Not sure why this place has such bad reviews. I booked a table for my birthday last year at a fairly reasonable price compared to other venues in Boston. It is close to the South Station T stop and has no cover. Though the dance floor is small, you can hang out on the rooftop by the "pool" (more like a pond) or behind the bar in the loung-ey area. This is not your typical too-loud-I-can't-hear-you type of club and attracts a classy, international crowd.

This is the second time in five years I've been to Splash and I was really hoping that things have changed a bit since the last time I was here, but not by much, the same setup, music was good maybe a bit too loud for a lounge, but overall a small place where bouncers couldn't control a small group of idiots that thought it is appropriate to dance on the sofas waiving the glasses around. Bouncers were nowhere to be found and to take control of the situation. Bartenders would move fast for a Saturday night. It was a great night but we didn't last long, it will be another five years before we go there again.

This place is a club? Its like an appartment with a projector on the wall. It was obvioulsy built without the intention of this being a club. And the smoking area is a SMOKE_BOX, I could barely breath so if you dont smoke forget about being able to be near your friends while they do.

Plus when we arrived there was no line out front, but they made us wait in it since we arent locals(who they just let in)

On top of that they made the ladies and guys pay 20$. No wonder there where so many guys in this place.

I could go on and on about this place but it was not inviting at all.

Would I return? No way, id rather walk the streets of Boston and look at the buildings.

I was dissapointed, i really do wish it was more fun.

I live very close to Splash, so I really wished that I could like it. I do still go there from time to time if some friends are getting together there, but I really wouldn't go there on my own choosing. The crowd is horrible, bartenders and managers horrible.

Last night I went for a friend's birthday, was buying said friend a birthday drink of vodka-redbull, and bartender "accidentally" spilled the entire drink on me. My whole dress, bag, and even contents of my bag, including my phone, were soaked. The bartender didn't charge me for the drink, that was really not that much of a comfort, and I told the manager about it and all he said was "oh, sorry". Seriously, what kind of attitude is that?

I really think the only reason why Splash is still around is because there's no cover. I for sure would have stopped going there a long time ago if I had to pay even 5 bucks to get in.

Ugh, terrible. Waited FOREVER and we were at the front of the line.

Horrible music, shitty crowd.

NEVER AGAIN.

Bring back NEWS! It was so much better. Splash is a downgrade. I came here on a Saturday night with friends for a birthday celebration.

One of the things that attracted us to the spot was that it had a roof deck. So, you can imagine our surprise when we tried to head upstairs and an employee blocked the entrance. He told us the deck was closed for a private party. What a disappointment.

So we had to stay on the main level and suffer through 2 hours of dance/techno type music. It was horrible. I asked the DJ if he took requests. His response? "Not really". I asked him if he would be playing dance music all night. His response? "Yes." Yikes! Not good. I'm sorry but I don't like any type of music that has the same exact beat for every song.

The crowd wasn't my cup of tea either. Needless to say, we left... swiftly, and headed over to the North End where the fun of our night REALLY began.

I wouldn't come here again.

This place is one of the only two lounge/clubs where you can dance and NOT pay a cover. You read right.. there is none. That was our motivation to go.

It's also near Chinatown and it was cold that night.. we didn't want to walk any further.

This place is a two floor spot. The second floor is a patio which has a small wading pool (not for swimming.. just for show.. and about 4 inches deep). It's cold up here if it's not warm outside. The first floor has the dance floor and a lounge area. I wasn't pleased with the music to be honest. A lot of techno.. and a lot of ice on the ground. I guess that depends on the crowd.

The crowd is more young college then young professionals...

Not my first choice.. but it is free cover. Drinks are pricey.. same as everywhere else in Boston.

I was here for the second time for my friend's birthday a weekend ago. We had a table reserved for the group, which came with a bar service (just means that waitress comes over to your table and mixes your drinks with either cranberry juice or orange juice) and a bottle of Grey Goose. The atmosphere was trendy but crowded. The tables were litereally arranged on the dance floor, leaving almost no room to dance. High risk for tripping over. It was kind of weird that the waitress took away the bottle after each serving. (we had about 8 people in our group and each of us got 3~4 drinks)

The bathroom had only 2 stalls and there were people lining up outside all the time.

The music was trendy. 99% house music with about less than 1% of hip hop. I got sort of bored after 2 hours of house music, but I was with my friends so it was still pretty entertaining. Mind you, this place can get quite crowded. At some point, random people started putting there glasses on our table and even sitting on our couch. The drinks spilled everywhere.

I would say that the crowd was more mature the last time I went. Not much college students or young crowds. This could be a good thing, or a bad thing depending on your own atmosphere preference.

