I'm a fan of Stanleys.  Its a neighborhood joint, but I like places that are kid friendly, but have good food and beer selections.  The broccoli bites are seriously delicious.  Like cheesey tempura broccoli goodness with a bacon ranch dressing.  II always comment that we should have ordered another one.  The food is consistant, the service is decent.  Its a taaad overpriced for what it is which is the only thing that keeps us at bay.  They're always crowded, so I don't think it hurts their business much!

Inattentive waitress, bland food, fuddy-duddy atmosphere. Only highlight was the knowledgeable bartender whom I visited due to absence of our server to ask about a few craft beers. Get your act together, Stanley's.

Really a great time. We have been twice, and both times have been very impressed. Food is great pub grub, prices are good, and my wife loves the salad bar. Service has always been awesome. Never had a complaint in that department, even when they are packed. My only issue would be that both times we have been there I have carefully gone over the beer list, eventually settled on what I wanted...and then they didnt have it. Either the keg had just been tapped or they were out of the bottle...both times, it happened more then once. Maybe I just have great taste. Regardless, they were always able to make alternate suggestions and I have certainly never felt like I had to settle. Prices are good, and I look forward to going on one of the all you can eat rib nights. Great place! Looking forward to going back soon!

Omg went here once before leaving my boyfriends family. It may have been just that I was almost 7 months prego but the food was delicious. I had a burger and fries and kept kicking myself for not getting onion rings. My daughter had chicken tenders which were yummy as well. The hot wings were amazeballz I had my boyfriends mom bring some all the way to RI when she came down the following month. Were not as good as hot and fresh but slightly killed my urge. Anxious to try the ribs next time.

Two stars ONLY for the good salad bar.  Dry rub ribs were VERY salty and skimpy - a small portion compared to what others at our table got.. Fried portabella fries were not crispy and overly salty too.  French fries were not cooked - pale & limp.  Wedding soup tasted like Campbell's soup.  Would have given it zero stars except their salad bar was very good.  This was our second try there and we won't be back.

Wish I only came here to drink, left a bad taste in my mouth and doubt I'll ever return to do anything but.

Came with a few friends, and sat in the bar at a table. Took a few minutes for our server to even aknowlege us. She was rude, and uninterested right away. Everything seemed very rushed. It wasn't late, and the bar wasn't full. (About 2 tables, and 6-7 people at the bar, with 3 bartenders),

I even asked her at some point if she was leaving, or trying to get out of there, and she answered no.

Anyway, we ordered wings as an appetizer which were probably the only positive thing I can write about in this review. Nice and hot, just how I like 'em.
For dinner I ordered a burger with the "Knife & Fork Topping". Dry, Skimpy Toppings (about 2 tiny slivers of roasted red pepper) about a teaspoon of blue cheese..I mean for a $10 burger, I expected more. I'm kinda small, and even after eating this I was still hungry!
Friend ordered Chicken Sandwich w/ Crab Imperial, He couldn't even finish it.

Had to go up to the bar a few times to ask for things..Beer, Water..All while our server was behind the bar texting.

I've been in the industry for 11 years, I know customer service..and I know how it can determine one's experience when dining and this is up there with some of the worst.

I'll only come back for booze.

Taking service down to a Guantanamo level.  Avoid.

Went for dinner on a Saturday evening. Husband was in search of a Kobe burger.  We got there rather early (5:30) and the place was pretty empty, but filled up quickly.

Husband had the kobe burger and steak fries.  I had the Main Line sandwich (kind of a glorified cheese steak made with filet tips, onions and cheese) with sweet potato fries.

Both the burger and the sandwich were excellent.  Service was friendly and efficient. Very satisfying experience.

Used to like the food here, but something has slipped.  Food is bland, or mushy or just plain bad.   Quality of my blackened chicken sandwich was poor.   The side of Mac and cheese had a bad taste.  A little seasoning would've helped or a different cheese.

Every time I hear a review about Stanley's, it's the salad bar; but they better focus on their prepared food a lot more.

