I met my friend there, sat at a table by the bar. Our waiter, Josh, was initially friendly and conversational, but began to rush us out of there shortly after we received our food. He dropped the bill off saying "no rush, just whenever you are finished". We weren't even close to having finished our food at that point, but we handed him our credit cards and asked him to split the bill. He picked up the signed receipts and wished us a good night (we still had food and full glasses of wine). To my horror, he returned to the table and asked my friend if she had meant to tip him more. He actually showed her my credit card receipt, saying "she tipped me more than you did"! Between our tips, Josh had received over 27% of the total bill, there was no reason for him to come back. This ruined our night, we left embarrassed.
Review Source:This place had good food, but it was a bit pricey. I enjoyed the turkey burger I ordered. Our tab ran pretty high because we ordered a few beers and dessert in addition to dinner. We waited about an hour for a table, but we had a large group and it was a weekend night so I didn't mind. Service was "meh." They have a great selection of beers. Waited a while to get beers at the bar, though. It was pretty crowded.
This was my first time at Tavern in the Square and I would go again just for beers and appetizers so I wouldn't have to spend so much- and perhaps go at a less busy time. Dinner was good, but not exactly worth it for the price. I might go to dinner here again if it was a special occasion or something. Not for a casual dinner.
I struggled with my rating for Tavern in the Square because there were things I did enjoy but also things I did. Â The location is great- right off Middlesex Turnpike in Burlington and is a great meeting spot with friends. Â However, getting into the parking lot is difficult and their main parking is limited. Â The food was meh, just ok. Â Their concepts are great but they just couldn't fully execute the dishes. Â I tried this place for a second time for girl's night because the drink menu looked good. Â Our first round of drinks we had to send back because they lacked flavor and were just not good. Â They allowed us to order a different drink, which was great of them; however the second drink also lacked flavor and creativity. Â They have a very large bar with surrounding TVs and I think this is more of a beer and burger type place to hang out and watch a game. Â I may consider going back to try the Sunday brunch buffet but do to recent unpleasant food experiences, that probably won't be for a while.
Review Source:My wife, 8yr old daughter, and I went there the first summer weekend of 2013. I had the chipotle turkey burger, my wife had the honey buffalo skewers, we all shared the fried pickles (awesome) and my daughter had the nachos after she told us she didn't like the kids pasta she originally got. Our server, Josh, was awesome throughout the entire visit. Very friendly and great with my daughter. He made sure the nachos had extra sour cream at her request and we weren't charged for the pasta. The manager came out when he saw we were in the sun and offered to move us under an umbrella (we didn't ask BTW). All in all, it was a very pleasant and accommodating visit. The food was excellent. Now keep in mind this was lunch on a Sunday. Not sure what to expect on a busy work night or Sat night, but all in all we will be back.
Review Source:I stopped in here on my lunch break. The bar looked pretty packed so I asked to be seated. The male host looked extremely annoyed that I would ever think of sitting. He was extremely impatient with me and rolled his eyes when I had a hard time getting in the high top booth (after 2 knee surgerys you'd have a tough time too, jerk!). My server was great, very attentive and sweet. Her name was Amanda. The food on the otherhand, was very disappointing. The tuscan pasta came out within 3 minutes, and the smell reminded me of a lean cuisine I once had. It was precooked pasta with veggies soaked in "pesto" which was mainly olive oil. Flavorless and overpriced. I got dessert, a slice of chocolate cake but it was either stale or a few hours away from being stale. It was dry and didn't taste that great. I'd probably only come back for the cocktails. My bill with the tip was 50 bucks, SO not worth it.
Review Source:As a sports bar this place probably rates at least another star. My wife and I went for lunch, though, not for drinks. Â
Their water is unfiltered and reeks of chlorine. Â My veggie burger was dried out and tasteless on a stale-ish ciabatta roll, and it came covered with soggy feta cheese and some apparently frozen mixed vegetables. They call this Mediterranean style, but I call it gross.
The burger was ordered with "onion strings" on the side, but what arrived was giant mounds of fried dough with maybe an onion in there somewhere. More like what you would expect in a Burger King.
