As a vegetarian I was a bit afraid to go here. But someone I like was having a birthday and its their favorite. I was pleasantly pleased. Great food, wine and service!

If you do not have an amazing meal at Ruth Chris you only have yourself to blame. They pride themselves in getting orders right and prefer you tell them if they did get it wrong so they can remedy it quickly! Special Occasions are a treat to hold at Ruth Chris. They make it special - our reservations were on Open Table so I stated it we were celebrating a 30th birthday. The hostess, our waiter and the manager wished birthday greetings to our guest. The menus were specially printed with birthday girls name and birthday greetings. The dessert we ordered Creme Brulee had Happy 30th Birthday written in chocolate on the dessert plate. The service was top notch and the meal delectable. I would not hesitate to recommed Ruth Chris South Barrington!

I try to make it too Ruth's Chris about once a month since it opened.  The bone-in strip or the lamb chops are my usual fare; and have never been anything less than superb.  Service is aligned with the quality of the food and the prices.  High recommended.

    This place is pretty good.

To me, presentation and texture are an important part of dining, not only taste and proper cooking.  While my steak was cooked to perfection, it, like the one in the pictures on this site, it was served on a tiny plate.  I don't get it.  I had to keep the steak from sliding off the plate and onto the floor/my lap several times.

The strawberry basil gimlet would have been better made with a basil flavored vodka.  It was pretty blah.  The feel of the dining room reminds me of some old time banquet halls.  The carpet and curtains feel old, but not in a sleek vintage way.

Still, my steak was great (ordered out the salt), and I liked all of the food I tried, althought I wanted a little more variety on the appetizers.  My server was very attentive.  I wanted this to be a slam dunk 5 star but it just wasn't.

I felt at home noticing the masterfully framed oil painting of Ruth proudly hung above the host station as we checked in for a table without a reservation on a midweek winter evening in the northwest burbs of Chicago.

We were promptly seated in an ample sized booth on the perimeter of the main dining room which afforded us the privacy for great conversation without distractions and attentive service.

The food and drink was A+ starting with a large plate of fried calamari with an incredible Thai chili-red pepper sauce.  We then shared a Ceasar salad before getting down to what we came for:  the "meat and potatoes".  Our filets (what else at R's C) were exactly as ordered, mine with grilled shrimp on top.  The seafood was a worthy companion my petite filet on the hot china.

The nice thing about Ruth's Chris is that you know exactly what you are in for and you get it every time:  an excellent meal in a classy atmosphere at about $75 a head.

I can't even begin to describe how much I love this place. The service was amazing-- our waiter and his "assistant" did everything they could to make us feel welcome--and the food was even better. Seriously, SO GOOD. Melt in your mouth delicious. I ordered the Caesar salad, filet (that was huge and buttery and cooked perfectly), mashed potatoes (tasted a little bit like they were out of a box and I buy Wal-Mart box brand so either Wal-Mart knows what's up or RC has some work to do), and the absolute best, most delicious peanut butter and dark chocolate ganache mousse cake that I've ever had. Seriously, I was ready to ask for 10 to go. It is well worth the price tag; my meal ended up being close to $65-$70. I would gladly pay for it again, if not just for the mousse cake.

Also, complimentary tampons in the bathroom = 100%, A+.

The hubby and I ate at Ruth's Chris a couple weeks ago for our Anniversary. My better half was jacked... he had been looking at the online menu for days and talked about it almost non-stop. He had been to a Ruth's Chris Steak House before and was excited to get his hands on a piece of meat again.

My expectations were much lower. Last year, on our Anniversary, we went to Jameson's Steak House in C'ville... our meal was not good and soon after, the place closed. So, I was worried.

We had a reservation at 5:00 for two... we arrived at 5:00 and we were seated immediately. I ordered a filet with bleu cheese crust, sweet potato casserole and lobster bisque. The hubbster ordered a filet, mashed potatoes, mushrooms and lobster bisque.

The Lobster Bisque was AMAZING. When it arrived, I noticed there was a big chunk of lobster in the bowl... I wasn't sure if I should mix it into the bisque or not... I decided to save "the best for last" and eat the bisque first. I was so surprised to find that the lobster chunk was not the only lobster in the bowl. There were other chunks floating around in the bowl. Ah-Maze-Ing.

