It's been years since I've been to a T.G.I.Fridays and last night just seemed like the perfect time for family take out. Â The menu has changed a bit since I've last been and it seemed that all the changes were for the better. My daughter ordered a Jack Daniel's Burger - anything with Jack in it is SPECIAL!! - and she raved about it. She is still yapping about it today. Hubby got a Jack steak with garlic mashed and ginger slaw. Freaking fantastic! The steak was a perfect rare and the spuds were real. The slaw needed a little help. My order, well, I just plain screwed up.
I am a pasta freak. I ordered the Bruschetta Chicken Pasta dish. Looked nice in the photo however absolutely sucked in real time. The chicken was dry and had I known then what I know now, I should have used it to sop up the grease from the bottom of the take out container. The pasta and it's mixers just sucked. Greasy and tasteless, kinda like some people I know.
I know all the food is pre-fab to maintain consistency however how difficult is it to get a simple sauce right?
If you are thinking of TGIF's tonite, think steak or those lovely Long Island Iced Teas that I consumed oh so many years ago. Stay away from any pasta dish and you shall be happy!
Stumbled onto this TGI Fridays while waiting to get some work done on my car. It was a blizzardy Friday afternoon and the place was pretty quiet. I was still met by a handful of friendly staff when I walked in, and they made sure I was seated in the bar, not just the usual, "Oh, go find yourself a spot..." that I've gotten in other restaurants.
The lounge is big and open. Lots of TVs, lots of stock for drinks, and quite a few beers on tap. I took a chance on a Boston Lager and it ended up being delicious.
I started with a White Cheese Nacho Queso Skillet to start with...it was tasty, very strong with the taco seasoning...but be warned, it's just a plate of melted cheese, I couldn't finish it :) (for only $6, I didn't feel too bad)
Lunch was the Jack Daniels burger and sweet potato fries. The burger came with a honey bourbon sauce that was perfect with the fries. And after the rest went onto the burger, it was excellent. Awesome buns, tasty patty, extra crispy (which I can never get enough of). All in all, I was pretty satisfied.
The service was excellent, friendly, quick, right from beginning to end. I know it's "just" a TGI Fridays, but it was good enough to make me go out of my way to write this review.
[The music was worth noting too...Nirvana, Weezer, and Doctor my Eyes by Jackson Browne which ALMOST made me bump it to 5 stars all on its own.]
