We dined at Shanahan's on a Friday night with a helpful reservation from OpenTable.  I do recommend having a reservation, as the entire bar and restaurant area was filled with swanky folks eating and drinking very well.

Every part of our evening was flawless, from the polite and friendly hostess who checked our coats and showed us to a lovely table, to the valet having our car ready before we had our coats back on.  The staff at all positions in this establishment are clearly well trained and make every effort to provide excellent service to all their guests.

The menu has something tasty for everyone's palette and the wine list is more of a wine book!  (If you can't find your fave vino in there, it probably comes by the box.)

We had the crab appetizer (big, delicious chunks of crab with delectable dipping sauces) and were served warm, crusty bread and butter as soon as our waters arrived.

The BF ordered a bone-in rib eye that he thoroughly enjoyed, saying, "This is the BEST steak I've ever had!"  He was more upset that he couldn't finish it all because it was cooked and seasoned perfectly.

I ordered the scallops which were absolutely the best, most flavorful seared to perfection scallops I've ever had the pleasure of consuming.  The side dishes were served in searing hot dishes to keep them warm throughout the meal.

We split the brownie dessert with marshmallow ice cream and that, too, was delightful!  Choc-tastic, warm brownie with melty marshmallow goodness.  MMM.  I enjoyed my dessert with the flight of ports (each distinct and delicious).

Our waitress was Keelan and she is a professional.  She checked on us often and was efficient, always happy to recommend and clearly had a complete knowledge of the menus.

This was our first visit and we cannot wait to return.  This place gets it!

After dining at the Duke of Denver's steakhouse for Denver Restaurant Week two years ago, I decided it was time to take a turn at the steakhouse of Denver's other Bronco Super Bowl Champion. While Elway's does have perhaps the best New York Strip in the Mile High City, I was completely blown away by the filet at Shanahan's. Those replica Vince Lombardi trophies in the entry area offer you foreshadowing of how good the Shanahan's experience is. This place is World Champion is every aspect. When you consider the dead center DTC location and see how expansive their wine room is, you quickly realize that this is definitely a place where the corporate card gets used very freely. Even for Restaurant Week, the final damage for two was close to a c-note with two glasses of wine and tip included; however, it is definitely worth the price. The filet was cooked absolutely perfectly-a nice warm red center with pink on the edges. The cabernet sauce had a very nice, but not overpowering, peppery flavor and came out sizzling on the plate. That worked out really well for keeping the garlic mashed potatoes, which were the best I have ever eaten, nice and warm. The asparagus had a balsamic sauce and was wonderfully prepared. For dessert, we had an outstanding espresso chocolate mousse with raspberries. Incredible. The mixed field green salad was satisfactory and would be the closest thing Shanahan's has to not being perfection. Too many diced cucumbers for my liking. The service was fantastic and the hospitality of the staff shows that they have been trained by the best to make sure the customer has an unforgettable experience. Overall, Shanny's did not disappoint. This is a clear cut five star dining experience.

    As advertised.

As expected, Shanahan's was outstanding.  Our table of three ate in the bar area with everyone enjoying the bone-in ribeye and assorted sides.

The service was friendly and well paced, the food was cooked expertly and served piping hot.

I'll be looking forward to visiting Shanahan's again as long as I can get someone else to pick up the tab.

I very much enjoyed my visit to this establishment last night....even though there were a few minor annoyances involved.

First off, make sure to turn at the street intersection to enter the complex where the restaurant is located. There are no driveways if you miss your turn and if you aren't careful, you may end up on the freeway so stay alert.

You can have complimentary valet parking or free parking in a garage and walk the 100 yards to the door.

The place is very nicely decorated and the greeters are friendly. The island bar is not restrictive and allows for movement all the way around it without creating choke points (a huge pet peeve of mine). They also had some great specialty drinks. I tried the Bourbon Manhattan with cherries and it was a great cocktail if you like the faint taste of Bourbon. The only negative to note here is each specialty drink is $11 or more. I know, I know, high end restaurant....

