Sno-Castle

Literally, the best summer afternoon treat ever.  Sure, its just sugar and ice, but that shaved ice is so perfectly textured and that strawberry sugar water is so precisely sweet and nearly sour.  

The only word of warning: Don't order grape on a date, your teeth will be tainted.

Sno-Castle - the best snow cone you will ever have in your life!  This is one of my favorite spots in Anderson.  I grew up on these snow cones in the summer and it's a must-have when I go home for visits now.  Sno-Castle doesn't look like much from the outside... it's a small castle-shaped booth that you can either drive or walk up to when placing an order.  Don't let the humble appearance deter you... you have got to try a snow cone from this place!  First of all, the menu of flavors is SUPER impressive - and you can do a half and half order and try out two flavors at once.  Check out the picture that I uploaded here.  There are a good number of sizes to choose from... I typically go with the Knight size.

Also... you know those snow cones where the ground up ice chunks are too big and all of the flavoring sinks to the bottom... leaving you eating near-flavorless ice for most of the snow cone?  That is NOT what happens at Sno-Castle.  Their ice shavings are microscopic.  It's literally like snow... every bite is equally absorbed with flavor.  Like I said, best snow cone you will ever eat in your life.

My favorite combination is half Wedding Cake, half French Vanilla.  And I really like half Cream Soda and half Cola, too.

There are tables and benches outside if you want to enjoy your snow cone there.  Oh, and they don't take plastic, so be sure to bring cash.  The picture I uploaded of the size options show the prices, too.  It costs what is listed, no tax.