The filet was also out of this world... I ordered it medium rare... it came to the table more rare than medium rare however, the plate are so damn hot the filet cooked up to it's medium rare status in no time. It was fantastic. It melted in my mouth. The blue cheese crust was a wonderful addition.

The Sweet Potato Casserole was just okay. I make a mean sweet potato casserole every year for Thanksgiving (my husband often tells people he married me for my sweet potato casserole) and Ruth's Chris casserole was not even close to the goodness of my own recipe. The hubbies mashed potatoes and mushrooms were seriously delicious. I mis-ordered.

Believe it or not, we decided to order dessert. The hubby ordered the bread pudding and I ordered the chocolate mousse cheesecake. The cheesecake was good but I was so full, I couldn't fully enjoy it. My hub loved the bread pudding. Loved it!

Ruth's Chris was a wonderful dining experience. It was quite expensive but I enjoyed it so much, I am already making plans to get back there.

Oh, and our waitress was amazing. Top notch and exactly how waitresses are supposed to be.

We went on a Sunday evening and got to take advantage of the special Restaurant Week menu they featured. $44 for a 3 course meal - a truly awesome deal considering their regular prices!

My filet came sizzling in dish of butter,  yes, that may not sound appealing to some but trust me - you WANT it to come with that butter. As the steak continued to cook on the dish a perfect, crispy, buttery exterior formed on the meat which I proclaimed "was the best part!". Even myself, being a condiment freak, decided this filet needed absolutely nothing. It was packed with flavor.

Sweet potato casserole for a side accompaniment...even on my poorest of poor days I could order a side of this to go for my dinner and be content. Its really delicious.

My family member's filet unfortunately had to be sent back to the kitchen 2 times to get it cooked to his liking. Something he said has never happened in all the times he's eaten there. The manager promptly came up to the table to apologize profusely and his meal was on the house. Also, two in our group ordered soup which came out luke warm. blech!!

Service was all around extremely professional and it was a wonderfully luxurious dinner experience!

My GF took me here for my birthday last week, after I'd been hinting at it for awhile.  First time here, I'd come here again if someone was paying, but not on my own dime.  I'd give it 3.5 stars.

I love ribeye's, so I got the Bone in Ribeye special with salad, mashed potatoes and dessert.  My GF got the lamb chops.  All the entrees come on a sizzling plate.  Our server Tim repeated this over and over again so we wouldn't get burned.

I've had better steaks.  It was seared very nicely, and drenched with butter.  But it just didn't wow me for the price.  I ordered medium rare, it was more medium well.  The caeser salad was really good.  I liked the parmesan cheese they put on it.  The garlic Mashed potatoes were drenched in butter too.  Dessert was a peanut butter chocolate something with berries and creme.  Really good.

I had one of my GF's lamb chops.  Those were good, but a little under seasoned to me.  Not gamy and cooked medium rare (she asked for medium)

We shared a blueberry mojito.  She loved it.  It was good, just to fruity for my palate.

The service is top notch.  Tim was very attentive and the bus boy always had our water full.

I actually prefer this Ruth's Chris location to that of downtown Chicago.

The booths here will make you and your lady feel like King and Queen; they are ridiculously big. But I like the fact that they give you privacy and intimacy from the main dining room.

The service is just as professional.

And the steaks are just as buttery and charred as the ones you'll sink your carnivorous teeth into at any Ruth's Chris.

I had the Dry Aged Prime Bone-in Kansas Strip Steak; the thing weighed more than my puppy.

It was dee-lish...a heart attack on a plate....and worth every calorie it erased from hours of exercise!

I won't lie. I've had a few dreams about that steak since my last visit.

Ruth's Chris always delivers - no matter where I travel, I always can get an outstanding meal at a Ruth's Chris Steak House.  Barrington restaurant has always provided excellent service and a memorable dining experience.  We celebrated Christmas alone together before the holiday and were allowed to enjoy a long, delicious meal and each other's company without too much interruption by wait staff.  The cowboy rib eye is always my favorite and the wine list was excellent.

