Stopped in for lunch when I informed my lunch companions that I wanted a tasty salad. Once we entered, I immediately liked the atmosphere. It had a great college nostalgia feel to it, and I'm sure it would be a great place to have a beer an burger after work. If you want to eat here for lunch though, I'd suggest not coming at noon unless you want to wait for 10 minutes for a seat. On top of that, it's a seat yourself deal, and two "gentleman" who came in after us cut in front of us and snagged the table for which we were waiting. Thankfully, another had opened up at the same time, so no harm no foul.
After we sat down, we probably waited another 10 minutes simply to get a server at our table. More on the server in a bit...When we finally got the opportunity to order, I chose the soup (lentil) and salad (garden add turkey and cheese with the balsamic-oil dressing) combo. The lentil soup was underwhelming unfortunately. As for the salad, it was served in a metal bowl that must have been bottomless, I swear. I don't even know if I made it through half the salad. I loved the sunflower seeds in the salad but felt the dressing was way too oil-heavy.
As for our server, I first understood her being busy as it was a lunch rush. We came at the end of that rush, however, so half of our visit occurred in a rather dead dining establishment. Despite the lull, our service remained rather disappointing both with respect to speed and attitude. There's not much to say beyond the fact that it was clear the server was annoyed to be serving us.
Overall, this wasn't a bad joint, but I think I'd opt for carryout in the future if I'm hankering for a salad at lunch.
