I've been to this place prior to it being the Shamrock. It's a hell of a lot better now. I've stopped in several times over the last year. Live bands are there a lot. I did swing in on my drunken St Patty's week. Yes I said week. As a true Irishman (half Italian) I need to hold family tradition. Even if I started them myself.

I started my St Patty's on Monday before St Patty's day. Took Thurs Fri, and Mon off from work to party. On St Patrick's Day couple friends went there at 10 ish. In the morn that is. Said good crowd but still plenty of room. I made a few stops prior to and got there around noon. Standing room only. Within the next hr there was no room. Nice fun crowd. No riff raff from the neighborhood. Everyone helping to pass drinks over and loan you a space on their table so I could slam more car bombs.

Not a great tap selection. Common beers only. Drinks have always been made well. Really no complaints.

I've eaten there a few times. Normal bar foods and all good. Even though Waterbury is a shit hole it still has some nice places to go to.

Don't shy away just because of the location.

Went to The Shamrock tonight with my wife and my kids, ages 8 and 5. Service was good:  well paced and attentive without being pushy. Lauren, our server, was excellent. We were there at 5 pm on a Saturday night. Lots of kids in the place. I wouldn't go there with kids much after 7, though, because there is usually live music and it gets pretty loud. Being a big fan of Chef Mancini, I anticipated excellent food. I was right. The only major disappointment was the stale order of nachos. Plenty of toppings, but the chips were definitely stale. C'mon guys. If you want a sports/Irish pub to work, you cannot mess up nachos!  I had the shepherds pie.  Even though I generally prefer corn over the peas/carrots/corn variety, this shepherds pie was excellent. Only (minor) criticism is that it could have had more meat. The gravy in the dish was fantastic. (I sopped it up with some of my son's french fries!)  My wife had a veggie wrap with goat cheese that was also very good. The veggies were crisp and seasoned perfectly. My kids had typical kids meals. One point of note on the kids meals: the pasta my daughter has was cooked a perfect al dente!  Quantities of food were appropriate without being overwhelming. Beer menu is great!  Overall, a good dining experience, but PLEASE improve those nachos or take them off the menu.
