I had a very positive conversation with the management after having posted my review, and they gave us a kind offer to compensate for our bad experience with the series. They also detailed all the changes that have been made to this series based on the feedback from previous attendees, and it sounds like they've taken our suggestions to heart. Thank you for being willing to talk and resolve this unfortunate situation. Your customer service is much appreciated :)

    UPDATE: 7/17

We attended tonight's Summer BBQ Series class and were so very impressed with all the changes that have been made to the series. Tonight's class was done by Cali BBQ in Spring Valley, and they were amazing.

The food was bountiful, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Their tri-tip sliders were the best I've ever had, and the dessert was pure bliss.... grilled peaches with a cinnamon sugar drizzle and vanilla ice cream. There were actually many different courses in this event.... we started out with a cup of baked "wedding" bean side dish that was fantastic.... pieces of pulled pork and peppers added to the flavor of the dish...mmmm :) then, we had a bacon wrapped, five cheese stuffed jalapeno, which my husband loved. After that came two sliders ~ one pulled pork and the other was a tri-tip that was juicy, flavorful, and melted in our mouths. They were paired with a potato salad that was also yummy. The main course was a plate of ribs that melted off the bone. All this was finished off with the grilled peach dessert I mentioned above.

When we arrived, we were given two drink tokens, a recipe card, and two coupons for the restaurant. One that ensured us happy hour pricing throughout the rest of the evening (a nice added touch, although we were so full, we didn't even think of using it), and a card for 20% off any lunch for our entire table that is valid for the rest of the year. These were nice added touches this year. The venue was also moved onto the patio overlooking the ocean, and we were able to watch a beautiful sunset as the evening progressed.

We were thoroughly impressed with the event, the friendliness of the staff, the offers of seconds on the tri-tip (mmmm), and the hospitality of Katie who organizes the event. I would now highly recommend that if you're in the area for one of these evenings this summer, that you stop by and experience a lovely evening. We're looking forward to attending the next one!

    Thank you!

This place is fantastic and Thursday night is definitely the night to go!  I believe tapas are always on their menu but Thursday nights the guys are outside cooking all of the Tapas in front of you, the guitarist is playing fabulous music and it gives you a very authentic Spanish feeling.  I am in a Spanish conversational group where we get together once a month at different Mexican/Spanish restaurants to practice speaking Spanish and this is by far one of the best places we have gone to.  I was also very impressed with our server Angela who serviced our entire group of 25 while we ordered drinks, tapas and other items off the menu at various times through the 3 or so hours we were there.  She was very patient with us, prompt, very nice and got every order correct.  The food was absolutely delicious, I had the shrimp tapa and it was by far one of the pieces of shrimp I've ever eaten and the ahi tuna salad was fantastic also.  The house bread with the spiced butter was also good and other people in our group enjoyed the lamb meatballs, hummus and flatbreads.  The sangria was great both red and white and they had great prices on everything!  I will definitely be back and look forward to more great music, food and fun!

I just stopped in for drinks with some friends and it was the perfect atmosphere. The outdoor seating is beautiful and they have a very extensive drinks menu. I didn't get a chance to try the food, but I know I will be back to try it pretty soon with a tasty glass of wine.

I see no reason to come back....

Food is good.  Portions are small.  Have Stone 22oz beers by the bottle which is a +.

Went here for lunch with the hubby. We were seated promptly and the service was good. We ordered the calamari appetizer and it was delicious but the calamari was a little overcooked and rubbery but not excessively. The aeoli sauce served along with it was great, hint of heat but nothing crazy (I even dipped my fries in it later). Ordered the sangria, the strawberries tasted like they were originally frozen but it could be that they'd been marinating in the wine for awhile. The build your own burger was pretty good! Cooked to order and rare actually comes out rare. The only issue I had, with both the burger and fries, was they weren't salted enough. I'm not a fan of over salting but there should be enough to enhance the flavor. There is salt at the table so I just salted both on my own. The garlic aeoli with the burger was delicious. We'll definitely be back to check out the happy hour and dinner menus.

