The Toad in the Hole is a great little Hole!  Plesant bartender, excellent pub food, particularly the fish and chips, an great selection of craft beers, live entertainment on weekends and an excellent open mic on Mondays!  Well worth dropping by.

Love this little place. Great beer on tap, and a super laid back atmosphere. The food is actually really good for such a little bar. Plus they have Moonlight Death and Taxes (my favorite) on tap!

    The British bartender is awesome!

This pub definitely knows how to do their Fish N Chips right! They also have great Pasty's all week long and provide great service.. Being that they only serve beer and wine, it keeps all of the "Adios" and "4 loco" drinkers out! If you're interested in different beer's they have great selections every week from different breweries all around California. Most definitely recommend this pub to any beer lovers

LOVED the atmosphere...it was the perfect way to wind down my day...
The service was stellar and attentive and the food was even better!
The fish and chips were fresh and yummy, the curry fries were awesome and the little pasties were intriguing...Great selection of beer and an added bonus was that the World Cup Qualifier between the US and Mexico was on and it made for a perfect night...

Great beer selection. The bartenders are cheerful and attentive. Great place to watch soccer or cricket match. Also a great place to catch any major sporting event. They had a big screen projection of the Superbowl this past Sunday.

The burger is super fine. The fries are yummy.

Try something new. You'll probably love the beef pasty. They offer mayo for your fries and there is malt vinegar on every table for your fish and chips.

Try their garlic fries, but only if you don't plan on kissing anyone for the rest of the day. Best garlic fries in the North Bay!

If you've got any British Nationalism in your blood, you'll probably be right at home at the Toad.

Stopped in here last Sunday night with some friends - it was busy but there were a couple seats at the bar. I'm a wine guy but went beer this time and they have an exceptional selection of ales here. Really impressed - rich layers complex beers. I tried a few of them - Spreckled Hen on nitrous was my favorite ~ kind of like Boddingtons.

They had this amazing band in there - a woman singing, I forget the name but her voice was incredible - better than radio quality - just pure soulful sounds - it made the perfect evening.

Warm, dim, fragrant, good beer selection. This is what SLOCO Pasty should be!

Delicious cornish and veggie pasty, and sausage rolls and actual British beer (Meantime, baby, yeah!), not stuff that barely passes. And their list rotates.

    One of my new favorites.

This is a great pub with interesting beers to taste.  The bartender actually got me to try Allagash Black...I am (generally) a wheat beer kinda gal...Well, not anymore!
We tried this place for St. Patricks Day - probably not a wise choice!  It was super busy and the wait staff was just that - kept you waiting!  The food was OK - but I think it would be better on not such a busy day.  We will be back!!

I love the Toad!! All the bartenders are super friendly and happy. (not like other bars in close proximity that i will not mention)  I enjoy the low key atmosphere, live music and seeing familiar faces. Unfortunately I didn't get to try their infamous fish and chips that I hear are phenomenal. The toad is fun if you are in the mood for a nice cold beer, good convo, dancing and/or watching sports. They have live mic night too which can be fun... for a little while anyway. This place is awesome and the guys that work there are too!

Toad in the Hole is about as great a pub as you can find in this part of the Country.  A great beer selection that changes periodically, Really good fish and chips (especially the crisp chips), Amazing Shepards Pie, and, most importantly, a barman who speaks with a real brogue.  It's small; we literally got the last two seats last night as all the tables were full.  It can be loud as it is a small space with a lot of people.  But everyone there seems to be happy to be there and enjoying themselves.  Thanks to the Irish for exporting this pub to us.

Hands down the best fish and chips in Sonoma County and some of the best I've had period! Great slection of beers on tap and I've always had great experiences whether at the bar, at a table or grabbing take-out. A great local pub. One downside, is that it is small (and usually pretty busy) so you might find yourself waiting for a table or seat at the bar!
A great place to watch a game or catch some live music on the weekend.