    .....

    (5 min just went by)

There are no words to describe the meal I had at Ruth's Chris.

Everything was done well, wonderful service, perfect setting, the most delicious steakhouse fare I've ever had. We were so happy with our experience here. I'd LOVE to say I'll be back often, but I probably won't, which makes me sad. :(

Every time I go its always the same, good service, good food and if you want to save a little money they have a special that is quite reasonable which include steak and shrimp, soup or salad, one side and dessert. I've only been there one time when the service was not up to par and compared  to most  other restaurant it would be above and beyond.
Our server (Nina) did everything we asked for even when we wanted to change some of our order. She was there when you needed her and gone when you just wanted to visit with your dinner companion.
Its so nice to come to a restaurant that still prides itself in service and quality.
The chocolate sin cake is to die for!!!!!!

To celebrate our new found addmissions into the homeowners club, my fiance and I decided it was time to go to Ruth's Chris. I mean after all the references in the rap songs we listened too...I had to be good right?

Tuesday night, we pull up and the parking lot is packed! We had reservations for 7pm. We were seated after 5-10 minutes of waiting. The staff was friendly and didnt seem stuck up.

Now to the most important part..the food. We had the following:

    - 2 raspberry rosemary cosmo - delicious, i dont drink often but the alcohol flavor was masked extremely well

    - stuffed mushrooms with crab - 4 pieces, big mushrooms, delicious
-fiance had the Ruth's classic - winter veg soup, mashed potatoes, and ribeye. The soup was demolished with a blink of an eye. The steak was cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes were average.

-I had the 6 oz. sirloin with crab legs - this steak is on my list as one of the best steaks i've ever had. It was cooked perfectly, flavorful, juicy. The crab legs were seasoned well with the garlic butter.

-side of au gratin potatoes - looks plain, but tasted better than the mashed potatoes
-chocolate lava cake w/ice cream - the worst part of the meal. the cake was too chocolatey and powdery.

I had a complete meal as my leftover. The waitress we had was extremely helpful in recommending things for us to try. I would go back for a special occasion, just cant justify the price. We spent about 170 with tax and tip.

Definitely one of my favorite places to go when I am craving any type of steak, I have had pretty much all of their cuts of beef and all of them are cooked perfectly to your order and melts in your mouth! We use open table to make reservations and are always seated right away, service is great, glasses are always filled. Wine, cocktails and dessert are also spectacular.  Although I did try their Shrimp along with my steak and I ordered fish as an entre and will only be ordering the steak in the future.

This is probably the best steak I have ever had. I do suggest ordering your steak a little bit more rare than what you would usually prefer since it may come out tThe sweet potato casserole I ordered was also devoured in about 5 seconds. The service is really good and my waitress came around to check on my table frequently.

Ruth's Chris is a business dinner favorite of mine.  The steaks are made of top quality beef and are always cooked to perfection... the melted butter on top doesn't hurt the deliciousness either.  On a recent visit, I tried the Kansas City Strip Steak cooked medium and it was perfection, and the au gratin potatoes and steam broccoli were both very good side dishes as well.  They also have a very competitively priced and expansive wine list which always makes the meal even more enjoyable.

I think that what truly sets Ruth's Chris apart though is their staff.  I have eaten at this location on multiple occasions and I have never had a bad waiter.  They are always full of helpful suggestions from wine pairings to appetizers and steaks. They have never steered me in the wrong direction.  They are also very patient with larger groups and are very gracious.

I look forward to eating here again soon and am glad that I get the opportunity to eat here regularly.

I frequent this place on average twice a month for business with local Physicians.
The service has always been top notch, pleasant, friendly and professional.
I have never had to wait for a drink to be refilled or wait an unusual length of time for the entree...and .food is always great! Clean and inviting atmosphere...

Dinner at Ruth's Chris is a glorious event.  Every visit is an exceptional experience always to be remembered.  This is my fourth visit to this R's CSH in South Barrington.  My first several visits to Ruth's Chris SH were in Columbus and Cleveland, OH.  The experience was the identical.

