A-roi mak mak!
I'm delighted to have finally found great pad thai and thai curry on maui. Â For me these are staple dishes which I could, and do, eat every week. Â I've spent a fair bit of time in Thailand and I know Thai food pretty well. Â Tuk Tuk Thai is IMHO the best tasting Thai food I've had on Maui.
To be fair Tuk Tuk Thai has a very limited menu compared to the Thai restaurants on island, but what TTT does they do remarkably well.
Do call ahead if you're planning on going towards their scheduled closing time as just like mobile food trucks (they're kind of an immobile food truck) they do often close up an hour or so early if the fresh ingredients run out.
The food here is RIDICULOUS! The beautiful smiling ladies who cooked for us were so sweet and lovely to be around. We took lots of great photos and we bought more food than we needed because they gave off such a great vibe and you know what? It was all amazing! I had no idea papaya salad was supposed to taste delicious like that. I couldn't get enough. We had a fish panang curry, a tofu massaman curry, chicken pad thai, and a red curry.
Review Source:This was one of the coolest places I visited on Maui! Â I was passing by with friends and saw this place and just wanted to get a picture. Â The restaurant is an old school bus, painted in Hippie colored tie-die, but it said "Thai Food." Â (Which translated to "Dee please stop and gobble me up" in my mind.)
The next thing I know I'm surrounded with friendly people, a couple from Australia with a cute little dog, a philosopher who tries Thai food all over the place, like myself, and a bunch of beautiful, smiling Thai women... (One of which I came with ;-), maybe I'll upload some pics... It felt like home in the TV show "Lost" weird kind of way. Â
Whatever the case, I spoke a little Thai, ordered some Pai Thai noodles, took some pictures and headed back to the beach. Â I don't know if the place is always this hip, but the day I went it was a Blast! Â I enjoyed my meal, but the ambiance, that day at least, was what made the place worth a visit.
