This place is right across from my apartment and I couldn't ask for a better window view.   The building is unique, especially for DC, and there's always some action out front.  The hourly rate and beer prices are decent, and the vibe (though a little grimy) is good.  In fact, besides the movie theatre, it's one of the only "things-to-do" in Daly City.  It's a reminder of a bygone era and I hope it never leaves, so If you want to shoot pool check this place out.  And if you want to shoot some serious pool, defiteliy check it out because there's a lot of serious hustlers straight from Manilla just waiting for you.    Oh yea, the Jukebox is good too.

People seemed to be more worried about the bathroom and the way this place looks rather than how their experience playing pool was.

Despite how it may look inside, or how the bathrooms are it's a great place to go with friends to enjoy pool. It's opened pretty late and it can get pretty busy during weekends. I find the rates to be reasonable, and the employees there are really nice. (Which is a plus!) They also have snacks and drinks here, but don't expect a full course meal.

Overall, if you brush off how the bathrooms are, the interior (Which isn't a big deal for me), and how it may seem like it's in a dead area, it's definitely a great place to go pool and have a fun time with friends.

Not really sure about this place.  the pool tables looks pretty run down, but the workers seemed pretty nice.  Me and a buddy played for about 2 hours and had a couple beers.  Only 1 TV, so it was kinda hard to watch the football game.Probably try a different pool hall next time, rarely in the area.

Fun nite celebrating a friend's bday. (Happy Birthday DTP). Pool, good music, drinks and snacks, what's not there to love??..

.. well the cashier lady forgot my noodle bowl (noodles were super soggy and my soup dried up) but I forgive you bc she apologized and it was super busy tonite.
..Bathrooms need brighter light! It's way too dark in there.. with the bright red love seat and condom machine; bathrooms need some remodeling.

Just started coming to Town and Country since I moved into the area a few months ago.  They have some light snacks, happy hour specials, and a variety of drinks.  All pretty standard affair for a pool hall.

Great staff and very welcoming.  All in all if you are looking for a place to play pool this place is great.

The interior does look a bit intimidating, especially at night when all you see is a somewhat dark, high-ceiling hall with lots of large people drinking beer, and carrying large sticks. However, once you get yourself a table and into a game with some friends, you are in your own world. Things are relatively well maintained, and sufficient. It kind of looks like the streets, with walls.

Good cheap place to play pool by the hour. To think that I used to use the coin operated tables at Serra Bowl.

IT'S CONVENIENT AND CLOSE TO HOME
    (2 stars)

Lots of available tables, easy parking, many crooked pool sticks, AND A DIRTY USED CONDOM ON THE SEAT... couldn't people do their business at home?! NASTY. Other than that, it's a chill spot and everybody there is cool. AInt nobody trying to hustle out.

That's all I have to say! haha.

For any yelpers who gave this place 3 stars or higher, you have to be extremely delirious and delusional. It would be very easy for me to give this place one star, but considering how good the customer service is, I had to reconsider. In a nutshell, this place is not clean and hygenic at all. The bathrooms are so horrendous that public health should shut down the business. Furthermore, the table that I was playing on had tobacco spat on the sides and one of the side pockets contained an unfinished can of Kerns. If this place wants a good reputation of being a good pool hall like The Great Entertainer, the employees should consider maintaining the tables, in addition to maintaining the whole place.

Been coming here since back in the high school days. This place was one of the few that we were able to go to for pool. The place was hard to find parking and was very unclean even back then.

After not going for years, nothing has changed. They have the same tables, cues, and cloth.

It's a bit run down. But the employees here are really nice.

This place is a bit dirty, run-down and scary. The rates are cheap though.

I've chatted with employees and management a few times, and they're quite nice. They want to upgrade the place and fix their equipment, but they don't have the funds to do so and are not willing to invest anything before they have more cash on hand.

So nothing gets fixed, the clientele doesn't improve, and the cycle of degredation continues.

There isn't much parking for Town & Country specifically, and I wouldn't recommend the dark side street next to it. I've parked in one of the few spaces out front before, but usually you end up having to just park in the Walgreens lot across the street.