This is an upscale restaurant that is perfect for special events or a secluded dinner.

    SUMMARY.
    1. The staff is attentive, polite, creative, friendly, and accommodating.
    2. The atmosphere echoes to every patron, "you're special" and be prepared to be treated as such.
    3. Every steak selection I've had was prepared perfectly and "delicious, succulent, and scrumptious" just aren't enough to describe it.
    4. R'sC excels for special occasions, including pre-ordered flowers and notes of your favorite beverages waiting at your special selected table or booth when you arrive.
    5. I am "steak" man and I've had steaks all over our great country, including the South, Southwest and West.  In my opinion Ruth's Chris Steak House unequivocally prepares and serves the best steaks in the United States.

3 1/2 stars? The boyfriend took me here for our anniversary a few weeks ago and had we had a wonderful time.

First things first, I love half circle booths along the walls. Intimate and comfortable. Food wise, the stuffed mushrooms and filet mignon were amazing. Our server was great and kept the lively night going.

A few things though (all drink related) that put a slight damper on things. The boyfriend asked for some champs to be chilling at the table for us when we arrived. Instead, our server gave us drink menus and was confused when the bf asked where the champaign was. She went to check on what was going on and came back later with it saying she found it sitting on the bar.....um..ok... The other slight damper was about the glass of pinot I ordered. At the first sip I thought something was wrong with it. I didn't want to bother the server about our beverages again so I just let it be and left it more then half full. Server never asked why I didn't finish it or if I liked it. In the end I guess the pinot didn't agree with me because during the night it came back out the same way it came back in. No bueno.

But overall, I would come back because the food, service, and ambience was top notch.

Great place to go for a special occasion. Service plus fantastic food put this place over the edge. For our anniversary they created a special cheesecake dessert, by just letting them know this at the time of booking on open table. Prices are high, but very hard to find a better steak.

    Me = carnivore

I love steak.  LOVE steak.  Even so-so steak sure as heck beats most anything else  you put in front of me.  I wish anything else was put in front of me at RC.

NY Strip should not be filled with hard cartilege looking fat and be so fatty you act like a surgeon to get a greater than 50% ratio of meat to fat in a bit.

My fiance ordered a Filet Mignon.  I watch her inspect and operate and have a third of a filet off to the side as being "fatty".  Thinking she's being picky I take a bit and spit it out into a clothe napkin.  I know, not classy, but that piece sucked.

Waiter didn't seem to care.  Our spinach appetizer came out cold.  Salad was good.  Skipped dessert for obvious reasons.

Much better choices in that intersection!

Please note, the RC in Northbrook and one of their New Jersey locations and was thrilled for one opening right down the block.  Will never, EVER return.

don't get me wrong, the food was good, but not exceptional, and for the price it should have been.  we did a dinner and wine event at Ruth Chris, at $110 pp, expensive but for a special night out it seemed acceptable, but then when you get the check and see not only tip included (for a party of two) but also a service fee and some other fee so now the bill was $310 for 2 people.  If it was phenomenal food and service we wouldn't complain, but it wasn't.  It was small portions, the steak was very good, risotto was good, salad and dessert average, but we have had better for much less money (and no one really likes hidden, unexpected charges do they?).  I would go to Capital Grille, get better food, more food, much better service and save $100.

Classic steakhouse prime beef, cooked beautifully served on sizzling plates crowned with butter.

Dining with my wife and a friend.

I had the ribeye, cooked medium rare.  My steak was fabulously juicy, and flavorful.  Seared perfectly in their custom designed blast furnace of a broiler they use for their steaks.

The filet my wife ordered was so tender it melted in your mouth.

Be aware everything (and I mean everything) is served with generous helpings of butter.  The steaks, the grean beans, the mashed potatoes, and the mushrooms all are covered in glorious amounts of butter.   This isn't a bad thing my opinion, just not common in restaurants (anymore.)

Our waitress was a less refined than I expected. She seemed a bit air headed, and more focused on small talk than service.  The bus boys, food runners, and others were excellent, keeping our water glasses filled, and removing unused plates quickly.