My companion had Asian chicken salad, which she said was OK but with a peanut sauce too spicy for her to eat.
Service was OK until the end, when the waiter did one of those disappearing acts after delivering the check. Â Several other staff walked by our table, with none of them bothering to pick up the obviously-ready credit card. Â That's always a sign of lax discipline and lack of teamwork in a restaurant.
When the waiter did arrive with my paid credit card slip, he plunked it down and said, "Here you go, xxxxx" using my first name, which he had read off the card. Â I'm almost old enough to be this guy's grandfather, but that would be rude no matter who he's talking to. Â I find even "Mr. xxxxx" taken from the card a little creepy when i haven't otherwise volunteered my name, but first names....no.
So, I wouldn't rule out stopping by for a drink, but I'll be sure to eat first. (B.Good right across the street has the best veggie burgers and fresh fries in town.)
Went here the other night for Bruins game 6, Mothers day, and a CoronRita (raspberry). I had an amazing time. Â We sat at the bar. Rachel was our bartender and she was excellent, very attentive and smiling. As a bartender myself I tend to watch what other bartenders do. She was pleasant to everyone and knew what she was doing. Never seemed overwhelmed and multitasked all night. I got thw sweet bbq tips and they were so delicious. Â At first glance it looked like a really small portion but it was actually really filling. I go here often for brunch too which is always delightful. Cant wait to go back soon!
Review Source:I've been to Tavern in The Square locations in Brighton/Allston & Salem - both as a night out for beers location and once for lunch in Salem. Both were good experiences so I thought I'd try the venue in Burlington when I needed to meet my Dad who was in from out of town, for a beer & bite to eat at a place that was open after 10pm on a weeknight (as not many places are ANYWHERE outside the city).
Got there around 930pm, the bar half was pretty crowded with VERY loud music. We sat in a booth parallel to the bar on the restaurant side. We weren't even acknowledged until at least 20 minutes after sitting down. We made eye contact with several servers walking by who were taking care of ONE group next to us and...nothing. Â Finally, our order was taken (didn't need anymore time to decide, 20 mins was good enough). The beer my Dad chose: the keg was tapped, not a big deal - it happens - we love beer, he found another. The beer I ordered: the pint glass was handed to me only full up to at least an inch below the rim...no head. Never seen that before...
Tomato soup - great. Â Mixed salad with goat cheese, walnuts & apples: rough.
Overall would not recommend this Tavern location for food at all. BUT the bar side looked fun for a Thursday night, lots of TV's - so if I was in the area, I'd give it a try for just drinks at least once.
After reading some of the reviews on here for "TITS" (Tavern In The Square), I was apprehensive about my upcoming dinner. But, the place turned out to be fine. Granted it was packed, quite loud and the food was mediocre at best. But, it was ok. For dinner I tried to play it safe. I got a burger and waffle fries. The fries were good but the burger was over cooked and the bun was stale.
I have to say, there were a few high points to my dinner. Our server was very good. I wish I could remember his name. We had a large party of 12 and he took good care of us. He was attentive without being intrusive. He was knowledgeable and most importantly, he kept our glasses filled. The other positive was the beer selection. They had a really good mix of craft brews.
So, would I come back? Am I a "TITS" man? Not so much... I might stop in for a beer on my way somewhere else but I wouldn't linger too long.
This place has really great food, and extensive menu options - I have to give it 3 stars because of how long the wait can be on the weekends (which is probably a good sign business-wise), but I have to rate on overall experience. Â I do recommend this place, though - I also heard great things about the weekend brunch, and can't wait to try it!
Review Source:I've recently moved to Burlington, but I am very familiar with the Burlington area anyways. I was excited to see that there would be a new "bar" type place because living in the suburbs there isn't much!
A group of us wanted to go for dinner and drinks. The rule is that you have to have at LEAST 6 people to make reservations otherwise it's first come, first serve -- and on a Friday or Saturday night that means hours.
Their drinks are large and the cocktails are yummy but they are quite pricey.
The margaritas are very good and I've had the mango crush - also delicious!
