That was truly some of the worst food served by the rudest people I have ever met. Â I don't know what they were serving but it seemed more like fried dog with toenail clippings. Â And it smelled like someone made the food with their stinking, sweaty feet. Â Not to mention the server was deaf - probably because of the sounds of all the people expelling horrible clouds of gas from that grub. Â
If you are looking for some chinese food that won't make you puke after the first bite - drive right past this place.
Mediocre Chinese food. Â All appetizers are good except the chicken wings - breaded and awful tasting - The buffet has a nice variety and all is fresh and hot. Â The duck sauce leaves something to be desired, but that's a small thing. Â Great attentive service with a smile. Â Full bar if you're so inclined. Â Better yet, do yourself a favor and drive 6 miles to Jing's Garden in Medfield.
Review Source:I'm lowering my rating from 5 stars to 4. I still like this place, but for some reason they're not refilling the buffet as quick or as often as they used to. Seems we're coming across empty trays more often. It's still fresh, but they're not quite as good as they used to be keeping the trays full.
Review Source:Best Chinese buffet I have ever encountered.
I went here with my with a couple of friends. They told me the hot and sour soup was amazing and they had a gift-card. Upon entering you see a simple but well designed buffet style restaurant. We sat at a booth where they brought us tea and waters.
I ordered the hot and sour simple cause i was told i had to. It was amazing. Best soup I have had at a Chinese restaurant. After finishing I started in with the buffet. the General Gao's chicken was great. I found it to be good cut of chicken with a clean sauce not goopy or syrupy. The pot stickers were covered in sesame sauce, delicious. The chicken fingers were tasty and bready. The spareribs were covered in honey again done in a nice sauce.
You must go here for lunch its simple and great. Beats all other Chinese places hands down.
Szechuan Garden is hands-down the best Chinese buffet in the area. Â The price is very reasonable for a buffet, and the food is delicious. Â Not as many options as say, Imperial Buffet, but as the previous poster mentioned, it's quality, not quantity. Â I would rather have a buffet with 12 very good items to choose from, than 30 steam trays of mediocrity.
Also, while most people go here just for the buffet, the drinks are surprisingly good! Â Much better than the jugs of "Mai Tai" they pour you at the Lotus for about the same price. Â Although it does lack the "a brawl could erupt at any second" ambience of the Lotus, which is always fun.
It baffles me how Szechuan has a lower Yelp aggregate than other Medway area Chinese establishments, but I can say that I've not experienced any horror stories like other Yelpers. This is not to say the negative reviews should be disregarded; this is from my experiences having dined at Szechuan many times over the years.
I cannot comment with certainty, however, on the current made to order menu items. Whenever I go to Szechuan Garden I assault the buffet table with little hesitation. Frugal foodies will opt for the Lunch Buffet (currently $7.75), But dinner still is reasonable at $12.25. The buffet is one of the better in the area - offering fresh, heavily rotated dishes, and a choice of soup to lead off with (Wanton, Hot and Sour, and Eggdrop as I recall). The staff keeps a very keen eye on steam trays that have sat for too long and swap for fresh food accordingly. The options on the buffet vary from day to day, and I'll be damned to figure the exact science of it all, but the dishes cover enough bases to satisfy most any palate in search of Chinese food.
One major point of fact in regards to the buffet is that it's a solitary table. You won't find a gaggle of mystery food at Szechuan Garden, nor will you see pizza and chimichangas in a steam tray next to Lo Mein. Szechuan clearly believes in stocking a quality buffet, not blinding it's patrons with a halfhearted, gargantuan mess of mediocre eats. You come here, you're getting a fresh Chinese buffet.
The staff is attentive, friendly, and almost precognitive at times. They will refill your water with mutant ability. I have never once sat at a table here and had to chase someone for a refill of any sort - they're generally very sharp and very consistent.
All in all, Szechuan Garden is a fantastic option for Chinese food, as far as I'm concerned. If you find yourself traveling down 109 through Medway, swing on in, and enjoy one of the hidden gems of the area.
I had Chinese food from Szechuan Garden on a cold winter day. My uncle placed the order and all I had to do was pick it up. The place is easy to locate, literally in the middle of a large plaza.
This restaurant happens to be my aunt and uncles favorite place to have Chinese food near their house. This being said, I didn't care very much for the food. We got two po po platters, one order of chow mein as well as an order of fried rice.
Everything on the po po platter was covered with grease. I had a piece of the teriyaki chicken stick and didn't like it much. The meat was extremely chewy. I also had an egg roll after wrapping it in a paper towel in order to soak up some of the grease it had. After cutting the grease, the egg roll wasn't that bad, but it wasn't good either. The rice had large pieces of egg and tiny veggies; I didn't care much for the chow mein. The only thing I actually liked was the crab rangoon, which happened to be at the top of the to-go box, these were the only things not greasy.
After reading what Laura S. had to say about this place I didn't want to risk it and didn't try the sauce that came with the po-po platter.
We have been eating here for years. Â My kids would not eat any other Chinese food in the area after eating here. Â Â The food is always fresh on the buffet. Â Â Wait staff is efficient, always there to fill your water glass, want it or not. Â The turn over is very quick. Â Get there early on the weekend if you want to eat in. Â I know they do a ton of take out business. Â 4 Chinese restaurants in Medway, Szechuan Garden, by far is the best.
Open Christmas, that's where you will find us.