The wait staff are very nice and attentive. Service was prompt even with a packed house. The bread was warm when it arrived and so was the sea salt covered butter. Major win here. I don't like when the butter is still solid from the fridge so I was happy this butter was soft and spreadable.

The salads we had were tasty but rather plain. The dressing was great and there was a good mix of veggies but it somehow seemed like run of the mill salad someone throws together at their house. Not bad but not great.

Here comes the good stuff! Fillet Mignon! And not just any fillet...you do not need a steak knife to cut this piece of meat. WOW! It was a perfectly prepared medium with a sauce to die for...no additional sauce required.

Another neat detail is the plates the meat sits on is scorching hot which makes for an interesting taste when they put the mashed potatoes on the plate in front of you and it singes ever so slightly. Added a unique and delicious dynamic to the entree.

Finally came the dessert which was a chocolate mouse made in-house. Another winner.

Overall, I am very much a fan of this place. The only negatives were the high drink prices and the average salad but I am sure you can tell by this point...the good far outweigh the bad.

Finally got over to try Shanahan's this weekend, and was NOT disappointed. While it is a huge location, they have managed to make it feel intimate.  The wine and glassware on the way in is impressive, and when you see the size of the wine list, you'll understand why they have sommeliers on hand.

We started with the sashimi grade ahi tuna sampler which was delicious!

We went with French Onion Soup and Ceasar Salad.  The french onion was the best I've had in some time in Denver. The ceasar had lots of fresh grated parmesan and was sizable for the price.

Decided to do the salmon while my significant other went with the filet. The filet was seasoned to perfection, but actually a little overcooked which may have had more to do with the plate it was served on (which was still on fire when he finished his meal).  The salmon was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth, but could have used a bit more beurre blanc for my liking.  Delicious nonetheless, as well as the sea salted asparagus, and garlic mashed potatoes.

Desert did not disappoint either. Cheescake with Blueberries, and chocolate cake with raspberries. My only complaint was that I was so full from dinner I could only eat one bite of my cake, but thankfully they packaged it up well to go home with me.

Great atmosphere, and nice that it's not downtown.

When my friend that lives in Denver recommended we go to Shanahan's I was skeptical; I've been to many celebrity restaurants and have very rarely left thinking I'd go back, much less, that was one of the best meals I ever had!  Boy was I surprised at Shanahan's.  The place is enormous and very upscale with a large bar and private rooms.  I think there was outdoor dining too but we were there in the winter.  I started with the lettuce wedge and I can easily say it was the best wedge I ever had.  The portion was large and they didn't skimp on bacon but what made this salad was the blue cheese dressing!  Even my dining companion agreed it was the best we'd ever had.  I also tasted another appetizer that was awesome.  Then came the entree.  They have lots of steaks but I went with the pork chop.  This chop was enormous - close to 2" thick!  Normally I see a chop that large and I figure it's ruined but that was not the case here.  Perfectly cooked and moist throughout. Yummy.  On top of everything else they have s nice selection of beer and a huge choice of wine.  All in all a fantastic meal and highly recommended!  P.S. I dont eat dessert but my dining partners said that too was great except that the creme brulee wasn't toasted properly.

This was probably the best steak I've ever had, and since I am very particular about how my meat is cooked, that's saying a lot.

The whole experience here was just awesome. Great ambience and simply amazing service, everything was excellent from the second I walked in the door until we left.

I had the bone in filet and it was tender and well done, the way I like it. All the sides are family-style, so the wife and I shared some broccoli mashed potatoes. We also started with the calamari (breaded to perfection!) and ended with a free piece of chocolate cake (so sweet and amazing I'm salivating just thinking about it). It was our anniversary dinner and apparently the free cake is their thing. I feel like it should be my anniversary there at least once a month!

Love it, and I'll be back the next time I want a great steak!

We celebrated our wedding anniversary with Shanahan's this weekend and were so glad we choose them to mark the occasion!

