This review is about a month past due. Â I was very much looking forward to our visit to TownLine. Â My boyfriend has always had an affinity for bowling and it was his birthday. Â He was looking to do something low key and had been working a lot so I picked TownLine because it was close by to where he'd be ending his day. Â The place looked and sounded awesome online. Â We had about 10-12 people there and had (3) lanes reserved. Â The first hiccup came when we went to get drinks. Â We were told that as long as Rain (the night club next door/attached) is open, they do not serve alcohol in the bowling alley, but we could go over there to purchase it. Â An inconvenience, but we shrugged it off and a couple of the girls grabbed people's drink requests and made the pilgrimage over to Rain. Â There, they were informed that the ID's of ALL guests in our party would need to be checked before anyone was allowed to order an alcoholic beverage. Â So they walked all the way back with the bartender so we could all pop out our ID's. Â One of my friends is from the Dominican Republic and since she had not intended to drink, she did not bring her Passport with her, but only her Dominican ID. Â The bartender told her he could not accept that and therefore, refused to let ANYONE in our party drink. Â She insisted she was fine with not drinking (she's 23 years old and was the youngest in the group where we had ages ranging up to 34) and asked if she could speak to a Manager. Â The bartender obliged and introduced her. Â She showed the Manager her ID and explained the situation. Â Without letting her finish, he glanced at the ID and said "What the F*ck is this?! Â There is no WAY anyone would accept this, are you kidding me??" She offered to have him look up the ID online to verify it's authenticity and once again emphasized she had no issue not drinking, she just didn't want to hold back everyone else. Â His attitude remained terrible so she walked away very upset and upon relaying the story, one of the guys in our group - a veteran with patience of a saint- decided to have a go at talking sense to the manager. Â He finally succeeded and we were able to have our Coronas that required us to walk back over to the nightclub to purchase. Â Needless to say, we just got one round.
Then it was onto the cake.  I had asked in advance if it would be possible to bring a cake and was told there was no issue or fees.  Great!  I brought it and as it was an ice cream cake, they happily stored it in their freezer until it was time to light up the candles and bring it out.  When I asked for 10 paper plates and forks, however, the woman running the food counter instructed the very sweet  worker to tell me that I would have to pay for plastic ware and plates due to the high volume.  I was told that fee would be $1.00.  I was going to tip for the assistance, but now I'm getting nickel and dimed over some .10cents of servingware. . I'm less inclined.  I pulled out a dollar and went on my way.
The only positive I was able to walk away with is that the bowling was cheap ($10/person including bowling shoes) and the food was actually quite decent (the steak tips were amazing). but the completely RUDE and unprofessional behavior from their "management", as well as the complete inconvenience of their policies, will keep me from ever visiting again, or referring others.
In this world of smartphones and video games, we sometimes forget just how great it is to bowl and there is no better place to be than Town Line! I have driven by this place so often and never went in... I can't believe how much I missed out on for so long! I was so impressed with this place that we decided to host our son's birthday party here. That is what this review is based on. We were able to make arrangements quickly and easily and the staff were accommodating and responsive at every turn! The place is beautiful, clean, and comfortable! You can tell that a lot of thought was put into the design - from the comfortable couches at each lane, the cocktail tables, the electronic score boards, the wide screens at the end of the lanes to show videos, the bumpers so smaller kids don't constantly hit the gutter and they even have a 4 lb balls and a ramp so the kids can get added help! The food was great and the kids really enjoyed the game room and prize counter too! You can even have your kid's picture on their marquee outside in the parking lot... My son could not contain his excitement when he saw himself and his name on that big glowing board! He was made to feel special right from the start and that was a great start to the party! Our party coordinator was so helpful and you could tell she was experienced and wanted to make life easy on us! All of the parents at the party said they will have their kids' parties there and we will definitely be back not only for future kid parties but I can also see us bringing a group of adults back for a fun night out!! Many thanks for SUCH a positive experience!
Review Source:Town Line Ten Pin is proof that you can't judge a book by it's cover. The outside has old school, concrete walls with paint. You sort of don't know what you are getting yourself into, but it's much nicer on the inside.
I have been here three times: twice during "Liquid Lanes," and once on a Saturday afternoon. Liquid Lanes takes place Friday and Saturday nights. For four people or less, you rent a lane for $25 an hour instead of paying per person per game. I think it actually works out in your favor if you are a quick player. We manage to play 2 games in a little under an hour. There are only a few lanes reserved for those who cannot drink alcohol, so be prepared to wait in line if it's busy. We have never had a problem getting a lane to order alcohol at.