For general admission, I believe that there is no cover charge. I would go back to this place if I really had to, but not by choice.

I'm confused by the mixed reviews. I go to splash all the time - I guess you could call me a regular. I can comment on the dining experience as well as the night club experience; both are excellent.

To start with the dining experience, Frank Depasquale knows how to choose his chefs. The food is great, it is served late, and is not too expensive. The steak tips melt in your mouth and they will serve you right on the dance floor if that is what you desire - great service.

The night club (day club on Saturday) experience is intimate and accommodating. Splash attracts a beautiful, well dressed crowd and has the staff to complement them. The waitresses are gorgeous, fun, and interact well with the patrons. The music is also trendy. As most of the other reviews point out, the roofdeck 'pool' is more of a novelty but still adds to the ambiance of the unique outdoor bar.

Overall, Splash is a great place to go balls to the wall or to relax over a nice glass of wine. I will be back. Probably tomorrow...

Do not go to Splash on a Saturday night if you have any other alternatives at all.
It's free to get into, but the music is loud, and the crowd sketchy. I think we stayed a max. of 5 minutes, and 5 minutes has never seemed so long.

The only plus point is it will make wherever u choose to go to next (we chose the bar at Liberty) seem amazing....

Decided to hold a professional holiday networking event their venue on a Friday evening and as it turns out their booking staff is incompetent. We had booked their "Marble" room with more than enough time and even called to confirm we had the time/date slotted.

When the date came up, they double booked it and gave priority to another group when we likely booked it first. I would highly suggest don't trust them in booking an event because they don't stick with their promise.

Came here with a Rue La La voucher, otherwise, this probably wouldn't be the first place I'd think to go to for dinner. As I've found happens quite often, the roof deck looked more impressive in the pictures online. I wouldn't say the view is great, as it's in kind of a strange area, but it is much better in comparison to some of the other rooftop bars in Boston.

Food: The voucher was good for two items off the menu, and we were happy to find out that the Kobe burger was included in the deal, so we got one of those and the buffalo wings. The wings were good -- tender and juicy and just the right amount of hotness, and the dressing they came with was really creamy and yummy (which the menu described as sour cream...not so sure about that one). The Kobe burger was a huge disappointment, so I'm pretty happy we had the voucher -- I would have been pissed if I paid $19 for it. It was just too overdone, no pink to be found anywhere. For a place that includes the word "burger" in its name, you would think they'd know how to cook one!

Drinks: This was my favorite part of the meal. I had an Italian Stallion Martini and a High Roller Martini. Points for being really strong, but again, I probably wouldn't have been as satisfied paying the full price ($12-$14) for them.

I've never been here just to go out, so I'm sure I'd have a completely different experience if that's what I came for (it gets "INSANE" downstairs on weekends, according to our waitress). But I definitely wouldn't choose to come here for food out of all the options in the area.

Why so much hate for Splash? I think people come in with the expectation that they are going to have this awesome rooftop pool when in fact it is more of a puddle. Furthermore, you aren't even allowed to dip your feet in it. However, the rooftop actually has an open air view so you have the option of staring at something other than a brick wall.

Best night here is Wednesday when they have multiple DJs spinning the shit out of some turn tables. I will personally be posted right in front of the speakers or on top of a couch fist pumping or convulsing my body in some off manner until I am on the brink of shoulder injury. If you choose to go any other night of the week you may be looking at a somewhat dead place unless of course there is a special event. I have never found Fridays or Saturdays to be too crowded here.

Overall pretty solid. Just like with all of Frank Depasquale's places, the food is excellent. I was lucky enough to win an after work party through Boston Event Guide where we were given a whole slew of appetizers. While the connect between B.E.G. and the management wasn't all that good, once the food made it out everyone was extremely content with the buffalo wings, pizza, steak tips, mozzarella sticks, and more that was served to the 25 people I had with me. It was a beautiful night and essentially we had the roof to ourselves.

Things took a nasty turn when the systems crashed and nobody could buy drinks with those tiny plastic cards that don't count as real money. But it is hard to really blame the establishment for this. Gotta understand that things like this happen. This definitely put a damper on the evening but overall it made for a nice pregame before the trek over to Royale.

Also note that a lot of the bartenders and waitresses are pretty smokin' hott and actually nice to the people buying drinks. The two usually don't go hand in hand.

I came in for a Friday after work party hosted by the Boston Event Guide. We had a blast, well I did anyways!

It was definitely clearing 100 degrees outside as one of my closest gal pals finally trekked up to the doors of Splash, opening it from complete brightness outside to pretty much complete darkness. It definitely took a moment to adjust to the lighting difference, but the cool air was a nice welcoming.

