I have been wanting to try the whole 'Dining in the Dark' experience for a long time.  I was so excited to see Solita was doing it and offering a Groupon.

With the Groupon I had the option of booking reservations for either Tues, Wed or Thursday.  The reservation was for 8 pm.  When we arrived there we had to wait a little while for the other guests to show up.  We hung out in the bar area.

Finally myself and a group of other people were escorted to a separate dining area from the rest of the restaurant.  The tables are set up so that you can either be a couple or move tables together if you attend as a group.  There was a piece of bruschetta and a glass of water.  The waiters then explained the process.  We were going to be served a three course meal.  All of it was to be done in the dark.  The waiters would wear night vision goggles so they can bring us food and help us out if we needed to leave the dining area for any reason.  There was silverware and the waiters also mentioned that sometimes people like to eat with their hands for this experience.

Before any food was served the waiters came around and individually asked us if we had any food restrictions.  They also explained that the chef creates different foods for each event so it is not always the same.  Then the waiters came around and began taking the candles off the tables.  The lights went off and we were sitting in the dark.  The first course came out.  I was a little nervous at first thinking that I was going to make a mess.  It ended up being quite easy.  At first I used my fork and eventually also started using my hands.  The first course was a salad.  After each course the waiters asked if anyone would like to guess what they just ate.  They explained the components of each dish.  The second course for most people was a ravioli with some kind of meat.  I was brought an alternative course which was a pasta with mushrooms.  The third course for the others was some kind of chicken dish.  My third course was eggplant.

Although I did not eat the desserts they looked good and there was anything from chocolate cake, tiramisu and cannoli which were not served in the dark.  It was definitely a fun and different experience and I would love to do it again!

If I could give my experience more stars I would!! My boyfriend and I attended their Dining in the Dark event last night (Tuesday) and had a blast!

When we arrived we checked in with the manager and he was very nice. He talked to us a little bit about what was gonna happen through out the evening.

Since we arrived early we hung out at the bar and had a drink. The bartender was super nice and told us we were gonna have a great time. When we told him we really liked the wine he served us he showed us the bottle and said we should take a picture of it to remember haha

Michael, the server hosting the event soon came around and introduced himself. Michael was amazing! He was a BIG part of the night going so well. He not only did such a great job maneuvering around in the dark he had a wonderful personality. So nice and a great sense of humor. I definitely plan on returning back to Solitas and will definitely request Michael for a server.

Not only was the ambiance and service great but the food was spectacular.  With our Dinning in the Dark event we got a 3 course meal.  First up was an amazing fried eggplant dish topped with house made mozzarella, tomato, balsamic and Arugula.  The next course was a delicious pasta dish with italian sausage, mixed vegetables and a tomato sauce.  The 3rd course was a lightly breaded shrimp on top of sautéed spinach and a lemon butter cream sauce.   We topped it all off with a yummy dessert they called their Ugly Cake which was brownie, topped with cheesecake, chocolate cake and chocolate mousse.  It definitely satisfied any sweet craving.

The food was fabulous, the wait staff was fabulous, everything was just great.  Since we don't get out much with a 6 year old in the house, we were thrilled that we were able to have such an enjoyable night out.

Can't wait to return to SoLita's to see what other scrumtious dishes they cook up.

    Service was slow.
Linguine in clam sauce was drenched in red pepper flakes.  This ingredient was not on the menu.   Although our server insisted it was.  Below average food.not worth the money.
    Don't bother.
