T & A Cocktail Lounge

This is the ONLY true bar in Susanville. I first walked from the Best Western all the way (1.4 miles) to the Lassen Ale Works/ Pioneer Bar, but they were closed (Mondays and Tuesdays). Pissed and out of breath (4300 feet above sea level and a slight uphill climb) I headed back to the hotel looking for a watering hole.
I ran into this place and walked in. The place is dark and half the folks in there were smoking. Everyone was glued to the TV as they were showing live footage of the ex LAPD guy holed out in a cabin in Big Bear.
The folks in here are all regular locals. They ranged from local college students to retirees to your neighbor. Folks were very nice. It was easy to strike up a conversation about the town. I was going to have only two beers but ended up staying for four.
Bartender was a nice guy and the patrons were all mellow and good company. The smoke was a bit stinky but I was glad to find a bar in this town.

DIVE BAR ALERT!! And not a good dive bar. Dark and strange interior. Pool table is falling apart. The owner looked like we were inconveniencing him by being there. Not friendly at all.

Skip this dump and find somewhere else to get your drink on.

If you want your clothes to stink of cigarettes and your lungs to cry out for fresh air, by all means come here!

Let's see, they served hot dogs out of a crock pot and they don't have any beer on tap.

I was jonesing for some football and they have TVs.

The people weren't unfriendly despite it clearly having a "locals-only" vibe. In fact, one woman (probably both drunk and medicated) gave me her phone number and full address...just in case I needed anything. It was nice in a weird way, or weird in a nice way...you decide.

$3.25 for a bottle of Sierra Nevada

For some people this place would be a dark and dingy "Cheers", for me...not so much.
