    Really or were you guys messing with me. This place freaking blows. Now i expected an older crowd that was kinda hip, but what i saw was a reason to stop drinking now before I go full blown alcoholic and spend the rest of my life at the local bar. I think the waitresses would give u backseat ride if the money is right. Guys and Ladies no matter how much lipstick or cologne you put on an old fat pig it is still gonna be an old fat pig. 8}

Locals, Locals, Locals...this place is full of them. So if you went to the Ranch or live in the area there's a 90% chance you'll see someone you know or someone that dated your Tia from back in the day! Haha...all BS aside this place has GREAT Dinner specials that's what im reviewing. The steaks are pretty damn good, the mashers could use some work but for $15 you can get a pretty decent steak with a couple sides and garlic toast, can't beat that. Cheap beer and games on the TV's don't hurt either. The ambiance is old school rustic wood cabin'ish...kinda cool. Good service with a smile, stop on by if your ever in town.

    Honorable Mention: Steak Dinner special

Small, with an older crowd, but the drinks were reasonable and not a bad place at all.  I'll probably be back, maybe try some of the food there.

Great food great prices! Last time I was there there were outside vendors selling stuff, which was weird. :/ Always a fan of the juke box.  :)

A good friend of mine asked me to have dinner with her here one night... I had passed this place tons of times & I always wondered.

I didn't want to join her that night because I was exhausted, but I am sure glad I did!!
Their Tri-tip sandwich is soooooo good!!
From the bread to the juicy meat covered in BBQ sauce... Oooh mann!! Heavenly! I order mind with no cheese & I add caramelized onions.

I am having one right now. I called in my order for lunch.

    Services it pretty good.
The late night crowd is pretty interesting & If you like cougars, this is the place to be! lol.

I need to try their Breakfast.. I hear its prettty damm good.

My husband and son(12) took me here for Mothers day. We went in the back door and thought we were going in the wrong way because when I peeked in I saw a bar ,so we walked around the front and were a little embarrassed because a couple that was sitting at a table kinda giggled at us, Anyway we went in and I had the best rib-eye steak I had ever had ! When I was finished with my dinner the waitress gave me a rose. Nice touch for mothers day.The steak was huge and the bake potato was huge, we definitely will be be going back. The waitress was also helpful and great service.

I was there recently and they allowed a young boy around seven years old come in past 11:00 p.m. He was with adults and was falling asleep at the table. I thought it was horrible to allow a child in a bar at that hour. People drink, get drunk and do things that are inappropriate for a child to see. I will never be another patron again!

Where should i begin?! Driving by this place you might not think much of it, but it is definitely one of Pico Rivera' gems. The customer service is something to brag about... Quick and friendly service. I have been here many times and they have been taking good care of me since day one. The beer is always cold, the cocktails made just right and the food.... the food is killer... the Tamarack recently updated their menu to include a wide variety of BBQ, and they definitely know what they are doing.

my personal favorite: bacon cheese burger w onion rings and bbq sauce on the side. i make my own western bacon cheese burger. add cold be to that and you're golden.
my girl recommends the brisket sandwich, which is also very legit.

great for a drinks after work on a thursday or friday. if you like to karaoke, this is definitely a good place to go. if you want to throw down on some good bbq, they got you.

its a rowdy good time w some good people.

Good local place to hang out.  I've never seen this place crowded, but for a good stiff drink, this is the place!  Especially walking distance from where i now live.  The food is pretty good, even though I always get the same, Steak Sandwich, but always sample my friend's plate (who ever happens to go with me).  Just had 2 vodka tonics tonight and have a gooooood buzz.

Someone here described it like being in the keebler elf tree.

I would liken it to being in the old school bear country jamboree.  It has that sort of kitsch feel to it, sans the animatronic bears and catchy children's music.

Erica C and I decided to try this place since I'd seen it was near the both of us.

I tried the full set of ribs and the baked sweet potatoes.

While not spectacular, it was the way I like ribs: meat falling off the bones, slathered in sauce, and messy as hell.

They had karaoke that night. The only person singing was the DJ, and one other person.

    Awkward.

Had we more friends there, we would have dominated their playlist. So just in case you're looking for a new karaoke place to take over with your friends, come here.

Ok, this review is starting to bore me, but I just have to say, I'll definitely be coming back here (c:

It's dark & small inside...but nice.  Cool bar with good food.  The brisket sandwich was tender and tasty...yummy.  My kid swears by the bbq pork sandwich....Some on her face..some on her shirt..but most in her mouth.
Would go more often if it was just a little closer.... Cool Bartender :)

This Bar/BBQ joint looks interesting/old inside but everyone was very friendly including what appeared to be the bars local alkies. the place is a bit small but the food was all reasonably priced and tasted ok, not amazing but it definitely scratches the bbq fix.

I drove by this place many times. My buddy lives down the street and knows nothing about the place. On Friday night my girl and I were cruising the streets in search on something NON-Thai. She can't eat Thai everyday like I can.  As I drove east on Slauson I saw a huge sign on the Tamarack that stated the joint was under "New management and that the Menu was updated. Cool , lets give it a shot. My girl was kind of hesitant as always but hunger made her walk thru the front door.  The inside is setup like a log cabin with alot of cool decor everywhere. You can smell the smoked B-B-Q as you walk in. They have a stocked bar with a couple of t.v's on each corner.  We were greeted and seated . The manager served us our drinks and I learned that he is an avid B-B-Qer and likes to smoke meats. The menu had alot of good items, Tri-tip, ribs, sausages, chicken, etc. I ordered the half rack of baby back ribs and my girl ordered the Tri-tip sandwich. We got a side of smoked beans and coleslaw. When the food arrived I noticed huge portions and the smells were Awesome. The food tasted Great. The ribs were tender and tasty and my girls tri-tip sandwich was Right On. Way better then Chris and Pitts. a We will definitely be coming back.

Richard and I were out roaming the eastern edge of Los Angeles on our anniversary when we stumbled into this extraordinary place, open since 1962, which looks like an unassuming log cabin from the outside. The magical interior is dark and cool (like the forest that inspired it), with hand shaped butter smooth wooden beams, cheery animal-themed stained glass, peculiar and very comfy one-armed chairs that demand that you splay your limbs, photos of historic Pico Rivera scenes, gracious staff and a crew of regulars who were scarfing down lunch and talking loudly about a colleague who'd had a sex change operation! In a bizarro world in which Clifton's Cafeteria was not founded by teetotalers and had a little bar tucked away somewhere behind the chapel, it would look a lot like the Tamarack Inn. They have jazz on Sundays and Karaoke on other days, no beers on tap (phooey, I'd dock one star for that, but I think the first reviewer underrated it) and good, homemade onion rings.

You won't see this kind of decor just anywhere. Just to see the interior of the bar may be worth the trip alone. The inside looks like the Keebler elves were evicted and the cookie factory was replaced with a bar/steak house OR if you squint it looks like it might be on the sketchy east-side of  the Shire in Mordor.  It really looks like a tree was hollowed out, well at least it did to me.
I have not tried the steaks but the people I asked, who did partake said they were pretty good. No thanks I'll take my lunch/dinner in a low-ball with ice. Any hoot the crowd is made up of mostly locals and you can even do Karaoke if you feel up to it. It's not too big inside only about five or six tables and a pretty good size bar. When I was there the drinks were poured with love but my regular bartender no longer works there. Check it out and let me know how close I was with the description. Don't plan on being there too late, for some reason they will have last call at 11:45 or midnight sometimes even earlier. I don't know why it is like that.
