The Roof Garden

A good lunch oasis to bring your more high maintenance guests.  Surrounded by vegetation and a seemingly endless number of servers to wait on you hand and foot, it feels more like a tropical resort than an L.A. rooftop.  When even the bread basket includes your choice of five different breads, you know it is going to be an indulgent meal.  Of course, at $30 per lunch entree, you are definitely paying for all that service and ambiance.  The kitchen actually screwed up a couple of our orders, such as including an ingredient one of our party was allergic to when they had said they would leave it off, which kind of surprised me at a place like this, but they were pretty gracious about trying to fix it when they found out.  The food itself was solid and very well presented, but this is definitely a place you come more for the environment than the eating.  I'm not sure I would go out of my way to visit, but if you are in the area and need to impress someone with expensive tastes, the Roof Garden is a good option.

Eating on a beautiful building's rooftop on a delightful summer day - If you don't love this idea, we can't hang out.

The Peninsula has never disappointed me - their afternoon tea is amazing for special occasions, and The Roof Garden is nice for a more casual outing - a very "low-key", peaceful and private space, and service  is also  friendly and accommodating.

My only complaint is that much of the garden's gorgeous view is mostly hidden behind various shrubbery. eeh.

Nevertheless, last Sunday's brunch was my treat - and the whole experience was pleasant enough that I didn't feel ripped-off when leaving.

Had a dinner here with my best friend. She has special dietary restrictions but the Roof Garden was more than accommodating. The food wasn't anything to die for - but it was solid and tasty and huge portions.  I'd go back!