I mentioned my name and a pretty girl brought us upstairs to the roof top area where there was a spot designated for me and my guests. We sat and our waitress brought us drink menus. I got the Tangy one (I forget the full name) and the Fruit of the Loom. The Fruit of the Loom was better! And then stuck with Coronas for the remainder of the evening, classy I know. The drinks menu was expensive but to be expected at a Boston club, beer price was average. The mixed drinks were $12, but very good and I want to say that bottled beer was $6? Not 100% on that one.

As my friends trickled upstairs to the area I had, we sort of questioned their buffet and asked the waitress. She mentioned it was back downstairs and we were welcome to it. The buffet was complimentary with the party, so we had to ask of course! Our waitress even offered to head downstairs for us and bring us up some items from it. Score!

So, we sat up there, enjoyed the shade in the heat; it wasn't too bad at all. We were sort of in a corner with not much of a view except for some other tables and their little 'splash' pool they had which was maybe 6 inches deep. No one was in it, I don't think people go in it though, that might be weird.

Oh, more about the food; so we were sitting there and then the buffet really started! A guy was bringing us plates upon plates of just amazing things to eat, holy moly. So there was two fish appetizers; tuna and sea bass (which was amazing), pork (eh), a caprese dish, steak tips (my favorite), then there was the buffalo chicken wings beforehand with the jalapeno poppers and mozzarella and mini meatballs. All of it was pretty much really good, and I would love to go back and get more steak tips.

The overall atmosphere outside was alright. Not much to look at, the SE expressway and some buildings but it was simple and along with the company of friends and some people watching, I didn't mind the lack of actual view. The brick for the building was nice, I like exposed brick inside places so outside was nice. There were just a bunch of tents set up along the wall and then the 'splash' pool in the middle with the bar along one corner with a TV that had on NESN once the Sox started. There was another tent in the other corner.

The bathroom, waaaay too small to be a ladies restroom and their toilets are weird. Really weird. I could see that this bathroom would cause major issues on a busy night. They have like water sprayers and heating on that thing it was like a space ship and I was honestly afraid to go near it never mind hover to pee. Yeah, lady like but hey ladies, that's something to be aware of when you have to go.

When we came back down to exit, there were some people at the bar and scattered among the tables. There were also people in the other room area they had off to the right of the stairs where the DJ seemed to be. It looked cool, from what I recall; decent music. I like that house/top 40 kind of stuff, so pretty much anywhere has good tunes to me.

Outside, there was a pack of guys; they looked like a European soccer team, I'll take it. Too bad we were leaving! I'm going to have to go back at some point for the nightlife aspect but the food was definitely review worthy and I did enjoy myself there with the company of some girlfriends I'd say we had a nice time.

102 degrees outside, so my friends and I decided to cool down at Splash! Sounded like a great idea, yet it wasn't so cool.

We won an after work party, which at first was a little confusing with the set up, but we made the best of it. The after work party was basically free food and you had to pay for drinks..typical.

We were on the roof, tucked away in a corner..there was a little "splash" pool in the middle with tables and a bar. Kind of neat set-up but not the most room efficient...

The drinks are a little on the pricey side and there is a very small beer selection. The draft beer wasn't working that night either.

There was suppose to be a (free) buffet that we didn't see, so we asked and the waitress offered to go downstairs (where it was) and get some things for us (jalapeno poppers, meatballs, fried ravioli). Then the food came which made up for everything else.

The food consisted of bass on a stick, lamb lollipops, tuna steaks, steak tips marinated in a tasty sauce, shrimp puffs, mozzarella cheese and tomato salad - everything was decorated with pretty garnishes and was delicious.

The bar itself (inside) was ok, had interesting bathrooms (with heated toliets, really? in 100 degree weather..not a fan!) and weird ambiance lighting throughout the bar. Music was great, not too loud and played in and outside.

Watch what your drinking though, your bill racks up pretty fast!

The only reason this place is getting two stars instead of one is because it has a rooftop bar. Other than that, I have no desire to ever come back here.

It's so try-hard it's nearly sickening. The bouncers think they are the hottest coolest shit out there- it's pathetic.

Inside, the music is pretty good I'll admit. The bartenders are pretty efficient and attentive despite it being really busy and crowded. Drinks are standard Boston prices- $10 for mixed drinks.

We tried to go upstairs to the rooftop which is typically no problem but on this night some bouncer with his official little clipboard was standing there and told my friend that she had to "bribe him with money" if we wanted to get up there because her "puppy dog face wouldn't work on him"- even though all she was doing was asking if we could go upstairs, not making any kind of desperate face.