The drink prices are  OK. Beers are $5.00 or $5.50. You can order a bucket, but you don't get a discount for doing so like most places. They just put however many beers you order in a bucket with ice. They don't seem to have a lot of servers, so be prepared to wait a bit for drinks. Each lane has phones so you can call the bar and place an order. Last night when we called the bar to place a drink order, the only response we got was "We don't know where the server is," and then we hung up on. We did eventually get our beers, but it was another 15-20 minutes.
Overall, this is a fun place to go in a group. It can get a little expensive depending on how many people you go with, but you'll still have a great time.
On Friday/Saturday it's $25 per hour (3 games for a small group) and it's 2.50 for shoe rental which is not too bad considering. It's cheaper any other day. Judging from the outside...I didn't think the place would be nice. Boy was I wrong. The alley is very modern and updated on the inside. As someone else noted, it's not Kings, but it's a very nice bowling experience.
We didn't try the food, but it looked pretty good (considering it's a bowling alley). I'll have to try next time. Drink prices were reasonable as well.
There was a line at around 8:15pm on Saturday (which I expected), but it moved steadily (10 - 15 minute wait from the front door). With 48 lanes, the wait can't be too long. Parking was a breeze and plentiful.
All things considered, that is one of the best bowling alleys I've been to in MA. If you want to actually bowl without the customary 1-2 hour wait that most places have. This is the place! Â Even if this place wasn't 5 minutes away, I'd return!
This place looked scary on the outside, like there was also a strip club in the same building. Â There wasn't, but the nightclub and the warning signs outside made me a little wary going in. Â Inside it was very nice. Â Not as upscale as Kings, but not dirty or rundown at all. Â
This is the largest bowling alley I've ever been in, with 48 lanes. Â The counter people were as friendly and helpful as is humanly possible. Â Shoes too small? Â No problem, here's a new pair. Â Need a ramp? Â Absolutely! Â At one point the balls stopped being returned on our lane so I used the phone (you can call for food and drink too!) to tell them. Â The sincere reaction told me that they cared and a man was dispatched immediately to fix the lane.
The lanes were well cared for and everything was clean and in good repair. Â Even the bathrooms, which one would expect to be a low point, were modern and well-maintained.
We paid $34 for 5 people to bowl 2 games each. Â Fair enough.
Had a great time on a Sunday Funday getting blasted and chucking bowling balls. Â I won, obviously.
The pizza was actually pretty tasty. Â I am not sure if it was the 34 1/2 budlights I had, but I remember it being so good we ordered a second one.
The staff was very accommodating. Â At first they placed our group of 8 adults right next to a childrens birthday party. Â I asked to be moved further away without any attitude or incident.
Town Line has few benefits, its cheaper, quieter and less obnoxious then the "big ball" bowling places in Boston proper. Â They serve booze ( well kinda, avoid the mix drinks because you're just paying a marked up price for soda).
The lanes themselves seem OK enough, I wish they would upgrade the balls but otherwise i don't have any problem with the bowling alley.
There's skeeball in the arcade, but nothing else that's note worthy. Â
That being said, due to its proximity and lack of ridiculous loudness (I'm getting old, damn those loud youngsters) town line ten pin has become my bowling facility of choice.
There are plenty of places to go bowling in the Boston area... this would not be my top choice. Â While atomic bowling is interesting, the place was packed with the sketchiest crowd of people, we were told we couldn't order drinks because we were in a "non drinking lane" (10 out of 50 are drinking lanes), we ordered a pizza that never came. Â Decent bowling balls did not exist, and when it came time to play pool, the only table open was damaged and the only cues available were short and warped. Â On the plus side, we had a coupon so this only cost 20 dollars.
Review Source:Town Slime. Such a consistent affair. I didn't even know it was Town Line Ten Pen Video & Billiards and I've been here about 20 times. Granted, that does make it appear fancier (a worthwhile-but-hopeless endeavor), but I thought I was reviewing the wrong place.
If you want to bowl or whatever, and you can't bowl anywhere else, go here. Otherwise, go to that other place; I assure you it will be the superior choice.
One thing that makes Town Line standout is how unequivocally consistent it is. The checklist is long, and they offer:
A marginal amount of fun
...for $10.
Shady people from all walks of life.
Outdated lanes, warn-out pool tables and the vapid black screens of non-functioning arcade games.
I'm fairly sure there is a money-back guarantee in play here for the aforesaid things. Ask the staff about it if they don't deliver.
This place sucks so good, and with such dependability, I may want to make it my girlfriend.