A few years ago, I went to Cornwall (the southwest coast of England) where the pasty was born. It was my treat after an afternoon of swimming in the chilly 55 degree ocean for a few hours while on vacation. In my wetsuit, a pasty the size of a small calzone was the perfect meal. I was able to recreate that memory at Toad in the Hole Pub with their smaller, taco-sized pasty in a much more comfortable environment. It was piping hot and filled with soft vegetables and potatoes.

The fish and chips were solid (not quite as great as Cornwall's, but close) and my dining companion's burger was also very decent. I enjoyed the English-y beer selection and the very laid back staff rounded out the vibe of this place.

A very pleasant surprise. I had a craving for Fish N' Chips. I was originally going to go to Bettys but they close way too early. I found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try.

When you walk in you feel like you're in England. Although I don't drink they had a vast array of ales, ciders and wine. My wife ordered the bangers and mash which was incredible. I ordered the fish n chips which were phenomenal! The chips are hand cut potatoes fried to perfection. The fish is flash frozen cod but still tasted incredibly fresh and is nice and flacky. All in all my go 2 spot for fish n chips. You can also order food until 10 pm.

SOOOO mad that I hadn't tried this place a LONG time ago.

I'm sure I will be back to give it 5 stars... but my experience was very limited since I was only there for a short lunch. But in that time... I had amazing fish & chips, fish AND chips... both were GREAT. And it's hard for me to find a place that does them well. My black & tan was also extremely black (& tan). And the service was almost invasively friendly. And I just love the layout and feel of this place... I really wish it was closer to my house. And it feels like a real pub in the UK. None of the pubs in the city do that for me (not prentending I've been to all of them)...

Love it. Actually... screw it. I'm giving 5 stars. If I have to go back to 4, I will... at least it will confuse my readers until they get to this part. Location is great, food is great, it's a great place to drink, service is great... like... what am I supposed to ding them for? It's not the best place I've ever been. But oh man... I'll be back.

Great little pub with a neighborhood feel.  For a place it's size, it has a good and varied selection of beers, with regularly rotating specials both local and from far afield.  There's always a rotating selection on cask, as well.

The food menu features English traditions, with a lowkey presentation.  The quality is as good as any pub food gets.

Staff are friendly and will tend to remember you on a repeat visit.

This is my favorite pub in the area (if that's what you're looking for)!  They have a very small wine list with some quality wines.  There's much more of a selection of beer, which is typical for a pub.  We wine drinkers aren't so stoked on pubs sometimes.

The setting is dark with lots of windows and TVs, so I've known people to go watch sports games at the bar.  The bar is great.  I feel that the service is much better there than at the tables.

The brussels sprouts are amazing when they're in season.  So, if you're in the mood for pub food and beer, they've got you covered!

As a girl, bars are an iffy situation. However, there are a few beacons of light out there, and I aim to Yelp them the minute I find them.

You know you've found a good pub when you go to one for a drink with a friend, only to be zeroed-in on by some crazy man trying to woo you with his great insight into women's emotional issues as it pertains to their earrings, who also believes that his family 'invented' emancipation ("In 1853! I'm so serious!") and suffrage ("It's MY great grandfather that gave YOU the right to vote!")--  and in the middle of this haze of albatross-like unwarranted attention, you look up at the bar and Buzz gives you that look: "Do you need me to boot this character? Because I will totally kick his ass out", and it's all okay: Buzz doesn't need to, because you know you are safe.

I dig this place for its laid-back atmosphere. It's a little pricey, but nothing unusual for a downtown spot. Paul, the owner, is accommodating and helpful, and very nice. They feature music events of all kinds, including a Gong Show hosted by locals; an open mic; a sing/act along Monty Python day; and numerous bands.

PLEASE NOTE: Yelp won't let me pick ALL nights as best nights to go; but they all ARE.

TIP: If you are hungry and not too keen on spending tons of cash, I recommend getting the pasty taster plate. One veggie and one meat stuffed mini pocket, with dipping sauces, piping hot straight out of the oven. So delicious! Not to mention their chips: thick cut, tender-center/crispy-outside fries, the way fries should be. And of course: A great selection of local and imported beers, and a modest selection of local wines.

