle Roll - This was pretty good, but the wasabi was a bit strong.

Overall, I just think there was much better sushi out there and closer to me.

You got to be kidding me here!!
I ordered the spicy ramen here and guess what I got? The instant ramen!! Seriously! That tasted exactly the same as the instant Korean ramen - the Shin Ramen!!! I even found the dried carrot pieces and mushroom pieces in the soup!! I will def not gonna spend another stupid 6 dollars on these cheap instant ramen ever again!!!

There's only two places I regularly eat Sushi in Chicago and this is one of them! The Crazy Sumo is rad!

I refer to this place "Boats & Ho's". That's how good it is. They put in the man hours. They study the science. They even put liquid paper on a bee. Okay. They didn't. That doesn't change the fact that this place is awesome! One of my favorite sushi places in Chicago! Do you see my exclamation points!!!!!

I'd give them 5 stars but they have some weird stuff going on with their "other" dining room. It's fully furnished & set-up like the main restaurant (the place you currently dine in is small and looks like a carry-out room) but nobody is allowed in main part?! The lights are off and the door is locked even though it's all connected?! Maybe it's haunted...but at least acknowledge it exists and it's weird not to open it up and explain to the customers why you can't eat there...

Also the BYOB thing makes me feel awkward. I read it was BYOB. I brought beer. I wasn't offered a glass. I drank my beer out of a can. They pretended not to see me drinking it. Maybe my beer is haunted, too.

This place is terrific! I have yet to find better sushi. All of it is good. The service is the best I have ever received in a sushi restaurant. The seating is a little cramped but they apparently open a second room during high traffic times.
I am willing to drive 50+ miles to come here on occasion.

    5 Stars!

This place is small but I love it.  Good food friendly staff.  Everything was deelish from the rice bowls to the sushi to the dessert.

An awesome this is that they're open til midnight but on the down side is that they open at 5p on most days.  It's right in my neck of the woods so I can get some good food late. I've tried almost everything on the menu & have not yet been disappointed. The tempura ice cream is a must for dessert, so leave some room for it.

I had a pretty ok experience here.

Came here mainly in search of some good ramen. I read somewhere in one review that the sizes were about 32 ounces, this is way exaggerated. Even the waitress said the portions were small. Noodle quality wasn't anything special, reminded me of instant stuff. The one thing that was good was the broth both in the spicy and non spicy versions. Probably more of an appetizer than a meal.

Ordered some sushi as well, got the Seoul Dragon and Tokyo roll, was quality stuff. 4 bowls of ramen and 2 rolls after tax and tip was about $50?   Was satisfied but wasn't a great experience.