I was here for a wedding (more on that in an alternate review coming) and got the chance to eat here three times over the course of three days.  First was just drinks and calamari.  The drinks were AWESOME. Not weak, and the bartender is really friendly (and not too hard on the eyes if you know what I'm saying ;-).  I would HIGHLY recommend the 20/20 Gin Fizz, especially if you like egg whites in your drink.  Not too sweet, not too dry.  It goes down so easy and has good citrus flavors.  Also had the rose and red sangrias (I'd go with red), and some more traditional options (lemon drops, old fashioned's).  The calamari was different and really tasty.  Not too heavily breaded, tender, and really flavorful.  There were chunks of banana peppers and artichokes thrown in too which made it distinctly different than any other fried calamari I've ever had.  Comes with an aioli rather than marinara, which is also nice and flavorful, not too mayo-y tasting.

The following day we had lunch before the ceremony.  I had shrimp tacos that I have yet to beat despite my attempts over the last two weeks.  Lots of big, juicy, well seasoned shrimp topped with cabbage, pico de gallo and some creamy cilantro dressing come on the side.  I would recommend both as well as a side of avocado slices to add to your tacos.  The order comes with three.  On a service note, they are a little slow, even when it's not too busy, and there was confusion with my avocado so I ended up getting double (which was ok since they charged $2 for it).

Last was the post-wedding brunch.  They had a buffet and a limited menu for us that I believe was different than the full brunch menu.  One of the menu offering was almost exactly the same as what they were offering on the buffet though, so loss of points for lack of originality.  I had the french toast.  I chant remember if it's with challah or brioche, but it's a big, fluffy loaf and plenty cinnamony.  I like sweet french toast that I don't need syrup for, this was not that.  It's a pretty straight forward egg, milk, cinnamon mixture it's dipped in.  The honey butter it is served with is a nice little surprise, but does make the toast very rich.  The coffee is pretty good too.

Overall, great hotel dining, possibly the best I've had at a chain hotel.

    Good chef, good manager.

For appetizer I had the calamari with was complimented with breaded artichoke.  I liked the dual flavors, although the calamari or the breaking could have used a little more salt.
For main course, I chose the seasonal fish, which was halibut.  I was surprised the dish came so simply, with a grilled lemon, the grilled halibut, and some leafy broccoli.  The cut of the fish was large and grilled perfectly in my opinion. Very juicy and tender.

They only offer one dessert, which is the mini dessert tree.  I did not opt for it since I didn't like half of the items on the tree which included tiramisu, cheesecake and other items which I can't remember.

They have standard kids menu as most other restaurants.  My kids had the Mac and cheese, which I'm never a fan of, but theirs actually tastes fairly good.  It's a large size for kids under 8, in my opinion.

    Overall, a great experience.

I went out for some passion play at Twenty 20 Grill that overlooked the panoramic Pacific. It was only fitting that I included two of my passions into my happy hour experience. One was the delectable and perfectly poured pomegranate martini, and the other their marinated garlic olives. I didn't have to get all jazzed up to sit outside and enjoy everything they had to offer.

non-meat entrees are overpriced, for what they are. I got the eggplant parm, which was $19, and it consisted of two thin slices of eggplant, two slices of tomato, a scant amount of sauce, and a LOT of cheese. I asked for "light on the cheese", but the pizza was easily 1/2 cheese by volume. one of my friends got a pizza, which was also far too cheesy -- we like cheese but this was too much!
some of my other friends got meat dishes which tasted fine, but were nothing to write home about. and like i said earlier, too expensive.

that said, it was a fine experience. it just wouldn't be anywhere near the top of my list for places to eat. i would have rather driven miles away to get cheaper and/or better food.

We were staying at the Sheraton and ate breakfast here our fist day.  Two of us had the buffet - good selection of average breakfast food, but with wonderful bacon.  My wife had the Benedict, which was well done.  I had Basque Eggs, which is eggs over a sweet tomato sauce with chorizo.  The eggs with the sauce were delicious, but the chorizo was to hard to be eaten with this dish.  They needed a softer sausage to work with the dish.

