My date and I meant to go to the Atlantic Beer Garden after a stroll through the ICA the other day. However, the beer garden was super loud and not conducive to talking, so we kept walking and ended up here.
On a Thursday night, this place was pretty empty. We enjoyed the Guava-Rita and the Mexican Horchata cocktails and both got the black bean burger.
Later that night, some guy started singing covers of popular songs which made for a slightly cheesy but comfortable ambiance.
Pros: good service, not too crowded, felt laid-back
Cons: a bit far from where I usually go, so I don't know when/if I'll be back
Bottom Line: not a bad place considering it's a hotel bar, I'd go back if I find myself in the area again :)
Came here for their Canine Happy Hour, which they hold on Wednesdays from 5:00 - 7:30PM, that's right you get to bring your dog and drink outside. No food is served and it is in a segregated section away from other patrons. In the gated off area they have homemade dog treats made by the chef. This is a very fun and casual scene for dog lovers and owners.Their version of a mojito I had was also very tasty and not bad at $11 considering it is in the Seaport.
Review Source:I struggled with this review. The food at Tamo was delicious. Fairly priced and quite tasty. My friend and I split the steamers, fish tacos and a lobster roll. The food was good and they gave you good portions too.
I only gave Tamo 3 stars because the service was the WORST I have ever encountered. I literally had to flag down a waiter every time I needed something (menu, utensils, a wine list, etc). The worst part is that they weren't even busy! I'm not sure if the staff was just new or completely inattentive.
For me - service is make or break for a meal. Not sure I would be in any rush to go back to this place.
We escaped for a late night drink and snack at the bar here (we were staying at Seaport hotel so this was downstairs). Â It was very convenient, and the food was great, although the drinks were standard. Â Here's the breakdown:
- Lobster Roll - very delicious. Â The roll was a bit crispy, there was a ton of lobster, and some veggies. Â The lobster was not drenched in mayonnaise and I loved whatever herb that they mixed in (dill? Â Just a guess...). Â The fries they were served with were crispy and tasty. Â And I thought the cole slaw tasted better than most that I've had, not that I'm a huge connoisseur of cole slaw.
- Duck breast sliders - served with a steamed Chinese sweet bread and sweet pickles on the side. Â The duck tasted good, although a bit dry. Â I also like such dishes with hosien sauce, and that was missing. Â It would have helped, especially since the meat was a bit dry.
- Cinnamon and sugar churros with Dul ce de leche - the churros were really good, although it was such a SMALL portion - especially compared to the amount of Dul ce de leche sauce that they give you. Â Disappointing only bc the churros were so small and few. Â I've made churros before ad trust me, it's not that expensive to pipe a bit more batter into the oil to fry.
- sugar-free chocolate mousse - eh, not a fan of sugar free foods, but someone else in our group ordered it. Â Standard, okay for sugar-free.
Drinks: peach Bellini and a Shangri La cocktail - both only okay.
Service: friendly and quick
Had a great lunch, enjoyed the mushroom & arugula pizza with truffle oil & also has the crab claws. Â Food was amazing & I felt it was a decent price. Â They do include the tip in the bill (I assume because it's part of a hotel) Â but not a big deal since I usually leave 20% and they only do 18% and we thought the service was spot on!
Review Source:We grabbed a quick drink here as part of the
HALLOWEEN PUB CRAWL 2012,
and HOWLOWEEN CHARITY EVENT.
DRINKS: Â Bartender was fast & friendly,
even though the bar was pretty full.
FOOD: Â We had a delicious pumpkin pizza.
DECK: Â The deck is a bit small,
so expect to wait for a table in Summer.
It was perfect for containing the many small dogs
whose owners turned out for their Howloween!
THE DEAL: Â This bar is warmly nestled in
the Seaport Hotel and offers outdoor seating.
We decided to stop in to try out Tamo on a Saturday afternoon in September at 2pm after discovering that both Del Frisco's and Mortons were both closed. It took over 10 minutes for the server to bring us menus. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. this was probably the only reason why we didnt walk out. We ordered drinks and sliders that were just ok. The menu was boring. We decided to try out the glazed pork that was just horrible. This place needs a new manager because the views were awesome and decor. Tamo Bar has great potential.
