I came here on 7/16/13. wanting to revisit an old bowling alley i once cherished visiting...for the purpose of warming up for an LA tournament ..and at 4:15pm, you would expect everything to be business as usual right?...

Boy could we all be anymore wrong..my friend and i walk in with all of our bowling gear in tow...the alley is open.and theres 2 lanes of the 32 lanes being occupied with a small family bowling....and all of sudden we were informed..that NO LANES AVAILABLE Till 9:pm.....The parking lot is empty..and by empty, i mean SERRA BOWL and Japantown Bowl is having more business than them...

There is no sign of a business or corporate party coming soon....so what's taking up their business? probably ghosts of memories pasts perhaps...

Dear god...no alley is worth waiting on for 6 hours...they need some kind of formal notice other than the TV screens at the front desk..

Their website was of no help either..

But i guess 2 of 32 lanes occupied is considered Full and no Vacancy in this economy now?
I guess it is fitting, since its basically a cliff side alley....if the balls haven't yet gone into the gutter, we know where all of the bowlers went....

The nachos supreme are delish! Minus a star for The girl w the red hair working at the snack counter that has a horrible attitude and acts like you are bothering her when you order food. No smile and answers you in an annoyed voice if you ask her a question.  Really, if you don't like customer service don't work in customer service! Love the free parking here!

We had a birthday party here... And we would go back and do it again.

The food was amazing! We had pizzas, chicken wings, fruit salad, and sliders.
Considering the rates for birthday parties around here, it was well worth it.

The party room is spacious and clean, service was fast and attentive.... The bowling was fun for all and the afternoon went so smoothly.

I was able to plan it all via email, and on the few days before, called in the menu order.

Easy parking for your guests, a two hour party overlooking the beach. An hour of bowling and an hour of yummy eating. I'm hungry again already!!!

Kiddo still loves his sea bowl t shirt and bowling pin ( that all our guests signed!)

Great place to bowl. Good prices. $2 a game M-F before 4. I wish the bar area opened before 5.

We had a 7 years old party there few days ago and the whole experience was great. The kids were occupied playing. The staff paid attention to kids. They really have the resources for that. But what I liked the most is the big bright party room. Really something unusual for places where kids get actively entertained. Adults usually don't have much space for themselves.

That party room is awesome. Everyone can choose either to stay there, or be with kinds or even play themselves.

And almost forgot! Their PIZZA is AWESOME!!! I did not expect that!

So my parents met at Serrabowl (closed) and my parents always brought me there to bowl as well as ClassicBowl.

When i went to Sea Bowl it was 10,000X better!

For a bowling center that has been open around the same town as Serrabowl it is CLEAN and modern. Updated with LCD monitors with better software and custom settings.

There was a man who assisted us with our balls He even grab the balls for us after sizing us (no pun intended). I really appreciated that!

The food was even much better than classic bowl. We ordered a pepperoni and mushroom pizza with garlic fries. The food was on par with most of the Happy Hour quality you find at most bars in SF. Having a real concentrated flavor from packaged foods.

The price of admission is slightly higher than the other two, but a cleaner place with better food and excellent service, its worth the price!

The Chardonnay is real good.  Not bad for a bowling alley.  You get a little view of the ocean.  You hear the pins and people around you having a good time.  In 5 minutes your at the beach.  Nice starting point for your evening.

do you ever have one of those late nights driving down pch and suddenly decide you want to go bowling at 12AM? my bf and i were late night grocery shopping one evening (hello long term relationship) and decided we wanted to do something fun- like late night bowling. we got a yelp deal, rummaged through the car for socks, arrived around 12:30AM, grabbed some beer and proceeded to have a blast bowling here! and by blast, i mean drunken gutter balling. everyone was so friendly. rates were decent. this was probably the most late night fun i have had in ages (again, definition of fun changes with age...maybe it's the quarter life crisis)!

Went there for a friends birthday, and when we walked in there were most lanes open.  The girl at the counter just laughed and said: "Thursday nights are for league only.  That is common knowledge."  I don't keep up with the Daily Bowler News like I should...I know.  Try putting that on your website!!