The food is good, portions are large - enough for 2 people.
Parking is terrible....even to get TO the parking lot is confusing.
I do reccomend but I'd go only for a splurge or special occasion.
We've been here a few times. I want to like this place. The beer menu is great and the bar staff is knowledgable. I went once, sat at the bar with a friend on a weeknight and had a positive experience.
The Sunday brunch is plentiful and the food is pretty good. I would go back to the Sunday brunch.
We went here as a group of 6 on a Saturday night. We were quoted a 50 minute wait time and ended up waiting an hour and a half. We were told that it was because we were a large party. None of us thought 6 was a large number but such as life.
The food was eh. We got multiple apps that came out fine. They were okay but nothing to write home about. The meals were all just kind off off. The blackened mahi was indelible with spice. The medium burger was so overlooked it was just bad. The server was attentive and kept our beers flowing.
Overall, I will probably give it another try on a week it at the bar.
I would not willingly ever revisit the Tavern in the Square, even if I HADN'T read that one review. The only reason we did was because they said they could get us in when the Cheeseball Factory grouchily farked up our rezzie for a bday gig for a big group. We still had to wait at least a half hour here before they finally sat us, albeit at the last minute. They didn't have the Leinenkugel's that was on the beer list. The fruit flies were abundant. The waiter looked very hungover. The tuna in my salad was way less than fresh, and I couldn't finish it. You might want to turn around and go back to the Cheeseball Factory.
Review Source:Good beer selection, nice atmosphere, big bar, many TVs. Â The food is expensive. Â There was an appetizer of chicken tenders coated in pretzel bits served with honey mustard - for $13?! Â No way. Â Burger and steak tips were good and cooked perfectly. Â We sat at the bar and our server was attentive but miserable. Â We left a 30% tip figuring the staff lost shifts because the place was closed during the blizzard and didn't even get a thank you. Â Not our first choice in Burlington. Â The Porter Sq location is MUCH better.
Review Source:I am a fan of the Tavern in the Square franchise so this review is based exclusively on my two visits to the Burlington location. The first visit I will give four stars and the second I will give 0 which leaves us at an average of 2.
The first time my girlfriend and I went here was for dinner right after this location opened. We ate outdoors and our only complaint was the barrage of mosquitoes attacking us. She got a turkey burger which she said was good. I got the meatloaf which is really good. I highly recommend it. It is served smothered in a very interesting root beer BBQ sauce. Â Our waitress was excellent as well.
Last week, Â my girlfriend and I had dinner elsewhere and came here for a drink. We entered the bar and sat down. Almost immediately, we were ID'd by a female bartender. Her behavior bordered on aggressive and she seemed almost disappointed that I was 26 not 20.
We were undecided on our beverage choice at this point and she said she'd come back - she never did. Then a male bartender came over and asked us what we would like. He also ID'd us. I was not a happy camper at this point and refused to take my ID out of my wallet. I told him I just was ID'd and he could ask her. My reasoning is they're working and it's a service industry; he should go ask her. He eventually did and she said I was of age.
It was like they were attacking us. My girlfriend ordered an apple sangria and I got a beer. I was wearing a Patriots sweatshirt over my sweater and I was wearing dress slacks. I felt like we were treated poorly because I couldn't find my coat in the morning and had a sweatshirt on. The service was abrupt and abrasive which resulted in my being angry.
I think everyone should be treated equally. Â I'm not trying to invoke any class argument or be snobby but I'm not some white trash animal from Billerica. I went to Boston College, both my parents have Master's so wearing a sweatshirt doesn't make me a low-life scumbag. I was irate with the service and left a crummy tip.
So, I went on a playoff night and expected big crowds. Â When we arrived there were four tables available for seating. Three six tops and a two top. Â The two top had no visible tv for the game so that was a no go. Â The other tables were good to go, but here's the kicker, they wouldn't seat us bc we were a party of two and the empty tables sat six. Â I'd been hoping to try this place and now see it is best that I do not. Oh, the manager stood right beside us as they watched us walk out the door. Â Of course my business won't affect them, but your can! Â Odd how all of the ratings for their chain receive low ratings.