Located in DTC, Shanahan's is a nice upscale steakhouse that specializes in both seafood and quality beef.  The place is beautiful as you walk in with a hallway of wine and don't forget those super bowl trophies (replicas I assume)!  It also has a simply gigantic bar as you come in and would be a prime spot for some after work happy hour action.

We made reservations since it was Saturday night.  They got us in right as we came in (a few minutes early) and everyone we encountered wished us a happy anniversary.  Always a nice touch.  We were seated at a booth and our waiter (Ryan, I believe) came over right away.  He was extremely personable and very knowledgeable about the menu.

We started with the calamari.  It was a huge pile of freshly breaded and fried rings of calamari with blue cheese stuffed olives on the plate and two dipping sauces (cocktail and a delish garlic horseradish cream thing).  The calamari was very fresh and they didn't over do it with the breading, it enhanced the taste and didn't overpower it.  For dinner, the hubby and I both had the bone in filet, broccoli with cheddar/dijon sauce and the garlic mashed potatoes.  I hate when people say this on yelp and I am about to say it, but this steak was the absolute best I have ever had.  It is a thick 14 oz cut with the bone in actually alone the side of the cut (not running through) and it was perfectly seasoned and extremely tender.  They actually sear it and then broil it to get it up to the temp you want.  Mine was perfectly medium rare throughout (warm to the touch). I also got the green peppercorn sauce on the side and it was out of this world  Kind of an earthly, lightly peppery gravy sauce. They keep the plates sizzling hot so the food stays hot during the meal. The sides were great too, the broccoli was bright and fresh and the potatoes where creamy.

Since it was our anniversary they presented us with their signature chocolate cake (complimentary).  A huge slice of moist chocolate cake with chocolate icing and raspberry sauce on the plate + a little freshly whipped up cream.  It was a delicious rich treat.

The entire staff, especially our waiter, was friendly and helpful.  The food was superb. and the atmosphere was romantic. I loved it.  It was a great choice to celebrate something special.

Was very convenient to the Marriott.  Your typical fillet and prices.  Great wine list.   Was a slow night.  Dinner was very good.  Serves the DTC area well.

    All the food was good.

Took my wife here for her birthday. It was great.

I had the lobster & steak and it was fantastic.
The service was amazing. Our server was awesome.

If I had to say, this might have been the best dining experience in Denver.

It was a tad pricey, but in this case, I am pretty sure you get what you pay for. It was totally worth it.

    Will go again.

An eclectic, classy establishment, Shanahan's is consistently phenomenal; the food is outstanding and the staff do everything to make it a memorable dining experience.

Although the items are what you'd expect from a comparable steakhouse (steak, seafood, salad, etc), Shanahan's does everything better--it's all about big flavor, superb ingredients and attention to detail.

Kick off the meal with king-size onion rings, OUTSTANDING French onion soup, plump jumbo shrimp or a hearty wedge salad.  Be sure to browse the impressive beer and wine list (over 4,000 bottles of red and 1,200 of white wine are on-site!) and explore the specialty cocktail lineup.

The STEAK!!!  Expect the most superb, melt-in-your-mouth cut that you've ever had; they're seasoned with a secret spice rub and are grilled to perfection. The searing hot plates keep the à la cart sides (creamed spinach, truffled mac 'n cheese, sweet potato fries, garlic mashed potatoes...) pleasantly toasty until the last bite.

Dessert is a must!  We chose the Signature lemon shortcake--soft lady fingers layered with lemon custard and house-prepared whipped cream. Other decadent options are crème brûlée, baked apple cake, Signature chocolate cake, plus homemade ice cream and sorbet.

Whether you're out for drinks and appetizers, enjoying the Sunday Prix-Fixe menu or celebrating a special occasion, expect to have a fabulous time.

We had a work event here for about 20 people.  The private dining room in the back was great, but maybe a little dark.  The service was excellent and the food was incredible.

My table shared some perfectly prepared shrimp cocktail to start.  These were nice and dry and just rubbery enough.  The cocktail sauce was great too - very nice bite to it.

