ONLY EAT HERE IF YOU WANT TO Â WASTE YOUR MONEY!!
With that said, I am not a complainer. I always look at the most positive side of every situation but I have to warn those who are going to eat here that it is a HUGE waste of money. I went recently and ordered the 10 oz. New York Strip. The waiter said we made a mistake and cooked a 16 oz instead, good deal right? No. It was so under cooked, I mean still red and cool inside, not what I imagined medium well to be. The waiter was kind enough to take it back... well it still was not cooked but at that point I was so hungry I ate around the undercooked portion. My mom ordered the mushroom risotto, the mushrooms were inedible. The only piece of meat that seemed okay was the Filet Mignon. The service was lousy and the presentation of the food, for the cost, was even more disappointing. Â Long story short, they cannot handle a large group. Our food came out at different times, my dad waited 10 mins after the food arrived for my other family members (there were 11 of us total). I could rant on, and on but let me get to the point. If you want to get a good steak and have a good time do not go here. Find somewhere better like Stoney Brook or Il Forno. Should have stayed Louka's Diner...
The Dry Aged Ribeye is the best in central Jersey. I have to say that Rue Noir is on par with some of the best Steakhouses in NYC. From the atmosphere to the wait staff to the incredible food that awaits your palette. Your taste buds will love you when you try Rue Noir. Nick Reneris the owner of this awesome establishment will personally hand select and recommend the best Dry Aged Ribeye for you. I have been to many steakhouses and no one does this. The experience that Nick and his team gives you is nothing short of pure excellence. Finally a New York City Steakhouse comes to Central Jersey. You will not be disappointed.
Review Source:My husband and I took my mother for a pre-mother's day dinner. We arrived on the spur of the moment, they were able to take us, they took our order with dispatch, and we had a delicious and cheery dinner. We all had rib-eye steaks, which were delicious. They cooked my mother's as she ordered it: blue; they cooked ours as we ordered it: medium rare. And the baked potatoes and creamed spinach were also delicious. One of the specials they offered was a gluten-free pasta. So, it looks like they have fixed the problem a previous reviewer had. No, it is not cheap, but good steak is not cheap. Our waiter, Omar, was excellent, and we enjoyed our meal thoroughly.
Review Source:Dinner for 2 cost us $150. food was good, but for the price we should have been wowed. Â also, the night was not busy when we went, and we were seated in the bar area. again, for top pricing we should have been seated in the quieter dining area. The chateaubriand was very good (not excellent) everything else was ok. If the experience matched the pricing, or the pricing matched the experience all would be good, but it did not. the waitress was very nice. The manager lurks around like a bouncer, which feels kind of creepy, he should at least introduce himself if he's going to do that.
Review Source:We drove past this one day en route to another restaurant and decided to stop because we are desperate for a new favorite restaurant in town. I have to say that we probably will not be back.
DECOR: They did the best they could, but it's still hard to stomach paying $40+ per person for dinner in a diner. Â
DRINKS: This is where they excelled, the drinks we ordered off their drink specials menu were superb. Kudos to the bartender.
FOOD: Appetizers were bland (mushrooms, french onion soup). We both got the filet, which was pretty good actually, but did not love that they charge $4 for béarnaise sauce. That should come with the steak. It's eggs, vinegar and tarragon.  Our flourless chocolate cake was frozen and clearly from restaurant depot. Not worth $8.
VALUE: If you want to go out for a nice dinner and are willing to spend money, go to Char, same prices, exponentially better food/atmosphere.
OVERALL: With the exception of the filet's (which were great, but not as good as Char), everything else we ordered we could have gotten at TGI Fridays and probably been happier with.
