I am not a picky eater by any means, but the food was not good and it was extremely over priced for what you got. Our server was incredible, but both my food and my friends food was not good. Got the chicken quinoa plate and the burger and fries; boring, dry, and not good. Oh, and the ranch was yucky too :( sorry Social Taps.

I visited Ventura this past weekend and went to Social Tap.  I give them 5 stars all around.  The food is AMAZING (try the taco trio, YUM), they have a huge selection of drinks, the service is great and the ambiance is inviting.
They have done a nice job getting involved with the community from what I saw since I was there for an event.  This is definitely the place to be in Ventura.  I will be coming back.  :-)

We came here with a group of friends during Surf Rodeo so if was extremely packed. Our table of 9 ordered food and drinks, our waitress Roxie was great and the manager Brant took great care of us. Brant chatted with us for a bit and made sure we were taken care of. The customer service was incredible. We will definitely be back! I highly recommend the nachos and chocolate cake. And, of course the 805 beer:)

Fantastic Breakfast Burrito with Chorizo.  I split this and it was perfect with a side of fruit.  Their salsa in here is really good they gave us two variations of it and I loved the spicy one. They have a bar area you can sit in that opens up to the street and a bar also with TV screens.  Lots of seating inside and out and just a 2 min stroll to the beach.  I use to work off this street and I remember loving the quietness of being able to grab lunch and sit on the beach without dealing with the parking hassle you would get at the LA beaches, I wish this place was around back than.  So I stopped here on my way up North for a quick bite.  I haven't tried their lunch or dinner menu yet, so I will have to update my review on my next trip out but this is a really cool place to hang with friends for drinks- watch some tennis matches and stroll down to the beach that only locals hang out at.  No shopping along this strip that means no crowd of tourist here...haha love it!

Had the best BLT! A little too far to drive to (from San Diego) but we will stop again on our next trip. Really nice bar, good service indoor outdoor dining & a nice sea breeze!

Social Tap is a great place with great servers.  They are all so friendly and helpful with all the delish menu choices. I spent a perfect night with friends sharing laughs in a great local atmosphere. The food service is quick and yummy.  Ceviche w/house-made tortilla chips, grilled fish tacos and a quinoa salad were my perfect choices.  My friends ordered burgers and fries, soup and salad and were very happy with their orders too.  There were plenty of fries for all of us to enjoy.

A few reviewers have mentioned the valet parking.  I asked about this new twist and understand that Social Tap is watching out for it's customers.  Beach-goers were parking in the ST lot, walking through the restaurant and going to the beach for the day.  Since I like going to ST, I appreciate that there is a parking spot for me when I get there.  I know parking is tight down by the beach but if you are planning a day at the beach,  parking in a businesses designated lot isn't right.  I applaud Social Tap for looking out for their customers.

Between the service, the food, the atmosphere and the consideration to their customers, Social Tap is one of my favorites.

As a sports bar this place is pretty typical and not terrible, except that the last time I went the parking lot was closed off--because they made it VALET!

Are you kidding me? Is this the frikking Four Seasons? I realize that many of my favy restaurants may be owned by douchebags, and I just live in blissful ignorance. But if an owner displays their douchebaggery, I'm out!

The food is ok, but a bit overpriced. The service is reasonable, what you'd expect from a sports bar. I've been 3 times, but there is nothing here to make me want to go back.

Parking in the front was reserved for Valet only. Dislike that they are trying too hard to be fancy. Had to park down the street beach parking. Food was good. Server made some mistakes on our order, beer order, food order. She was apologetic and still nice about it.  They have beer flights and a decent list of beers to pick from. No Belgium on the list. They should had some.

I did enjoy the homemade fresh chips and fresh thick salsa.  Good bartender Robert knows what he's doing, and is a good promoter of the restaurant.

My friend and I went to The Social Tap one Sunday around 1 in the afternoon for lunch. We pulled up and there was complementary valet so we get out of the car (my friend has a bigger truck) and the valet guy runs to another part of the parking lot and says you can park it right here pointing to an open spot and we were kind of confused with what was going on until the guy came over and told us he can park the truck in that spot.

