If you catch it on an off night, it's a quiet little bar with friendly staff and an oddly local feel (considering the fact that it's attached to a Ramada Inn). We had been there a couple of months prior while we were doing some business in the area related to our upcoming wedding, and the bartender was great. Â And then to top it off, when we went out there on the weekend of the wedding, she remembered us! Â When a large swath of my wife's extended family descended on an already full house for a couple of drinks the day before the wedding, they graciously allowed us to take over the restaurant portion of the building which was closed.
It can be a little strange walking in, with all sorts of characters hanging around the front door smoking and drinking in the parking lot. Â It seems like the normal thing is to back your pickup truck in to the spots right at the front door, lower the tailgate, and sit there drinking while others mill about. Â The inside fills up quickly, so it really is best to go on an off day.
The restaurant area has pretty standard diner food, and serves breakfast until 11am. The Cajun fried pickles are decidedly more fried pickle than Cajun, but they tasted good. Unfortunately the "bar smell" from the bar flows into the restaurant and it's really pretty unpleasant. You grow accustomed to it I guess, but every time I would leave the room and come back I was assaulted with it again.
The bathrooms look and smell pretty rough, breathe through your mouth if you have to pee. While in there at one point I witnessed one employee use the restroom and leave without washing his hands.