I was wary of this place because I heard it was expensive & then I realized my friends are all cheapskates. This place is fun & clean - a great place to bowl! They also have specials for birthday parties and such - only $10 for 2 hours of bowling. Woot!

Came here last night for the New Year's celebration. I didn't know if it would be goofy or what.

For starters you get two free drink tickets with your even ticket. The only count for well drinks and domestic macro brew (im a bit of a beer snob) I really wanted a Firestone-Walker beer and I wasn't about to have a Bud. But thats the least of your problems.

The food came out and it was actually really well done. Fresh sandwiches that were piled high with fresh lunch meat. The wings were crazy good and somehow they knew I had a weakness for ambrosia salad.

Over the lanes, they project music videos that are both old and current. I'm a radio Dj and music selection matters to me. They did a good job for the family crowd.

Overall, the fun you have here is not provided by Sea Bowl - its provided by the friends and family you bring. However, they do a good job of facilitating that at Sea Bowl, and especially during their NYE party.

Came here with my friends and I've never been here but supposedly it's usually not super busy as classic gets, but the day we came was pretty busy.

Looks a lot better than classic though and the crowd here seems more... calm and not as crazy looking as the customers that classic caters to? lol. The menu and everything is a lot better than classics. I tried the garlic fries here and they were alright... kinda wish it was more garlicky (is that even a word?) but I guess if I wanted good food I wouldn't be ordering from here. So it was good enough for some late night food. Lanes are clean and look like they've been redone recently. Overall the bowling alley is pretty clean and well kept.

The thing that blew me away about Sea Bowl is they offer full, quality, onsite catering.  I wasn't expecting more than pizza for dinner when I heard our department outing would be held at a bowling alley.  What we had was salad, dinner rolls, mashed potatoes, sauteed veggies, roasted chicken and prime rib!  The only thing that was missing was the horseradish.

The alley itself is clean, operating smoothly and the shoes look like they were actually purchased within the last two decades.  My biggest complaint is that a place this cool is all the way in Pacifica.

The most clean, well-kept bowling alley I have ever been to. In addition to the beautiful view, the employees are kind and all around awesome! The prices are definitely awesome as well! I will be back many times, since this is my favorite place to bowl and have a good time despite my not so impressive average score.

This is a great bowling alley to bring your family, friends and kids to. Its kept clean and is a huge alley. They have about 30 lanes, a full bar, a back room for parties, pool tables, a kitchen, lots of seating, and games.
I bowl in league here and it is really fun.
I give 5 stars to the staff.
Another plus- the parking lot is ginormous so you will never have issues finding parking.

My experience at Seabowl was dreadful.  I ran in out of the rain and met my friends in the bar area, where, a minute later, I was reprimanded by the bartender for forgetting my ID in the car.  I proceeded to get my ID and show it to her, but after this I was not allowed to get a drink, I got nasty looks from the bartender all evening, and then she cut off my entire group because of this.  We were there for a friend's birthday celebration.  I was not disrespectful in any way, I got my ID and showed it to her, and I was very upset by the way my friends and I were treated.  Seabowl has lost my business--I will never be bowling there again.

This place is pretty cool. Ocean view from the parking lot, 1950's futuristic style building (original) and clean new equipment inside.

It's really out of the way if you do not live in Pacifica but worth the travel.

First time here was for my son's classmate's birthday party. Decided to come back when the kids wanted to bowl.

Great that they have weekday morning deals.  Perfect for those with kids who can come in early and bowl for just $2 a game!

Friendly and attentive staff that help you out.

    Fun environment.

This is a great bowling alley with a top notch view!

We were vacationing in Pacifica and found this bowling alley to be perfect for our toddler sons.  The place was very clean and well-maintained.  Staff were eager to help and seemed happy to be at work.  Also, the food from the cafe was delicious.

Go on Monday nights - $9/hour per lane.

