I first got a glimpse of Timber Grille when it was a last-minute addition to the Taste of Nashua '08 and stole the show with their mini-pulled pork sliders. I spoke with the owner and he told me where they were going to open and that it should be October. I drove by that location for two years until it finally opened. That's how good those sliders were. Everyone was outside on the deck when I went in and the bartender was shocked/a little disappointed that I sat at the bar. They hadn't had their "grand opening" but were going to be open for a while before they celebrated a grand opening. (I don't know if that ever happened.)
I tried a hamburger and fries with a drink. The drink was well mixed. The burger was acceptable. The fries were good. What I remember most from the experience is that everyone kept looking at me like I didn't belong. I thought perhaps it was because they hadn't officially opened, so I gave it some time and went back later in hopes that an unknown customer might be so shocking. Every time I've gone, I stop at the door and choose to go somewhere else. I always see the same barflies at the bar staring at me like they don't want people coming in and spoiling their bar. It's almost like the restaurant was built for a dozen or so people to sit and drink.
I remember well that experience at Taste of Nashua and how enthusiastic the owner was. What they've created, though, seems like a very insular clientele where newcomers are not welcome. I'd love to give them another try, but I end up going places where they great me with a smile rather than a frustrated glower.
Great place to grab dinner at. Â I found this place via "best of NH awards". Â They are definitely award deserving American home style cooking. Â Reminds me of an upscale tbones, if that makes any sense. Â The food is amazing and I knew it would be right. Â Just by the fact that I was so torn between two different meals on the menu. Â The atmosphere is great and cozy. Â I'm a scotch fan and noticed the Johnnie blue label on the shelf. Â One of cheapest places in town for a glass of that scotch. Â Good time. Â I will be back.
Review Source:REVIEW #1 - We went here this weekend to see if we can add a new bar to our typical pub crawl in Downtown.
Without a doubt, I will be adding this as a stop whenever I go out in downtown Nashua. Great prices on food and drinks.
I do have to say it was very slow when we came in. Its still seems like they are working out the kinks, but hopefully this bar is around for a while.
The back deck was huge, and was a great place to bring some drinks and enjoy the weather.
I did notice that they had a outdoor heater. Hopefully they add few more, it would be nice to have a few drinks outside during the fall.
REVIEW #2 - We came in again a few weeks back and again this place is very slow. I am starting to notice a pattern here. Instead of a quiet little place away from downtown, it starting to seem a little bit of a depressing almost uncomfortable. The back deck was kind of a mess. Hopefully this improves, as I love the prices, and the potential bar it may become.
I went here Friday because the reviews were so glowing about this place. Â Being a southerner, I was especially looking forward to the fried pickles! Â :) Â Basically, I don't get what the big deal is about. Â First, we walked in and the bartender was less than friendly, and not very talkative at all. Â It is a narrow bar. Â That's it. Â No seating other than at the bar unless you want to sit on the deck. Â The deck has potential, but someone's old BBQ grill was sitting out back. Â And there was no service on the deck that night...Friday night! Â You had to order at the bar, and then walk it out. Â And by the way, the deck view is of the road! Â Not all that exciting!
The best part...when I asked for sauce for the pickles, she handed me an huge opened bottle of Hidden Valley Ranch that must've been from CostCo. Â WTF? Â Can't even squirt it in the kitchen into a little rameken! Â The pickles were actually pretty good...the only reason I didn't give 1 star. Â A little heavy on the batter, but overall very tasty. I MIGHT go back just for the pickles...and that is a big MIGHT.
I think I'll stick to my favorite place, Fody's! Â Better food, fun staff, and live music on Friday's. Â We managed to salvage the evening by heading to Fody's, and having a great time!
One of the best bars/pubs in Nashua. Â Excellent service and strong well-priced drinks.
The location is excellent and there's a huge deck in back that gives a great view of the Nashua skyline. Â I predict this to be a future hotspot in Nashua due to the locale and deck.
I haven't eaten here yet though.
Timmberrrr!!!
I can recall enjoying some really good mini pulled pork sliders from the "future" Timber Grille at the Taste of Nashua in 2008. I kept wondering, when The Timber Grille was going to open for business with almost two years passing by. Some great news is that The Timber Grille finally opened two months ago in the former Seven Hills Restaurant (Turkish cuisine).
I decided to stop in here on a quiet sunny Saturday afternoon to grab something to eat.
I entered the place on the main upper street level (Factory Street), which houses the cozy bar area with two flatscreen TVs showing ESPN. The place was redone with a shiny oak bar and exposed brick walls. The door to the downstairs level is still in the same place as before. The downstairs portion houses the kitchen and regular dining room with tables and booths. I was greeted by the bartender (Trinity) and took a seat at the bar to chill out from the heat outside. The customer traffic was very light in the early afternoon, but I was told the bar gets busy on late nights.
The bar is fully stocked and there are 8 beers on tap including Sam Adams and Harpoon IPA. The bar menu is very simple, a few appetizers, chili & chips, burgers, and sandwiches. The prices for the bar food are pretty reasonable, under $10 each.
I knew exactly what I wanted. I started out with a Diet Coke ($2)- I rarely drink during the day. For food, I ordered the Sloppy Jim ($7.95), which was a BBQ pulled pork sandwich with healthy slaw on a soft roll and served with fries and a fried pickle. The food was prepared downstairs, of course, and brought up to me in about 10 minutes after I ordered. The food was very good. The pork was very tasty with very tender and juicy pork with minimal fat in a tangy BBQ sauce and the slaw on top was light tasting. This is the taste I've been craving for almost two years! The battered fries were very crispy and seasoned. The fried pickle had a nice crispy coating and it's something I'd definitely order as an appetizer on my next visit. The service was very cordial and I was offered refills on the soda, even after I finished my food and received the check.
Next time, I'll have to try the regular menu downstairs and order some fried pickles too!. Yummy!!