Had their steak while I was staying at the Marriott right next to them. Good selection of breads and liquor. Very posh and had a very good vibe during my dining experience.

    Five stars!

To start, the Maple Bacon Bourbon was like no other cocktail I have ever had.  Think Jack Daniels Single Barrel on the rocks with a honey glazed bacon as an accoutrement. Smelling the bacon while sipping the bourbon did wonders for my palette.  Try it!

The white sangria was sweet and tart-y. Went down smooth.  Even though the weather was cooler than usual, I would enjoy it better on a hot summer night.

For appetizer, we had the chorizo flat bread at the recommendation of our server.

For our main dish, we ordered the Chicken Brick and Salmon.

The chicken, especially the skin, was flavorful and delicious. It went well with the vegetables and was not dry at all.

The salmon over rice was the same.  The salmon skin was rich with flavor and crispy.  Also was not dry.

For dessert, we were presented with a dessert stand that had all of the dessert available in small portions. Being that we were full from the wonderful meal, we just chose the Cheesecake and tiramisu instead of the whole dessert tray like they offered.

    Food: fantastic
    Staff: friendly
    Ambiance: sit down, fancy
    Would come again: most definitely

Overall, this is probably the best meal I have had this year.

I might be biased because I did not pay for dinner here - but I enjoyed the food 100%.

I came here for work and scoped out the menu beforehand. I was a little surprised by how small the menu was, but once I sat down to eat I didn't mind at all.

We started with a plate of appetizers. Salami, prosciutto, bread, and olives. The meats were cut paper thin to where they would almost melt on your tongue. I ate the olives quickly as they were delicious.

I had a salad with avocado, asparagus, greens,  and parmesan. The produce was fresh and well picked. For the entree I had the wild mushroom flat bread, which was a strange choice for me considering I do not like mushrooms.

This flat bread was so good that it changed my opinion on mushrooms. It was just nicely done with arugula and different types of mushrooms. I gobbled it all down quickly.

This was a nice place for a work dinner as we were able to reserve the back room, which has curtain partitions. It's more on the pricey side, so I wouldn't be able to afford coming back here. However,  I do reccommend this place to friends.

For a second , I thought this place was for people who has vision disabilities.
I don't have 20/20 vision so I would be drinking my sorrows away over here!
And for that, they do have a Racer 5 IPA for $6, which is not bad. Although my beer had very little carbonation in it.

Their menu is one page and it's very limited.

We came here to meet up with our cousins and their kids for dinner.
We had quite a bit, so don't call us pigs now.

Fried Calamari $10-These were really thin calamari, almost paperlike. So thin, that believe it or not, I could not tell if it was something else. There were no heads and it was slightly salty.

Shrimp A LA Plancha-$12 There were 4 shrimps. Really large ones. The bummer was soaked in some kind of broth. Its supposed to have Chili/Lemon/Garlic. I saw the garlic but could not taste it. The shrimps were black around the heads so not too pleasant if you like shrimp heads. Slightly expensive for 4 shrimps.

Lamb meatballs $4-There were 4 meatballs inside the bowl. It was simple but nothing too out of the ordinary.

Niman Ranch Burger $15-This was my favorite. I order it medium and it was maybe medium rare. Can taste the fried egg. Can taste the meat. It's like a hearty burger fit for a man. But the fries that came on the side, was like a child size. It has arugula.

Chorizo flatbread-$12- It was tasty but the dough tasted doughy and the chorizo did not stick on the flatbread. It kept falling apart.

Wild Mushroom flatbread $10-It has more arugula. I love arugula but tonight, I think I've had it in 3 dishes. Could not taste the truffle oil , but honestly, this was the better of the two flatbreads we got.

Here's the really good thing about this place though if you have kids. The kids portions are incredibly huge. We got a cheese pizza that looks like a 8" another kid also ordered a grilled cheese sammy. It was huge, on regular bread. I don't think any 10 year old kid or younger will finish this . Even came with a side of fruit. The only thing it didn't come with is milk for the kids.