Mon - Thurs games = $2.50 per person
+ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Shoes = $3.00 a pair

             Cheap date!
This place is clean and has a vast selection of balls. Â I love a good ball selection. I used several different balls until I found the perfect one. Awesome!
There are pretty much no places around here to go and hang out for a cheap price. Ever since Goodtimes closed down, there's just no place to go when you're bored, it's cold, and you don't wanna sit home all night.
So I give Town line 5 stars because I can go there and play pool with a friend or 3 for a few hours and split the cost. they also have a small arcade section with pin ball, pac-man, some driving games, and the ghetto version of DDR that has crappy songs.
The people seem standoffish, but they're actually really friendly. And that's a lot coming from me, because I'm shy as a mouse.
The bowling is fun too, but an hour of bowling all in all is more expensive than an hour of pool.
A Bowling Alley! Â Ten pin, none of that New England small ball crap. That's for your grandma. Â This place has a bar, food, a gameroom and a club next door. Â They do Atomic glow in the dark bowling.
I bowled a 200! Â Yes I was with kids and the bumpers were up but I never even hit the bumper except when I crossed the line and slipped on a very slippery lane and hit my head on it.
I hadn't bowled in a while. This place is old, It took me a good half hour to find a ball because I have small hands and like a heavy ball but that's a tough request. (I'm big everywhere else for the record)
So I had a pink ball, so what? It was fun although not too cheap but whatever. Atomic Bowling sounds awesome. Check out their web site.
Malden Rocks! Â (ok I bowled a 100. ) Still. It was a good time.
And if you bring your own ballz they have a ball cleaner. Sounds fun right?
I have been here twice. Â I went once to play pool and the prices were atrocious. Â The surly man at the register didn't exactly float my boat either. Â Then I went back there to bowl a few months ago. Â The bowling was ultra cheap which is a good thing but it smelled like a dead mouse in there. Â I was going to bowl 5 or 6 games but after smelling that and wanting to throw up everywhere we bowled 2 and kindly exited.
Review Source:The Town Line Ten Pin made a distinct impression right off the bat. Â Having trekked from Newton (stopping for a beverage in Somerville) in search of the 'Atomic Bowling' i'd heard so much about, i had high expectations. Â As we waited for the rest of our party to show, a couple angry-looking teens came out, followed by a few excited packs of them, bearing a distinctive, 'we're going to watch a fight' look. Â Sure enough, we craned our necks to look outside, and saw the first two kids beating the ever-loving crap out of each other. Â Mere feet from my car's bumper, no less. Â
Once we got inside, the guy behind the counter seemed to be relieved to be speaking to adults and we got a couple lanes pretty quickly. Â
Atomic Bowling is about what you'd expect from the name. Â Black light, chasing rope lights, thumpin' bass, music videos (heavy on the Britney Spears that night). Â Good for revealing every speck of lint on your shirt. Â The balls are brightly colored and work well in the black light. Â They are totally committed to the possibilities of making bowling Atomic (what a world we live in! Â when i was a kid...), and pull it off pretty well; pretty much everything looks good in the dark. Â
In case you couldn't tell, though, the clientele is largely teenage, with all the attendant rambunctiousness, but there are a few lanes where you can drink, and you're thus insulated. Â Except for the fact that a drunk guy in the lane next to me wandered into my lane confused. Â So maybe i'm being a little harsh on the kids. Â Beer and other stuff can be brought to you, which is good. Â The seating isn't great, but they have snazzy scoring screens with goofy animations. Â It's $25/lane/hour at night, which i totally couldn't have afforded as a kid, but is pretty cheap entertainment for a group as an adult.
This place is pretty good. Really cheap bowling Monday-Thursday ($2.50 a game). It's a big place but still gets pretty packed. They have food and alcohol, which is very convenient. There is an arcade, although I've never checked that area out. Friday and Saturday nights they have the galactic bowling if you're into that.
My only real peeve about the place is that they only take cash monies. There is an ATM on the premises, but I'm pretty sure it charges a buttload in those bank fees.
Great bowling alley. It's a very nice, huge place with ample parking. Although their arcade needs to be updated with some better games, the actual bowling aspect of the place is great. They have lots and lots of lanes and the games are fairly priced. They are very well maintained and the staff is great.
They also have a fully-stocked bar which is a plus although you will need a bracelet from the bowling counter in order to go and bring the drinks back to the lane. Aside from that they also serve food and have a very nice atmosphere. I felt comfortable there and will be returning there in the future for my bowling needs.
