The Square

The Square is one of the best new additions to the North Fork area. While my favorite of the four eating spots is "Prep" (for its flat-bread pizza), they also have "Main" for restaurant dining, "Nosh" for sandwiches and "Meet" (coming soon) for tasting wine, beer & charcuterie.

Not to mention champagne gelatos?!? Sweet lord.

I came here after a day of wine tasting at various vineyards and it was the perfect way to end the night with dinner & drinks outdoors. Great scene and good-looking people.

I went to Main expecting a high quality restaurant and thought taking up the entire square was a great idea. However the restaurant itself was absolutely horrible. The service was awful and I could hear people screaming at each other in the kitchen. Very unprofessional. It is obvious that they are just getting started and have no clear set up and have no idea how to handle routine issues. The staff was under-trained and some of them were down right rude. Including the manager, I believe her name was Katherine or something. I ordered a simple drink while I was waiting for my order and the bartender and her ignored me for over 15 minutes and then she spent another 5-8 minutes teaching the girl how to make my drink in front of me. It was really stupid and senseless. Don't teach your staff on my time for the prices you charge, teach them on a separate schedule. I'm not a guinea pig.

I thought their choices on their menu were all copies of things that have been done before, expensive and generally not very tasty. It's obvious that Keith Luce while he has made a name for himself is not very organized or creative. Either that or the people behind the scenes are doing a horrible job.

Then...to top it all off, we ordered oysters (a table of 5) and I had one oyster and it tasted disgusting. So I only ate one. I thought I was just being silly. Then my date ate some and told me that they were rotten. Thank goodness he knew what he was talking about otherwise my entire family would have been sick. I was sick for the next two days with diarhea and stomach aches and so was he. On top of that, right in front of us they said that they had another plate of oysters come back right before us.

Posioning people...bad food...bad service and pretentious jerks running the place. Don't waste your time or money.

At least give them a few years to get into the groove of doing things properly and in order. If they last that long.

We were so excited to spend last Monday on the north fork. We heard of keith luce new restaurant and thought we would try it. For a Monday the place was busy.   we sat outside under the tent, we were immediatly greeted by a sweet bus girl then a pleasant and perky waitress. She recommened the duck wings and tuna , as we were looking over the menu we noticed this beautiful tray of oysters. An  observant manager  noticed our curiosity and came over. She explained the oysters and suggested a crisp muscadet to pair with them.We had asked about the square and she enthusaticaaly explained  luces project. Now we Can't wait until our next trip out to try them all.We had all that was reccomened the beautiful oysters, wine the duck wings and tuna.
