Very disappointing! Â Second time; and won't be returning. Â Arrived last Saturday night. Â After waiting 5+ minutes at the hostess desk; we gave up and seated ourselves. Â Waited an additional 10 minutes for the waitress to come over. Â Unfortunately, for us, she was too busy eating her dinner at the end of the bar. Â Now, it's been 20 minutes; and seats became available at the bar. Â The bartender was wonderful, when we explained how we were ignored for the last 20 minutes; he more than made up for it. Â How can management allow their waitstaff to eat dinner at the bar and ignore their patrons??
Review Source:If I could give this place a negative star I would. Â Greeter not friendly. Â They sat me down said someone would be with me, I sat there for about 7 mins as waiters and waitress walked by me. Â They were not busy so there was no reason for the lack of service. Â I would not recommend this place to anyone!!! Â I went a block down to Rockafellas where I had a great meal and amazing service!!!!
Review Source:wife & i looking for a cold beer & nice burger in low-key friendly place one early midweek eve and despite generally being Swampscott snobs and avoiding most things Lynn (excepting Blue Ox, Mildred's and Capitol Diner) we decided to try something in Wyoma Square, which turned out to be Rolly's after wife turned down Lazy Dog due to outward appearances - also a bit curious after very positive fairly recent Boston Globe review
struggled to find street parking amid gloom and muddy snow banks then hiked awhile past decidely low rent storefronts but still pretty convenient location in West Lynn and appears to be parking behind "business block" - hesitant still on sidewalk as Rolly's presents clean and care for but well not so ... exciting
so how pleasing to step in to lively well lighted cutely decorated well organized and professionally managed family dining heaven with bar scene bright TVs Keno cards on high tops alongside warm little votive candles - and they were busssy! Â must have been Wednesday dinner for 2 special including bottle of wine for what $25? Â sweet young energetic server Colby treated us like neighbors talking up her favorites and especially Tacos on Tuesday - we'd been seated right away despite capacity crowd, and Colby remained attentive and pleasant but never hurrying or obtrusive all night long - my 2 Tuckermans Ales served from hyped up glycol cooled tap (as if i could tell any difference) while wife immensely enjoyed draft Blue Moon with big slice of orange - big fresh burgers came cooked to order after very little wait, frozen fries - hers sweet potato - served hot & crispy - accompaniments dressings pickles all fresh & tasty
and all this, experience service ambiance 3 beers and good quality burgers for ... $36.85?? Â hello! Â after years raising noses passing through the Square and avoiding Rolly's and the like, move over, we're moving in! Â thank you all at the tavern for a very fine evening!
First time here. Relatively quiet, Sun. afternoon. Mainly a sports type bar, which is fine. Had plenty of choices on where to sit..either at the bar, also lot of high tops around bar area, or the dining room area. Me and my bf sat at high tops, next to window. There's a few tv's and big projection screen. They have Keno and music in the background. Nice, comfortable atmosphere for a sports-type bar place. I had the steak n cheese wrap, light on the peppers/onions + fries. I didnt say light on the steak, well that's what it seemed like, plenty of cheese. Definitely not worth $8. Could of gotten a better wrap else where, with more meat in it. Bf had a burger and sweet potato fries. He said burger was very good and the fries too. Both had 2 cokes. Service was good. I'd give them another shot. I based my review on what I ate, other than that, very good experience.
Review Source:My family loves this place, but I'm a vegetarian and there is nothing for me to eat here unless I get a salad and beg them to make me a grilled cheese. Â The menu is just too outdated to keep young people coming in. Â I know it's pub food, but could you at least add the obligatory veggie friendly pasta dish?
Review Source:I had a bad day at work and needed to go out to eat and to have a drink (I'm not much of a drinker so I assure you my day was awful!) to exorcise the last of the devil that I became after a seriously shitty 9:30 am meeting.
We arrived at 7:30 on a Wed night and the place was PACKED - we had to wait 10 minutes for a table for two - though it was only half full once we left an hour or so later. The waitress was dutiful but not noticably friendly or concientous - I had to ask for a drink refill and for the bill and in between she never did ask us how our meal was or if we wanted anything else. Also I'm not a drinker and could have used a friendly suggestion or two on fruity drinks but she was absolutely no help.