I bring my own cue, so I haven't paid much attention to the quality of the cues they have there. The tables themselves have uneven surfaces and torn felt. Even after the gal at the front desk clued me in to which tables are the "newest" (she told me that none are actually new) and in the best shape, I still found them below acceptable.

Each experience I've had at this place has been odd and slightly disturbing in its own way. Here are a few examples.

    1) A Saturday afternoon. Mostly quiet but for a few tables. A couple people started arguing violently. I looked up and could tell that they were arguing about a shot and accusing one another of cheating, both sides passionate because they'd wagered money on the game. I must have looked concerned, because the proprietor came over to tell me to not worry, that they were harmless, and then told the guys to chill out because they were scaring his customers.

    2) A Tuesday evening. Ladies Night on Tuesdays can be a bit better, because there are groups of girls which makes the place feel a bit livelier. For some reason though, it doesn't feel any friendlier. The ever-present loiterers in the front doorway come out in force. One Tuesday, there was a creepy person walking about watching games. The management told the guy that he couldn't just hang out without being a customer. So the guy bought a drink and continued his creepy staring at people.

    3) A weekday evening. An argument broke out at a table nearby. One party got so angry, he stormed out. The other guy came over and asked me to play with him because his friend was gone. He persisted despite the fact that I kept insisting that my husband was meeting me soon.

The arguments that break out in this place seem to be commonplace (I've witnessed three in about six visits to the place).

Not a comfortable place to practice pool, or even just to hang out. +1 star for the staff being pretty cool. Otherwise, this place is really quite icky, in all respects.

a decent pool hall with kinda scary looking and pot smelling bathrooms. The rates are listed in one of the photos. I believe the rate we got was $18/hr. Some of the sticks are kinda broken but they do have full sizes tables and balls. They also have "helper sticks" located underneath each table. They also have a music machine. The location is kinda shady especially at night as the parking areas around the place are not well lit.

Bottomline: a decent pool hall place but kinda scary at night.

Remember the scene in The Hustler where Fast Eddie (Paul Newman) first walks into Ames poolhall?  When he asked if there was a bar, he was told, "No bar, no pinball machines, no bowling alleys...just pool, nothing else...this is Ames, mister."

Okay, let there be no doubt that this is far from the cleanest or fanciest poolhall I've ever been to.  However, for me, it is one of the most sincere around.  It is the last of the true poolhalls in SF.  It is not trendy or see and be seen.  It can even seem a little seedy or dangerous at times (it really isn't), but the prices are reasonable and tables/cues are decent...it's all about the pool.  They do appear to have alcohol too although after several visits, I haven't had any here yet, most likely because it appears to be just beer and wine.

Great place to shoot some pool and be left alone.  Easy free parking and one of the scariest looking bathrooms I've ever seen (the first time you go to the bathroom, you'll actually wonder if you'll make it back out alive), but hey, that just adds to the appeal.  This place is not for everyone, but cool in it's own way.  Definitely not a place for poseurs.  It works for me...this is Ames, mister.

people say that this place is a hole in a wall, well buddy aren't mom and pop shops too, but now we thrive on it? For me T&C is home. its more of the history of the place that gives it character, I think the owner is a dad/son that runs it and even help out teens to stay out of trouble by shooting some harmless pool. There are poker nights, and ladies night is tues (bogo deal). I like this place because its cheap, spacious, and I've been coming here since 5 years ago. They have blue moon (plus up!) and touch screen jukebox. The only thing eerie is the womens bathroom that has no locks on the stall, and has a mini hallway with a red light and the grudge mirror. I had many memorable nights here and the more you go, the more homey it'll be, i promise ya.

Tip: also if your a lady, the worker usually give ya a discount so twerk it ;)

I'm not a usual yelper, but my experience at Town and Country was so poor that I just had to open an account and let everyone in this world know that this place sucks!!!! My friends and I decided to check out this place one night. And I have to admit this place was GHETTO!!! The tables are crappy and the service is TERRIBLE!!! The big short haired girl that works there thinks she's all that! I usually don't play pool but this fat girl just ruined my night. If you want to have good service and get your moneys worth DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT COME TO TOWN AND COUNTRY!!! Their table sucks and their service stinks!!!

Not the cleanest Pool Hall I've been to, but who expects local pool halls to be clean? It's Daly City, so there were a few Filipino uncles (obviously regulars) hanging out, playing pool, playing cards, just chilling on a Saturday afternoon.