This is a nice bowling alley - clean, well-staffed, with a nice food court area. Tons of parking.

They give you socks for free if you ask!

On weekend nights, it's very expensive, so I definitely recommend checking out their deal or happy hour times.

We were looking for trouble on a Saturday night, so where else would we go for some drinks and to throw some balls around?

After standing there forever trying to figure out which was a better deal for primetime ($5.50 per game per person for a foursome or $29 per hour), the gal at the counter informed us that it's $19 per hour after 10PM and probably thought, "You only look smarter than you actually are, math geniuses."  OH WELL, gotta wait it out at the bar!   Drinks were cheap ($5 for well drinks!  The bartender's drink specialty was a Jameson shot, so be forewarned), and the decent bar with couches was a step up from a typical bowling alley dive bar.  The small arcade with old games was redeemed with an air hockey table and a separate billiards room.

There was a slight crowd of other cheapskates waiting at 10PM, but only half the lanes were eventually used.  The $3 shoes were fairly new and clean.  The forty-or-so lanes also felt newer rather than dated, and the color computer screens offered a few themes (the disco theme got cheesy after awhile).   The lanes and gutters were straight and true without any funny bumps, and the lane service for stuck balls was pretty quick.  To top off the bowling, the $4.35 Chili Cheese Fries were amazing and easily the biggest troublemaker of the night for those with big stomachs but weak bowels.

I think the gentleman that helped us was named Mark.  He was super nice and super friendly.  He extended just a few minutes so we can finish our second game in the one hour lane.  This is great customer service.  I'm in the sales biz and this is how you increase customer retention because my family is definitely coming back, probably next week when kids are off school and we can play weeknights cheap.

Bowling alley was very clean. Also a guy helped my kids with picking out the right balls.  First time ever and I've been to all the bowling alleys in SF area.  Also bar was roomy and served iced cold beers.  Lots of parking, beautiful view and great staff.

Only thing is that I would have liked the lanes a bit more oily because my ball was gripping a lot and took me a while to adjust.  But still five stars.

Also automatic bumpers are awesome so that we all can be on one lane.

An intimidating drive to Sea Bowl on a foggy Saturday night didn't stop us! Came here last Saturday night to bowl with some friends. Babe and I kind of got lost on our way here but eventually made it.

Sea Bowl is really pretty at night and has a huge parking lot. Upon entering Sea Bowl, its relatively clean looking. It wasn't a busy night so my pack of friends were able to get lanes pretty quickly. Since the sun finally shined on SF that day, I was in shorts and sandals and didn't have any socks. Fortunately, Sea Bowl has socks... and... THEY'RE FREE!!! Love you guys already... Got a pair of free socks and put on my rented shoes. Shoes are pretty clean too, not worn out or anything, only the aglets are missing.

Went to the bar and had a jaggerbomb and tried to order a midori sour. Unfortunately, the bartender didn't hear me correctly or whatevs because I got some other sour. -_- Oh well, down it and kept on bowling.

I had a great time here and will be returning.

Sea bowl was my favorite bowling alley growing up and remains my favorite as an adult. The lanes are way better then Classic and Serra and the interior is pleasing to the eye with bright colors and an overall friendly atmosphere.

Though there aren't as many lanes as there are at places like Classic, the lanes are well maintained with very few issues interrupting play. Bowling in general at sea bowl is awesome and blows other bowling alleys out of the water.

Outside of bowling, there is a bar with some very friendly bartenders along with a nice area to relax in. There's hardly any douchey patrons so the experience is great. Occasionally there are loud obnoxious people bowling, but that cant really be prevented. There's a few pool tables available as well which is nice and the food served is surprisingly good and affordable.

If there was anything to knock Sea Bowl off of a 5 star, it would be (I'm assuming he is) the manager. He's not only rude, but impolite and overall gave my friends and I a bad experience when we dealt with him. I had such a bad experience with him that I almost wrote a 1-star review in anger but obviously, I'm over that.