The restaurant was very noisy.  Enough so, that it was difficult to have a conversation.  We were seated in the middle of the room at one of the tables, not the booths.  It would have been quieter on the perimeter of the room in a booth.

The decor was trendy, modern style with fabric covered light fixtures.

To sum it up:  Steak - Incredible!, Service - not as good as expected, Ambiance - too much noise.

They still get 4 stars on the steak alone, as it is one of the best meat eating experiences I've ever had, and being unabashedly carnivorous, I've had many.

    Go Meat!

Let me preface this by saying that I am not a steak person.  My sister-in-law and her husband took us all (her parents, my husband and me) to Ruth's Chris as my in-laws' Christmas present (this was the earliest that all of our schedules coincided.  While the others had various cuts of steak (petite filet to the KC strip), I dined on, and thoroughly enjoyed, the seared ahi tuna.  I have to say that this seems to be the sort of restaurant that people go to in order to either flaunt the money that they may or may not have or to say that they've been there.  I was less than impressed with the wine selection; my brother-in-law selected Kendall Jackson Chardonnay and Sebastiani Merlot, two wines that I think of as everyday wines and not wines that should be on an upscale restaurant's wine list.
We each ordered a salad, which was just salad (albeit a $9 plate of the same lettuce that you can get in a premixed bag with nothing special added to it).  As I previously mentioned, they each ordered steaks, while I ordered the seared tuna.  We also selected several side dishes to share (edamame corn succotash, mashed potatoes, asparagus, creamed spinach, and au gratain potatos), which were nothing special at all.  In fact, I've had better versions of these dishes at places like Weber Grill and Claim Jumper.  We also ordered several of their desserts (creme brulee, chocolate explosion, berries & cream, bread pudding, and an Irish coffee), which were decently delicious.  Actually, I highly recommend the bread pudding.  The combination of flavors blend perfectly.
While I'm glad to have tried out Ruth's Chris, I doubt my husband and I would dine here on our own.  For a steakhouse with ala carte service, the steaks are just so so, and the sides are completely lackluster and do not stand out from restaurants that are not as high quality.  I would recommend a place like the Capital Grille for better food if that's what you're really looking for.  If you haven't been here and are a "keeping up with the Joneses" type, then by all means, try it out and cross it off your list.

    The Good:
Excellent service staff.  The waitress we had at this location was excellent, and made sure all of our needs were met.  She even brought a sense of humor without it being forced which is something I admire.

Decoration, and seating.  Very nice dining room with small alcove booth seating to give you more of a romantic feel when dining with a significant other.

    The Not so Good:
The steaks, are literally smothered in butter.  Now I prefer a good sear to my steaks and them have them cooked to medium as I like them.  This steak seemed like it was boiled in butter.  Perhaps others prefer this style, but it was not for me.

In terms of value the ala cart menu is obscene with the overall quality lacking on the steaks.  When your paying $50 for a steak, and then $9-$10 for a side, and the meal is not simply divine... I have a difficult time finding the value.   I have paid this much at other establishments, and found it well worth it in terms of the food.  I just don't see it here.

Let me start with the Raspberry Rosemary Cosmo.  In a blind test study, it'd say it was one of Craig Schoettler's creations.  Chef Schoettler no doubt makes better cocktails, but this cosmo was pretty tasty.

Now on to the dinner.  Beringer Cabernet Sauvignon 1999 is simply outstanding and went really well with calamari, ahi tuna and crab cakes.  Calamari and crab cakes were especially tasty, but I'd pass the ahi tuna next time.

The salmon entree was absolutely delicious, but I was so full I couldn't finish half of it.  Hello leftovers for lunch the next day.

But of course there's always room for dessert and the Chocolate Sin Cake did not disappoint.  And it goes really well with Dom Perignon.

Now on to another essential part.  The service.  Simply outstanding.  What an enjoyable evening!

I came here for dinner one night and it was an awesome mix of dim lighting and awesome service! The waiter was super helpful in entree recommendations. We ended up getting the Porterhouse for Two, that came with 3 slices of Filet and 5 slices of Ribeye. It was nothing short of amazing! The filet came out juicy and tender and the ribeye was the same.