My friend and I were able to squeeze a few games into the little less than an hour we were there. They charged us something like $10.20. Nice big spot, plenty of tables and pretty empty on a Saturday afternoon. There was an LCD TV in the middle of the place on ESPN probably. Obviously not ideal if you come to watch. But who comes to watch TV at a pool hall?

Meh, I went here with a few friends. I've never played pool before so it was fun while I struggled. Hah. I'm sure that there are better pool halls but we so happened to come to this one. This place looks like it's been here for years, yet not too many people come here. Everything looks like it's falling apart, and all the furniture is mixed. So there's no actual decor to find here, unless you like the feeling of old things. The only good thing about this place is that it's cheap. And with cheap, you deal with things falling apart type of atmosphere. Deal with it. You get what you pay for.

I'm sure this place is old, my dad said he played pool here before with his buddies back in his mid 20's. I'm turning 20 this year, so that says a lot. Haha.

Will I ever come back? Possibly. I'm not old enough just yet to go to the pool halls that serve alcohol beverages. So I guess I have to settle for what's out there.

Aha...this place brings back a ton of memories:

Good, Bad, Ugly, Fun, Sad, Hectic, Drunk, Drunker and Tow Up.

As you can probably tell, I spent many a moons here as it was our local hang-out joint. Heck...back then, it was either Westlake Bowl or T&C. It's open 24 hours so we always came in late. As I recall, every Tuesday night was "Ladies Night" in which they get to play for free. Don't know it that's still the case but it might be a good idea to bring it back.

If you remember the Arcade game Mortal Combat, which used to be huge back in the early-mid 90's, they used to have tournaments here too. I took my younger cousin here and he would beat every challenger. Yup...made us proud. Although they weren't official tournaments, it might as well have been since the lines of challengers would stretch outside the door.

Speaking of tournaments, this place did hold tournaments and there were some hustlers playing here. All I can say is don't mess with an old Filipino dude whose got a crooked eye and his own stick. These guys would school you like Efren "Bata" Reyes...AKA: The Magician. (Google him)

Now where was I? I think I was too drunk to remember.

I cant say this please looks a little run down, because it is. But im not too picky with my pool place plus i have an old family friend who works there, aside from him the other workers are really cool i see them with a bunch of their old Filipino buddies who seem to go there a lot. I hear some stuff goes down at night but doesn't seem so, maybe they're talking about their poker nights. Well in all its cheap and friendly but not enough going to keep you there to stay.

So this place is CHEAP and kinda located in the ghetto-ish area but definately DIRTY...  it was only about 5 bucks a person but this place smelled like urine (no joke) and to make matters worst, there was a large WET SPOT on our pool table...yea nuff said...probably NOT coming back

i used to come here high.  then again, was i really here? i don't know.

anyway, i don't know whether it's still open 24 hours, but we used to come here at 3am to play a couple of games of 9 ball.  it's a shitty hole-in-the-wall billiards hall, definitely not a place to take a date for a friendly game.  the sticks & balls & tables are old, and they smoke & hustle in the back.

but...they have one of those old school cigarette vending machines, so they get 3 from me.

I've been coming to Town and Country since high school days. I've always had a good game of pool here. The jukebox is the internet kind so you can select any type of songs and they also serve beer. The tables and sticks are ok. Not as nice as other pool halls but this place is pretty cheap so thats kind of what you should expect. They have long hours so if you want to shoot pool early or late anytime they are usually open. I've never waited for a table here and there is plenty of parking. If I ever want to shoot pool out of the city, I usually come here because of those two main factors. Overall this place is nice and I've never had a bad experience here.

A lil rough around the edges. I used to come here regularly a few years back and just recently started coming here again. Apparently, they've done a little remodeling since I was last here, but nothing huge. I think they just re-did the carpeting, added a jukebox, a couple new games, and some old movie posters leaning on the wall by the exit. Bizarre. Cheapest place to play pool I know of and nice staff. They serve piroshkis and corn dogs and other microwavable eatables. Pretty good selection of beer too. Crowd can be a little ghetto sometimes, but everyone minds their own business.