It is a steak place, so that is what you should order.  I got the bone-in filet and it was great.  Leaving the bone in definitely gives some great flavor.  We shared big, family-style sides.  The baked potato was just ok and the lyonnaise potato was great.  The big winner was the creamed spinach - honestly the BEST I have ever had.

Everyone shared desserts and by far the favorite was the apple cake - sounds simple , but it was great with lots of awesome caramelized walnuts.

    Great restaurant.

Please take note.... this is a vegetarian reviewing a steakhouse. And with that being said:
My meal was Meh... salad was soaked in dressing, therefore it was a little soggy. Asparagus was a little overcooked, but the basalmic flavor was great. The baked potato was lack luster, not that you'd expect a baked potato to impress. And the glass half full: hubster LOVED his del monaco rib eye (I hope I'm saying that right?)

And the true reason for my four stars: great wine selection and wait for it......
MARSHMALLOW ICE CREAM! But seriously people, this was the most amazing ice cream I have ever had. I will literally return to Shanahan's JUST for the ice cream.

As good a steakhouse as I recall experiencing. Everything from the service to the ambiance was fantastic. Lobster mac 'n' cheese was tremendous, filet was perfect. Cocktails were great and a really nice wine list.
Can't think of a single thing that wasn't first rate.

One of the most amazing dinners I have had in quite awhile. My filet was the perfect size, temperature and flavor. The sides were delicious and the oysters were fantastic! Wine may be pricey (but at what steakhouse is it not?), The staff and valet guys were courteous and friendly.

Can't wait to try one of their concerts next summer!

One word: Fantastic. My anniversary and they brought us the Shanahan's chocolate cake, compliments of the chef and staff. The bone-in Kansas City Ribeye was good enough to warrant a wonderful review but when they offered to take the Lombardi trophy out for me... WINNER!!!
    Of course I said yes!!

Shockingly, we had terrible service.  She kept disappearing and not coming back to the table.  That can really ruin your experience!

I had the filet with a side of asparagus and both were DELICIOUS!!!  They were having a special that night of a Lobster Mac-N-Cheese side and we decided to order it as an appetizer.  YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!  Just how I like my Mac-N-Cheese.  They should add that to their menu as a permanent item.  It was as good as the one I had in Dallas recently except that one was with ham and this one had lobster (not sure I have a preference).

Wine list is actually pretty decent (by the glass), but it could be better for a place of this caliber.  They should really hire a new Som (if they even have one).

The decor is nice, the bartender was awesome.

All in all it was fine, a bit over priced but what do you expect...

Shanahan's feels great as soon as you walk in the door. Classy but not over the top. It has a comfortable vibe until you order food. All three of us ordered steaks which are excellent. We also orderd a couple side dishes and my main complaint is that I don't need 4 people serving side dishes. When our food came, there were so many people at the table it was silly. The side dishes are "family" style" and there were just too many people serving us at the same time.  Sometimes less is better

By admission, my experience at Shanahan's was nothing short of 5 stars.   I had the pleasure of wrapping up a very long business trip in Denver, with co-workers and we were treated to one of the finest meals I've had in 2012.

The wine pairings were nothing short of spectacular and the Swordfish plate I ordered was also top shelf.

That said... I wouldn't go out of my way to visit Shanahan's again.  My biggest objection before setting foot into the establishment was that it has some association with former Head Coach Mike Shanahon.

So if you've ever been to Ditka's, Landry's, Shula's...  you catch my drift here; then you've been to them all.

The wait staff was great, despite having to do a little recovery at our table when one of the plates was not prepared to instruction.

If you're into Head Coach establishments... you'll likely have a good time.

I was extremely disappointed in our happy hour experience after hearing all of the hype at Shanahan's.  The service was TERRIBLE!  It wasn't busy, and the waiters/waitresses were hanging out talking.  I had to wave our waitress over every time we wanted our water glasses filled or wanted to order more.  Then she would forget half the order EVERY TIME.  The crowd...dead.  My tuna appetizer...delicious, but way too expensive for happy hour.  The wine...had a delicious and an average glass...again too pricey for happy hour.  I had one appetizer and two glasses of wine (all happy hour prices) and spent $43 with tax and tip.  That is a dinner price - not happy hour.  We won't be returning...for anything.