Review Source:Innovative menu which changes seasonally. At the moment they have implemented their fall menu which includes lobster claws for $5 each. I had the tuna and salmon tartar along with 2 lobster claws and I thought both dishes were excellent.
When the weather was warmer the had outside seating  and trendy music which made  for a very pleasant dining experience.
Unlike the nearby bar at the Renaissance Hotel nearby (which I like), pricing is much more affordable for both food and wine.
I really enjoy it here. Highly recommened.
Spur of the moment, Provincetown Fast Ferry. Stipe our bartender- took our pictures, fed us, poured drinks and told us stories. Lobster roll and roasted vegetable sandwich to die for. We had a ball! Where else can u get Veuve Cliquot by the glass, plus homemade sangrias and others. For the ferry taker spend a few bucks and start your trip to P town off right!!!
Review Source:Grabbed a quick dinner and drink here before heading up to our room at the Seaport Hotel. And by quick I mean extremely slow.
While the food is fairly good, the service is horrendous. Ever feel like your very presence is an inconvenience? I usually don't because I'm charming as hell- but I did here. Nothing drives me more mad than a service employee who hates their life and takes it out on the customer in the form of drag-ass, roll your eyes, attitude-laden job performance. So your career isn't what you thought it would be- go back to college or bring me my hamburger. Preferably the latter, please.
Won't go back.
Many of the earlier reviews were lowdown on service issues...we had none. In fact, in the mid of a heatwave day, when all the other spots nearby were sardined, this place was cool, comfortable...the woman at the front was all smiles and the bartender who worked our side table was very good and nice. Everything was prompt...the beers were extra cold and large and hit the spot...
We had some tuna sliders, they were pretty good, a bit dry...some sides of halibut that were cooked right and split a salmon club sans bacon, a very nice sandwich...I would come back to try some of the other offerings like a homemade 'rustic' burrata, they have changing arancini of the day, cod fritters...we were surprised the service charge was added, it is a hotel though..we prob would have tipped more for the nice service, cool air  and ambiance...
I was going to have dinner hear because it was a nice night and this place had outdoor seating. When I got there on a Friday night I was happy to see a parking spot outside. I was going to park but an employee named Ilir said I can't park there he was saving it for himself. You can't stand at an open spot and say its yours. Ilir said that was how it is. Well Tamo thank Ilir you have one less customer.
Review Source:Advertised brunch on yelp cancelled for winter season. No mention of this when I made reservation. Â When I inquired in bar about this they suggested a different venue. Way to keep up customer retention. Â What they do have is a sub-standard breakfast with incompetent staffing at their sister restaurant Aura. I will continue to list the inequities on their site in the interest of fairness. All Tamo is guilty of is false advertisement.
Review Source:I hate to jump on the band wagon but I wasn't thrilled with Tamo. The food is okay but service sucks. I'd figure with the tip already on the check, they'd work harder besides, you could always tip more if they were amazing. I ate one desert and two dinners here. My favorite item was the caramel mousse and that little shot glass of goodness was the bomb.
Review Source:- 1 star for good cocktails
- 1 star for location
- 0 stars for a wait staff that doesn't care because their tip is guaranteed in your bill
- 0 stars for the slow, unknowledgeable service. Â I truly believe our waiter was stoned.
First visit was August 1st, 2011. Â If you just want a drink and don't care about service then this bar is a-okay!
This place is fabulous!
We took the kids there ages 11, 12, 14 and even they were wowed! Â They treated the kids as if they were important too. They sat us close to another family off to the side which was great as I know when I'm out WITHOUT the kids I hate sitting next to a bunch of noisy runts. Â
The chefs Rachel (i only remember cause i saw her on Whdh 7 news with Francis Rivera) and although I can't remember the other chefs name both came out to ask the kids if they were enjoying their meal.
The food was served fast and tasted fresh (I don't know how they did this).