So food was okay here, what really made it difficult for us was the speed of food/drinks/service the Saturday we were here last week. It was a little slow since it took 15 minutes to just get my beer. Food didn't come out all at once and some were not hot enough. For a place nearby Legoland, it's not a bad place to come here if you don't want to leave Sheraton. (By the way, the pool was nice since it was a 24 hour pool).  The ambience is awesome here, it's like a nightclub decor , but less the noise. You'll only get noise from the next table worth of kids.

Twenty/20 has a great concept but still needs to work out some kinks in its execution.  The restaurant was just rebranded, redesigned and rebuilt, and it relaunched with a new menu on 1/16/13, three days before our visit.  I love Spanish food, so the focus on the cuisine of Northern Spain (more specifically San Sebastian, according to our server) was really exciting to me.

Twenty/20's location within the newish Sheraton Carlsbad up behind Legoland poses some serious challenges for the restaurant.  The hotel seems like a business hotel during the week, yet its proximity to Legoland means kids will be there too, especially on weekends and holidays.  We went on the Saturday of a long weekend, and kids (including ours) were everywhere.

Given that the relaunch was so recent, making us wait despite our reservation and a bunch of empty tables can probably be excused.  The whole front of house, from the hostess down through the wait staff, felt disorganized.  Hopefully that issue will resolve itself over time.

Once we were seated, our server brought bread in a bag on a cutting board, which made for an attractive but impractical presentation.  It looked great, but I had to dig my hand into the bag to fish out the sourdough.  It was also odd that the "featured" bread was an olive bread, but it came with butter rather than olive oil, which we would have preferred.

The new menu offers tapas, flatbreads, standards, greens and sides.  We came for dinner but we weren't really inspired by the standards - they seemed really ordinary and but for some manchego and rice, they didn't seem very Spanish. My wife and I don't order chicken or salmon at restaurants because we make both at home, our server never identified the "seasonal fish", and we didn't feel like burgers. So we split the flatiron steak and ordered 3 of the tapas.

The bacon wrapped dates we're good but small and a bit dry, the shrimp a la plancha had great flavors but required a lot of work to peel and were strangely mushy, and the marinated olives were garlic bombs, although they were tasty.

The Twenty/20 price point is a bit high for the area, so to make it work the food has to be exceptional. All the building blocks are there. If they can work out the kinks Twenty/20 can be a great destination restaurant. I'm afraid they still have some work to do.

We had Thanksgiving dinner with some new friends.  While the menu read well, it did not translate to the dish.
I decided to have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and chose the Roasted Diestel Farms Turkey with Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes, Apple Pecan Cornbread Stuffing, Blue Lake Green Beans, and Cranberry Allspice Chutney.
    My reviews are as follows:
    Turkey - Dry and bland
Blue Lake Green Beans - Bland, Shriveled, and mushy.
Mashed Potatoes - Dry and tasteless, badly in need of cream
Cranberry Allspice Chutney - nothing special here, a few berries short of canned

Our waiter was odd, the cadence of his voice was difficult to listen to.

The only redeeming part of the meal was the bread and garlic herb butter.

It seemed like the meals were prepared in large portions and were not fresh to order.  The food was forgettable and uninspiring.

Two stars is being generous.  I will not be back for Thanksgiving or any other meal.

My husband and I go here a lot for lunch.  He always gets their Mac n cheese.  It's a bit greasy for me but he obviously likes it.  I've had several of the items off their lunch menu. Nothing spectacular, but definitely good.
Their menu does change from time to time as they do get some of their foods from local farms. The main draw for me in coming to this restaurant is that they serve organic food whenever possible and also serve meats from farms that treat their animals humanely.

I had my engagement party here last night out on the patio and it was perfect! The restaurant looks very classy and sophisticated without feeling "stuffy." The patio is very private and the outdoor fireplace was awesome.