If you ever are wondering which sides to get, GET THE SWEET POTATO CASSEROLE!!!!! It's AWESOME! Little bits of pecan crunched into it and it has that type of crumble on the top that yo might expect on a pie, but this thing tops off the meal like no other.

The broccoli might be the only part of the meal that fell short of expectation, as it wasn't crunchy like most good broccoli I've seen. Other than that, you get an awesome experience for going there!

Not sure if it's only because I've been here for work dinners (and it's nothing against my coworkers!), but I think the service here is quite slow. There is a private room you can request if you are with such a group. The servers are always personable - one tapped my friend's glass when moving her plate, and he said "cheers!" as his excuse me. Loved it.

If the restaurant is offering any types of prix fixe meals, I recommend that. Otherwise you have to order everything ala carte. I've enjoyed all of the appetizers and desserts. Calamari has a great sweet chili sauce. The stuffed mushrooms are large and delicious. Also, all of the desserts are great. The cheesecake is not a slice, but a mini who cheesecake - so good. The whiskey bread pudding is dense but moist. Unlike my medium cooked steak, which was a bit dry. The other time I had a steak, medium rare was very good. Overall the restaurant feels nice and high class and is reflected in the cost, but the service can be improved with the timing.

My boyfriend and I dined at 6pm on a Saturday night.  The place was impressive from the moment we walked in: pretty dark wood throughout, modern with a traditional feel, a living room type conversation area near the host desk, and just beyond it a downtown bar scene.  The ambiance is perfect for a romantic special occasion.

We were seated at a table by the exit doors which almost made us hesitant to sit, but we merely turned our backs to it to face the rest of the room which was beautiful. Our waitress appeared right away and was attentive the whole night; she kept the drinks coming, which pleased my boyfriend very much.  She also understood our picky orders with a smile (God bless her).

We both ordered steaks: my bf the 16oz ribeye, and I the filet with lobster.  I will type this boldly as to convey our experience correctly: BEST STEAKS WE'VE EVER TASTED in Illinois.  He and I have been to many cities, many steakhouses.  Until this weekend my favorite steak experience in IL was at Morton's in Schaumburg, then Gibsons in Oakbrook, then Capital Grille downtown Chicago.  This was our first time here and we both agreed how superior the taste was, the texture, and the accuracy of how we wanted it cooked!  Bravo to both the chef and the waitress who communicated our order perfectly.

    We are so going back.

Aye aye aye!!!! I think I have died and gone to heaven!!

In all honestly IM not a big fan on steakhouses, just because I would rather buy a steak and cook it at home, BUT! we came here on New Years with the family, and I am sure glad we did!!

The restaurant is gorgeous. It is very classy. Little word of advice, do not come here in jeans. You can, but you will stick out like a sore thumb. You should wear slacks and a nice blouse, or a nice polo for the guys.

They have a nice foyer and a very nice bar area if you are waiting for your table.
They do take reservations, so you might want to do that, because this place is ALWAYS busy. What Recession???

    Moving on!

Now, keep in mind, this place IS expensive...but you eat good! You definetely do not leave hungry! The service was great. Our waitress we had was very knowledgeable and very personable.

The steaks we ordered came out perfect. The only thing that was strange, and maybe it is just because I am not use to going to such elite steakhouses, but you have to order your sides seperately. Meaning, you order a steak, that's all you get unless you want to pay for a side of mashed potatos or esparagus. If you ask me, that's a bit of a rip off. I mean, your already paying $40+ for a steak, they can't give you a side with it?

Anyway, the place is good, but like I said, IM not a fan of steakhouses. But I would reccomend going at least once, just so you can say you've experienced it.

You know that scene in When Harry Met Sally where Sally fakes an orgasm in the middle of the diner?  THAT is me at Ruth's Chris.  But I'm not faking.

You obviously do not go here for the prices or the quick service, but Ruth's Chris does provide in many other ways.  First off, the steaks are freaking delicious.  They come to you on a sizzling hot plate of butter.  I could stop there and that alone would be worth 5 stars, but there are so many other reasons I love it here.  1) Not many places have good craft beer.  They do.  2) Every soup, salad, and side I have had here is awesome.  3) The blue cheese crust is the best I have ever had.  It's not a crumby excuse for a crust, but a full half-inch of blue cheese crumbles that are broiled on.  HELL YES.  4) The desserts are the bomb too.