After walking inside the family that came in after us was seated first. The restaurant was not crowded at all. Finally we were sat at the long bench favoring the outside. We were handed our menus and the hostess left. We looked over the menu (nothing jumped up and caught my eye). The restaurant is by the beach and there was absolutely not seafood other then the fish and chips plate.

We waited five minutes after deciding what we each wanted until we started looking around, for a waitress. ten minutes go by still nothing. Finally after 20 minutes of waiting (no water no nothing) we got up and left. As we were leaving we noticed the family that was sat before us hadnt been waited on yet either. All the waiters and waitresses were at the bar talking with each other.

Needless to say the service sucks. And the food didn't sound like it was worth the wait.

We have been here twice.  The first time was great!  The location and ambiance were just what we were looking for, our waiter was really friendly and really took the time to make recommendations and help with selections of drinks and food.  They were quiet that night and maybe that was why we got the attention and enjoyed our evening.

Came back because we enjoyed it so much the first time and were very disappointed.  The place was full but we were seated right away.  The waitress kept rushing us, had no recommendations, when we asked for some things we had before, she had no idea what we were talking about.  Her attitude was horrible.  We were still eating when she kept coming over to take our plates.  Before the table was cleared, she left the bill without offering dessert and came back to grab it before we even had a chance to open it and pay .  So rude!!  And the food is pricey which is understandable for this type of place but not worthwhile due to the terrible service.  The waitress totally ruined what had been a great day.  UGH!

Okay, okay as everyone else has mentioned, this place has great ambience and location. The only reason I gave it three stars was because of the locale/ambience and the only qualified waitress, Yanna, who by the way had to run around like a crazy person because of the younger, unqualified hotties who wouldn't even make eye contact and ran around aimlessly attempting to deliver food without knowing where it belonged. Yanna, by the way rocked at customer service. With that said, food not so good.  My boyfriend's fish tacos, according to him were "slimy" and my chicken Caesar salad was pretty sad - how can you *%#* up a Caesar salad???  It had been drowned in dressing, had no crustini (which was a listed ingredient on the menu) and overall very bland even with all that dressing

If this establishment were located anywhere else in Ventura, I'd never go back again. Come on people, pull it together!!  Hire some qualified waitresses and get some quality control on the food coming out of the kitchen. We'll wait a few weeks and try again, which will be the last time if things remain the same.  That would be a real shame as the Pierpont area could really use a great business to bring it back to life.

Seasonal salad with Kale and quinoa for a side or main dish!  My faves!  Burgers and fries as well!  Oh yeah! and the beer... yummers!  Green Flash IPA!  Buffalo Burger... I'm in!  Walking distance to the beach, just off the freeway, whether you sit at the bar, front area, or outside... I'm going tonight to watch the Kings game!  Great place to watch sports!

Tough to rate since I went alone and only had one entree.  It was good.  That said, the location and place is really nice.  The service was real friendly and fast.  The quality of the food appeared to be great.  The menu was interesting enough that it took a while for me to pick my dish.  I made the mistake of getting tacos (they were good, but Jeez@!  I live in Oxnard!).  The other items looked really good and I should have tried them (like the roast turkey and havarti sandwich).  Anyway, overall a really good experience and I will definitely go again.  Oh, and they have a nice selection of local beers.

Ok but pricey. $6.50 for a beer is crazy!  I ordered the Buffalo Blue burger and it was ok.  The atmosphere is nice though - you can sit inside at a table or at the bar, or outside at the bar or table if you prefer.  They have heaters outside for when it's chilly.  Not the greatest service, but I am hoping they will work on it as they are still pretty new.  It's a good place to have in the back pocket to walk to or take company too though.  I'll give it another try for the food and hope it's better next time.

Could be great.....but not, good selection of beer,
Been there 5 times or so, waitresses and bartenders are cool, food is ok, nothing special, twice I was overcharged, bank statement was more than my check.
Of all the great bars and restaurants in Ventura...the only reason to go here is the location (have a couple drinks, then go to sushi or the little Italian place, capaletti's, down the street for good food!)

