I'm in Lesbians with Spyners Pub.
My first time was about a year or so ago. Â Walking home from a Cubs game it was hot as fucking Hades outside. Â A nice, sweltering 95 degrees if I remember that night correctly. Â For whatever reason I could not get a cab at all. Â Rotten cabbies. Â So I walked from Wrigley to Western and then North up the street. Â It's about 10ish pm, I'm tired from walking and thought a cold one would really boost my spirits. Â (See, there were cabs which stopped but they'd look at me and then pull off. Â Racist pricks. Â This happened four times on my walk) Â So.. I'm walking up to this bar and in front I see a group of attractive women sharing a smoke. Â I hadn't any prior knowledge it was a lesbian bar. Â In that moment, I'm tired, see lovely women (whose perfume I could smell a block away) in front of a dive, feel a cool breeze from inside and hear the sounds of karaoke sung. Â I was walking in.
Inside, it's a dumpy dive. Â There were decent beers on special and the bartender took care of me pretty quickly. Â I gotta say, I had more conversations with lesbians in one night, than I've had with hetero women at general bars. Â Who said lesbians are angry at men ? Â What else; I hooked up a shy gal with a cute bartender, complimented a plethora of nice lipstick lesbians and had more than a few conversations about sports, food and beers. Â It was good people watching too. Â About $14 dollars spent on beers and tips and I was on my way back home. Â Probably because of the good karma picked up from hooking up some lesbians, I met a cutie patootie on my final stroll home. Â The end.
I love this place. So..SO much. Friendly bartender, well priced drinks, popcorn and for the most part a friendly crowd.
I come here with my friend every once in a while. We normally get there earlier enough that the bartender will give us a $5 bill and tell us "put on whatever you want". That's a lot of pressure..but we normally select good stuff.
We shut this place down one time. I barely remember it, but it was worth it!
Went to Spyner's for some end of the night karaoke, on a wild suggestion from a friend. I have never had a better karaoke experience! Everyone gets into it, and you leave feeling like the best singer in the world. The people are so nice, the beer is great and I sang my heart out. Totally going back as soon as I can!