Granted, I went to a steak and seafood house and got neither...so perhaps this review is not the most informative for somebody looking to see how the restaurant is on those fronts.  The restaurant is beautiful, very well decorated.  The bar area is schwanky and they had a very extensive beer and wine list.
I had a chopped salad and the lobster & truffle mac n cheese.  I can't say that I was overwhelmed by the flavor in either.  With salami and bacon and a fancy ranch dressing, I expected the salad to taste...more...well just more.  And I felt the same way about the lobster & truffle mac n cheese.  It sounds so decadent and rich and comes so highly recommended based on other yelp reviews, I just expected more flavor.  And I don't think either was a case of missing the subtle complexities of the flavors of either dish; they were just a bit on the safe side made for appealing to the greatest percentage of palates possible.  I ended up using a lot of pepper in my food.
The restaurant is spendy; and the bar prices are almost over the top high.
The service is quite good with the right amount of attention and good knowledge of their foods and drinks.
Overall, an okay meal and a really high tab with good service.  Meh.

So very fancy, you are, Shanahans....

I got the petite filet.  It came with a fried mashed potato ball - or for the rich people a "blue cheese potato croquette".  A lot of us ordered sides as well.  The spinach and asparagus was excellent.  The mushrooms were ok.  I was kind of bummed, because they serve the sides to you - and they only give you like a teaspoon.  Many folks at our table didnt order sides, but got a taste anyways... so with a bunch of tastes, the ones who actually wanted them got the screw.

For dessert, we ordered a creme brulee and the apple cake.  Let me just say - that apple cake murdered the creme brulee.  It was so warm and saucy and cinamonny.  I would fight someone over that cake.

I really enjoyed my meal here.  The service was great (minus the free serving of my sides to other people).   Definitely a special occasion treat!

Oh, another cool thing, is they have the Lombardi Super Bowl trophies in a display.  Also two University of Florida rings - from players that (Im assuming played for the Broncos)  Go Gators!

I had the bone in rib eye. It was gr8. The ambience is very upscale but unpretentious. The entire staff were on top of their game. Not only were they helpful but very nice to look at. Beautiful people both inside and out.

The creamed corn was ok. Ive had better but the steaks were awesome.

Def pricey but you know that going in. Would def go again.

The service is awesome and the food is pretty good, but it's just that: pretty good.  And at the prices they charge ($16 for a salad, $40 for an entree with no sides and really no over the top creativity) it should make your head explode by how good it is.

As with many of the spots in the DTC, I'm just glad I wasn't paying.

The bread they start with is great and overflowing in baskets and tastes like an everything bagel.  They have a whole book of wine and a sommelier on hand to tell you about the wine and decant it.  My wine glass was never empty.

The server was very friendly, but when I informed him I was meat-free with the exception of fish, he made the comment "well, the ahi tuna would probably be your best bet then, since it's probably the healthiest of the fish options".  Uhhhh....what does that have to do with anything?  I ended up ordering the burrata salad and the sea bass.

The burrata salad, while good, was not what I would come to expect from fine dining.  For starters, the tomatoes were hurt-your-teeth cold.  If you're truly proud of your tomatoes, they should never be refrigerated in the first place.  I'm pretty sure they pulled the whole thing out of a fridge where it had been hanging out all day since it had been prepped.

The sea bass was great.  It was a large piece in a very bright and fragrant saffron sauce.

They also do sides family style here (which is why sides will run you around $10 a piece).  The mac and cheese is super rich and doused in truffle oil and the broccoli is broccoli.

I was also able to get a very servicable mojito, but at $12, again I'm glad I wasn't paying.

