Service was bad and bartender was rude food was not worth the wait

We hit Smitty's almost every time we're at the beach, sometimes the food and service are great & other times not so much, very hit & miss.  This time, however, we were very disappointed to see that the Happy Hour food "specials" had turned into a food "special" - shrimp only.  Seriously??  No wonder there were only three other people at the bar besides us.  Also, please put the baby scallops back on the menu -- they were awesome !!

The cajun rock fish tacos were very good.  The buffalo chicken dip appetizer was average and not spicy at all, even though there was a warning on the menu.  The place is packed with tv's and I'm sure it would be a great place to watch a game.

Had to wait quite a while for food, which was priced a bit high in my opinion.  Once it finally arrived, food was average. Service was slow, had to wait numerous times just to get drink refills.  Probably not going back.

Average food. If you want to pay nearly 17 bucks for a salad that has brown lettus in it or tiny chicken wings [more like chicken feet] this is the place for you. Nachos are good. Very average Happy hour and football specials. The owner walks around and doesn't speak or smile. The band on Thursday and friday is very good. The only reason I go in there. I never order food I eat before I go watch the band.

Don't let the cool sports bar vibe fool you. We ordered the crab fries, bourbon wings & grouper tenders. Boo, boo & boo! Everything we ordered was subpar. Wings too salty, fries poorly executed and the fish was fried so dark we sent it back. As someone visiting from out of down I thoroughly disappointed :-(

Bourbon  wings are spectacular. Fun atmosphere and friendly bar staff. Even better, we got to see Misty and Kerri win their place in the all-American finals!

My wife and 3 kids stopped by here for lunch on our way home.  We heard this place was pretty good from relatives, so we decided to try it.
We walked in and it wasn't very busy, and we were told we could seat ourselves.
It is a sports bar, with plenty of TV's around the room, though the same channel was playing on all the TV's. A little variety would have been nice.
We were seated and given menu's, of which there are no childrens menu's. To be honest, printing out a menu with smaller portions from the larger menu wouldn't be a bad idea.
My wife ordered the Fish tacos, which she was looking forward too. According to here, they were ok. They didn't look like much, with not much on them. They came wrapped in a soft tortilla shell with very little but the fish inside. So not to impressive.
I got the Buffalo Chicken pizza. I think they forgot the "buffalo" part, because all it seemed to be was 4 pieces of pita bread covered in chicken and cheese, and really no spice at all. I asked the waitress for more hot sauce to liven it up.
The service was ok. Our waitress was good about giving me a new glass of water after I found something small and black floating in it.
I would give this place 2 stars, but my father in law says they have the best chili cheese dogs.

Its a sports bar plain a simple.  The bar was very large and they had a lot of TV's which is good.  The night I was there was extremely busy however the service and food wait was still decent.  It was standard bar fare with some seafood dishes mixed in which would be expected. The Hawaiian Ciabatta was a tasty sandwhich and wings seemed pretty popular here however I did not sample them.   I caught the tail end of happy hour and drink prices were fine.  I'll definitely be back particularly come football season.

Wife and I dined for lunch 9/15/11.

Smitty's is in our regular rotation at the beach and did not disappoint this trip.

Meal consisted of grouper fingers, crab tater tots, and wings.  All were cooked perfectly and very good.

walked in, place was not very busy and we waited a few minutes and no one ever came to seat us which was ok anyway because the place did not look very cozy and was pretty lame.

I don't know what's happened since we first started coming to Smitty's. It used to be packed regardless of the time or day. My wife and I had first gone to Smitty McGees in Selbyville at 9:45 pm (Tuesday) and walked out because the place was DEAD.   The bar had 3 people, and one couple at a table.  No waitress to be seen. When she finally did come out from the kitchen, she washed a couple of things, looked at us, and walked back into the kitchen LOL.  As we left I asked the bartender why it was so dead, and his response was "Summer's over".  Meanwhile, we went to Liquid Assets and the place was packed. I guess Summer wasn't over for them...

Smitty's is located in a strip mall and as other people have posted it makes you feel that you're not at the shore.  They have bar inside and plenty of tables.

My friends have been raving about how good the wings were so I had to see if they compared to Union Jacks (Glenside, PA).  The wings were good and the Key West sauce was a winner.  I give them a solid B.  The Key West sauce reminded me of the sweet n sour from wings to go.

The cream of crab soup is top notch.  This is a must try!  The garlic crab toast $8.99 was awesome.  It was garlic bread topped with Smitty McGee's awesome crab dip and smothered in cheddar and Jack cheeses . Anytime there are tater tots on the menu I have to get them. I can't recall exactly what was on the tots but they were like $5 and well worth the price.

All of the guys split wings and my girlfriend had the Crabby Chick $9.99
This sandwich had Cajun chicken breast topped with crab dip and melted Jack and cheddar cheeses. She gave it two thumbs up.  I will always try to stop by Smitty's when down in OCMD.  Great spot.

Awesome wings...wish they had one of these places near where I lived. This is always on the agenda to have happy hour here when at the beach. It's a little bit off the beaten path but not by much from Coastal Highway. The make your own bloody mary bar is great too. Anytime I've gone there, even in the middle of summer, the wait isn't bad at all.

You would literally have to pay me to come here again.

We waited for over two hours to be seated. I don't mind waiting, but there were numerous other parties of the same size who were seated way before us. The hostess was rude.