WARNING: During futball season expect to be plowed into by one or more very kind and very drunk Brits and wanna-be Brits wearing jerseys and red faces. But it's not all bad: A night of excellent debauchery is probably in store if you have the energy for it.

Good food with a good selection of quality beers & wine. Could benefit from a larger menu, but unsure they could keep quality as high with additions.

Nitpicking here, but they could do a better job of the soundproofing on the ceiling. It's sorta ugly.

    Often busy, but not packed.
My choice in town to watch a soccer game.

British styled pub.  Ever notice how most people only talk with a tone a bit louder than a whisper.  You wouldn't guess that people could watch sports on the tube in here.  Maybe it's livelier during a game (?)

Didn't love the feeling while having a beer, the atmosphere in here seemed so cold and distant.  Though the place is a nicer bar than most, kind of place you could enjoy a good fish and chips with a date or significant other.  No entrance greet or personality from the bartender or any other staff which walked past.  Lots of stares from their regulars.  I should've passed gas before leaving, so at least someone would have known I was there, but that would've been too loud for their likes.

Moonlight brewing has Death and Taxes available on tap, so that has been a bookmark I've been trying to work towards checking off.  I'd forgotten that Flavor bistro also has this beer on tap as well.

A drawn picture of Bob Marley hangs very high up on a wall opposite of the bar.  I find it and the placement so very random especially in here.  Bob was a part British, right.

A good little brit-style pub in the heart of old town Santa Rosa. Great beer selection, and it would be worthy to stop by for their curry fries alone. The waitress suggested them to us, and we couldn't resist. Let me just say....ALL fries should be these specific curry fries. The fries themselves are curry flavored; no sauce required. They are flat out incredible!

I like this place for a chill spot to catch up on conversation with friends. It's also a good kick off or ending spot for a SR pub crawl, or a downtown dinner date.

Its been 2 yrs since I reviewed this place.  Went there Saturday, sat and practically froze to death...I asked the server if  there was a warmer spot in the pub and she said snippily:  IM NOT COLD!  Of course the ppl at the next table were freezing too.  she did turn the fans off but not the AC.  So much for that... The fish and chips were good as ever but honestly, the place is VERY uncomfortable (wooden benches with a protruding shelf behind that hits just below the shoulder blades)..  After eating, I became the invisible diner and finally had to wave both hands to get the server's attention.  she had walked past me 3 times without noticing that I had the "wheres my fricken check" look.  I wont be returning...a restaurant needs more than decent fried fish and great beer for me.  ur off my list.

By the way...one piece of fish is $8 and a short poor beer is $4.50...not worthy.

Went for Superbowl on Sunday. The place was pretty empty and continued to empty out further as the Packers kept scoring. I assume the people there were mostly Steelers fans?

We decided to just stop in for a beer or two and a snack and catch a bit of the game. A couple of the beers we tried to order from the menu weren't available, but the ones we ended up with were good. Beer was good, fries were awesome. The waitress was nice, but really slow. My beer-drinking partner asked me if I thought she was on sedatives.

Solid place and if the fries were any indication, I imagine the food's good. The fries did taste a little "fishy", but I'd almost expect that in a place where the fryer is primarily used for fish and chips.

Great, laid back little British-style pub. Awesome burgers! Awesome fish and chips!

Not the best beer selection but pretty damn good. Atmosphere and food makes up any short comings.

My favorite neighborhood place to have a beer.
It's living room small but that is a good thing when compared to the likes of the Russian River Brew Co. which is big, loud and crowded.
Cool bands, DJ's and other shenanigans also happen here on a frequent basis.

Came here after the hand car regatta. The place was buzzing and the bartenders did a great job keeping control.

I was really impressed with their beer selection. Some classic British beers and Moonlight IPA! You really don't find it that often. Great pub feel.

The seating is find of awkward, but works on busy nights. Live music was great. We saw Brothers Horse which was amazing.

I would defiantly come here again. It really had a nice feel.

This is a legit pub, as opposed to the absolute joke that is Stout Bros. Excellent beer choices, despite the lack of liquor, which although being a required part of any guys pub night, is forgiven due the proximity of the Last Day where I can pop in for a snort of whiskey.