One more thing...the pock faced security guy is a pr!ck... Kicked a guy out for absolutely nothing, asked him why he did it "we don't want local riff raff in here"

    AMBIANCE: "F"
    SERVICE "F"
    FOOD "D-"
Big disappointment! Several times we were bought someone elses food. The servers walked around looking confused. Perhaps it is due to the ridiculous volumn of the music. It seems restaraunteurs in Ventura, are in it for the money.... not great food, or service. It just a bar with bad food. What would it take to get simply prepared seafood in a town that is located on the ocean? Lessons need to be learned from the food on the Gulf Coast , the East Coast, New Orleans, or the best, San Francisco.

My experience at the Social Tap reflects the majority of reviews that I see on here.  The place is in a great location and has a cool ambience and atmosphere.  The word of the day seems to be 'potential'.  It has a good selection of beers, a nice looking menu, and a cool place to hang out.

Unfortunately, the food was not that tasty; just meh.  What really got me upset was that we specifically went to the Social Tap for their happy hour and were seated in a high top table.  When the waitress came over we mentioned what we wanted for happy hour and she told us that happy hour was restricted to the bar area (which was full, fyi), a mere 5 FEET TO MY LEFT.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?  Any place that has a happy hour but DOESN'T offer if throughout the restaurant is bush league and deserves to lose business until it changes.

So until Social Tap works on their cuisine a bit and decides to quit being restrictive with their rules then we will not frequent their establishment anymore.  It may be a liquor license law or something along those lines but either way it's not acceptable.

I hate doing this for a new restaurant in Pierpont, but bartender was rude and in hurry to shut down the place, the dinner we had early was ok. Bartender ruined everything.

    -2.5 Stars-
Firstly, I must say this place has potential and the service was very friendly and attentive. That being said...

I was on a pub crawl with buddies and planned on drinking beer all day. Accordingly, I ordered a somewhat healthy lunch which was their blue cheese bison burger and substituted salad for fries. The burger was decent but nothing to write home about because half the burger was cooked a different amount than the other. The salad was obviously pre-made because it was very soggy and tired tasting.

They had a decent number of beers on tap but why the hell don't they serve pitchers?

In closing, I dig the ambiance and vibe of the place and I am very pleased to see Pierpont trying to clean up their act. Cheers

A must try!! I went on a Monday night and had excellent service. I ordered chicken tacos and they were too spicy. The waiter saw me guzzling a beer and asked if there was something wrong. I told him the tacos where just too spicy and he apologized. I felt bad cause the tacos were good just too spicy for me. He brought me some very delicious fish tacos. Then the manager came over to make sure we were ok. Great food and above and beyond service. My new hang out when I'm in Ventura. Thanks James!!!!

Been to Social Tap 2 times before on busy and slow nights. Both times we received good service, but last night we had NO SERVICE....

My co-workers and I just got off a long night of work and decided to get a few drinks at  Social Tap. We got there and the place was packed, but we found some seats at the smaller bar area to the right of the entrance. So we sat down and were started to talk on what drinks to get. We saw the bartender talking to other guest on the other side of the bar, but  we didn't mind because we were still thinking on what to get. About 5 minutes passed and the bartender came over to inform us that his bar was closed... He said he had closed things up and "Had no ice...." He then asked us if there were any seating at the larger bar area, which we told him there was no more empty seats. After that we left the bar.

Normally this isn't a big deal to me, but a couple of things annoyed me as we left the bar:

    1) For a bar claiming to be open until midnight they sure close early. (My group arrived at the bar a little past 10pm)

    2) How the bartender handle the events that happened. It took him 5 minutes to get to my friends and I to tell us the bar was closed, instead of telling us he was closed as soon as we sat down, and the lack of a solution to our service needs. Even if the smaller bar area is closed, which is hard to say when there were 3 other people at the bar. Could't he or a server order our drinks make it at the larger bar area and bring it to us?

    3) This experience left me the feeling that the bartender did not want to serve us for what ever the reason why and soured the rest of the evening for me and my co-workers.

I would have given them 1 star, but I have been there before and know they are not like this all the time, hence the extra star. As of now, I'm not sure if i will be return to this bar anytime soon.

Let's start off and say the service was excellent - I think it was Yanna? - Took care of our family and friends well.  Ceviche was good, guacamole good.  We sat off to the side and our server changed the channel to hockey and bball for us.  Very cool!  Tacos were solid.  Tried 3 different kinds.  Kids enjoyed their chicken and it was good to hang for a bit.  Green Flasch IPA on tap is always good.  Glad the beach has a new eatery.