Waitress was terrible. She didn't welcome us, didn't offer us refills or second drinks, didn't ask about our food after it FINALLY came. The service truly was awful. We watched the waitress standing around and talking to the other waitstaff most of the time.

The food was marginal. The atmosphere was bland and cramped.

I'm not sure if you've ever been to the Quakertown Wal-Mart, but I'd much rather hang out and eat there (or stay at home and not eat at all) than have to go back to Smitty McGees.

Don't bother. The service is terrible, and the food isn't worth the money. The staff clearly favors locals. They don't give a crap about the tourists. Harpoon Hanna's is right down the road with better service, food, and entertainment.

Smitty McGee's makes you forget you're at the beach - take that for what it's worth.  It's a sports bar that attracts psychojocks who live to be loud and obnoxious - psychojocks of all ages.  I even heard 55 year old men yell and laugh at the top of their lungs.  This location is better suited to Vegas than Fenwick Island, but I digress.  At least they have Buzztime trivia, although Harpoon Hannah's down the road does too, and my eardrums aren't in pain when I visit Hannah's.

The bar at Smitty's is the star - the longest bar I think I've seen in my history of bar hopping.  And it's usually at full capacity.  TVs, TVs, everywhere.  There is one particular bar tender here who is one of those tall, wide-shouldered, "I coulda been a football player had I not been addicted to steroids" types (loud to boot) that we've all experienced at places like this.

Smitty's is known for its wings, which are fine but I've had better at Hooters.  In fact, imagine Hooters with a long bar and no eye candy (for the guys at least), and you wouldn't be too far off.  Smitty's calls their Bloody Mary brunches on Sundays a "Bloody Mess," and they get an extra half star for that name.

Best wings in this galaxy.  Go with the nuclear and/or bourbon, and the bleu cheese dressing is second to none.

The chicken nachos used to be a menu item, but you can still get the regular nachos with $7 worth of chicken as an add on...  I miss the Smitty fries, and the skinny fries are not as good no matter what they say.  The crab dip is A+.

Also, the day I found out they didn't have High Life on tap anymore was a sad one, but it's still a great place to watch sports and go for St. Patrick's Day.

It used to be a lot better before Randy Lee Ashcraft started playing 2 nights a week, and I'm pretty sure that's why they quit doing wing specials.

This is a very popular bar with food on the side, they are nearly always busy using those flying saucer lights to signal you when your table is ready.  They move people in and out quickly; service is good and professional.   I have had wings there and fish sandwich.

I am a bit to old and stuck in my ways to come here often but I can see why it is popular.

My husband and I found ourselves in Fenwick Island this past Saturday night as we were back on the Eastern Shore visiting family. We decided to go out with my sister and some of her friends in Fenwick since OC was a bit crowded due to the cruise-in. Before hopping over to Harpoon Hanna's, eight of us decided to grab drinks and dinner at Smitty McGee's.

While the hostesses were very polite and were trying hard to find a way to accomodate our group at 8 pm on a Saturday night, we decided to just sit at the bar and order. Two bartenders waited on our group and did a fantastic job. Service (drinks and food) were quick considering how busy it was. My husband and I both had Yuengling drafts which we found out when we got our bill were $2.50 each! Had I known that, I would have had more than 2! We started with the crab dip appetizer which was delicious. I'm a sucker for things served in a bread bowl which may explain why I found it so heavenly. For dinner, I went simple and had a BLT. While my bacon was well done (per my request), there was not nearly enough of it on the sandwich! I felt like I was eating a tomato sandwich with a bit of bacon and lettuce on it. I like my BLTs to be heavy on the bacon with a bit of lettuce and tomato. Two sandwiches, an appetizer, and four drinks ran us $34 which we felt was cheap for what we had.

Even at 8 pm, there was live music playing. If you like sports, there are a ton of TVs throughout the bar and restaurant area and they had a good variety of events playing - I could watch the Mets game, while my husband could watch the Magic play, so we were both happy. If you are in the Fenwick area and want food and/or drinks in a laid back, friendly atmosphere, Smitty McGees is a great place to check out.

I love this place....I come for the bar atmosphere and am never disappointed.  We came in Saturday and were so excited to see that the Bloody Mary Bar was not just Sunday anymore (it had been a couple years since our last visit).  The vodka pour was generous and the choices of mixes, spices, accompaniments were too many to name - however the "fire in the hole" olives were crazy good!  Most of the wait staff was fun to chat with, but I have to say when you see the smoke coming out my ears....bring me a glass of water stat!

We did order oysters on the half shell, steamed spiced shrimp and an order of grouper fingers....all served quickly and were oh so tasty!!  A trip to the Fenwick Island area would not be complete without a visit to Smitty McGee's....I recommend it highly.

6/25/09 Went out for Dinner  2 GFs ,2 kids &  me. We ordered the steamed shrimp which I keep ordering expecting something else.
One of the kids had the shrimp. she was pleased with it. They were ok. Fortunately, we were charged the HH price for them. We also ordered burgers which were divine. Meat very tasty and cooked medium with onions & cheese. We also had fries which were ok. not real hot but edible.
Awesome wings with the sauce on the side. 1 GF had suicide sauce which was hotter than an inferno.  Waitress was excellent.
    Beers were good and cold