I'm glad to say though that even if they lost a star, the staff at the front desk would re-earn it. Though theyre not all stellar, Jackie (hope I spelled it right) has always been helpful, polite, and thoroughly enhances our experience. She's allowed us to finish out our last frames at times when we're close to finishing and deserves a star herself.

Sea bowl is just great. I really would love for everyone to know how awesome it is, but then it may get too crowded and I won't get to bowl! Still, its the best in and around the bay area.

Not bad, although it was quite pricey for 4 reserved lanes for 3 hours ($40 per person? for 14 people?).

Granted we had 4 large pizzas and beer. But after the first round they didn't exactly come back asking if we needed anything. Nor did they get us more soda pitchers (not that hard, is it to get some more sprite?)

Maybe they were understaffed for a Saturday? I'm just saying that I wouldn't come out here from San Francisco again, especially with other options available.

Had a birthday party here for kids.  Has a nice vibe.  Doesn't feel like the dark depths of a dungeon like some other places.  Cut to the chase:

    1) Computerized gutter bumpers, so toddlers and adults can co-exist in the same lane.
    2) Food is excellent.  The fruit platter selection was awesome, the pizza was great, and the foccacia sandwiches were really fresh and tasty.
    3) Plenty of parking.
    4) Great staff.

My boyfriend and I dropped in here to bowl for an hour. When we called to find out the prices (some time in the afternoon), we were informed that all lanes were booked until 8pm, which struck us as odd. Perhaps that means there is a league that practices there? Anyways, they also let us know that the price drops to 11 per hour after 9pm, so we arrived there around that time. The shoes were $2 per rental, and so the total came out to $13. Nice! We were assigned a lane, which was clearly marked and easy to find.

The crowd was very mixed here. There seemed to be a couple families and some people in the 30s along with some younger people. There was a very large selection of bowling balls to choose from, which were clearly marked with the weight and the hand size, so it was very easy to find

The computer was easy enough to use, and it even allowed you to choose bumpers to be on or off for each player. The place was in very good condition; no bumps or dips in the floor, and no problems with the bowling ball return machine. The prompter (tv) can also be switched to regular television, although I am not sure of how to do that.

We also ordered food. I got a veggie burger, and my boyfriend got the chicken quesadillas. There is a mini menu on the top of the stand where you give your order, but right next to the cashier, there is an expanded menu with lots of different options. They also offer free water and cups. The food was pretty good for it being in a bowling alley.

Overall, I really liked the place. The people seemed to be courteous, and the noise level was not overbearing. And the prices are pretty good if you come late enough. (But if you come in the middle off the day, it's over $20 an hour).

So much better, cleaner, and nicer than Serra Bowl & most other bowling alleys I've been too. The prices are right for the lanes, can't say much about shoe rentals because I have my own shoes since my dad was a pro-bowler back in the day.

Hopefully next time, they won't pair up two large groups next to each other, or at least have some sort of ball limit per person because it's just so, so, so, so annoying when the balls get clogged up because people are too ignorant to help move their balls (hehe) out of the way. No really, they need to tell people to get their balls the f out the way. Ball control, Sea Bowl, ball control...

Best late night bowling deal in the area.

    Sun-Thurs $11/lane $2/rental 9-12am

Only downside is that they close at midnight so get there early or on time or else they will shut down on you.

A very well maintained, and clean bowl alley. Lots of blue and white, with a very retro 60's feel of the future. Kind of reminds me of the "Jetsons." (Rosie (robot)? George? Jane? Judy? Elroy? Astro? Are you here?)

It's located off Highway 1 in Pacifica. If you're coming southbound from SF, you'll need to take a long round about way to get to the parking lot, but it's easily seen from Pacific Coast Highway.

Lots of lanes. For those who don't want to bowl, there's an arcade as well as 3 billiard tables in another room.

Rockaway Bar and Grill is a pretty nice and well stocked bar, and the food from the grill isn't too bad.