There were 15 of us and the service was great and very accommodating. It seemed like everyone was happy with the food. Lots to choose from on the drink menu. I got several Pink Halo's which were great, and definitely did the trick lol. We had drinks, appetizers, and pizza so I can't review on any main entrees. My fiance and I shared the screaming chicken pizza, it was AMAZING.

    Definitely will be back!

Simply said, we left before our water glasses were filled.

We made reservations and arrived early planning to grab a drink at the bar.  When we spoke to the woman in front, she told us to wait for the hostess to come back and demanded that  we HAD to close  out before sitting at our table if we wanted grab a drink at the bar.  The frumpy  hostess sat us at a table next to a large party.  We sat for 15 minutes listening to the parents attempt to control their offspring and all we wanted was a drink.  Left with not even a glass of water, we decided it was  time to go somewhere better.

I would not recommend this restaurant... We went to Bistro West and had a great meal that was not interrupted by obnoxious kids or careless waitstaff.

I liked this place.. We dined at 9pm to avoid any Legoland families. It worked. We chose the patio because they were showing a football game  on a number of screens and I wanted my partner's attention for our anniversary dinner. The food was very tasty and the service perfect.
It's always a treat to find crab cakes with no bell pepper. The fried calamari had fried pepperchinnis  (sp?) which amped up the dish. I did a steak salad and beau the duck. We were both impressed.
      We would definitely return here.

Had a very nice, unhurried lunch at Twenty20 today with my Mom. I had the Turkey Club Sandwich with Fries, and she had the Marguerita Pizza. her pizza was a bit soupy, but good, and my lunch was tasty. The bread on my sandwich was homemade whole wheat and really made the sandwich feel healthy and comforting. The fries were tasty and crisp. Everything was served in a timely manor.
There was a rather large table of women next to us which made it a bit noisy. It would be good to have more space between the tables right inside the window section.

Apparently this place is super hopping on Thursday nights from 5:30-8 with Tapas and a band. It was suggested we make reservations for the Thursday night patio seating because it fills up several days ahead of time. Looking forward to trying that out with my husband some time soon.

The Twenty/20 is a friendly, drama-free place to go to early in the evening for dinner. The staff are totally laid-back and relaxed and make you feel as if there's nowhere else you need to be.

Their menu is kind of limited. It's pretty typical of what you would find in any hotel restaurant with a little bit of this and that, but Twenty/20 Grill & Wine Bar is more about the atmosphere than the food. On our first visit there, my wife and I each ordered the 10" Screaming Chicken hearth-baked pizza with the focaccia garlic bread. The pizza was good but the garlic bread was a little brittle and chalky. On our last visit I ordered the Filet Mignon. It was the most expensive thing on the menu at $38 but it was worth it. Highly recommended!

There is a restaurant portion and a bar. There is also a heated outdoor patio in front of the restaurant which is cool for people that want to watch the sun go down as they eat. The hotel does have a great view of Carlsbad.

This place just doesn't quite work. It's got a small menu which is usually a good thing, but it's just kind of boring. I got the grilled cheese which was fine, but no different than something I'd make for myself at home. My husband had the fish tacos which were also just fine but nothing new.

The restaurant is probably nice if you're staying at the Sheraton but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there.

My husband and I came for dinner here on a few occasions during our stay in the nearby Grand Marbrisa.  The first time was the first day we arrived.  The hostess informed us without a reservation, we would have to sit in the bar.  There was one table but it seemed like the bar was busier than the dining room so I'm not really sure what she was talking about.  The bartender came to take our drink and food orders.  The drinks are overpriced, but this is a hotel restaurant so that is to be expected.  We both ordered the chicken pizza which I found to be good and the focaccia bread was a large order and delicious.  Service was slow after our food came out though and our guy was too busy serving all the boozers.

Since we had 2 $50 gift certificates to use for the rest of the week (that was our gift for listening to the Hilton Grand Vacation sales pitch) we went back two other evenings.

The next time, I was disappointed with my lobster and crab lobster.  They didn't cook the pasta very well as it clumped.  It was a large portion though for $28 and I took the leftovers back.  We were forgotten about as it took a while for the server to come take our orders so we were offered free desserts which was nice.  When we did meet our server, she was friendly and offered good tips for eats.