I also ordered a glass of wine which came I'm a LARGE wine glass and it was actually filled 3/4 of the way. Un like most places which offer tiny glasses only 1/2 filled.
So if you find yourself in the seaport district on date night, or at the childrens museum with the kids TAMO is the place to eat. Great food and great service.
This place is definitely a place for an older crowd, the beers are a big pricey and they include the gratuity and dong tell people when you get the bill?
Went there on a Saturday night for a few drinks and it was nice because it wasn't jam packed with people.
I would say go here to start off a weekend night and then move on or stay for a low key time.
Grabbed a quick glass of wine here with my mother when she and my father were in town for an event at the Seaport Hotel. Â We sat at the bar, right in front of the bartender for about five minutes before he asked us what we would like. Â It was crowded, but not that crowded...after all we were able to get seats at the bar. Â
The tip was included with the bill...no wonder...it provides little motivation for the servers to earn their money.
I like the Seaport Hotel, but they need to work on their bar service.
Only had the chicken pops as we had drinks.
They were TERRIBLE!!!! Recooked, cold and greasy. Fast food joints could do better.
Service was even worse. The girls in there completely ignored me and when I tried to order, they made me feel like I was putting them out, even though they were just standing there chatting!
I have stayed in the hotel and it really is a lovely place. HOWEVER, it has a 'NO TIPPING POLICY' which probably explains the pathetic service.
606 Congress (2 seconds away) is MUCH better.
So, I was down at the Seaport one evening a couple of weeks back with the better half. Â We were on the hunt for some al fresco dining, and this fit the bill perfectly. Â It's a cute little tented-off section, right off the sidewalk with a couple of sofa/table combinations and some high barstool/table combinations. Â They were playing some Euro Electronic Lounge over their speakers at, arguably, a perfect level.
We were seated quickly, but then had to wait a good 15 minutes before the waitress even came over. Â They also didn't give me a wine menu; I had to ask for it directly from another server. Â It looks like it's a shared wine list from Tamo and Aura, so there's a great, albeit pricey selection of wines on the list. Â Lowest-priced reds that I saw were ~ $35-$40. Â Highest? Â Yeah, well let's just say it was out of my price range that night....or any night.
So, the food....I ordered the Roasted Salmon, and my date ordered the Goat Cheese ravioli. Â While very well prepared and quite delicious, portions were definitely small for the price. Â My date (bless her heart) was grumbling about paying $16 for 3 ravioli. Â I'm Italian, so the thought of three ravioli costing $16 amuses/annoys me, but whatever. Â It was such a nice night, the wine was damn good, and our table was perfect for watching all the drunk people stumbling out of the microbrew convention at the WTC.
The service was pretty rough around the edges. Â I attribute this more to what I feel is the "newness" of the terrace (and the waitress) and less to an attitude. Â When she did randomly appear, she was very sweet and attentive. Â Questions about the menu, etc., however, may be met with blank stares.
One final note -- an 18% gratuity is ALWAYS included in the final bill, regardless of the party size. Â Apparently, it's a side effect of being part of the hotel dining. Â I'd never seen this before, and it was, to be honest, a little off-putting. Â I normally tip ~ 20% anyway, but I prefer seeing forced, included gratuities for larger parties rather than a table of two. Â Definitely odd.
All in all, dinner for two and a bottle of wine with gratuity set me back ~ $100.
I'll probably be back...if for no other reason than I really like drinking and people-watching.
Did not eat here but did drink here.
Setting is pretty chill but you should try and win the two seats in front of the fireplace... very nice.
Atmosphere/ patrons = mixed bag... always funny to be in a hotel bar... you get all those people who wear sports team clothing and then a random family with multiple children in tow, throw in some suits, some older folks, a rogue indie couple and there ya have it...
Service was fast given how busy it was. +1
Drinks were well made and fairly priced. +1
Wine selection was moderate but had enough of the right choices. +1
So lets see... that adds up to 3 stars in my book.
Like so many hotel lobby bars, I wouldn't bother being there if I didn't have a room upstairs... but since I did... good spot for pre-gaming. Oddly enough, I saw a lot of ugly shoes in this bar... I know I should not judge a book by it's shoe but for gods sake people, a great pair of kicks certain makes any bleak-ass outfit ok!
