We take the kids here regularly and love it. A great roadhouse feel to the place. We grab a bowl of peanuts to take to the table, order our favorite burgers and a bowl of fries to share, and then just relax and enjoy. I think they make the best burgers & fries in town and the waitress is as nice as can be. Â We always leave with smiles and full tummies!
Review Source:Come here for the burgers! These are tasty well-built burgers. Â When my family and I were there, they even had $2 Anderson Valley beer. Â Plus, real good garlic fries.
I probably wouldn't bring my grandma here again because there were a few colorful characters at the bar. Â That didn't bring down the good meal.
This is a family favorite of ours. Â We go atleast once every two weeks. Â Burgers are GREAT! Â Went on 8/1, burgers were awesome, but drinks sucked I had a long island it was missing somehting and my husband had a mai-tai it was missing the myers rum on the top. Â Tasted like just fruit juice. Â We ordered chilie cheese fries too, totally nasty. Â Fries were limp and soggy, chilie was hella dry no flavor/sauce and only a small very small dusting of cheese. Â Not what I would expect from this place since the burgers are so great. Â Definatly will go back, but wont order the chilie cheese fries.
Review Source:We had a stellar lunch here. Decor is quirky and interesting, service was wonderful and friendly. Â I would never have found this plate without Living Social. Â We had driven by this place before (LOVE the sign in the parking lot), but I'd never really paid attention. Â Then we got a deal- 2 burgers, fries, and two drinks- so I thought we'd stop here on our way back from Sebastopol, and boy am I glad we did! Â We had the Reuben special burgers- HUGE burgers, perfectly cooked, with pastrami and sauerkraut, and great swiss cheese melted on our burgers. Â The single bowl of fries was plenty (and delicious!). Â I loved the basket of sauces- every condiment you could want. Â Also, we had a terrific Irish hard cider we'd never had before. Â We'll be trying to find that and Bev mo. Â i can't wait to stop here again. Â We will definitely make this place a priority any time we travel north.
Review Source:We had an excellent lunch here today! Â One of us had a Traxx burger with Brie which was huge, juicy, flavorful, done just right, served with tomato and lettuce. Â I had the buffalo wings which are unique and addictive. Â The wings were dipped first in teriyaki and then in a spicy, classic buffalo sauce, crispy and juicy. Â We also shared a delectable bowl of black and tan onion rings, perfectly done. Â Our waitress was delightful, friendly, knowledgeable, and got our order perfectly. Â The place is half bar and half cafe with old timey decorations. Â Everything was clean and we have no complaints. Â Addictive wings! Â Returning in a few days!
Review Source:I went there after a long day of hard, manual labor Saturday night and was exhausted. Â The bar is great with some good beers on tap (Local favorites like Lagunitas), the staff was very pleasant and friendly. Â
My group ordered 3 burgers, all were really good! Â I got the "Petaluma burger" - bacon, cheddar and a fried egg (drooling yet?). Â It was cooked very well, very juicy and tasty! Â I also had a couple of IPA's and boy did I need them! Â They went well with the food.
We ordered the Black & Tan onion rings, they were sooo good! Â Nice to get a beer-battered onion ring where you can actually taste the beer! :) Â The garlic fries were really good as were the sweet potato fries my wife got. Â She ordered the Brie burger and said it was really good, too. Â
In summary, if you are hungry for a burger and want a good beer as well, you cant go wrong with Traxx! Â I'll be back for sure!
Wow, I dunno. Â Maybe my hubs and I came here on a bad day and experienced this place the wrong way. Â But it was kinda not so much. Â Based on the high marks on Yelp about this establishment, we decided to swing by on a Sunday evening for a couple of drinks and some apps to end the weekend. Â We came in and sat at the bar and noticed that the place was like a desert. Â There were 2 couples in the restaurant area and my spouse and I and two other people were the only ones at the bar. Â Maybe it was because it was a Sunday night? Â
The woman who served our drinks was really nice, however, perhaps I've been spoiled on the mad skillz of my husband, who mixes a really mean drink, as well as many and sundry awesome bars in SF, but our drinks turned out just okay. Â We ordered some chicken strips and they were terrible. Â Chewy, like they were cut from old chicken breasts, and with breading that coated - okay I say that word lightly - more like "waved" over some breadcrumbs, it was breaded so lightly. Â
All in all, it was such a depressing experience. Â I don't know. Â I feel like I have to come back during a friday or saturday night and eat in the restaurant side of the place before I give my final verdict. Â But for now, two stars. Â Sad.
Depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for a sports bar & grill, a place where you can eat and mingle with local sports fans, this is the place you want to go. Get a burger - they're delicious! But if you're looking for a restaurant "experience," this is not the place to go. We went around lunch time and the burgers and fries we ordered was more like bar food than the light salad and beers I think we had in mind. An extensive menu, and I'm sure we'll be back, but not for lunch. Late night group drinking, sure.
Review Source:This is Tom B's wife - I order the B.L.A.T. every time ( w/o Tomatoes b/c I don't like them), and add 2 slices of cheddar cheese - it's the BOMB! The best sammie ever because the ingredients are fresh! Â My sandwich was loaded with fresh bacon, fresh avocado, fresh lettuce, and the cheddar cheese was real cheese, not processed garbage cheese.
Review Source:Thumbs up for the newly refreshed Traxx! Â The place was showing some wear and tear but I see the owner has refreshed the interior with new flooring, paint, TV monitors, bar stools, and a thorough cleaning. Â Better yet, the menu has been updated to reflect the economy - they are concentrating on really great burgers and sandwiches, and dropped the higher price dinner options. Â The burgers seem bigger, the ingredients are definitely fresher, and the presentation improved. Â Finally, they added a TV to the dining room, so you don't have to crane your neck to see into the bar for whats going on with the game! Â Much better - oh, and the hot wings were awesome!
Review Source:I assumed a place like Traxx wouldn't be my scene at all. Â Honestly, when I hear "Bar and Grill" I think Applebee's. Â Yuck.
Well kids, this ain't Applebee's. Â First off, there's the food. Â Grilled chicken club? Â Guacamole burger? Â Giant onion rings? Â Yes, it's bar food, but it's GOOD bar food. Â Flavorful, fresh, and portions big enough to take home half for lunch tomorrow. Â They have a killer selection of beers on tap and knock-your-socks-off strong mixed drinks too. Â
The place is about as laid back as you can get, but that doesn't mean service is bad. Â You seat yourself, but a waitress is always quick to bring you a pint or refill your water glass. Â The walls are covered with old signs from around the county - does anyone remember the Red Lion Inn? Â They have their sign on the patio.
Finally, I gotta say what keeps me coming back to Traxx is the staff. Â I love Rosie and Maggie! Â They are my homegirls. Â Come visit them and have a pint. Â You'll be happy you did!
I never knew this place was even there. When you first walk in, the place is decorated in funky old school sgins. I was totally blown away by the service and the food. I had a chili dog that i could barely finish half of. Everyone in our large party had good food with huge portions. I cannot wait to go back and try all the other things on the rather large BAR menu!
Review Source:I'm feeling guilty for not writing a review of this joint sooner. When my friends first exposed me to Traxx, I walked in thinking it was nothing more than a bar and some cheap pub food. I found that couldn't be further from the truth.
The food is mostly your standard pub fare, fried goodies like calamari (excellent with their dipping sauce) burgers, sandwiches etc. Almost everything on the menu that would be better with bacon comes with it. (Outstanding!) But there are quite a few surprises in there, like some great pasta dishes, enormous salads and excellent specials that change every day. My favorite is their Crispy Chicken Sandwich, which comes with all the usual fixings, mozzarella cheese and (of course) bacon. They have an awesome honey mustard sauce, seriously - ask for it.
The food at Traxx is consistently excellent; I've never once been disappointed. If the food is good, it's the staff that really shines. They're always very friendly, they remember my name when I walk in the place and there is nothing they won't substitute within reason. Want sourdough instead of a French roll? No problem. Don't like that sauce? They'll bring you an assortment to try. Drinks are always well poured. Ask for a little more poison in your cocktail and you won't get a glare from the bartender.
You won't mistake this place for some fu-fu bar and grill. Â The atmosphere in the dining room is very nice but you'll still hear good 'ol boys hanging around the bar and shaking dice. There is a great group of people who hang out there and I always have a good time when my goal is catching a bite and a buzz at Traxx.