All in all, one of the better high priced options in the DTC, but still has that over-inflated-because-this-is-coming-out-of-an-expense-account sort of theme common to the area.

Check out the patio with couches and a roaring fire and you really feel like you're in a man's man restaurant.

Service outstanding to match the food.

Filet cooked to perfection and the sides and appetizers were appealing to the eye and pallet. The sous chef's even helped bring the food to the table and serve the side dishes.  I recommend the Filet Oscar and the truffled Mac.

Only negative was that the large round table (8top) was too large and we could not hear or see each other very well (see due to the bright outdoor light through the windows, which the server said they could not lower).

Overall one of the best restaurants in town!  Well worth the high price point!

We went to Shanahan's a few weeks ago for my brother's birthday and wow, what a treat. I am glad my parents picked up the bill because it sure was pricy. I didn't order my 2-year-old son a kid's meal seeing that it was $18 - Needless to say, he ate of my plate instead.

The food was amazing - We all shared a few appetizers which were great. I shared a tomato basil salad with my mom - the tomatoes weren't super good, but the balsamic drizzle was yummy. For my entree, I had the Mahi Mahi which I loved. The sauce was a sweet potato puree which was excellent. Our entire table shared a few sides - potatoes au gratin (amazing), creamed corn (also amazing) and asparagus which was good.

The service was impeccable - There was 12 people in our party, so when it came time to serve us our food, 6 of the wait staff came out to serve our food - Yes, 6 people. I actually counted. We each were served at the same exact time so all of our food was hot.

There were several people circling the restaurant throughout the meal just to fill our water glasses - My water glass was never empty, which in my mind is a great thing since I drink a lot of water.

All in all, it was an amazing dinner and amazing service. I would definitely go back there again, pending someone else picks up our bill!

I had waited a long time to go here, so on Valentine's Day I pulled some strings to get in last minute.  They were outstanding!  They had somlier's available to discuss the wine list, and the seafood is outstanding.  We had the scallops and they were cooked perfectly, which is a rare thing!  The brussels sprouts were a bit on the mushy side for my taste though, I like them as fresh and non-mushy as possible (you should have a look at this Mike :).
Overall a great experience with outstanding service and food.
Go for it on a special occasion!

Ok, Shanahan's.  We've got to have a talk.

    Sit down and listen.

The first time I went to you, you disappointed me SO badly.  It was awful.  So awful that I wrote to management.  They gave me a gift certificate once they had read how that dinner had gone.  So Mr. Mixer and I were ready to try to be friends with you again.

And we were disappointed again.  It was nothing like the first time.  That was a comedy of errors that will never be matched.  But it wasn't good.

Do you remember how you can never get us sat at close to our reservation time? On Monday evening, it took you a good half an hour after our reservation time had come and gone before we got a table.  A cramped, little table, where everyone and their mother was running into the back of my chair as they were passing.

And then came the meal.  Your beef carpaccio was nice, but shaved so thin that we couldn't lift it off the plate.  It totally fell apart.  The mustard sauce was drizzled so heavily and the parmesan so dense that we couldn't really taste the meat.  Then I had the wedge salad, which was nice and rich.  Mr. Mixer had the lobster bisque, which was the highlight of the meal.

Then there were steaks.  They were properly cooked, oh yes.  But they were massively over seasoned, oh no.  So salty.  Neither of us wanted to finish the steaks.  The sauteed mushrooms were very nice, but the truffle mac and cheese was bland.

The server was nice, but somewhat inattentive.  Small things, like not being able to order our meal until our appetizer had sat at the table for quite awhile really bothered me about you.  I'm glad that carpaccio wasn't getting cold while we waited for someone to take our menus away.

All in all, Shanahan's, I don't think we're good for each other.  I'll try to remember the good times and forget about the bad.  But I think I can find someone better.