We've been here many times for kid's bowling parties. The staff does a very good job in setting for these parties. They direct the kids and their parents in getting their shoes, setting up their names on the score boards, and setting up the lanes. There's two large rooms for private parties, and the staff does a great job setting up the tables and decorations. Pizza is made on site, and is pretty good.

Great fun for kids, or adults.

Hello Sea Bowl! You might possibly become my favorite bowling alley :)

Thursday night, Cinco de Mayo night.  Instead of going out to the city and drinking our hearts out at the bars, boyfriend and I had a date night...at Sea Bowl!

Normally we go to Classic, Belmateo, and once in a while Serra.  This time I checked out Sea Bowl from their website online and saw that they have a Thursday deal : 11/hr per lane.  Lane could be up to 4 or 6 people. I forget.  Shoe rental is $2.  SO we decided to give it a shot.

In the pass, we have pass by this bowling alley many times while going to the beach.  But this place is really sort of in the middle of nowhere.  But there's a first time for everything!

First off. You DO NOT need to worry about parking at all.  They have their own lot with lots of parking spaces.  Second of all, they have the nicest snack/food place I have ever seen.  At least when I compare it to the other 3 I have mentioned above.  Clean tables and chairs, bright large menu, and a comfortable sitting area.

Staff is nice and quick.  Boyfriend and I settled for an hour for $11.  No need for shoes because we have our own!  On a thursday night, a bowling alley with 32 lanes, this place was a little more than half pack.  Our neighbors were nice and friendly.  We were actually able to engage in conversations.  So i concluded it has a good crowd.

The lanes were shiny and smooth.  Good music played all night!  We played about 5 games that hour!  Super good deal!

The only down side is that the bowling balls are kinda sucky.  The balls were chipped and lots of size small finger slots left. BOO. im a medium.  But we manage to find a couple of them that worked.

OH, and it's a tad bit far from where I live.  But other than that, I had a great night staying sober!

A good friend of mine hosted his son's seventh birthday party here at Sea Bowl. Several years ago, we too hosted a similar party here for my eldest daughter. This place is definitely a party/event friendly bowling alley for all ages. There are party packages available suitable for every occasion.

Every Friday evening from 10 pm to 12:30 am, they have Astro Bowl - complete with laser light experience and music videos for your bowling disco like pleasure.  You can even sign up for membership and receive a free bowling game and other benefits.

This time around I opted not to bowl. I tended to my daughters bowl and enjoyed the moment. They even spared on a couple of frames which was fun to watch. I guess they took up after their old man after all. I just hope they don't end up hanging around bowling alleys later on.

Along with shoe rental, they offered tier pricing per age group per game, hourly lane rates, Astro bowl and league bowler rates.

This bowling alley had a nice full bar and some good eatin' as well.

We all had a great time!  Besides Thanksgiving, I'd love to get a turkey here...

They get five stars only because they are the only bowling alley that is still around and that it is very clean.  If you are looking for a more professional lane then Classic bowl would be better.  On this night however, it was for a birthday party.  Believe it or not I had a blast.  I haven't bowled in a long time so this was really a breath of fresh air.

They have a nice bar and the the bartender, Marshall, makes some mean drinks.  The food court was surprisingly good.  The fried chicken wings, nachos, onion rings............actually all of the food was very decent for an establishment like this.  They have a small billiard section and an arcade area.

Overall............we had a great time.  This would be a great place for a kids bday party as they do cater towards that market.  It is very kid friendly.

Some folks call bowling a sport, but there's something questionable about a sport that condones (and encourages?) drinking between turns - not that I'm complaining.
What I don't get is why do some people bowl better after a couple a drinks?

Whatever the reason may be it is pretty fun, and Sea Bowl is a great place to play.

It has a good vibe to it - combining a clean up-to-date look yet still retaining a classic bowling alley feel.

It also has a good mix of people - there was a b-day party with a bunch of kids to the left of us and a chill group of ladies looking to unwind to the right of us.  Usually, crowds throw me off but not here since everyone was having fun.