I've been to clubs in NYC, London, Barcelona-- that are a milliion times better with half the attitude problem. So seriously Splash, you're not that cool.

The space is pretty interesting with a decent amount of seating. They are going for some exclusive look, but are quite deficient.

That being said, they have the best door team I have seen. They are all well dressed in suits instead of bouncer gear and they are not pretentious. There's the star.

They did have variety. The crowd is a hodgepodge of randomness. It was everything from Jersey Shore to urban professional.

There was really no atmosphere at all, modern contemporary furniture and they typical purple lighting.

The first DJ on Friday nights was rude. Before I could even get to him to make a request, he put his hand around his throat and said "no requests." Some people have no social skills (in addition to a lack of DJing skills).

My glass of watered down juice (no alcohol) was five dollars.

This was my second time here. I won't be going back. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice . . .

If I can give a negative star i would!

Since there is a lack of good nightlife in Boston I really wanted to like this place when it first opened.

My dislikes:
1. Rude staff- the waitress snapped at me when I asked where the restroom was and gave attitude whenever she came by the table-I'm sorry you're at work?
2.Check your receipts-Every time I came and paid with my credit card there has been added gratuity. I always tip 20% so when I saw the bartender gave himself a 100% I was furious. I called the lounge several times trying to speak with the manager, but every time I got the machine with unreturned messages. Thank good my credit card company took care of it.

Overall:
Avoid this place and if you MUST go bring cash!

I had business in Boston this week, and decided to head up early for my buddy's birthday. His invitation claimed that he had a private room at Splash, but my first reaction (and apparently that of most of my other friends) was "what the hell is Splash?" I had gone to college in Boston for 4 years, and interned my Junior year only 3 blocks from the supposed location, so why had I never heard of this place before? I was about to find out.

Getting in was no problem, even at 11:30 (which is like 12:30 for Manhattan), but inside was just a horror scene. Our private room, which was far too small for the 40+ people that rolled through, was on the opposite side of the most packed and unruly dance floor o' Guido's I have ever seen. Everyone looked like a cast member of the Jersey Shore, and did not appreciate my preppiness, apparently.

Outside, I met a disgusting pair of UMass Boston girls, who (despite the fact that I had just identified the Trinidadian across the room as my best friend) saw fit to tell me hundreds of times in a row how much they hate "BP", which apparently for stupid bitches, stops meaning "British Petroleum" and starts meaning "Black People". Even if I was a racist, even if my best friend wasn't as black as Tae Diggs, how the hell could these girls even imagine they weren't going to catch some backlash for talking like that in public? I called them some very crass but appropriate names, and went back to the private room.

The waitress took over and hour to bring me back my card. I had to bug her, her coworkers, and her boss, none of which I enjoy, just to get it back so I could leave. Finally she brought it, and I tipped less than I normally do, out of drunken anger and frustration. The waitress immediately opens the checks we wrote (four of us did this, she was so awful), and accosts all of us about giving her more money. On top of the 70 dollars I paid for 4 drinks.

Seriously, don't go here. If you are the type of person that can read a (brief) 5 paragraph review all the way to the end, you are also the type that will HATE Splash.

Every time I come here (whether it's News or Splash), I wonder 2 things: 1) Why is it so dimly light??? and 2) Why is it so loud???

Yes, I am officially old.

On to the matter at hand:
Apparently when my friends sat, there were dirty wine glasses at the already-set table. This was not by accident. The waitress informed them that they are just for show, or in case people order a bottle. Yet, they were dirty. And plastic...

I did get a glass of wine - a Riesling - which was crisp and sweet, but wasn't a super generous pour... I could have used a bit more for $10...

Food was really great. Caesar salad was a good size, dressing was tasty, croutons had a nice crunch but were not too hard and could be speared with a fork.

Steak tips & fries were DELICIOUS. Steak was perfectly tender and moist. Fries were crunchy but soft inside with great flavoring. I would definitely eat this meal again!

Dessert was a slice of cheesecake with a huge mound of real whip cream (yum!) and different sauces (raspberry maybe for 1?). I have to admit: I cleared that plate so fast, I didn't even know what happened!

As for the service... We've had issues here before with service and this time was no different. The waitress was very pretty and super nice, but did not seem to know what she was doing. My friend ordered a Cabernet Sauvignon and ended up with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. For those who don't know, Cabernet Sauvignon = red; Sauvignon Blanc = white (that's the simple difference). When I ordered my Riesling, she said "what was that?" She did get my order right though. She also did not seem to grasp quite what we wanted when I ordered a round of waters for the table. But ultimately, we got it.

Everyone's food was correct and she did split the bill into 5 for us, which we appreciated, but we all just felt the service was subpar and could have been a lot better.