Now I am no fancy schmancy McPrissy Pants, but I also like that there is valet if you want it.  There are also black napkins for the classy folks who don't want white lint on their suits.  Nice touch, RC.

I guess my point is that you can make this a fancy night out and pretend you are rich and famous or you can just go there for some good beer and a great steak.  Either way, you need to go.

Being in Schaumburg, we are fortunate to have several great steak houses to choose from. For our one year wedding anniversary, we decided on Ruth's Chris. Thank God that my wife loves steak as much as I do.

As we walked in, I noticed a promotion that they were serving - an appetizer, entrée, and dessert for $49.95. I was shocked since normally that's the price that you would pay for just the steak itself without any sides. Both of us decided on the promotion and got white bean chorizo soup, ribeye steak with side, and a chocolate cheesecake. The soup was a little salty but there were plenty of chunks of chorizo. I upgraded to the cowboy ribeye which was bigger for only $5 more. It was cooked well with a nice char on the outside and medium rare in the middle. The butternut squash side was disappointing since it lacked flavor and was a little watery. The chocolate cheesecake was a good finish to the meal since it was the right portion size and served with fruit.

Although there are several great steakhouses in Chicago, sometimes you just want a great steak without the fuss.

I've been to several Ruth's Chris before and took my girlfriend here for dinner last night.  No so good.

We ordered our meals and everything was fine.  The expeditor came out with our dinner and before he served it to us, something must have been wrong as he took the tray back to the kitchen.  10 Minutes later, our meals were served and they must have tried to keep everything hot because my Ribeye was dried out and way overdone, and I ended up sending it back.  My girlfriends Filets were also a little dried out, and the mashed potatoes were like cold concrete.

The server did apologize and brought us a complimentary side of mushrooms, but it was just just not the service and quality that one expects from such a high end steakhouse.

    Fairly disappointing.

Steak soooo good it'll make you smack...SOMEBODY!

Wonderful service. Delectable side dishes. And of course the steak is off the radar.

Orgasmic. I have no words for this other than to say that this was the most orgasmic steak eating experience that I've ever had. I ordered the cowboy cut ribeye, medium rare. Cooked perfect. PERFECT. Garlic mashed potatoes? PERFECT. Husband had the crabcakes, he said they were perfect. Everything was just perfect.

Shaw's Crabhouse has been my favorite restaurant in the burbs for about 6 years now, and I can honestly tell you that it's been replaced.
I'm already trying to figure out when we can go back here.

At long last, we got to attest the legend that is Ruth's Chris.

Go if you haven't been yet. The steaks are simply salted and peppered, with a small slab of butter. Next time, though, we would pass on the butter. The medium rare ribeye we had was tender and scrumptious.

All sides are a la carte, and those are the only things I would pass and save room for dessert. Our table had the mashed potatoes (not much garlic flavor and whipped too soft), creamed spinach, au gratin broccoli (vegetable was cooked perfectly but cream a tad rich), and potato au gratin.

Did you know you can order a set meal for either under $40 or $50, depending on the entree choice? It comes with choice of house salad or seafood gumbo, select choice of entrees (and it's extensive and includes lobster), a side and chocolate mousse and fresh seasonal berries in sweet cream sauce. The ribeye is a regular 10 oz. I was expecting it to be a measly 6 oz. All entrees are regular size.

And definitely opt for the seafood gumbo. Our table also had the onion soup and lobster bisque - all great starts to a wonderful meal.

A friend had the seared rare ahi tuna. You wouldn't think a steak restaurant would deliver such top-notch seafood but Ruth's Chris can hold a candle to any good sushi restaurant in that department.

Equally impressive was their dessert. The banana cream pie was the rave of the party, and we were all delighted with the apple crumb tart as well.

Among the four of us, with martinis, bottle of red, and a glass of white, our meal came up to about $350.

And if you celebrate your birthday, your dessert of choice is complimentary.