It looks really old a rustic here. I feel like they should make their pool tables look a little more appealing because it is like "ew, I do not want to touch it". The boss is usually pretty nice, he gives free play time! Well for me, I guess. Whenever I would always pass by this place it would always look like it is closed because it is so dark and damp looking inside.  They should have a parking lot!!

Used to come here a lot during the summer . A lot of people come here . Pool rates is pretty cheap here .. I forgot how much it was but it was less than $10/hr . They sell snacks that you can eat while you play pool . They don't have any hot food though . They only sell junk food and beer . The workers there are really friendly . And they have a jukebox where you can pick songs . They have updated songs too ! It's like 1$ for two songs . Pretty worth it . They have a few game machines as well . Their pool tables aren't that nice though sometimes because obviously a lot of people play on it and mess it up . To be fair , we can't really  put all the blame on T&C , it's everyone's fault . Another good thing about this place is that it's open very late !! It's open until like 2 or 3 . And you know what's cool ? They have a condom machine in the ladies room !! Comes in handy if you know what I mean ;) Haha , but they only have 50 cent lifestyle condoms that come in little boxes . I love this place . It's very lively at night . Perfect spot to play some pool , drink some beer , and play some cards . And Tuesday is Ladies' Night !! Which means ladies get to play for free if there is empty tables that is . I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a cool place to chill at night because I always end up having a fun time here . I always pick T&C over family .

A game a pool last night? Cheap...

This place is like a whole in the wall, dirty pool hall.. It seems like a good place for friends to just hang out and play some cheap pool.. I think it was $3.75 per person for an hour of playing... That's pretty cheap..

BAD thing? The ladies bathroom is DISGUSTING! They need to clean that shit hole AT LEAST every hour! Who the hell leaves their "monthly shit" with "THINGS" on it right on the fucken floor? That is so disgusting....

I prefer FAMILY on Geary in SF instead..

It's not a bad place to play at although the table I was on (table #5) had loose table cloth! Whenever I would set myself down for the shot, sometimes the cloth would move. Not a good sign. Definitely not well taken care of, but I figured the guys who were playing at the back with real cue sticks were at the "good tables". Despite the bad condition of the table cloth, I was still able to pull some lucky shots. I bring my own cue sticks so I can't speak on how well those "play", but just by looking at them it doesn't look too good.

Never thought a pool hall could be haunted.  I deem thee Billiards on Haunted Hill.  The decor has red velvet right from The Shining. The cues are about as straight as a Pink Poodle in a Castro Street Parade.

The crowd here is the same one who watches movies at Century 20 kicking your chair and loitering in front of Fuddruckers.  One day in the future I can foresee myself getting shanked in the back by one of those Jefferson Kids.

This is pretty much my alternative when Family Billards onGeary is too damn crowded.  Not the best pool hall but it's adequate if you and your friends just want to chill and hang.  It's a pretty divey spot, pretty dark and full of either old filipino dudes or semi thuggish youngsters.  It's pretty close to the cemeteries down the road so if you get spooked out easier, don't come here.  The whole area just seems friggin dark.

As far as the gameplay, the pool tables aren't the hottest ones around.  They don't do much maintenance on them here.  The prices aren't that bad so I guess I can live with it as my pool game ain't good enough to complain.

Plus is that its open pretty late and I believe its 24 hours during the weekend.

Very subpar place to play pool.  In my younger years, I didn't mind the place too much, but now I see all it's flaws.  For one, the house cues are crap.  Also the cloth on all the tables is in desperate need of being replaced.  I remember shooting a ball and having it curve away from the pocket.  Also, one time my cousin and I got a set of balls with two 10 balls; it was apparent that the balls were salvaged from other sets.  The font of the numbers were different in some and the 1-ball was smaller than the rest.  Not to mention a bunch of them were chipped.  The new management might knock a discount off your game, but the old management sure as hell didn't.  I was a regular (went every other night) at the place and they let me play on the 2 tables near the bathroom, but i NEVER got a discount.  Drive a little farther to SF or the east bay if you really wanna play pool.

Local kick it spot. Spent lots of my afternoons as a teenager here. It's now under new management and is a little more family firendly. Be nice to the guys who give you the balls and he might knock off a discount on your game. Bring in your own cue if you can cause most house cues are not "true".
