I went to Three Sisters on 3-08-13 and found them out of business. So sad.

I went here in hopes of stocking up with Russian food like blintzes, Russian salads, cakes, candies, and pickles. As it turns out, this place is tiny and so is the selection. One of their cases was almost entirely empty, and they had only a small stock of pre-made food -- for example, I could only buy one package of blintzes. (I think perhaps you can order more in advance, as there was a sign up in Russian with a long list of items, and several women were cooking in the back.)
After standing around awkwardly for several minutes I was able to get the attention of one of the women at the counter. I asked if they had any of those big Kiev Bakery cakes, since they had a poster advertising them, but they didn't. They just had around three cakes in the case. I asked for one without nuts (due to allergy concerns), and she took out a cake that was sprinkled with walnuts. I gave her a look, and she said, "What? There's only nuts on the top."
I ended up buying a jar of pickles, two slices of cake, 1.5 pounds of candy, and a package of blintzes for $26, which I think was far too much.
Then, as I was walking out of the deli, I noticed that there was a grocery store right next door. I wondered if it stocked any Russian food, so out of curiosity I went in. Lo and behold: they had the EXACT same brands as the deli, only cheaper, and a MUCH larger selection of everything. There was literally no point in me having gone to the deli at all, and I felt like an idiot for buying anything from them.
In short: with the Argo Bakery down the block and a grocery store that sells same items for cheaper literally right next door, there is really NO reason to shop here. However, it might be convenient to order something in advance -- if you speak Russian.

(By the way: when I got home, the pickles had a ring of someone unknown substance under the lid that caused it to be jammed shut. We finally opened them after five minutes of prying, and the pickles inside tasted rotten. It wasn't even past its expiration date.)

A small deli a few doors down from the Argo,, decent amount of grocery items, sprats, pickled things, drinks etc.  Meat counter with my beloved salo.  We ran in to grab some honey cake to go with our hachiburi from the Argo.  Brusque fabulous lady behind the counter, russian patrons in sunglasses, because 16 degrees is a hot summer day right.  The cake was to die for, like honey and tore mille all in one, she had tried to cut a larger piece but we declined.  Damn what a mistake.  Another $2.73 well spent.