4 stars for being a good place without liquor, and an extra star for being welcoming and willing to host music events that aren't popular enough for the crap bars in SR.

Today, I had a chance to eat the food.

I ordered a burger, my friend ordered the pasty.

The burger was good, really thick, and the bun was very good, like ciabatta bread.

The pasty was good, fresh, and they had brussels sprouts as the side.

Well, let give some crayola I l have be to London twice and I enjoyed it.

The owner is a pure genlemen.
Cheers to this spot. respecto mucho

Went here for 2nd anniversary party (of the place, not my marriage), and totally dug it.  The right size, good crowd, nice-looking joint, good variety of beer, clean bathrooms.  Just right.

I understand the food's good - will come back to investigate!

Mid road trip, stopped by for a beer on a whim, and could not be happier about it! They had Moonlight Brewing Bombay by Boat IPA on cask... DELICIOUS. The selection of beer on draft was not terribly massive, but none the less impressive. I will definitely have to visit again the next time I'm up in Santa Rosa.

I really need to find more places close to home that regularly have cask beer!

Great fish and chips. And absolutely awesome beer selection, with zero yuppie bullshit to go with it.

If you aren't hungry, then just have a couple of beers anyway.

The owners and folks that work for them have done a really good job of giving some good tone to the building and neighborhood.

Let me first start by saying I am not usually a pub person.  I don't drink that much and I usually find pub fare to be greasy, heavy and really only a side for the beverages.  Toad in the Hole, however, was not that at all.

It felt more like a wine bar - poured cement bar, nice atmosphere and really decent food.  I had the ploughman's lunch which featured a really fresh salad, cheese, two types of chutney and toasted bread.  It was a really good late lunch kind of a meal.  Two of my business partners had the fish and chips and they also looked really good - nice big fried.

Plus if you are into beer they had some great varieties on tap like Scrimshaw.  The girl behind the counter, Naomi was great.  Really friendly and warm and made us feel welcome.  She even let us sample some really strange bitter beer from New Belgium.  While I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, it was a fun experience.

I would recommend this place next time you are looking for a casual lunch or dinner in the railroad square area.

An English style pub. Fish & chips are okay, not fantastic.  Compared to stalwart Betty's Fish & Chips located slightly out of town?  Well maybe a little crunchier deep fried batter here at the Toad, but equal quality to Betty's.

Cornish pastie was a bit too bland and soggy tasting.  Mushy peas were very starchy and cold - not very good.

Beer & wine selection is small but focused on good values.  Prices are fair.

People who own and operate are friendly, courteous and helpful.  Likeable blokes.

I'll come back on music performance nights to knock back a few brews - not for the food.

I've been here twice now and would definitely say I'm a fan. Leery of the usual and very often mediocre pub food you come to expect in your standard bar & grill establishment, I was coaxed by my friend who works in the neighborhood to give Toad in the Hole a try.

As a vegetarian, I'm even more suspicious of pubs who usually offer maybe a baked potato or a garden salad for me while everyone else goes to town on giant burgers and/or fish & chips.
Well, they do have fish n' chips at Toad and apparently they're fantastic. I have to admit they did look pretty good. But better yet, their curry veggie pastie is also no bland baked potato- it's fantastic! I've had it twice now, first time with their famous green beans as a side (so delish!) and yesterday with a side salad (also equally yummy).
At around  $9, their pasties will fill you up for hours yet still leave you just enough room to sample some of their amazing brews on tap or one of their fabulously priced local wines (I always go with the Roshambo sauvignon blanc- at $7 a glass it's quite a deal and is refreshingly light!).

The ambiance is classic British pub with a mod twist and is relaxed and comfortable without your usual college jock/meathead brothers that can often be found down the street at the ever popular AleWorks (no offense AleWorks, but it's true). Which brings me to the service which is always excellent. Both times I've been there's only  been one waitress running the whole show and she manages just fine making sure everyone has everything they need including full glasses at all times.

Definitely a great addition to the Santa Rosa night life scene, I'm sure to be back in the near future!