This place has potential. I have said for years that this whole stretch of Seaward down by the beach is seriously underdeveloped. But that's a different discussion. We enjoyed our dinner and drinks at Social Tap on a Saturday night but we're not going to rush back. The drinks were average with the Patron Margarita being truly substandard. The waitress said that "it tastes like a skinny margarita." It did. Nice fresh lime juice but none of us could taste the "splash of pure cane triple sec" or the "splash of OJ." It was tequila and lime juice. But since they don't have hard cider on the menu, it sufficed.

The service...when we first got there the basketball game was still on so there was a crowd. It took a full 15 minutes to get our first drinks. They we delivered by a girl who explained that she was "helping our server" and couldn't take our food orders. So there was a delay in ordering our food. When the food was delivered, it was piecemeal (after another "helper" first tried to give us someone else's food). Tacos were delivered and we were told "30 seconds to the melt, another minute until the chicken burger and 30 seconds after that for the burger." About 2 minutes later the melt and chicken burger came out with the burger following by 4-5 minutes. So our choices were letting our food get cold or being rude and starting to eat before everything was delivered.

I am NOT a fan of food being delivered like that. We ordered as a group, you should know how long it all takes to cook. Don't assemble the tacos until you know everything else is almost ready.

The fish tacos were overwhelmed by the cabbage. And I mean overwhelmed in that  we weren't sure at first if there was ANY  fish. The beef and manchego melt wasn't bad except there were no poblanos to be found. Chicken burger and Niman beef burger were average if a bit dry.

After the game was over, a good half to 2/3s of the place cleared out but sadly, service didn't improve. She was nice but inefficient. She'd lean over and ask if everything was okay and then immediately turn to the table next to us just as we'd start to answer. Had to ask the hostess for silverware and napkins. We went extended periods with empty glasses and would have to wave at her for new drinks.

We had planned on staying for the whole evening but ended up bailing after dinner due to the poor service, meh drinks and lack of entertainment. I'm not sure if we'll give it another try.

I've lived in Ventura for a number of years and i was happy to learn that Social Tap moved into the run down building that stood there before.  The place is very clean and they have a nice selection of beer.  I had the ceviche' which was overrun with guacamole' and not a lot of ceveche' and I also had a bowl of chili which the waitress recommended - it was okay, nothing to write home about and actually the chili is better across the street at Dukes.  My daughter had the chicken burger which was excellent and huge.  She loved it.  The fries were okay - average.

The service was turtle slow.  We got there around noon and there were only 8 people on the outside patio and it took forever.  I'm not sure if we caught them when they just opened  or someone called in sick or what.

My daughter ordered a dessert - chocolate cake, it took almost 15 minutes to bring it out...finally our server came out and told us the cake was in the oven - huh?? I guess they bake them on demand?

I know this place is relatively new so I'll give it another try because the chicken burger was so good.  I hope the kinks get worked out on the service because having this place down on Seaward a block from the beach is a nice.

I travel 42 weeks a year so I would say I have  experience when it comes to "eating out".  Add to that I have written a book on customer service... I don't  give kudos unless deserved.

With the above in mind, I was/am very pleased with the food, service and ambiance at this establishment.  Even more impressive is it is on a street that is long-overdue for an upgrade in regard to restaurants and this one is exactly what Ventura needed on it's beachside.

An extra shout out goes to my server Colleen who guided my choices and provided prompt and friendly service.

Keep up the great work Team Social Tap!  Stay centered on good food, good vibes and the use of a tone of voice that  make your patrons feel you are truly... eager, able and happy to help.

Bonus:  they have public WiFi.  Try them out.

Stopped in for some A-dult time after the Tiny one's birthday party at Marina Park.

Overall it was good experience and just what we were all looking for.  Decent craft beer selection for me and my dude while also having a good cocktail selection for the ladies. The Moscow mule will def be ordered again.

I dig the artisan-like menu as well.  Not a huge selection but good array of items, all the necessaries for  a late night beer joint, with a little touch of farmers market style flavor.