The last night was tapas night on Thursday.  Live music and tapas are a good combination.  Even though we preferred to eat indoors it was nice we could still hear music as we sat close to the door leading to the patio.  There is a great selection of tapas and for $4 I chose the duck confit taco which was delicious.  The shrimp cocktail for $3 was the best priced item and very good.  Four shrimp served with fresh tomatoes and  avocado with corn chips.  It was tasty and fresh and I could have consumed 3 of them! The focaccia bread was good too.  For dessert I tried the banana cupcake and was happy with my choice.  That evening I left with a full belly without a lighter wallet.

Based on my 3 experiences at Twenty/20, I would give it an average of 4 stars.  If was to go back, it would definitely be to try the local ingredients used in the tapas.  Yes, the prices are a little more than you would pay elsewhere but it's comparable to what you would find at a hotel restaurant.

I came here the other day to celebrate my bf's brothers birthday. Luckily, we made it within 20 minutes of the happy hour ending---which would've been miserable considering the food is quite pricey here. UNLESS, you make it for happy hour.

They have 1/2 off on the spreads (we chose the goat cheese with homemade strawberry jam and an olive tapenade) as well as $2 off drinks (wines/beers) and 1/2 off pizzas. The pizza I ordered was a wild mushroom, truffle pizza. Although the flavors were pretty good...I think there were only maybe about 3 mushrooms on the whole thing? (I do know they try to use local farmers, so maybe the mushroom farmer was out for the day!) In any case, they threw on some garlic cloves that were baked through which were pretty good. The dough was a bit thick for how little toppings there were, so we left them on the side. (Should've used them with our leftover spreads since the spreads come in HEAPING amounts!)

I ordered the Twenty/20 Gin Fizz drink with foamy egg whites on top. I have no idea what was in it. It was tasty, and more importantly--it was strong. I never order cocktails, so moral of the story is---go for the cocktails. (They come in little flute glasses, but for someone like me who can drink like a 500lb beast of a man...a few of those and you're GOLDEN, trust me.)

Visited Twenty/20 with a group of 6 hoping for a night of good drinks and good food.  Upon arrival we were impressed by the layout of the hotel and restaurant.  There is an area outside where you can sit by a fireplace, but it was raining and cold so we sat inside.

Wait staff was friendly and seated us promptly as we arrived on time for our reservation.

We ordered an assortment of spreads to go with our bread including Goat Cheese/Jelly and Hummus.  The spreads were mediocre and tasted like something we could have purchased from a grocery store.  We also ordered the Rock Shrimp which was very meh! Nothing like what I expected and have tasted at other restaurants.  Also ordered the Calamari.  While the Calamari was just OK, the fried pepperocinis that came with the dish were pretty tasty.

For our main course we ordered Pizza (cheese and bbq chicken), none of which were spectacular.

The most yummy part to this meal was the Flourless Chocolate Cake, which we ordered "a la mode."

We won't be back as we can probably have a better party at home with food bought from Trader Joes!

One of my favorite places for a happy hour or group social event in summertime! Around sunset on the patio....gorgeous! Ok, so let's get down to business - drinks - excellent - try the millionaire martini - my fav., but the moscow mule is my sis' fav.!

All the appetizers (and we literally had all of them on the menu) are good/great! Dinner was great! I enjoyed everything from service to presentation!

You got to try it out for yourself!

The lobster snow crab pasta was delish! I also had their house salad called 'maison' which had a wonderful light, but very good dressing. My favorite app. was the tempura rock shrimp - I remember ordering two! :D

We stayed at the Sheraton last week, and I wanted to figure out a good place to go for dinner, and Twenty/20 was the top search result.  Awesomely, they are in the same spot!

We had a very yummy dinner, with some great wine. The mason jar appetizers are awesome and perfect for sharing.  The BF got the seasonal mussels, and the portion was about an appetizer size so he helped me with my pizza.  All of the ingredients were local, which is also great.  I love to support local farmers.