I am giving the "Signature Bone-In Filet" a 5-Star rating. If  6 stars were an option I'd select it. Boom.
If you dine at Shanahan's, you'd be a fool not to order the Bone-In Filet. I honestly think it's the best steak I've ever had, and let me tell you I am a meat eater and you can almost always find me eating a New York Strip, but not when I'm at Shanahan's.
It's 48 dollars which is ridiculous I know, but from the words of my friend Courtney, don't get stuck with "meat-envy" at a table when you elect not to try it and someone else goes for it!!

If you're pressed for time or on a strict budget, you might go elsewhere, but with time and money to spend, you can't beat Shanahan's for a nice meal on the town.

Dungeness Crab, SashimiGradeAhiTunaTartar, and Wagyu Rib Eye appetizers are all AMAZING.   Try the  Bone-in Filet.  It is expensive, but I've never tasted a better steak and I have tried my fair share of steaks.  I have yet to taste a side I didn't enjoy.  Service is top notch, staff is knowledgeable about the menu and a Sommelier works full time to ensure great wine pairings.  Try the lemon cake for dessert and I promise you'll leave satisfied, full, and planning your next visit.

This Steakhouse beats their neighbors by a long shot (Del's, Brook's, Cool River and Morton's are all light years behind in both menu offerings and atmosphere!)

If you aren't ready to indulge in the full menu, visit for Happy Hour after work for 25% off appetizers and 1/2 off all glasses of wine.  You will not regret it!  OR, check their website for Sunday night specials, you'll save a few bucks and still get to indulge in their wonderful meats and sides.

We loved Shanahans!  Everything was delicious!

The scallops were the best there!  It was tasty and cooked perfectly!  So fresh!

My favorite steak of the night would have been the Ribeye.  It has the perfect fat/meat ratio that gave the steak enough tenderness and flavor!

You have to try their mac and cheese!  Best one yet!

    Two words...truffle butter.

Debated here and Del Friscos - decided on Shanahan's and really glad we did.

Ambience - very good. 8:15 reservations - only one available. Got there at 8 and were shown immediately to our table.  That is was a cold night and we were seated in front of a roaring fireplace didn't hurt either.

Food - I had petit filet and lobster; The Hub had a porterhouse with truffle butter.  He liked it so much I requested a side of it for my filet.  Truffle butter is terrific but best on the side so you can portion as you see fit.  Both of our meals, including au gratin potatoes were a 10. Creme brûlée was also fine.

Service - the main reason for me to go again.  Food is everywhere but the attention we got from John, our waiter was perfect.  His knowledge of wine, whiskey and I expect - song gave us food and drink for thought.  Exceptional!

We felt feted, well fed and yes, pricey but don't you deserve a break today?

The client selected Shanahan's so why not? I kept comparing it to Elways. Couldn't help it. Staff were warm and zero attitude. Not a single open table and but we could still hear each other speak w/o issue. I asked the manager and he said they embedded acoustical baffling materials in the walls and ceiling.

Smoked trout was superb. Lobster bisque was a huge portion, enough or two. We had a nice evening, but for 4 people, $380.00 just seems silly. And I assure you we minimized the cocktails. Just too risky on a Saturday evening and a long drive back downtown to get home.

Once was enought...but not issues.  It's just too bloody expensive and far.

A great restaurant- but not fabulous.

And 3 stars for 2 reasons: the food was very good; portions were generous, but still not great. I had the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake entree with a side of Caramelized Onions. The sauce was tomato based with light seasonings; it didn't compliment the crab cakes, and definitely needs improvement. The entrée wasn't the best, but it also wasn't the worst.

Service was excellent until we declined dessert. My friend and I weren't drinking cocktails, and we didn't want anything else, but to chat for a while. This ended when the Server abruptly removed everything from our table, left the bill, returned immediately to pick up payment and never came back. We took the hint and left. I'm not sure if anyone else has had a similar experience, but it wasn't pleasant, and not expected in this kind of restaurant.

I know how difficult it is to be a Server in a restaurant; however, I also know that if you want a good tip (25-30%), then the service should remain excellent with no exceptions.

I believe in giving some restaurants a second chance, as long as the experience was relatively good. I'll go back in the near future, but not any time soon.