The only possible ding on Sea Bowl is getting there.
Imagine having to travel down a two lane freeway shrouded in fog at night . . . tricky.

Overall, a solid four star place where good fun can be had by all.

So, my friend wanted to celebrate her birthday by taking 16 friends to knock down bowling pins here at Sea Bowl.

I SUCK at bowling. I'll play volleyball, softball, tennis, snowboard, run, skip, hop, and even try the underwater basket-weaving thing. Any other sport really...But, bowling...eeks. I haven't played since high school.

However, my friend is too cool for me to miss her event. So, I went.

The first thing I do when I get there is grab a beer. They have a good size bar area with a big screen to watch sports. I watched Olympics Volleyball as I downed my beer. All right. Ready to BOWL.

So, there I am sticking my fingers in holes that maybe infiltrated with god knows what. I start my advance to the lane so I can knock the shit out of some pins.

All I can think while everyone's eyes are pieced on my backside is "Jeez, I hope my ass doesn't look big."

Good fun. If you are into this kinda thing. I would have to say bring good friends and fun times will always follow.

Oh yeah, they have a billiards room, too. Something I also suck at, but love playing.

OVERALL: Clean, decent bar area, affordable, right across from the ocean. Me loves the ocean!

Ok, so we went on a stormy Saturday afternoon, and whilst we waited for the rest of our party to arrive, we sat in the lounge, which has many good beers on tap in addition to a view of the ocean. That day, the waves were 30-40 feet and we could have just watched the ocean all day. But we were there to bowl so we hit the lanes.

8 of us bowling, 2 lanes, 12 bucks a pop. Not bad, I'd say.

The lanes were pretty standard, and I'm no expert as my whopping score of 57 would show, but they seemed nice enough. There's a gorgeous mural at the sides of the alley that reminds you that you're spitting distance from the ocean. There's a good mix of customers, as well, from teenagers enjoying a night out, to 20 and 30 somethings, to grandparents and their grandkids. It's a really nice and non-threatening mix. Nobody seems all that serious about bowling, either, so when we dance and make asses of ourselves when we get the RARE strike or spare, we don't catch the glares of the gloved pro bowlers trying to get in a serious game in the lane next to us.

The bar food had just the right amount of grease, the nachos were bigger than my head, and the pitchers of Stella were stellicious, although a little expensive at $21, in my opinion. But I'm unaccustomed to buying pitchers, so, that may be right on. I don't know.

In the arcade they have Dance Dance Revolution, which is the most ridiculously fun way to spend time sobering up before you make the drive back into the city.

My only complaint about this place was the bartender's judgmental "another pitcher?" when we'd order more. I mean, come on now, I don't know about you, but I prefer having a good buzz on to cushion the blow of all the gutter balls.

All in all, a very good way to spend a stormy Saturday afternoon.

All of us almost got into car accidents trying to follow each other finding this place. Running STOP signs, Red lights, and I even made the person following me do a donut since the road was wet from yesterday..

This place looked really nice for a bowling alley. I can't say anything about bowling since we got kicked out before we even had the chance to bowl. My friend got the whole pool room, so it was playing pool for about 2 hours. We were having a good time playing and drinking and next thing you know, the manager guy comes in, takes our Hennessy bottles and say we have to leave!! I was so sad we had to leave but it was our fault for bringing in alcohol.

Besides us getting kicked out, this place was pretty nice and clean looking, not like other bowling alleys. Next time I'll come for bowling.

Wow, Sea Bowl is a beacon of light in the dark. Seriously. The blinding fluorescent lights.. ow.. my eyes..  It is definitely one of the nicest bowling alley's I've ever been to though. I would expect nothing less since there's not much in Pacifica. They even have a street sign for it, like an actual famous destination. Too bad it's kinda far. Oh wells, at least I don't have to stare down pre-pubescent children for the lighter balls.. because there are plenty, and *gasp* are actually organized according to the lb label on the cubbyholes. When I accidentally got the ball stuck in the gutter mid way (it hit the bar and bounced back), it took all of 30 seconds for a person to notice and get it.. OMG. usually you have to buzz someone, and 10 minutes later someone grumpily huffs and puffs there way over like they're too damn busy to do their job.

