Sorry to be less impressed with Ryderz. Â
The ambiance is a little off putting. Â It has the appearance of being built in the 60's, and is way too much space for their current business (IE. lack of). Â Perhaps in the past, the Lions, Kiwanis, and the Rotarian's met there. Â Perhaps they had a lobby full of patrons. Â Perhaps they had banquets there. Â Perhaps is was the "new" place in Oakdale. Â But, no more. Â I agree with another Yelper who says it has a "barren" feel, like a ghost town. Â
The food was OK, no real complaints there. Â I had the Cobb salad, and while all the required food elements were present as expected, it was constructed badly. Â The presentation was amateurish. Â Wife, a tuna melt and it was odd. Â Looked like a plain tuna sandwich, and not much tuna either. Â Prices were OK; if they were high I would have given 2 stars. Â
The waitstaff were good, though, perhaps 4 stars. Â They seem to be trying hard. Â They are perhaps young locals, and were friendly and smiley. Â That goes a long way.
Read some bad reviews, but we are staying across the street at Holiday Inn and we hiked and biked in 97 degree heat in Yosemite all day today.....so we tried it. Â We knew what we were getting into.
When I walked in, I wanted to leave and asked hubby if we could, but we stayed (too tired). Â The hostess station looks barren and the whole restaurant has a barren feel. Â The decor has much to be desired. Â The shelf around the room is a bit dusty also.
But the food another story. Â We had tortilla soup and salad to start (came with our meals) and both were above average by far for the price range and type of restaurant. Â Dinner hubby had meatloaf and loved it. Â I had the T-bone (most expensive on menu at 17 bucks) and it was cooked perfect and tasty.
All and all, great food, price, and service
The atmosphere never grew on me.
My first and last time there today. I moved to Oakdale several months ago and today was my first time at Ryderz Restaurant.
I sat  myself down as the sign instructed me to do. I picked a booth that smelled of bleach, but I guess that means it was "clean."  An untidy 50ish guy wearing jeans and a plain white undershirt (seriously? This is your uniform?) came over and offered no smile or greeting.  All he said was "What do you want to drink?" Iced tea; Then he walked  away.
Several minutes passed before a waitress showed up. Â She was friendly enough. I ordered the Rueben sandwich. It was mediocre at best, with lots of gristle throughout and tough to chew. Â I Â finished my meal and was ready to pay and leave, then the waitress asked me if I wanted more iced tea. She was a little late in asking. Regardless, I still gave her a $2 tip (20%).
But, I'll never go there again, mostly because of the gristle and the guy in the undershirt. I know this is a little town known for being casual. Â But, come on. An undershirt?? Â Have some pride in your appearance, and smile a little.
I love Ryderz. Â Quality food consistently! Â And, wow the quantity! Â I love the Garden Omlet Breakfast, it is amazing! Â This is not a high end steak house or fancy restaurant... it is a great place to get food any day of the week, any time of day...Just all around yummy and affordable.
Review Source:First of all... let's be clear... this isn't a high end place. BUT... they are friendly and service is almost always great. If something isn't good and you speak with them, they'll try to make it right. That's always appreciated in my world.
The restaurant is casual and offers basic items. It's open until 10 which is unusual in this sleepy town. I prefer having breakfast there but have had good meals at other times of the day.
Okay the truth is... I like the bar the best! Super friendly! Fair priced drinks that aren't watered down. The other customers are welcoming and talkative. Good tv's for watching sports and a decent selection of music. You can also order food in the bar until 10 and it's just as good. Try the tacos if you want a tasty late-night snack!
Don't know about lunch or dinner bit the breakfast garden omelette rocks. Not a whole lot of breakfasts spots in Oakdale, but this place has greatly improved over the last year or so...great service, coffee is right there as soon as you sit down and the omelettes are huge, enought for two.
Review Source:Excellent food and friendly and great service! Â I had the breakfast steak meal - steak was huge and tasty, eggs delicious. Â The hub had a hot dog - served on excellent bread - he reports excellence as well. Â I could go on all day about the biscuits - wow! Â Must go if in town and hungry.
Review Source:Ok, honestly, great service from this middle of nowhere town restaurant. The food? What can you expect. It was just alright. Despite there being a sign outside saying their prime ribs specials were only on certain days, they still managed to offer it to us on a Sunday night.
There was plenty of food for a $13 meal. The prime rib was decent, though some parts were a bit tough, but I couldn't finish everything.
It was kinda cute too, they were playing the movie Majestic on their flat screen tv. If you're hungry and on the way back from Yosemite, stop by here.
We were a little bit suspicious about this place because there weren't too many people here when we walked in. Â
However, the service was great and the food was very good too. Â We were much happier stopping here than we would have been going into one of the fast food situations around town.
Great midway stop on your way to Yosemite, etc.
Coming from a strenuous trip from Yosemite, we were looking for a place to eat and this one didn't disappoint. Â Our group tried the Chicken Fried Steak, Corned Beef Hash and ordered a couple of burgers and sandwiches. Â What can I say? Â YUM YUM YUM! Â I never finish my food but this I definitely did. Â Oh and also, it's not on the menu, but they do serve alcohol from the bar next door. Â The service was fast, and very very hospitable. Â I would come back here again for sure, next time, I'll even be more hungry so I could get desserts.
Review Source:I had the soup and salad- uninspired to say the least but I would probably give it 2 stars. Â My friend got the salmon and it was so overcooked that it was nearly inedible. Â The "veggies" came with bacon and a full helping of grease and were way too salty. Â However, the rice side was tasty.
Review Source:A bunch of us were headed to woodward reservoir on 4th of july to hook up with friends and family that were already there.  Unforunately, the county sheriff weren't allowing anymore visitors in because the place was too packed.  We drove into Oakdale to find a place to eat we decided to try out Ryderz Restaurant.  What cought our interest was the name of the place.  Inside, the restaurant is simple, clean, the folks, when we were there, were friendly... Based on our waitresses' recomendation, I ordered a burger and it was awesome.  There were 5 of us, 3 ordered burgers, 1 had the fish and chips, another had a steak.  All of us thought the food was good, service was prompt and the prices were decent.  There's this picture on one of the walls that's a lil funny though of  a cowboy ridin a horse......i don't know, you gotta see it for yourself, ..  this place is not bad at all,  I say try it out and see for yourself.
Review Source:A disaster. On Friday morning of July 4th weekend, they had 2 waitresses and a busser running this place. It is a huge place that seats @ 150. It was about 1/3 filled but you could tell the staff were running around frazzled and unable to cope.
We were looking for a basic omelet and we got that after waiting almost an hour to place our order. We had to beg and wait almost another 45 minutes to get our check. A third of the other patrons got up and left. Those that did get meals got partial or cold orders. Our food was on par with a Denny's omelet.
One of the waitresses told us that they got a table of 35 people unexpectedly. But it was a holiday weekend and they are affiliated with a larger hotel next door so they should have more than 2 waitresses and a busser. And NO MANAGER ON DUTY?!
Come on skinflint owners--if you want to stay in business, get people seated and served.
Your local watering hole is back open!
There is a new cook who is awesome. Great food!
The restaurant opens at 5 AM and the bar closes at 2 AM.
Watch out for one of the older waitresses, she has an attitude problem... but only one... the other workers are super nice.
** To that guy over there... Jack... I'm not a waitress and if you look at my profile and reviews you would see I don't live near Oakdale**