Review Source:The WORST veggie burger. Maybe grass tastes better.
Call it a rice pancake burger because I could taste and see just rice in the pattie. I don't write reviews usually but when I do I write because I am either very impressed or utterly disappointed.
I've had veggie burgers in many restaurants and this was worst of all. Even burger king has a better veggie whopper. This was just a rice pancake made to look like a burger and sold as veggie burger.
We went to Tavern in the Square this weekend for a friend's birthday (by the way, the acronym for this place? TITS...). Given that it's a somewhat new chain, I didn't know what to expect, but was impressed with the size of the place (and the number of TVs!), how clean it looked and the holiday decorations.
The basket of bread was very nice and out waitress handled our big party excellently.
When our food came, everyone really liked the presentations. And the taste was delicious - my husband's Chicken Parm was fantastic but my Southwestern Salad did not quite live up to the menu expectations (although I did enjoy it). The lettuce was cold (as if frozen - which, it turns out, it was).
Now, here is why this place has a low rating. And I have to preface by saying I wasn't sure whether I should even write about this in my review, as these reviews can seriously impact a restaurant. However, my husband - who does not Yelp and doesn't always like when I do - said I definitely should.
So, with that being said: as we were all enjoying our food (like, really enjoying it), one of our friends suddenly said "OH MY GOD," spit out his food, threw down his napkin and pushed his chair away from the table.
"Did he find a bug?" we all thought. If only.
No - he found a full, dead mouse sitting in his salad. Yes, you read that right - a MOUSE. I won't go into more detail.
Needless to say, none of us finished our food and our entire meal/drinks were comped (except, for some reason, the waitress' tip. The manager would not give our friend a straight answer about this, but we finally figured out that she would not be getting tipped unless we all did so).
They explained it by saying most of the lettuce comes frozen in a bag (see? I knew it felt frozen!) and that it must have been in there. Is there no quality control?? Do they not look through the lettuce? Did they not FEEL that????
Anyway. Obviously, this place cannot get more than 1 star from me, despite the good service and presentation/taste of the food. I could barely bring myself to sip from my water after this. My friends stayed at the bar after to drink - probably because it was comped. My husband & I just wanted out of there.
and on the 7th day, god gave them NFL rezone.
Was that in leviticus or genesis? I always forget. Anyway..
If you dont have redzone at home you have to come to a place like tavern to catch the games. Every single game is being shown on a tv somewhere in the bar and they seat you according to which games you want to watch. Pretty awesome.
They also have a GREAT all you can eat brunch special, though pretty expensive (18 i think?). Beers are decently priced at 4 or 5 dollars for 24 ounce coors lights.
Overall this place is awesome for watching some games. Now if it just have live directv in each booth with your own remote like the allston tavern had it would be 5 stars.
I am totally not pleased with this place. Now mind you, this had NOTHING to do with the waitress, she was a very nice person who was only doing her job. And she did a very good job.
But here's the deal. My boyfriend has a dairy allergy, no, not lactose intolerant. He will literally stop breathing if he has dairy. When ordering food, he told the waitress this. He wanted to get some burger that they have. The waitress comes back and tells us that the burgers are made with butter IN them. First off, who the hell puts butter IN a burger? I've never heard of such a thing. So that option was out. Then he tried to order the pulled pork sandwich. He couldn't because the sauce had dairy in it. The waitress also told him don't even think about ordering the buffalo chicken because that has dairy in it as well. So he tried to get chicken tenders without any sauce. Nope, can't get that either because they put "a lot of dairy" in it. So, supposedly the batter is just FILLED with dairy. The only thing he could get was 7 options; turkey tips, steak tips, some seafood, I think it was shrimp, the fired roasted vegetables, brown rice, salad, and some lettuce wrap. Now, there's white jasmine rice on the menu and I know for a fact that they just open up a bag of PLAIN, WHITE RICE and put stuff in it, but my boyfriend couldn't get it because of dairy. So what ticked both of us off was that these chefs were not willing to change anything on the menu for him. They didn't need to cook the burger with butter in it and they didn't need to put all the shit in the rice. He's had burgers and white rice at other restaurants, so you really can't say that they came that way. These cooks were just being douches and not wanting to change something on the menu for a person with an allergy. I think that's completely unprofessional. It's a great way to lose customers because now we're never going back here to eat. Ever. Also, if they were good chefs, they would've come out from the kitchen and talked to him themselves. But they had the poor waitress keep going back and forth.