The food was decent, I had a steak and cheese sub that came with a very small portion of meat and a ton of bread. I wish the roll were distinctive but it was a generic soft sandwich roll you could have purchased at Market Basket. The sweet potato fries were decent but I could have done without the sugar they sprinkled on them.
The Chunky Monkey Martini is delicious!
I would have really liked to rate this place higher since Lynn is so under valued and we live nearby, but the lackluster service kind of dampened things for me. On the plus side, the place was recently expanded and renovated so I liked the environment very much AND there are a ton of flat screen televisions (not really my deal but good if there is a game you'd like to watch while eating).
I go here often with my Friend - and the food is great - and the drinks are even better. Â
The prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly.
They JUST remodeled the place so it looks great and if you dont want to sit at the bar there is plenty of seating.
Great place to watch the game.
I remember when Rolly's used to be down the street toward Flax Pond. Â I liked it then. Â Now it's just alright. Â Nothing too fancy. Â They serve good food, but there aren't any notable drink specials. Â
I know bar owners are hurting for multiudes of reasons, but drink specials bring in customers who wouldn't normally c
I think we went on an off day for brunch, but the food was pretty good. The restaurant is small but considering that it was once a dive bar what can one expect? The staff was really friendly even though all the issues(certain foods not being available, things like that) were out of their control.
The portions were huge, and the place was almost spotless. We were seated immediately and although the food took a while to get to us the drinks were flowing and tasty.
We will be back, maybe for a different meal next time though..
My boyfriend's a Lynner. Aside from Lynn being known as the "city of sin", it just not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Hell, you can even find a good spot for food and drinks in most neighborhoods. Another plus? Normal people. No cosmo sipping snobs in this bar. Last night a guy who was happy about a local high school winning a hockey game bought the bar a round. Thanks buddy. You're the man. Â Try to think of the last time someone bought you a round who didnt have an agenda. ... Right.. get back to me on that one.
I've been in to eat twice and I have to say, its really good bar food. I'm a fan of bars. I'm a fan of bars with food that doesn't make you want to book an EKG in the morning because they just fry everything.
I have had the iceberg wedge salad with bacon and blue cheese and the turkey tips dinner. Both are done simply and done well. What more can you ask for at a neighborhood bar? Good food. Great service.
Ya know what else I love about Rolly's aside from the cute atmosphere? They don't rake you over the coals on prices. Mark and I went in last night for dinner and had drinks and both ordered the turkey tips with rice and vegetables-the bill was just over 30 dollars. They also run a special on Wednesdays for 2 entrees and a bottle of wine for $19.99! That's pretty much unheard of ...
So stop in, grab a table, grab a drink and get your grub on...
I remember the old rolly's from wheni was a little girl..my fam & i used to always go for breakfast.. The new rolly's is really great! the inside, although small, has a good vibe & the food is excellent, especially foor a bar. My favorite thing ther eis their fried zucchini which is delicious..and the drinks are awesome!
Review Source:rolly's is a place that continues to improve and re-invent itself- that being a good thing. Â Good bar has improved to great restaurant, with reasonably priced apps and entrees. Â best sweet potato fries I have ever had. Â They serve brunch on weekends as well which I would also recommend.
Review Source:Rolly's is a great place to watch any type of Boston sports.
My best friend and I started coming here because her boyfriend bartends a few nights a week.
I think that if it wasn't so far from Somerville, we'd be at Rolly's like it was our day job (which, I wish it was).
To break it down, Rolly's has great food and they are always adding items to the menu. My personal favorite are the steak tips - DELICIOUS! The drinks are reasonably priced and the cocktail drink menu contains over 100 options! There's keno, and the naked girl game (finding the difference between two pictures - it's a classic bar game for those of you still in teh dark)... and did I mention that the game (whichever one it should be) is always on.
Rolly's is always filled with friendly locals who provide for great entertainment.
I definitely recommend it if you're in the area!
