In my day of catharsis, the day before I hit double nickels (age, not on the highway0, I stopped into "the sixth".  I haven't been here since I was a young lad punting about after young ladies on band nights.  Step in and I'm greeted by Miss Betty.  Not the ugly one on TV.  Just the one with the biggest smile you've ever seen.  All my bartenders should be this nice. Back that up with a brilliant Guinness draft for a proper price and things were off to a massive start.

Before life became so complicated and money was somewhat plentiful, my Saturdays were somewhat predictible.  Piss about the house all morning, cleaning, chasing the cat and watching a bit of the telly.  Until about 4 pm, when it was time to go out and find a new place to have a burger.  The tradition didn't continue, mostly because the supply ran out.  Kinda tough looking forward to a burger when most of them make you sick.

Setting aside the possibility of a spacial whackado on 12/12/12 and setting aside my love for the Ivy Tavern's burger in Providence, I decided again to trust in the mores of chance and ordered a burger.  Accompanied What the heck was I doing ?  Was I mad ??  Stupid ?  No comments on that one PuhLEEEZE!!  So back to that burger. by crispy, fresh cole slaw, the burger was perfectly cooked.  No cheese ordered, no need to cover up the taste. Let it stand on its own, I thought. I took one bite.  And another.  And another.  I was looking forward to another bite???!!!  The grilled onions were HUGE and added that "omg, on this Saturday morning, this thing tastes awesome!" kind of experience.

Sounds like I'm in for a return engagement.  Can't imagine why you shouldn't.  Thank you Betty!

Not your typical bar with a restaurant.  Lots of Portuguese/Spanish dishes and seafood that is freshly made to order.  If you like clam bake Portuguese style, you'll like this place.  The fish and chip order comes in small and large.  If you are not "Haystack Calhoun" get the small!  The piece of cod fish I got must've been 12 oz at least.  Great quahogs, chowder and kale soup too.  We went for lunch 3 times last week.  ;0)
    Priced right and great quality.
    Excellent service too.