The food and the free, 3-course Girls' Night dinner on Wednesdays are what save this place from a 1- or 2-star review...

Tough location but really nice rooftop setup. If not for the rooftop this place would be just another euro-trash bar with high priced drinks.

I had an event here and the management were far from helpful. We were looking at 100+ people to come in and they seemed to care less. We had one manager say move things here then the other come and tell us to move it and seemed to care less about what the other one told us. The event went well thanks to the waitstaff who were great!!! If I had known the drink prices were so high I would not have done the event there. $10 for a mixed drink and $6 for a beer is high for that venue.

Overall disappointing. If you want A drink and it is a nice day then the roof deck it great.

Splash was nice, but the drinks were expensive and had no alcohol. Tip to anyone who is going to go there in the future -- If you are a female, DO NOT order from a female bartender. They are rude and purposely make your drink watered down.

Also -- the bathroom with only 2 stalls.. no bueno.

Wow wow wow! I'm not sure what some of the negative reviews here are talking about--I had a spectacular time at Splash!

My friend and I came for their Wednesday Girls' Night Out special. Purchase a drink and get a 3-course dinner...for FREE! Sound like an amazing deal? It is.

Yeah, the drinks were a pricey $13 but my Hendrick's Blossom was pretty good. My friend wasn't a huge fan of her Greygoose grapefruit vodka cocktail, and I didn't like it much either, so avoid that if you want something with a more fruity, sweet taste.

But the food! I was prepared for it to be sub-par and small-portioned....but....it.....wasn't. On both counts.

Starter was a salad of field greens perfectly dressed and topped with dried cranberries and nuts.

Entree (from a choice of 3) was the salmon for both of us. Maybe it's because this dish has some of my favorite foods in it--I wolfed it down. Big, juicy chunks of salmon over a bed of linguine (my favorite pasta) with a light tomato sauce filled with onions and herbs. So absolutely delicious! And when the waitress/bartender came to clear our plates, and I asked my friend if I could finish the last of hers, she said she could just order me another one. I looked at her surprised--I was certain the 3-course thing was set. Nope. "Why not?" said the waitress, "It's free".

So I ordered another one (I was starving and have a pretty bottomless stomach for my favorite foods when I'm hungry). I guess they ran out of the salmon by the time the order went through, so instead I got the mushroom ravioli. Which my friend and I promptly devoured. Dessert was a slice of NY cheesecake with whipped cream and chocolate and raspberry sauce. Lovely.

Even more lovely: Our final bill, which was a measly $26 for the two of us.

The staff (both male and female) are all impossibly beautiful 20-somethings, but more importantly, they are so friendly. From the moment we walked in to the time we left, everyone was incredibly nice and attentive. Top marks for service.

The roof deck is smaller than the pictures make it look, but quite lovely with cabanas on the side, a bar, and plenty of (bar) tables, with a small pool/fountain running down the middle. The view isn't too spectacular as you're in South Station territory, but the sunset was quite lovely to watch.

Are you an arrogant douche?
Are you bored and wondering what you should do tonight?
Would you like to meet a hot mess who puts on her make-up with a plastering trowel?
Feel like spending $15 for a drink?
Want to listen to mind-numbing 'techno' music?

Writing an update after a successful Ladies Night...

Word to the wise: Boston Event Guide plans the Ladies' Night and Rush Hour events, so be sure to check online before you just show up. Our original Ladies Night got derailed because the CLUB booked a private event. Just saying...

Now about LN itself... Yes it's true! You get a free three course meal just for making a reservation. The meal consists of (note: this may change week-to-week):

APPETIZER (1 option): Cesar salad - small and tasty

ENTREE (3 options): Ravioli - tiny portion; not enough to constitute an entree. Tilapia with Corn Salsa and Rice - everything was good except for the small, totally overcooked tilapia; but flavor was good all around. Pork Loin with Mashed Potatoes - I think next time I'll go with this; lady friend Vanessa said they tasted like real, aka from the ground and not a box, mashed potatoes.

DESSERT (1 option): Cheesecake with Graham Cracker Crust and Chocolate Drizzle - my favorite part by far.

I'll reiterate that cocktails are expensive. But the beer is about $5 a pop. So for all that food and 3 beers, I paid $18. NOT BAD. We ate dinner in the lounge area around a big fancy table. And then took our drinks to the patio. On a warm summer night, you have to make it to the roof deck. It'll probably be packed, but do like you always do: put on your eagle eye and look for people paying their bill. Turnover was good enough for us to get our own cabana.

Next time I want to grab some drinks with my ladies on a Wednesday night, Splash will be on my quick list.

