Best spot in Leesburg, hands down. Great staff, great service, drinks and food.

If you're into loud bars, greasy, unappealing food, and servers who all but molest you to get a tip out of you, then this is the place for you.  For me, I don't enjoy any of the above when looking for a meal.

The food is atrocious.  The plate is a giant grease pit, and if that weren't bad enough, overall the food just doesn't taste good.  It's typical bar food fare over inflated in price.

I'm all for friendly service from wait staff, but don't sit in my booth next to me like we're best friends.  That's a Hooter's tactic, and the women here are far from the women you'd find there - and mind you they aren't all that either.

Noise wise - Well, let's just say that you can forget about having any conversations with you guests.  You'll never hear them over the loud live music and rowdy patrons coming through the very thin partition wall separating the dining area from the mosh pit of drunks.

I'm actually kind of confused as to why there's even a restaurant in this place, because they're clearly not catering to people who want to enjoy a meal.  It's more so if you need to eat something quickly so that you can lower your blood alcohol level faster so that you can hopefully drive home without getting a DWI, or worse, killing someone.

Classy people, heed my words and stay away.

First let me say I don't take time out of my busy schedule to write reviews so the fact that I am writing this should say a lot.
I was in Leesburg on business and had a lot to do so I ordered over the phone and had the food delivered to my room. It arrived in under 30 minutes and was still nice and hot.
I had the Caesar Salad with the flank steak. The salad was a bit skimpy but the steak was excellent and for the extra 3 dollars it was quit a bit. So 5 stars

I had the shrimp with pasta and both were excellent and a hearty portion with a very reasonable price. 5 stars again.

I saw a couple and only a couple of bad reviews and owning a business myself where I pride myself as being the best, I still get a couple here and there that will never be happy.

Spanky's was 5 Stars all the way

Love this place!  Irish bar it definitely is not, but it has a great pub atmosphere.  The food is very good too.  My friend and I ordered the fried pickles for an appetizer and sandwiches.  The fried pickles were good but a tad greasy.  My fish taco (made with mahi mahi) was fantastic though!  We had beers on tap, and our friendly waiters made sure we were never thirsty.  There was a great band (Ghost Pepper) playing as well, and we really enjoyed listening to the music.  There was a mixed clientele when we were there, with the majority of the younger crowd (20s/30s) in the smoking section.  Overall, it was a great place, reminiscent of the pubs from my college days, and we really enjoyed our evening there!  We will definitely be back!!

Usually, this place is great for breakfast. Great food and usually really good service. This morning my boyfriend and I sat down and the woman who was our server came over and demanded to know what we were having to drink, as though it is an inconvenience that we walked in. We can easily take our business elsewhere, where we are appreciated. It was quite a let down.

A dying breed of old school bars, the beer runs cold and the food is actually better-than-average when it comes to "bar food." Lots of TVs to watch sports or news. Do-able.

Place is alright.  There is nothing amazing about this pub. drinks are ok. food is ok. atmosphere is not bad.

    Solid burgers, and sandwiches.

Favorite pub in this area.  Drinks good, food good, smoking section.  What more can you ask from a pub?  Well, they're not Irish as advertised, and I don't usually like the Saturday night live music, but that's a personal thing. I'd prefer Irish music - maybe the local band Craggy Island. Plus, the wait staff can be cranky at times.

Overall, a solid three star place to get a drink and a quick burger or sandwich.

So this is a locals bar with good service and consistantly tasty bar food. I would recommend the sandwiches. I always have hard time deciding between the Wexford, the Danny Boy, the Mulligan and the chicken wrap. Their cheese fries are seriously the best around. If you are looking for a place to go for a few drinks and a lunch or dinner this is your best bet in da Burg.

They have 3 sections- smoking (which can get really smokey as the night goes on), non-smoking (where the band usually is) and the back deck (which has a bar, tables and an area to play bags). I can't say I've been crazy about the bands I've heard there but it's always a pretty good time. There is usually an "older crowd" here, if you are looking for the college crowd and early 20's head to Bunkers or Finn's.

This is my choice of bar in my area, as it's within walking distance form my house. They always have live music here. I am not a fan of paying cover charges to get into bars, so I tend not to go check out the music.
I will say, that they have amazing cheese fries and potato soup. I feel like I'm a cheese fry connoisseur, and they certainly have great ones.
    I will be back.

Spanky's is oddly located in a strip mall. We almost couldn't find the place because it was solely labeled "Shenanigans". After receiving a recommendation for an item not on their menu from two patrons, I decided to try their grilled shrimp. You can order it by the pound. I also got some fried pickles and the bf got the oversized rasta chicken sandwich and fries.

The shrimp was awesome. A hint of heat and char add a ton of flavor. Admittedly, I rarely eat shrimp, but I would eat this shrimp again and again. Their fried pickles were salty and mushy - a disappointment compared to the shrimp. As for the chicken sandwich, it was delicious but was more "regular" than "over" in size.

When I learned that this bar had a smoking section, I was hesitant to go.... I've found that smoke-friendly restaurants typically have smoke wafting through the non-smoking side. I was pleased to discover the non-smoking side was truly smoke-free.