The food was so good, we couldn't pass up desert.  We asked to see a desert menu, and she brought over this tower thing of 6 different mini deserts, $2.50 each and they only charge you for what you eat.  What kind of a scheme is this?  Put six different deserts in front of me and see how many last.  The answer is three.

Also, thursday night is the night to go there - live Jazz on the patio!

    Best happy hour in Carlsbad!

There are several levels of appetizers to choose from with varying levels of price.  Of course the best apps are the most expensive, but at $6 per plate, the price is still a deal.

If you're on a budget, then stick with the hummus.  It's a small plate of two chips with hummus already drizzled across the top.

If you're not on a budget, then go with the braised short ribs.  It may not be the best thing you've ever eaten, but it is quite tasty--especially when paired with a nice pinot noir.

There are of course a good amount of drink specials as well.

There is also live music on most nights during happy hour.

I highly suggest dining outdoors.  With any luck you'll have a nice view of the Pacific while you're exchanging glances/laughs/stories with those in your party.

With the right people, Twenty/20 can provide a memorable happy hour experience.

    Choose wisely...

***According to my GF, the app specials aren't available on a daily basis, please call ahead to make sure.  I don't want to be at fault if you don't have a memorable experience***

I was surprised and impressed by this restaurant. Usually, hotel restaurants are just average at best...not this one. The decor is vibrant, colorful yet it was warm and inviting. You also have the option of eating al fresco to enjoy the weather and view.

Service is friendly, attentive, efficient and helpful. Our waiter recommended us some great food and they did not disappoint. Even the manager checked in on us to make sure everything was going well.

The menu offers, fresh, local and organic ingredients combined to create some delicious and delectable dishes. We started with Baby Spinach & Goat Cheese Salad that had strawberries, citrus, pepitas and polenta croutons. These croutons were out-of-this-world amazing since the texture was crunchy on the outside but soft, silky and creamy on the inside. They just absolutely melted in our mouths. And for a few dollars more, you can make it a family style dish and believe, it can feed an army of relatives.

My kids had the Sliders - Three Way and Giant Meatball and Pasta. Kids said they were delicious. Of course, anything to them is delicious at their age. Even a instant ramen noodles to them is delicious; but I did taste a sample of their dish and had to agree with them.

Wifey had the Korean BBQ Beef wrapped in leaves with Cucumber, Mint and Watermelon. Perfect combination of sweet and savory. My only regret was not tasting their selection of California Wines since it was Doctor's order of no alcohol for a week. Bummer, but we still had a great meal and a great time.

Can't wait till we return again and try the rest of their menu.

It was a nice venue for a rare weekday lunch date with a friend.

At arrival I circled twice looking for self parking, because I wasn't sure if I had cash for valet service and my car was a mess. Doggy fur everywhere and every cup holder was occupied with some kind of fast food drink. Emmbarrassssinngg... I gave up, and learned that it was complimentary valet service. I was lucky and found 3 bucks in my messy car for tip!

I'll have to give this place another try on another day. It was too hot to sit outside and enjoy the views, and I wasn't hungry enough to eat anything but the warm arugala salad. It looks super small but it was enough to fill me up, but then again, I wasn't that hungry. My lunch date (Julie D) ordered the cheeseburger, and had to order fries to go with it. Thought it was weird for a sit-down restaurant to serve a burger w/out fries.

Will have to try again the next time I have a friend over in my hood to take to a nice scenic restaurant. I'll make sure my car is clean, I have cash for tip, and to check the weather :)

We stayed at the Sheraton, and we were hooked.  We ate lunch and supper here for nearly all our meals we were on property, and not at Legoland.  We always got excellent service.  I had an unfortunate experience with wine right off the bat (I'm not usually a wine snob, but the first two selections they presented were awful), but they bent over backwards for us.  Including when our kids were being right foul gits.  We LOVED our meals, but have to say that the giant meatball was one of the best, and we tried several different dishes.  The steak was excellent, as well, though.