I have eaten there with my husband a few times. He like the salad bar but I think it is very expensive and boring. I thought to try it again tonite. I was extremely disappointed. The food is so bland! I had a "chicken stack". There was the smallest chicken breast, a slice of tomato, some pesto and mozzarella with a piece of, I think pepper. Gluey mashed potatoes and broccoli. $3 margaritas with little or no alcohol. He had the salad bar and some wings.
I really want to like the place but I turned in my Stanley's card.
    I won't be going back.

At 11:00pm on a Saturday, I just tried Stanley's for the first time. I've been passing this place literally as long as I can remember, but this was my first time going in. The staff was friendly, the food was spectacular, and the overall experience was just great. The server let me try all the different spreads for the ribs so that I would make sure I liked what I got and was super helpful in picking out what to order. Great experience!

I'd say the only thing good about this place is the salad bar, but than again, who comes to a neighborhood bar and grille for their salad bar? No one! The burgers are weak, the fries are way to thick, and the service was slow.  I'd say giving it one star was me being generous.

My wife and I dine at Stanley's every couple of months.  It's a bit dark inside (no windows to speak of) and many TVs (typical sports bar environment).  The food is OK.  On our most recent visit I had the Stanley's Original grilled.  This is basically a 1/2 lb ham sandwich.  It was good - not spectacular.  We split a side of sweet potato fries.  The fries were not fried enough - too baked potato-like.  Chick-fil-a does these much better.  On many visits I'll have the Wings and Things.  Wings and a variety of mainly fried things that are bad for you - I like it!  In summary, Stanley's is kind of a middle-of-the-road, tavern-food place.  Not bad, but not great.  Certainly good enough to keep coming back every couple of months.

I've always enjoyed their wings, but this might be the only place in the world I will go to just for their salad bar.  Unlimited soup and salad is a great touch.

A direct route to food poisoning.

I should have known better. We recently moved to the area and had take-out from Stanley's. It was gross.

For whatever reason then, we decided to go there for Father's Day lunch. The three of us had different dishes. Within 4 hours, all 3 of us were having violent toilet episodes (both ends, if you get my drift).

Thanks Stanley's! Eat there at your own risk!

I've eaten at Stanley's a few times; it's a favorite of my co-workers, and convenient to go to for lunch or after-work drinks.

Things I've tried and would recommend:

    - The mussels (Rosa style, so tasty)
    - The portabella fries (thick, lightly breaded strips of mushroom served with zesty horseradish sauce)
    - The pizzas (chicken and brie was good, the lejon is better)
    - Hushpuppies (crabcake was good too, but MAN, those hushpuppies!)
    - Chocolate covered banana mixed drink (blended and huge)

The menu is extensive, and it looks like they do some seasonal stuff at the front.  They have both food and drink specials pretty much every day.  Wednesday is half-priced burger and wine bottle night.  Thursday is the mussels special.  This is also the least obnoxious sports bar I've ever visited.   They keep all the aggressive, beer-spilling loudmouths in a seperate area of the establishment, which is nice for non-sports fans like me.

The servers are usually very friendly, although one (Gianni? Johnny?) can err on the side of being over-familiar.  Other than a couple of kooky upcharges (crabcake came with tartar or cocktail, boyfriend wanted both and was charged an extra dollar AND friend ordered mussels and asked for one extra piece of bread to sop up the broth, got charged $3 and was given three pieces instead of the once she asked for), I would say this place is good food at a decent price.  The cumulative rating as of today says 3.5 stars, and that's would I would give too, if able.  But there was this one time that a party of 13 of us descended upon Stanley's for lunch and our waitress never wrote anything down, but remembered every last order down the substitutions and particulars!  I'll round up.

This is my first time eating here. My Fiance told me it was better than her last visit since the menu changed. The food was good, brought quickly and by good staff.

Everything is just a tad higher than other places. I would eat here again but it does cost more to go here. Tavern is the name and that's what the inside looks like.

I've been to Stanley's Tavern a couple times now. This review is from the third time that I went there.

I was a bit disappointed the first time - their ribs have been touted as the best in the area. I got a half rack via takeout taxi, and didn't find them to be anything to write home about. Stanley's has come highly recommended by many friends, and I was beginning to question their taste. I decided to actually go in to the tavern next time instead of ordering through takeout taxi. The restaurant itself is pretty huge. There's a large bar area with some of the original seats from Veterans Stadium, a huge buffet area, and tables tucked in everywhere. Their menu wound up being pretty impressive - kobe beef burgers, steak tips with hollandaise and various other tasty things were listed. I try to avoid buffets, so I didn't really see what they had there.