As far as pub food -- this place does a pretty good job. We had the fish taco -- which was excellent -- and the fish and chips. The fried fish is more batter than fish, so I wasn't a fan, but I will admit it was tasty.

The prices are reasonable. And the servers all seemed pleasant, with the exception of ours, who was down-right ornery. She might have put a damper on our evening, but everyone is so friendly that we easily overlooked it.

As others have noted, this is a strip-mall bar and for what it is, I was pleasantly surprised. An Irish bar, however, it is not. I like a brogue with my beer  -- which you won't find here. If you do, too, you don't have to go far --O'Sullivans and Ned Devine's -- both in Herndon -- have Irish servers.

We tested this place out on St. Paddy's day -- the true test of an Irish bar -- and it wasn't terribly busy. They still commanded a $10/per person cover for the band.... which didn't play anything remotely Irish. Boo!

For a local, sports bar... this place is as good as any. For a wee-bit of the Irish, go elsewhere....

    The Breakdown:
    Food: 3
    Prices: 3
    Cleanliness: 3
    Service: 3
    Ambiance: 3

An ok place with a stupid name. We tried Spanky's recently when we saw that Monday night was half price burger night. It's a reasonably good deal for the food ($4.50) which includes french fries, although not very many, so if you are french fry fiend like myself you will want to get a side order also. "Bubbles" was our server, and she was very friendly and efficient (how can you go wrong with a cool name like that?!) and patiently explained all the options for tap beers, etc...I'll be the first to admit I can be a high-maintenance customer, but I've frequently been known to tip 25% so I think it's worth it to have me at your table. = ^ P....The beers were a little on the pricey side, but  a nice glass of wine (recommended by our server) was only $5.00. We have been back a few times, because we do enjoy the atmosphere, which is the closest thing to a dive bar we have found in Leesburg (although it is in a strip mall ~ urgh.) with old wooden booths and very regular working class folks as regulars, which I think is a real plus. A perfectly adequate pub.

Kind of like a college bar, its always a good time.  Even if you don't know anyone, you will in a few minutes!  Relaxed atmosphere, no need to dress up or wear heels (unless you really want to).

Half the bar is smoking and is separated by a wall of windows, which helps when you are there for a meal or want to get away from the music.  There's a back deck open during warmer weather.

... and they have a drunk bus to drive you home if you have too much fun!

Spanky's was the only bar we spotted within a reasonable walking distance from the Best Western.  7 of us walked from the hotel to grab a few drinks.  The place is pretty spacious and has a entire half of the bar that is glassed in for all the cigarette smokers.
It was a Thursday night so the place wasnt too crowded, the lone bartender on the non smoking side did a swell job of checking in on us and taking our drink orders.  Didn't see the menu, maybe next time.

Saw the menu in my hotel and needed something close as I had a ton of work to do yet. No time to explore the area. They have specials every night so I tried the prime rib. Was pretty decent, cooked properly (medium). Came with mashed potato and steamed broccoli. Mashed were very good and the horse radish was extremely fresh. So good solid place to go.

    ***3.5 stars***
Good neighborhood bar.  1/2 price burgers on Monday...quite tasty...potato chowder is good too and loaded with cheese, bacon and scallions on top.   Other menu items looked pretty good coming outta the kitchen...
Okay drink selection...but service was GREAT...our bartender, (Joni sp?) was super friendly and accommodating...in fact everyone who worked there seemed happy to work there...
    Will definitely be back!

Sounds like either a strip bar or an 'adult  store' but oh no my friends, it is much more than that....smoky, full of nascar fans, and has good live music( last night they had a kick ass blues band) this place is a walking stereotype of the south.

So this isn't a bad review. I have to come to Leesburg fairly frequently due to business and they don't have a nightlife. I think this is it. But the smoke that is in the place KILLS me. and the music can get unbearably loud. but the drinks are strong, and the staff is friendly.

We hit this place after trolling the Leesburg Premium Outlets.  My companion was a little leary of suggesting it, given a rather recent bad experience at Ned Devine's in Chantilly (He assumed I just hate Irish pubs?).  But I'm a trooper and here's the review.

The server Hailey was pretty awesome.  Nice is good, but friendly is ideal.  Hailey rocked. I ordered a Shocktop draft because they had it.  I decided to try the onion rings and then a quesedilla (I know, how very  Irish) but they were out of the OR so I tried the...fried pickles.  Yeah, fried pickles.  I was dubious, but I wanted grease.  And quite frankly they are merely that....fried pickles.  Battered and deep-fried chips.  With a pepper-ranch.  Yeah, not my favorite.  But hey, at least it was something different.

The quesedilla was a quesadilla.  'saright.  Nothing special, not bad.  I should have tried the half-priced black-bean burger but it just did not strike my fancy.  I don't know what my friend had....oh yes I do.  He had wings and loved them but left them in my (new) car overnight, totally leeching out the new car smell :-|   Not Spanky's fault though.  I digress.

The atmosphere is very pub-esque.  Rustic and pretty much what I thought from the name.  It's in one of these Suburban strip malls next to a Giant (which is how we found it on my nav.)  I might go back for a beer one day, but most likely only for the poker tournament.

Decent menu - I wouldn't get some of there sandwiches again. But, they have live music on weekends and surpassingly good steak.

Good place to go when everything is closed.