Met my wife for a drink after work one night, with the thought of staying for dinner. Â From the outside, it still looks like the diner, and on the inside, despite dressing it up with granite tile sheets and dark wood floors, The ceiling is too low, and it's finished with a shiny bronze faux tin ceiling. Â It's too bright with the window blinds open, and too dark with them closed. Â We both felt what we can only describe as an 'uncomfortable' ambiance. Â They're trying hard, but swinging and missing. Â Servers were well meaning but didn't have a clue about the menu nor could they describe the happy hour special, and we assume they're the same staff they had in the diner. Â Nice, friendly, but clearly not trained in restaurant service. Â Asked 5 times if we were ready to order before we had our drinks. Â We ordered the hummus as an appy...it was oily and chunky, heavy on the garlic. Â The rolls they served with it were nice - crisp on the outside and light inside - not sure how those rolls were gluten free??? Â Fortunately it's not a problem for us. Â Anyhow, we decided not to stay for dinner and won't be back. Â We thought it was pricey too -- $35 for 2 drinks and a plate of hummus. Â Menu entrees went up to $48. Â No thanks, too many other good places in the area (Char, Pluckemin, etc.) that are comfortable, have great atmosphere and service, and do it up right. Â Won't be back.
Review Source:DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU HAVE GLUTEN INTOLERANCE.
I know that things can be a bit hectic when a new restaurant opens, but what we got was really unacceptable.
First of all, it is quite obvious it was once a diner, they just added dark finished on the walls over the chrome. Â The light over the (cramped) tables were really bright.
Our waiter was a kind soul but completely clueless and did not know about anything on the menu. Â His serving skills were virtually nonexistent, but at least he was a pleasant enough person
The food itself was bland. Â Our appetizers did not arrive at the same time, and the app that was forgotten came out pretty much with the entrees. Â
My family member who took the restaurants word that everything but a few items was gluten free (they talk in the newspaper article about how people with allergies do not have to worry about cross contamination in their kitchen) became violently ill when she got home.
Decent concept, horrible execution.
This pleasant and comfortable steakhouse in Branchburg has successfully been transformed from a family diner to an attractive continental restaurant. Â It had its grand opening Friday, March 1, 2013. Â We dined there a few days later and had a marvelous time. The restaurant's menu features many gluten-free items. Â Omar, our nice waiter, suggested that we start with the bacon and cream cheese stuffed mushrooms. My husband especially liked them. They were tasty. I preferred the refreshing hummus with the warm tandoori naan (tandoori oven cooked flat bread) strips. We both liked the beet and greens salad, but would have preferred roasted beets as the ones used seem to have come from a can. (Other restaurants spoil us with locally roasted beets...) Â I also would have enjoyed a little more goat cheese on the salad. Â My husband enjoyed his entree of duck with pomegranate sauce and sauteed spinach. I enjoyed my small tenderloin fillet with creamed spinach. Â Even though I ordered the small one, I brought home half as we had ordered so much food. For dessert, we split a small creme brulee. The staff may still be a little new, but they did a decent job. We think that this restaurant and its service will continue to improve and do even better. Â It is now one of my top five local restaurants. Reservations are good idea; they are on the Open Table app. They are not yet open for lunch, but they open at noon on Sundays. Â Closed Mondays. Â No Website yet. Â If you use Facebook, look for their Facebook page under Rue Noir Steakhouse.
Review Source:We moved to Branchburg two and a half years ago coming from Monmouth County which had an abundance of restaurants. We have been disappointed with the limited amount of restaurants in the area. We have had inconsistent meals at Matt's Red Rooster Grill, went a few times to Char, which we were not impressed by the quality steaks. We travel out of the area to Lambertville, New Hope area. Then we heard about a new Steakhouse in our town. We went the first unofficial week they were open and were so impressed by this restaurant.
You first walk in and see a really nice bar, very sleek. The ambiance was really nice, you feel like you stepped out of Branchburg into a cafe in Paris
My wife and I ordered the Chateaubriand. It was prepared perfectly. We had the peppercorn sauce which was amazing. I had PEI mussels which were fantastic. My wife had the cocktail shrimp from the raw bar, she loved it. They brought out fresh home made bread which was also excellent.
We went again last night and the place was packed, I guess the word got out. This time we went with 3 other families. Everyone raved about the steaks, service, atmosphere, and the wine list.
We are so happy we now have a local restaurant that we love. I work in Midtown Manhattan and frequent great steakhouses, this ranks at that level - quality food, great atmosphere and much better on price.