I wound up with a crab cake sandwich, which wasn't bad. If I had got it at a diner or something, I'd have thought it was great, but here, I didn't think it lived up to the "wow factor" of the menu. That was a couple months ago. Today, I needed lunch. Nothing too fancy, but something a bit better than diner food, or a chain restaurant. I decided to head back to Stanley's. Having been there a couple times now, I set my expectations a half a notch lower, and this time, they hit the mark. One of their specials was a "Steak Pizza". I was a bit nervous. It was a pizza with steak tips, caramelized onions and a cracked pepper hollandaise. I'm a bit picky about my pizzas in that I don't see tomato sauce as something that is "optional". There are very few pizzas that I like that don't involve tomato sauce. I'm also a bit picky about my hollandaise. I wasn't sure how this would all go on a pizza, but I figured I'd give it a chance.

When it came out, the meat distribution was pretty uneven, and the crust didn't look like I usually expect a good pizza crust to look, but after trying it, my fears were proven to be unfounded. Yes, the crust isn't what I'd want a 18in pepperoni pie on - actually, pie is a good word - it was much like a pie crust, but it worked for this. I had only planned on eating a couple pieces, and saving the other half for later, but that plan didn't work out too well. I devoured this pizza. I could eat another one right now.

So, now that I've been to Stanley's a couple times and know what it is, and what it isn't, I've decided that I do really like it. I wouldn't bring a date there for a romantic evening, or go there and expect food like I would get at Krazy Kats, but it beats the pants off of chain restaurants hands down, the staff are friendly, and they do have some pretty decent higher-end items. I'd give them a solid 4 out of 5. Now that Bourbon Street up in Claymont closed down, Stanley's will probably be my new "go to" tavern.

This place has an ENORMOUS menu and lots of good craft beers on tap, which is a relatively recent development.  Margarita was also delish.  But they had Southern Tier Pumking still when a lot of places didn't!  My fav. October beer!

I had the Kobe burger, and it was delicious.  I'm actually craving it right now.  They give you chips w/ it, which kind of annoys me lol.  I feel like fries should be an option with a big juicy burger, and they are an option for extra $$, and not just a buck either.

We split the fried cheesecake for dessert.  HEAVENLY.    One of the best desserts I've ever had.  SO delicious.

Service was great -- seated promptly (place is pretty big), and waitress was friendly.

The first time we went, I had the mac & cheese & we got nachos and onion strings for apps.  Mac & chz was delish, nachos were behemoth and wonderful.  Portions are seriously, huge.  The onion strings were kinda wimpy and not crispy enough.

Overall, love this place for its no frills and good food!!  It's always pretty bumpin too...which should tell you something.

Also the soup/salad bar is a good deal AND they have gummy bears.  Random, but delicious.

Stanley's sets out to be a friendly, neighborhood sports bar and they accomplish just that!  I am not generally a sports bar person, but I just love the sense of community that Stanley's maintains.  This is truly the cheers of North Wilmington, which they know, because they play the Cheers theme song when it is time for fan roulette.  (If they call two of the numbers on your fan club card, you get a goofy little prize.  Wahoo!)

I stick to the basics when I go to Stanley's.  I usually get a burger, sandwich, or wings.  The burgers are quite good AND half price on Mondays!  I also really like their home-made kettle chips, but be warned, you can't eat just 1...or 20.

I usually sit at the bar because that is where you will find the best service, which makes sense because those employees have been there the longest.  The service in the restaurant is fine though, the bar tenders just go above and beyond.  Stanley's also has a reasonably decent beer selection, although I would not mind seeing more craft brews on tap.

Very friendly staff.  No pretenses.  Food comes as ordered with a smile.  Better than average bar food- wings are good, as are the burgers, nachos, and roast beef au jus sandwich.  One of my favorites is a BLT with an egg and cheese thrown in the middle.  Supposedly the best ribs in town, but I beg to differ- they're not housemade (the sauce could possibly be, but the ribs are the babyback kind that come in a Kryo-vac bag like Chili's or Fridays).  Great for late night when you're in the mood to stay close to home and have a beer and some yummies.