Summary: This is a great place to grab a bite to eat in a relaxed atmosphere with a GREAT staff. Â Also, they have great football time specials like burger and sandwiches for $5 and drink specials.
The service is EXCELLENT. They are super friendly. The ambiance leaves a bit to be desired but keep in mind that this a bar. At least the bar is separated from the dining room but again, what they lack in ambiance they more than make up for in service. Seriously, I don't know if there is better service anywhere in town. It isn't a 5 star restaurant but the staff is so friendly, will fix any problem that you have and is willing to bend over backwards to make you happy. They normally serve bread with dinner but they were out when we were there so our server had the kitchen make us up a large batch of garlic/cheese bread...for free!!! ...and it was great! She also told us that she only had two cups of clam chowder left. We were all going to share salads, soups, etc so that we could try everything so it was a nice surprise when she ended up bringing us the second cup of clam chowder for free. By the way, the clam chowder is excellent; above what you would expect from a bar/restaurant.
They have a pretty extensive menu. We have had the burgers (there are about 5 choices and all of them are pretty good), steaks, pasta and salads and they were all quite good. Their lava cake dessert is excellent and they have a good selection of tea (including herbal - my preference). They never rush you to leave so feel free to hang out and enjoy the company of your friends and family.
Traxx sells deeply discounted gift certificates on <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Frestaurant.com&s=c5fe485af4df376130bee54f875814d79c4d7913e1258123b1206d2bdbf4873b" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://restaurant.com</a> for those of you who have always wanted to try them and would rather do it at a discount.
(NOTE: Different establishments require different ratings since what makes a hometown deli a great place to eat are not necessarily the same factors that make a 5 star restaurant a great place to eat. For this reason you might see me rate a hot dog stand with 5 stars and a fancy restaurant with only 3 stars even though most people would prefer the fancy place. Â As you can see, price, ambiance, service and food quality for the price all factor into my ratings.
Also, I am a Bacon Cheese Burger and Hot Dog connoisseur so I am quite picky in regards to those "foods" so if you are a restaurant that I have rated and would like to discuss my review please feel free to contact me. I know that I can be brutally honest but it is in an effort to raise the standards. Too many places use crappy meat but then cover it with cheese and sauce so nobody notices. Â This does not make for a great burger, no matter how much the general public likes them. Â If you want to contact me, please feel free to; I can help advise you on how to improve your burgers.)
Traxx is located across the road from the Petaluma railroad station. It looks like an unassuming sports bar with a huge parking lot, Â and you can feel the love when you walk through the door. The bartender sat us at a corner table with a vase of fresh roses and whisked drinks right over. Exceptional Bloodies. The menu sports the usual pub grub like buffalo wings, but they had starters like teriyaki bits and beer battered green beans that I would have tried. I had a chicken Caesar wrap and my buddy had a chicken club. The red potato salad side was fresh and chunky. My wrap would have been perfect if they had not used the bagged lettuce with the carrot shreds in it. Tasty sauce however. Â The full meal menu looked good, and they feature a lot of exceptional local wines like Salmon Creek, Murphy Goode and La Crema. Â The prices are very fair, and it's worth turning off on 116 to find the place.
Review Source:It was the neon green martini sign lighting up the sky as we drove around looking for drinks on our way back from Rohnert Park! Â So glad it caught my attention, we were not disappointed.
We were greeted with AC/DC's Back in Black compliments of the juke box when we stepped out of our car - we knew this place was going to rock!
The grill was closed when we arrived Saturday night so we were forced to enjoy our fabulous cocktails on empty bellies!
Very friendly bartender/owner named Chris who makes you feel welcome and right at home.
If the food on the menu tastes as good as the drinks I am making pit-stopping in Petaluma a regular event.
This place was a bonus stop on the way to Dillon Beach last weekend. I was pleasantly surprised by the nice bar and good food. They had a rib special that smelled up the entire joint  and made me salivate. That however, is not what I ordered. I chose the buffalo chicken sandwich with onion rings.  Both were excellent! The onion rings were hot and crispy and the sandwich was rolled up in a nice big tortilla. It was more food than I could handle so half the sammich went home :) I did get a good look at everyone else's food and it all looked really good and everything came out pretty fast.
Warning: Sometimes the women's bathroom lock won't work and can make for an embarrassing situation.