Thoroughly mediocre lounge. The decor is a typical, run-of-the-mill "I'm a trendy restaurant and therefore I can charge $13 for crappy drinks" decor. I was excited to go to Splash because of the infamous roof deck... although no one informed me that there wasn't much of a view as the building is 2 stories high.... downtown. Yes sir, the side of that building does look very pretty....the contrast between the brick and cement is so aesthetically pleasing!

Also, they had the nerve to charge $13 for "sangria." Now, I am one to expect to be charged ridiculous amount for drinks in places like this but normally the drinks are at least well crafted. Their $13 "sangria" consisted of cheap wine, juice and vodka. Wait... I'm sorry... vodka? What sangria recipe did they look at? Vodka does not belong in sangria and traditional recipes do not include juice.

Splash is unspectacular in every way imaginable. Meh.

HORRIBLE, RUDE SERVICE FROM 1980'S LOOKING HOOKER, HOOCHY MAMA WAITSTAFF. Weak cocktails made with little thought or quality ingredients for a premium price. Incompetent, arrogant management. Roof deck aesthetics could be better; the wading pool looks like an afterthought and furniture is even IKEA knockoff worthy.

And the award-winner goes to the ever so trashy "Jersey Shore" X3 clientele.

Never, EVER again.

I went for Ladies' Night this past Wednesday. The drinks were definitely overpriced and too sweet ( I had a mojito - it was weak). The food was mediocre and very limited. The downstairs area was loud and dark - I could barely hear the people not sitting next to me. I took a peek upstairs and the roof deck looked beautiful - nice furniture, private spaces, little fountain/pool to put your feet in.

I can't believe, though, that nobody mentioned the BIDETS!! The most unique thing about this lounge is in the women's bathroom!! There are electronic attachments to the toilets that will spray water (up into you?) at the touch of a button!!

It kills me to give this place 2 stars. The spot is swanky and I love it. Low leather seating down stairs. Cabanas and "pool side" seating on the roof deck. But the rest of this place sucks.

They promote this event with free buffet. Sounds great right? Ya well there was never any food. After 2 rounds and one hour into it, they stop serving food, it became a french fry and mozzarella stick Smorgasbord.

And drinks? Good luck. Tommy boy the bartender was too busy fluffing his hair.

Maybe it was a bad night? I'll try it again and update my review.

STARE into a strobe light for 10 seconds, then immediately splash lemon juice into your eyeballs. ..... that's exactly how I felt when I sat in the little loungy private room near the side for a small function. It was this large insane asylum of a room.... complete with white walls, a sunroof you could never reach to escape, entirely lit by nothing but the TV. My eyes were doing the shimmy for a good hour....

But the rest of the place was ok. I never got to see this roof deck I've heard so much about because despite the awesome weather we've had this week, tonight had an icy wet fog rolling through town, like a cloud of mucus that stuck to every part of my clothing and weighed it down so much I felt like a wet chihuahua the moment I stepped outside.

Inside, it wasn't too bad. Very loungy, but I somehow got the feeling that while the bar was decent, and the entrance was cool, the rest of the seating area felt more like a waiting room than a bar lounge. It almost felt incomplete.

I was there on a thursday from 6pm onwards, and the crowd wasn't too bad. I was expecting a cheesey Jersey shore crowd, but no, it was a nice mix of normal working peeps. No ya-dudes. Maybe too early in the evening?

Waitresses were pretty good. We had a girl named Michelle. Very cute. Sweet. Like creme bulee.

Apparently there's a free buffet dinner on thursdays, which I was half expecting to be as enjoyable as my last visit to the dentist. But no, it was actually pretty good. In fact, for a free food fest, I'd have to say I was pleasantly surprised and give it 4 stars. Fried mozzeralla sticks, fried ravioli, steak tips (the good kind, not the dog food variety), meatballs (yum yum yum), buffalo wings, and prosciutto ham. Went perfectly with one of the smoothest Guiness on tap I've ever had.

I think it's a good effort, and probably an establishment I'd expect in a suburb somewhere. But for Boston proper, I expect more for what I think they're trying to accomplish.

RSVPing online for their Thursday night RUSH HOUR promo (complimentary food buffet every Thursday 5pm - 10pm, http://www.bostoneventgu…) was easy, but I would have felt more confident of my success if they had proactively used the email address they had requested of me to send me a confirmation.

I had to be somewhere by 6:15, so I arrived at 5pm with the plan to just hang out for a quick tasting and to get an idea of the place. The buffet was set up at a little side counter just beyond the bar in the front room. There were three silver hot food holders and several wire racks placed out to the right, but there wasn't any food available till about 5:20 or so.