Waiter Travis was on top of it.  We were in a less than decisive mood and not wanting to make any fast choices.  Didn't bother him any, kept a great attitude, suggested great drinks for the women folk and definitely added to the experience.

A little pricey but nothing too outrageous.  All in all a good time and will return.

Good draft beer selection but WHY DON'T THEY SELL PITCHERS?!!?!!? A bit on the pricey side for what you get both drink and food wise. Three taco selection is the best value.

3/1/13 update: I received a yelp message from Matt - guess he is the owner or manager of this place..?? Anyway, it was nice and explained the it's actually due to ABC alcohol licensing that doesn't allow them to have pitchers! That's a pretty good excuse albeit disappointing

    I like it!

Some of my favorite craft brews that you won't find at other places served up cold from the tap!

I've had the Buffalo and Bleu a couple of times, which is excellent and actually comes out mediuim rare when you order it that way. Not all dry like other Buffalo burgers I've had.

Tried a few of their tacos, all tasty.

Next trip I will man up and order the Bacon Burger. That's right, two big burger patties made out of BACON! Hope it's as amazing as it sounds.

On the downside, it's a little pricey and a little loud, and although the windows on the street that open all the way to give it that patio cafe feeling are nifty, they should be closed once the temps start dropping into the mid-60's.

I have mixed feelings...and therefore a mixed review.

The good: the beer and wine selection is good. There are plenty of tvs so it is a great spot to watch a game. The bartenders are friendly, the atmosphere is lively and the decor is nice.

The bad: the food is not good. And expensive for what it is. Not horrible, but certainly doesn't live up to what it aspires to be. The "homemade" chips taste stale, the veggie sandwich tastes funky, the tacos taste bland and the salads taste like nothing. Worse of all, they don't have a veggie patty substitute for their burgers. This is CA people--there are a lot of vegetarians.

The crowd is weird but I have come to expect and appreciate that about Pierpont.

The bottom line: great for grabbing a drink and watching a game. Skip it for dinner.

Everything we got was nasty. Nachos were gross with some creamy white cheese sauce, sliders tasted gamey-last flavor i excpected from a slider! I could not get the taste out of my mouth;/ the chilled shrimp with some sort of citrus salsa tasted like the frozen shrimp from vons...nothing special- 6 shrimp and salsa with a load of chips for $12....  very disappointed with everything we ate! Needs better beer selection and new menu/chef.

Cool looking hangout! Just needs some work in the food dept....

Visited Social Tap for the second time last night after a stellar time visiting them on their soft opening weekend.

Wow, what a difference in service and food quality. We were sat in a cold area and asked our server to move us to the middle of the room. Here's where it went down hill... waited about 10-12 minutes (which we all know, seems like an eternity) and finally had to ask the hostess to move us to a new section completely.

Service improved with the new waitress, so we were feeling better about our decision to be there. Our food came out and we weren't impressed as compared to our last visit. The fish and chips were bland, flavor-less and the chicken burger was slightly tough.

I always give a restaurant three solid tries, so I'm looking forward to coming back and giving them a better review!

Service was nonexistent, nobody helped us for the longest time, then when the waitress acutally paid attention to us she was incredibly rude and snotty.
Food was waaay to over priced for what you get, worst of all it made me and my boyfriend sick later on that day.

In short, the food was amazing. We ordered most of the tacos and a steak entree. Everything was very delicious. It was fresh, with balanced flavors. The cheesecake and chocolate cake were also, out of this world good.

Note, the restaurant had been open for just over a week and they need to work out some front of the house kinks. However, the food is well worth the wait.

This place is just what Ventura needed. Great beer selection and a little more of an exciting menu then I expected. Atmosphere is awesome (maybe a little crowded, but that was expected) with TVs showing NFL and NBA games. I can't wait to come when the weather is a little warmer.

Their BLT is made with two bacon patties which, as intriguing as it sounded, was wayyy too salty for me to enjoy as much as I would have liked to. They need to cut the salt on the patty down and this definitely would have been a hit. If you are really curious about it, add some avocado (and maybe a little balsamic vinegar if you're not a BLT purist) for some balance. Our party wasn't wowed by the Fish & Chips (noting it seemed little bland/meh), but still decent. Nachos looked delicious and were well received. Seems like everyone will be coming back to try some things off their taco menu.