Hard to find if you aren't actively searching for it. Â The sign does not face the street, it only says Aura so you will think you are at the wrong bar until you walk in and ask someone where to go.
A friend and I went her before going to he ICA free Thursday around 6pm. Â We had chicken lollipops which were gross too much batter and dry, the food was bad, the drinks and sliders were good. Â The bathrooms were clean, but a little far walk away. Â The men were a bit older (40s), so this is not a place for two young girls. Â The kitchen is shared with Aura, so I would have rather eaten there for the sophisticated dinner appeal, rather than the bar. The bar is nice, service was nice, just make sure you know that the sliders and drinks are $12 not $9!!
I may return only if I am staying in the hotel.
Go there for the calamari appetizer. Boyfriend and I went to Tamo when we met his dad who was in town for a convention. While it would have been nice to go out we stayed in the hotel since it was pouring out. Good choice.
We were seated quickly, unfortunately it was right under an AC diffuser. Brrr. We might have just had a bad seat but I suggest a jacket or wrap if you don't want to freeze.
Our first round of drinks came really quickly, then the appetizers came quickly after that. We got a small order of calamari and a large order of spring rolls. The calamari was tender, fresh, and seasoned well. Chili pepper paste was light dolloped on the calamari and it was served with a spicy mayo. The spring rolls were crispy, full of veggies and served with a sweet chili dipping sauce. I really think the spring rolls were simple but executed well because they were fried perfectly.
So after those appetizers we realized we were still hungry, but not hungry enough for meals so we got a large order of calamari. Clearly, we really liked it. This order took long to get to us which was disappointing since the first order came so quickly and we wanted more.
I think the prices are fine for being in a hotel. They add the tip to the bill which makes wrapping up your meal easier- just be sure to remember that and don't double tip!
I suggest this place if you are in the area, don't think about doing valet at the hotel- easily $20!!
As a general Seaport rule-of-thumb, this place is hard to find -- no sign or anything outside.
At around a 6pm on a Thursday night, this place was full of 30-48-yr old business people grabbing beers and taking advantage of the slider+beer  special. NOW - I didn't have a little card explaining the special on my table, so I took the waitress' word that it was $9 for 3 sliders (burger, turkey, pulled pork) and 3 "taster"-sized beers. When we  got the bill we found out that it was actually $9 for just the sliders and $3 for the beer flight. Not only that, they added the tip into the bill, which is perhaps normal for a hotel.
Atmosphere: Very after-work happy hour. Also, it kind of seems to have a Japanese-inspired interior but also an eclectic menu...
Sliders: All of them were good. The turkey burger was juicy with a nice greek-style spice, and the pulled-pork was very BBQ-plate: cornbread buns, sauce, and coleslaw. Yum.
Chickpea Fries: We didn't quite know what to expect. They came out looking like french toast sticks, and they tasted like seared hummus with a strong coriander spice. The green dipping sauce made them very edible. Looking back, I'd suggest it as an experience - "Food in unusual shapes and forms." (Maybe they're part of an ICA exhibit...)
Chicken Lollipops: NOOOOO!!!! The sauce was good, the crispy fried pieces of garlic were good, the chicken itself tasted old/gamey/whatever. We didn't even try to take it home.
Service: Very good except for the price mis-hap.
I wouldn't wander back to the Seaport just for this..... but I wouldn't mind just the beer and sliders if I happened to be there.
$9 beer and sliders on a Thursday night happy hour from 5-8pm sounds kinda boring. BUT the sliders were your choice of BBQ hamberger sliders, corn bread roll - pulled pork sliders, or if you get their early enough lobster roll sliders. Mix and match three. The pulled pork cornbread ones were great! The beer was normal what they had on tap for a flight - choose three. I had UFO, Sams and Stella. The service was slow, but we weren't in a rush. Not crowded so we got to sit on these oversized-cushy chairs against the wall. I'd definitely go back. DON'T park down there (or at least be ready to pay for a garage for $11).