I appreciate the use of my eyes, but I'm so there...blinding lights can kiss my inconsistent bowling ass...! Turn up the music please. I could barely hear it over the clatter of bowling pins.

decent garlic fries. a loungey bar to sit at. mini arcade. pool tables. stuffed animal claw machines.. next time i'll let you know if the stuffed animals are actually worth the 10 bucks you throw down when you attempt the claw game.. You know.. usually they're ugly, purple/green/blue/yellow, janky looking dograts, beardonkeys..

    Sunday-Thursday
    9pm-close
    $11.00 per lane, per hour
    $2.00 shoe rental
up to 6 ppl per lane

    usually it's $22/hr/lane and $4 for shoes..

What I saw was a place crowded with spontanious personalities and enough lanes for you and the population of Asia to get your boogy bowl down. Many infant bowlers, ditsy women who seem to be in love with the gutter and dorky dads who dance to every spare they earn, makes Sea Bowl a very interestingly fun environment to be part of.

This place has it's own Cafe, a few walking steps away from your lane. Delicious Pizza, which taste obviously better than..um.. I don't know... Dominoes!! Oh yeah ginormous parking lot, the size of Rosie O' Donnell's right thigh... and that's one huge thigh trust me. Not cracked at all, but clean and new bowling balls fly through the "Gary Coleman" smooth lanes, unlike some bowling alleys, um.. I don't know... Serra Bowl!! Soothing music, but not loud enough to distract your concentration. Great painting of the sea captivates the inside. Prices are reasonable, along with cornacopia of positives make Sea Bowl the ultimate bowling experience.

To top things off, I bowled with confidence that day and did my MC Hammer after shooting those pins down like they owed me money. I did good umm.. you know like nine strikes in a row, the usual.

Now lets meet on another occasion at Sea Bowl and get ready to watch the master lay down the lane.

It has got to be every Korean parents mission to see their child into Harvard.  Who cares if paying tuition meant eating rice and kimchee the rest of your life or whether the applicant in question could even solve the simplest mathematical equations. Just get them there.

My dad?  He is a genius.  My mom?  One of the shrewdest and most insightful women in the world.  So naturally, they expected their children to become neurosurgeons, corporate moguls or even the President of the United States (although the latter doesn't so much apply anymore since it's apparent a monkey can now make office, "nukeular!"), ignoring the fact that intelligence often skips a generation.  For any kid growing up under these pressures, you either kick them to the curb or study your eyeballs out.  I hated that Audrey Kim, always making page 3 of the korean newspaper with some Juilliardesque violin honors or perfect SAT score--great for her, I'm not one to withhold sincere congratulations, just that it was always making my home life so sticky.  "But MOM, I don't even own a violin!"

Years go by and my folks eventually picked up on how to be relatively human, but this year was a new low for me.  Dad called to wish me a happy new year, and we're sitting there talking about the usual stuff when he suddenly poses a rather interesting proposition.

Dad: "So, did you make new year's resolutions?"
Me: "Yup.  (1) Hate people less. (2) Don't be so angry all the time."  **Product Plug--Buy a 2007 'Angry Little Girls' Wall Calendar**
Dad:  "Nooooo.  That's ridiculous.  Can you do two things for me this year?"
    Me: "Sure dad, anything."
Dad:  "Go to church.  Go bowling"
    Me: "..."
    Dad: "'Yoboseyo? Hello."

It's been a week and I'm still processing that request.  I have no idea where that came from and he probably has no clue that his daughter is quite possibly the worst bowler known to man, but really, what's there to lose?  It's not even like he asked me to go all pro-am or anything, so if it meant hitting the lanes once in awhile, I think can swing that.  Heck, maybe I'll even join a league: Reno Fun League, Friday FUNatics, Belles & Beaus, or SENIORS IN ACTION!

    $20/lane/hour
