Stone Soup Cafe

I've been going here for several years and my boyfriend and I generally find the healthy options agreeable. I definitely like the atmosphere of this pub because it reminds me of the places I've been to in Boston. The service is sort of spotty; it can be quick one day and slow the next. The overall feel of the place is laid back and unhurried, but that can become an issue if you show up ravenous.

The menu hasn't changed in the past 5 or so years, which can become boring if you're a neighborhood regular. I really wish they would come up with some better "hot" options instead of just soup, salad, and sandwiches. Some sort of pasta dish or expanding their selection of paninis would be a nice compliment to their existing offerings. Boyfriend still enjoys the place, but I kind of grumble whenever he wants to go because I've become so bored of their food.  I used to describe this place to my friends as "Like Panera, but with a full liquor bar" But even Panera has expanded into pasta and has better soup options than those that you might find at a nursing home. Split pea? Butter bean? C'mon guys....show us something more appetizing and creative!

Went there Sunday.  Was in a hurry late for an appointment and our waitress Jess would no give us their Sunday BOGO they advertised.  Funny, no mention of it on advertisement.  Thanks Jess.  5 stars on food, 2 stars on service, 1 star on new customer retention.

My girlfriend and I were in the neighborhood so we stopped by Stone Soup Cafe for a late lunch. We were happy to have an air conditioned respite from the heat more than anything. Our service was good, but I just don't love this restaurant. I have been there several times but it had been years. I remembered that I didn't love it before, but decided it had been a long time and the place is still there (so obviously they must do an OK business), so I thought to give it another chance. However, my Greek salad just wasn't that great. It was fine, but nothing special. I have had much better Greek salads at many other St. Pete restaurants. So, I think it will be while before I give Stone Soup Cafe another shot.