The only reason why I'm giving this place two stars is because of the waitress and the beer. We had no problems there. But, when you're hungry, food is everything. Especially when you're at a... hmmm.. RESTAURANT!
Also, the food. OH. MY. GOD. It was so gross. All I got was the mashed potatoes and brown rice for a side. It was so bland and so dry! I couldn't finish it. Luckily, I ate before I went there. Don't even bother with the food. It's so awful.
Sorry, TITS, you had potential. But your chefs ruined it.
I want to love the brunch here. I've tried it in Allston too, but it's just meh. If you're going to charge $18.99 for an all you can eat brunch, it better be awesome, and this one just isn't. I'd rather pay $12 at Johnny D's and order the amount of delicious food I can eat. The service is just ok and there's really nothing good about the food. The patio at this location is nice, but it's located in an industrial park, which is bizarre if you're used to city living.
Review Source:I went to Tavern in the Square with low expectations from things that I have heard, but  I wanted to give it a fair shot. Bad idea.
I went for Sunday Brunch around noon. Every single item of food I ate was dry and seemed like it had been sitting there for hours, even though brunch ends at 2:30 and it was noon! I don't even know how it was possible for the food to taste so dry and old because they were pretty busy. Â The food definitely had potential to be good if it hadn't been stale and cold.
Also, at a brunch buffet the wait staff doesn't really have to do much. All they have to do is refill drinks and clear plates. For $18.95 and crappy food, I don't think I should have had to ask for a refill on my water...they should have done that themselves.
The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because I would go  back there for drinks because their drink menu seemed decent, and maybe a meal cooked to order could be good. Whatever you do, avoid brunch unless you are going to go when the doors open with hopes of having hot, fresh food!
This is a very liberal 3 stars. The place is very pretty and clean. The ambience is what I was hoping it would be. The menu is quite eclectic- even too eclectic. It has no identity and it's evident in the food. I had the cowboy burger. For a burger with bacon and BBQ sauce it was shockingly bland even though it looked fantastic. My friend got shrimp with pasta and the plate came cold. Not intentionally cold but sitting too long cold. Her shrimp also smelled very fishy. She sent it back and it was promptly taken off the bill but she left feeling uneasy.
The drink selection was interesting and the drinks weren't bad although maybe a little syrupy. For a restaurant surrounded by much nicer restaurants similarly priced they're going to have to do a lot better than that.
Thank you Tavern in the Square! Finally somewhere with a good beer selection and GOOD food! Obviously being from Woburn  I love the 99's but enough is enough I need some beer selection in my life and not one but TWO Cider Beers on draft? Heaven. Thank you again. The strawberry limoncello martini is absolutely delicious and such a treat if you are looking for something a little different.
The nachos were good but pretty basic we got the pulled pork on top. I LOVE the fried pickles. We ended up ordering a second batch because the whole table couldn't get enough. Who knew? I was more excited for my Philly Steak Mac and Cheese. A little adventurous but did not disappoint. Wow. Had enough for lunch the next day (heated up just fine) and then some. I wish this was something I could order all of the time because it was that good. My mom had the Salmon Caesar and I was surprised how light the dressing was because places usually drown salads in caesar and the fish was so fresh tasting.
I have gone back for a pre-season game but have only really drank, except for fried pickles. Guilty. I thought for a new place the service seemed pretty together and organized. Â I cant wait to try brunch.
P.S. for dessert lovers my friend is in love with the fried snickers!!!
We were seated quickly even though the place was packed. Server was attentive. Calamari appetizer came out quick! Â
Blackened Mahi Mahi was nice with sweet potato fries.
Avoid the Thai shrimp with pasta.