I had a Kobe burger and fried cheesecake delivered for dinner tonight. I mention the delivery because I know for some restaurants, their delivered food may or may not match the food in their restaurants.

The Kobe burger was ok. I wanted to try Kobe beef since I had never tried it before. It was a very decent burger, but I could not really tell a huge difference between the Kobe beef and the meat in a good burger elsewhere.

The fried cheesecake was very good. It comes in an almost egg roll like shell. I am curious to see how much better it would have been fresh (fried foods do not fare well when ferried about - hahaha). It comes with an out of this world raspberry sauce. It may be too sweet for some, but it was a good amount (could be a touch more) for me. I like things very sweet.

Also worth mentioning here is their onion rings. My friend was nice enough to give me one of his order. He says it is the best onion ring he has ever had. I would say I would probably concur. The sauce it is served with is also fresh and delicious.

A classic stand by. If I can't decided on where to go, I usually end up here. The food is pretty standard and they offer a wide variety but nothing really special...though I do recommend the Broccoli bites and the Tavern Burger. I would most def take this place over any chain restaurant in the area any day.

A big bar grill place, with a decently varied menu.  They've got some Italian dishes, in addition to your other standard fare.  This place is very kid-friendly, and I was salivating over my daughter's grilled cheese sandwich.  Actually, I remember that more than anything I've ever eaten there.  Probably a burger, which I now recall fondly.  I can also add that my wife was reasonably impressed with the salad bar.  And ESPN is all over the place.  I love a place where about one third of all the patrons are wearing Eagles or Phillies jersies, depending on the season.  A place to feel comfortable.

Finally decided to try Stanley's after numerous drive-bys. We figured how bad could it be if the lot is always full?

    Pretty bad, it turns out.

We weren't expecting much - just halfway decent bar food. How hard could that be?

Stanley's claims to have the "Best Rack in Town" so I thought I would try their ribs. I got the half rack and BBQ chicken breast combo with a dry rub. The ribs were tiny, dry (yes, I know I got the dry rub but the meat should be moist), and the rub extremely salty. The chicken was a grilled dry boneless breast with no seasoning whatsoever. I had to ask for some BBQ sauce since they didn't include any on the side.

Baby got the buffalo burger sans bun. It was supposed to be 6 ounces but it was hard to find under the portobello mushroom - they can't blame this on shrinkage since buffalo is extremely lean (and, yes, it was dry and overcooked). And the carmelized onions on top were actually burnt brown onions.

The only reason I'm giving them one star is because of the $2 Leinenkugel special.

(One very odd thing we noticed. We were seated near Stanley's very '70s style soup and salad bar and heard this strange rattle when they refilled one of the items. Turns out they were replenishing the Jelly Bellys!! They also had gummi bears and some other sweets but this was no dessert or ice cream bar. Bizarro!)

wow i cant believe i havent reviewed stanley's before, considering its always the first place my friends want to go when i meet up with them while in delaware.  yeah its no frills - just a sports bar really.  but its close to where everyone lives, and we have been going there forever so we know some of the staff.  they have a large dining area too, and both a front and back bar (i prefer the back bar personally).  i havent eaten there in years so i cant really speak to their food, but the ribs have always been their specialty.

When you're in the mood to have a beer and a burger while watching the game, you can't go wrong with Stanley's.

If you hate beer and sports, you still can't really go wrong with Stanley's.  With better-than-typical-bar-food food, a Cheers-like feel/decor, and a kitchen that's open blessedly-late, I hit it every other month  in my rotation.  When I'm not in the mood for foofy but don't quite wanna go to the diner, Stanley's is where it's at.

They have two full bars with competent bartenders who are happy to mix up whatever nutwad concoction you tell 'em, in addition to old favorites.

Don't miss half-price burger night (Tuesdays after 9pm), where you can get a kobe-beef and buffalo burgers (and regular ol' cow-burgers) for cheap.  They have specials every night, but half-price burger night is definitely a favorite.

Let it be known that Cindy is the best server ever; Ranji is a super-close second.  (Just had to get that out.)

Warning: If you have ADD and are distracted by televisions and/or pub trivia, you (or more realistically, your date) are screwed.