They started us off with poppers and mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce, and buffalo chicken wings with a blue cheese dressing. The wings were meaty and not too hot for me. The poppers weren't hot at all and were filled with cheese. The mozzarella sticks were crispy and melty. By the way, if you haven't read any of my other reviews, for me not hot (in terms of spiciness, not temperature) is a good thing.

The third hot food holder seemed to remain empty the hour I was there, but plates of prosciutto, ceviche, spinach in phyllo cups, crab in phyllo cups slowly popped up on the metal stands. The chicken wings were refilled, while tasty fried cheese ravioli and chicken tenders took over the spot that the poppers and cheese sticks had vacated. I snuck a steak tip from my friend's plate. Okay, actually, I politely asked for one... it was good! Tasty and tender.

Noise carries in their space, and be careful of the lit single step at the far end of the bar by the coat check. Service was pleasant - drinks delivered promptly, waters refilled. There's a nice looking private room with red seats off to the side. But a neat surprise is in the ladies' room - heated toilet seats! With the option of rinsing off your bottom!? I didn't dare try that, but found it interesting nontheless.

I really wish I came here before midnight. I didn't realize this place was a Burger bar too? I wish I knew that when I came!

Anyways, I dated one of the promoters for this place...and like any normal girl, I wanted to look good in front of him. Unfortunately I wasn't in a completely sober state, and I missed a step...and I fell on my bum...with him standing right there. Embarrassing? Yeah. Lesson? Keep an eye out for that tricky step so that you won't make that same mistake!

Aside from that experience, I enjoyed hanging out with my friends (we had a table) so it was great that we had somewhere to sit. Another perk for this place is the SMOKING ROOM! Instead of going out into erratic Boston weather, they have a room (slightly cooler) dedicated for social smokers like myself, and heavy smokers like some of my friends.

Enough said. I had a fun night, and I'd love to come back.

This place has burgers?? I never would have guessed. Most of the girls in this place look like they could use one though.

Okay, I'll try to be kind in this review, because if I'm honest with myself, a lot of the reason I didn't enjoy my experience at Splash was because it's simply not my scene. $12 drinks, girls wearing nothing, and guys twice my age rubbing up against me in a room so crowded I barely recognized the place from the pictures posted here.

We didn't have to wait to get in, which was nice, but the bouncer was a total asshole. There's just no reason to be so rude. And that pretentious attitude continued inside. There wasn't a cover on this particular night (went on a Saturday), but the drinks were expensive enough to make up for it. Every person working at this establishment had their nose stuck up in the air, really, the service was awful. Plus there was no place to sit, or even stand, and although the music was okay, it was WAY too loud. I couldn't hear a thing anyone said to me. My friends and I downed our drinks and got out of there pretty quickly.

But I hear some people like this stuff, so 3 stars if you enjoy sweating the night away packed like a sardine while sipping over-priced drinks next to guys wearing too much cologne and girls wearing nothing at all. Otherwise, don't waste your time.

I came here for a birthday party for 3 people, one being a girlfriend of mine....

Location is kind of out of the way, near Chinatown. Nice atmosphere inside though, lots of water flowing through clear walls, lots of blue glowing floors and walls. Women's bathroom is tiny but they have self warming toilet seats and two ended bidet.....eek! Towards the middle of the night, bathroom was a disaster! Multiple broken glasses and beer bottles all over the floor, empty drinks covering the sink, etc. Does anyone check on the bathroom? i was wearing skimpy shoes and could have easily sliced my foot open if I wasn't paying attention.

It was super crowded on the first floor, but we had a VIP room upstairs which was nice and roomy! What I didn't appreciate was the lack of separation from public to private. We were having a private party and random people kept coming up. No signs posted, no nothing. It would have been good to have a sign put up. We ended up having a persistent bouncer bring up wristbands and harassing our group to see them the whole time.

Music was good, drinks are REALLY expensive. No cover for us this night, but the drink prices made up for that part!

The ONLY reason I went to Splash is because I live in the neighborhood. This is the polar opposite of my kind of scene, but hey, I gotta support the local establishments.

I agreed to check it out on one caveat - during the week, and early.

I went to the News a few times, so I thought I knew the space well. Um nope. They did an incredible job with Splash! It's so much bigger than the News was.

The downstairs, for the most part, is the same layout. However, if you didn't know there were other rooms to check out, you might be disappointed. Getting there mid-week and having a personal tour of the entire place will show you there is a lot that Splash has to offer. Obviously, the roofdeck makes a huge improvement. And I'm a little confused about all the Vegas references. This was much more 'Miami' to me than Vegas. The cabana-style seating, the outdoor pool for decoration, it was pure Miami.