I made the mistake of not specifying the appetizer size when I ordered - I didn't know there was an entree of same. The first bite of shrimp was perhaps off-ish(?). I powered through. The asian noodles and sauce seemed watered down and washed out. Â The plate still looked so full she offered to wrap it to go. No thanks.
Environment was loud on a Tuesday night, but would be great for drinks and fried food.
I'd go again.
I've been here 3 times since this place opened and am looking forward to going back again. They have an awesome beer selection with tons of seasonal local beers. They have a great gluten free menu and the waitstaff and managers are all very accommodating with the allergy. Tons of flat screen tvs, but sometimes they are playing random things like 1990 NBA games on NBATV instead of the live Olympic coverage. I guess it was better not to have to watch Ryan Seacrest interview gymnasts while I was eating.
The food is just ok, which probably explains why there are so many mediocre or poor reviews on Yelp. I wasn't expecting culinary brilliance, but I think it can be better than what it is. The fish tacos were poor - flour tortillas falling apart and one bite with pure spice and the next with no flavor. The sesame chicken salad was surprisngly good, though I consumed more sesame seeds in that one meal than I have in my entire life. My wife loved her gluten free sandwich and the pulled pork sliders are pretty tasty as well.
If you're in Burlington and don't want to eat at the mall this is a pretty good option just on the other side of the parking lot.
3.5 out of 5.
Despite the high number of negative reviews, TITS is still really crowded. The atmosphere is nice, the vibe is generally good, and it's easy to find parking in the lot.
TITS has got an ok-ish beer selection and it's open until 1 AM. They've got lots of TVs and could easily make a case to slide into the sportsbar category. Not too many places in Burlington can say that. Everything else on Mall Road is dead after 9 PM.
Food isn't great, just typical American bar food stuff. I had a chicken pasta that was okay, but it filled me up just fine. Service can fluctuate a bit depending on which server you win from the luck of the draw, but it wasn't overly disastrous like a Buffalo Wild Wings.
If they don't it together, they probably won't be around very long.
The server was great, and they have a lot of great beer choices. The atmosphere is also fun and they have a great outdoor patio- however, the food is mediocre at best.
My sister ordered a fish sandwich and she said it was really dry, the fried pickles were ok and the thai pasta was mediocre but really spicy.
When we left, there were four staff at the host station and none said goodbye or have a nice day... (pet peeve).
Go for the beer, skip the food!
WOW, where do I start about Tavern In The Square? My wife and I decided to stop there around 5 this past Saturday and give it a shot after spending some time at the mall. Well, a shot is what they should have given ME! We go in and ask for a table in the dining area, and are quickly seated amongst what had to be 237 televisions. I thought the inside of the place looked pretty cool. So we sat down and Kaitlin, came over to greet us. I had to look on the check after to find out what her name was. My wife ordered some berry martini or something, I don't really pay that much attention sometimes...I ordered a watermelon margarita. Looking to my waitress for some support, I ask her "Lots of guys order these, right?" She smiled that, "no buddy, you're the first" smile, and then said "Oh yeah, all the time." My masculinity took another hit when she asked me if I would like the sugar rim. No thanks!!
So, Kaitlin brings over my wife's berry thing, my son's apple juice, and my super-duper manly, PINK, cocktail, in a nice tall, heavy glass....which she left til last on the try, throwing her balance off and........uh-huh, giving me a nice, watermelon and tequila scented crotch bath. I was SOAKED. She was very apologetic and assisted in helping clean up the mess on the table, although she left my crotch to be cleaned up by myself alone. I explained to her in my previous life I was a waiter and actually spilled 3 drinks all on the same person once. I didn't get too out of shape about the tequila rinse because accidents happen, and she did seem pretty horrified at herself at doing it. I figured management would be over shortly to sign over the deed to the restaurant into my name, but alas, it didn't happen. Now, a few moments before this happened I did say to my wife that it seemed like there seemed to be one manager for every two staff members. So it was my luck that for 15 minutes, none of the 31 managers made it to my table. The one who did, offered to comp my drinks. That was it. I get to go on the rest of my errands for the day, smelling like watermelon tequila.
