Sundance Mountain Lodge

Stayed here for a recent family reunion.  Not impressed at all.  Stay away.  

ROOMS: 2 stars  The rooms were clean and  the beds were comfortable. (That's the only nice thing I can say about this place)

Ok so the TV was an old school 19 Tube TV whose remote didn't work in mine or another family members room.   It  only gets like 10 channels anyway, so who cares.  That what's the internet is for now days anyway, right?  

Oh wait the internet is down throughout the facility expect at the front desk.  Huh, that's strange.  Oh the rest of the facility is wireless and that's been affected by the forest fires.  Ok, how?  Explain how the internet is affected by the fires that were not even close to you and doesn't affect your connection in the office but does affect the wireless throughout your property, because I work in tech and that doesn't make sense...Oh it's a Qwest problem...Oh wait I see that it's been a problem for at least a month according to Yelp... And you still haven't fixed it?...Oh it doesn't matter to you because your connection still works and people accept your lie about the fires, because we all know how trying that has been for the region.

Oh you so you don't have roll away beds. Other people ask for them too?  So it's seems like something you should invest in? Oh there is a solution I could get t an air mattress for my nephew, at least that's what other people had done... Ok, so you know that its a problem but you don't invest in a solution, you want me to invest in one for you, is that what I'm hearing from you?

STAFF/MANGAMENT:  1 Star:  Total incompetents with an appalling lack of urgency and empathy for being in the hospitality field.  

What are rooms aren't ready yet. ok we are a little early we can wait. Oh you don't think we can hear your conversation and gossip in your small lobby, well we can.  You mean to tell me that your cleaning staff cleaned all the non booked rooms first and that's why ours aren't ready?.. Well how about switching our rooms.  No that would mean you would have to admit your wrong and gives us an upgrade and you can't do that.  Instead you have us wait 45 minutes and offer us 2 free drink tickets, AND that should satisfy us.  Well I do have 5 people in your party, but I know you didn't ask, because you really don't care.  You just want you us out of the lobby so we don't look bad to the other quests.

Oh you know the wireless is down, but there's nothing you can do.  It's the forest fires fault, not yours...No you don't know when it will be up, but It does work sometimes.  (It never did)

Oh you had the hot tub cleaned on Thursday so it's shut down till Saturday when it's reserved for the Rose family all day long.  Never mind that they will never use it, the important thing is NO ONE ELSE CAN.   So how do I you reserve the hot tub, well it's on our WEBSITE... Oh wait that's right I can't get online because the internet is down

Oh after sitting in the bar for twenty minutes you finally come over to take our order... But its not your fault because your the only server here.

WHERE'S HOW THE WEBSITE SHOULD READ

Our unheated pool in Colorado is cold,  but you can jump in our hot tub.  When it's working, because we keep it clean and we always try to get cleaned on the weekend.   Then if your lucky it won't be reserved all day by a family that will never use it.   Because we don't care if we piss you off and everyone else they paid extra and were all about the Benjamin's here at Sundance Mountain Lodge

Wireless Internet sure we have it but if you want it to work, forget about it.  It's the forest fire fault this week, but if that excuse runs thin we will come up with another.  Just as long as we don't have to pay to get someone out here to look at it. Because again it's all about the Benjamin's here at Sundance Mountain Lodge

Mountain lodge, well it's more like a motel six that we painted and stuck a bunch of wood accents on.  Also we did pour a stamped concrete walkway, but be careful  if it's slick when wet or icy, but that shouldn't be a problem here in Colorado.  And if it is we do warn you with little signs that should exempt us from a lawsuit.  And we don't plan on fixing them anytime soon so get used to because its all about the Benjamin's here at Sundance Mountain Lodge

Yes we have a mountain stream water feature, so you can hear running water in certain rooms, but if you don't like that sound we can put you in one of the other rooms fronting the interstate and you can relax to the sound of eighteen wheels whizzing by.  We don't make a big deal about that because we want you to think you are getting a mountain lodge in the mountains hence our name and besides you should no by now that here at Sundance Mountain lodge its all about the Benjamin's

Oakley's is a full service bar and bistro unless you actually want service.  But hey you can drown your sorrows for cheap at happy hour from three to seven why you wait to check

Ok, so we didn't spend a great deal of time here but from the few hours we did hang out it was a pretty solid experience. I would call this place a nice little "get out of town for one night" spot where you can feel like you're on vacay but it's still close to most things.

I had the fortune of staying in the family suite which was pretty sweet. Two beds in the sleeping room, a nice kitchen area with a FULL SIZE FRIDGE, microwave and cabinet space. There was a nice seating room with a pull-out couch and a cute little balcony that overlooked a lake. And yes, you also see some monstrosity of a grey building but c'mon - it's Monument.

Other guests in smaller rooms mentioned that the walls were super thin and they could hear a lot from the other rooms. The trick to this is to party hard and pass out so you aren't bothered by surround sounds.

There's a pool, little pathways that zigzag throughout the complex, a restaurant/bar and room for parties all in the same building. Also, there was ample parking and the whole place felt welcoming and rugged. I would stay here again.

I just wanted a short getaway so tried this place via a deal.  The high notes: very clean in the room and outside grounds, staff at front desk very good, would've like to have had a flat screen tv but in the end tv was fine, room was very clean, bathroom with no mold, bed very good.  The happy hour at the bar was great with the only problems of carbonation with beer was low and the guy at the bar kept coughing and wiping his mouth with his hand and handling money and not washing hands but serving drinks, the bar on the whole was very clean and the female bartender very nice and attentive, I would recommend this place, the grounds are very nice and clean, all these comments coming from a guy who is critical of dirty hotels and uncaring staff