Then there are the pool rooms, which you don't need to have a special reservation for. For a place like this, that surprised me. But I think my absolute favorite part is the smoking room and I'm not even a smoker. Now, get some hookahs and some sheesha in there, and I'll be all over it.

So that's the space: A+++

The drinks are fairly priced. Just like any other 'lounge' or 'club' - I was expecting to pay a lot more than $5 a beer, $10 a glass of wine and $12 a drink, but I'll take the reasonable prices.

And I think the menu is pretty decent, and the food was good. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip, and some sliders which came with fries. I'd come back to chill and eat again.

I will not, however, come back when it's a popular hour. I just cannot deal with the crowd; not my style at all. I'm glad they're open for people like me that like the early-bird-lounge-special :)

All I hear from reviews about this place is how long the line is! why wont they let me in!..blah blah blah...stop hating...my advice!

1.Give Winters a call he will hook you up! No door fees, no line no nothing 617-921-7799...tell him Ran sent you. call ahead of time because this is a small place and it gets packed

2. Tip your door man they will remember you next time

3. Stop bitching...Ball out This is a great place! No Ed Hardy shirts here!!! thank god... only the grown and sexy

I had my birthday party here last night. The line was long when i got here around 11 pm. Had my car valet $20. We got the vip room which required you to get at least 3 bottles which was fine... $315 per bottle. I ended up getting 4 bottles which came to $1500 with tip. Winters hooked up another BOTTLE FOR FREE!!! All in all i rolled with about 30 people they got us in the VIP door by the side of the club...NO QUESTIONS ASKED. I had a great time DJ Dirty Dek on the tables Beautiful Women everywhere...This place is what boston has been missing!

So, this is probably not a completely fair review since I didn't actually eat at this restaurant, but I thought I would share my experience with them. Last Sunday, I made a reservation for a party of 6 for Wednesday (tonight). The woman took my reservation and even said, "We'll see you on Wednesday!" I was excited to try out this new restaurant.

The dinner meet-up was for a high school reunion planning committee. I was running late, so I decided to take a cab instead of the train from the BU area that cost me about $20. When I arrived tonight, I learned the whole restaurant was closed for a special private event. I asked to see the manager. I told him my dilemma about someone taking down my reservation earlier that week and at the time, it wasn't a problem. I even said that he could check the reservation log and see that there is a reservation there. The fact is that I wasn't contacted to let me know that the restaurant was closed that evening. I wouldn't have had to worry about being late, and I would've saved myself $20 tonight. The other problem was that the manager didn't even apologize. He said to me, "I can get you into Umbria tonight." I told him, "No thanks! I'm good! Bye!"

I will not visit this restaurant again. Some may think I'm overreacting, but first impressions of a restaurant is important to me.

Even if Darryl Hanna owned this bar I wouldn't like it. It is against every fiber of my being. Girls in prom dresses from windsor or Forever 21, dancing the night-awaYYY
playing russian roullette with chlamydia

Just KILLME instead next time.

I think I would've liked it here if I was say, 17 and borrowing someone's older sister's, roomate's pumps (which I did in like 1997, but we went to the roxy instead).

Location: This is a particularly hard spot to make work. There's not a ton of parking and it's off the beaten path. People will only make the effort to come here if the place is really, really great.

Decor/Design: For a place that claims to be "a Vegas inspired, water-themed venue," the design theme completely missed the mark. Vegas clubs are sleek, sexy, dark, dramatically designed and in general, over-the-top. This place was NOT. It had white walls, no dramatic lighting, white and tan striped couches, no art or wall fixtures. Supposedly "water-themed" with a "hip, modern feel similar to Vegas, L.A. and Miami," there was nothing that even metaphorically resembled water indoors. In fact, it's carpeted. That's going to look great once it gets a little vomit on it. Even the logo is just blue cursive. Nothing Vegas or memorable about it.

The outdoor patio, while beautiful, is not particularly functional. It does not appear to be heated in any way. This is Boston, that won't fly for 7 or 8 months of the year. The seating on the patio features beach chairs covered in terrycloth-like fabric, canopied verandas and bigger mattress-sized couches. There is a small wading pool in the middle of the patio that I saw two waitresses almost fall into. Be careful up there when it's crowded.

Launch: When you are going to launch, you want to pull out all the stops right? So shouldn't there have been toilet paper in the ladies? My friend ordered a pear margarita that was not-drinkable. Not launch acceptable. At all. The swag bag brochure wasn't even printed in color. If you aren't ready to make a 'Splash', put off the launch!

All I'm saying is i see a lot of Ed-Hardied guidos here in the near future. I'll pass.