The waitress, who was admittedly new, and now completely flustered after the spill, neglected to even ask what we'd like to order for our son. My wife ordered the Honey-Bourbon glazed steak tips, and I ordered the Steak Frittes, with the freaky-deaky Worcestershire Vinaigrette on the side. I knew full well that my "frittes" were going to be as swimming in "freaky-deaky" sauce as I was in tequila and watermelon juice. I thought the meat was good. Grilled hanger steak, cooked the way I asked, and they did bring me new fries. My wife thought hers was bad. The glaze had more honey and less bourbon. The vegetables had some kind of Italian seasoning on them which she said was a bad match for the steak.
The manager came back by the table and I asked if it was not company policy to bring steak knives to the table if steak was ordered. I explained that I think Kaitlin was just flustered and it wasn't a big deal. When I had one bite left, he brought them over. I explained that I was pretty much done but his answer was dumbfounding..."Yeah, I can tell you're almost done, but I wanted her to see them at the table" Way to manage dude. How about, I don't know, TELLING her to bring them next time?? You're the manager, worry less about teaching her a lesson about steak knives and more about the guest who was STILL soaking wet.
I understand that a new restaurant and a new waitress may still have some kinks to work out. I for certain wouldn't order either dish again, the next morning's um...side effects, were less than desirable. It's not a money thing, I went out to eat because I can afford to go out to eat, but any time I've ever spilled a drink on someone, or seen it happen, there was NO check at the end of the meal. I just feel like he could have done more as a manager.
I might try this place again in a few months, and assured Kaitlin I would ask for her if I do. She seemed like a nice kid, very green, but a nice kid, and I'd like to see if she eased into her job more. I would however, wear a poncho the next time!!!
Food sucked! I got the meatloaf and it was disgusting!! It more bread crumbs than meat. It had the texture of goose liver pate! My other friend had buffalo mac and cheese and it was dry and lacking cheese! And my other fiend had a burger and told me it was OK. I think the place is nice food is way over priced and crappy. I my give it a go one more time but I may have to be drunk!!
Review Source:Not worth it - unless you're going for beers (on tap).
Went with co-workers during our lunch. Three of us ordered the burgers: "rare-medium", "medium-well", and "well". All three arrived at the table practically bleeding, still cold and so greased up it fell apart each time we bit into them. The fries tasted like cold McDonald's fries.
The place looks nice, BUT:
-it's loud. Probably from being next to a hospital..
-Patio seating isn't shaded enough - you'll bake if it's more than 80F out.
-And finally, watch out for the 10-inch exposed piping with the orange cones. These are absolutely a safety hazard.
Food was a couple notches above edible. We had the fried risotto to start. The sauce was good, but the fried "risotto" was just crunchy balls of rice in the center. The entrees came out a little too quickly, giving the indication that the food is just microwaved. Had the buffalo chicken salad and the chicken was dry as can be, like it had been cooked hours in advance and was barely nuked (borderline cold). My husband had a veggie pizza which he said was mediocre - looked soggy and sad to me. Definitely rushed dinner service (i.e. "eat it and beat it" mentality) and server was very pushy with the drinks. We ordered a beer and a sangria and when we asked for water with dessert, she said, "Sure, would you like another drink as well?" and then kept coming over and asking how we were on drinks. They must know that the drinks are the selling point and certainly not the food. Had a watermelon beer that was fantastic.
Had the fried Snickers for dessert and again it was dry and had to saw through the eggroll wrapping.
We came, we saw, we likely won't be back except for beer:)
Got to check this place out for the pre-opening Friday night. Â It just may be one of the biggest Tavern's they have. Â They have the ONLY suspended bar in MA! Â Its wicked cool. Â Our waiter was super nice and the food was delicious. Â We got the fried risotto app as well as the spinach artichoke dip. Â Both were great starters. Â Ordered the bourbon steak tips for an entree. Â Someone else at the table got the truffle mac and cheese which I had to sample and WOW, yummy! Â They have awesome onion rings, you know the super skinny kind. Â Love those. Â Great beer selection!
