I first got a glimpse of Timber Grille when it was a last-minute addition to the Taste of Nashua '08 and stole the show with their mini-pulled pork sliders. I spoke with the owner and he told me where they were going to open and that it should be October. I drove by that location for two years until it finally opened. That's how good those sliders were. Everyone was outside on the deck when I went in and the bartender was shocked/a little disappointed that I sat at the bar. They hadn't had their "grand opening" but were going to be open for a while before they celebrated a grand opening. (I don't know if that ever happened.)

I tried a hamburger and fries with a drink. The drink was well mixed. The burger was acceptable. The fries were good. What I remember most from the experience is that everyone kept looking at me like I didn't belong. I thought perhaps it was because they hadn't officially opened, so I gave it some time and went back later in hopes that an unknown customer might be so shocking. Every time I've gone, I stop at the door and choose to go somewhere else. I always see the same barflies at the bar staring at me like they don't want people coming in and spoiling their bar. It's almost like the restaurant was built for a dozen or so people to sit and drink.

I remember well that experience at Taste of Nashua and how enthusiastic the owner was. What they've created, though, seems like a very insular clientele where newcomers are not welcome. I'd love to give them another try, but I end up going places where they great me with a smile rather than a frustrated glower.

I never saw the 16 inch knife at the bar but I had a great time. Down to earth people and stiff drinks. Why go anywhere else?

Super yummy food! Good music. Staff was super friendly. Saw a funny review about how the manager walks around with a 16" knife. So we teased him about. He was hilarious. All in all a great time.

Get the roast beed and bleu cheese sandwhich!!!