Our water glasses were always full, including the kids glasses, which had lids (so more effort for the server).  We did ask for the same server every time, but we had a different server for lunch and service was the same.

It was a bit spendy, but we're on vacation, and we eat well when we travel.

A good laugh is sunshine in the house, I once heard.  Cheryl and I met up and laughed by the pool to enjoy the Spring Sun at the Sheraton and mingle among the hotel guests.  The beautiful day actually tempted us to skip lunch and just take the rest of the day off.

We made our way to Twenty/20 through the lobby and sat with the light lunch time crowd outside on the patio surrounded with a westerly view of the ocean horizon and strawberry fields below and a gentle breeze.

The lunch menu prices are on the high side.  With tip, $36 was spent for lunch.  Her Chinese Chop Salad was okay, but my Baby Spinach and Goat Cheese (on the side) salad topped with a good size Salmon (seemingly about 8 ounces?) was pretty good.  I really enjoyed the complementing Warm Polenta Croutons.

I would come back for lunch as it's a great spot with great service, but spending $36 for lunch daily isn't good for the frugal minded.

Maybe they were feeling a bit overwhelmed by Restaurant Week....maybe it was the tail end of Restaurant Week and they were slacking...maybe the Basil Lemon Martini went to my head OR wait...maybe ...actually I've run out of excuses. Its just when some of my favorite Yelpers give it 5 stars...I wanted to like it. Peer pressure is a helluva drug.  But between our lukewarm Bouillabaisse, my overcooked pork, and my dining companions undercooked pork and chicken,  this was a total miss for me.  One of my friends actually felt sick the next day...I suspect his undercooked chicken may have been to blame. They managed to dry out pork belly....pork freakin' belly! Seriously, its like 50% fat.

Lest you think its just me (being the cranky curmudgeon I am when it comes to food and hype) not one but TWO chefs came out to field complaints from nearby tables during our meal...one bearing champagne apologies.

I did really like the comp Tapenade that was served with flat bead.  I'm sure you could just order that at the bar. The servers and bartender were both great. If I worked in the area, I'd probably hit this spot up for happy hour (or liquid lunch...w00t!). There were lots drinks that sounded delicious and the ambiance was très classe and well suited to this cranky curmudgeon.

What makes a great restaurant dining experience, in my book? The ambiance, the food, the service and the company. And, after the extremely memorable evening, hands down, it gets a 5-star rating.

Twenty/20 has the look and feel of a great restaurant. Nicely decorated, very spacious and not too dimly lit, it made a great setting for a wonderful night.

Bumping cocktail glasses, with Jojo, we hung out at the cute little bar, for some pre-dinner drinks. Our bar waitress wasn't really little Miss Sunshine, though. When we asked about happy hour, she replied with, "Yes, it's until 7pm." and, promptly walked away. "Excuse me!" I flagged her back to ask her WHAT were the actual specials, which happened to be half off appetizers and $2 off drinks. My Carlsbad Cosmo was a good choice, though a little pricey - almost $10 - at the HH price. When Jay and Melly Su made their appearance, they asked our waitress about the HH specials. We caught a little semi-eye rolling action. Interesting...

It really was not the start of a good first impression, but the HH wasn't the real reason we were here. We were looking forward to a Restaurant Week dining treat.

THANKFULLY, the overall restaurant experienced was saved by our dynamic and very entertaining server - Kambria. Friendly, informative and attentive - she was able to offer us suggestions that led to an enjoyable dinner. Noshing on lightly crisped calamari, as inspiration, in the end, my restaurant week choices were:

    - Walnut lamb lollipop and green apple couscous drizzle of pomegranate molasses
    - Twenty/20 Pork Trio: local Artisans sausage and rapini, tender slow Braised Belly on top of crispy corn bread, pan roasted tenderloin w/ red lentils with bourbon pan sauce
    - Dessert: a choice  of one Tapas dessert from their Sweet Tree

The lamb lollipop appetizer was absolutely delicious. The pomegranate molasses drizzle mingled very well with the medium and tender cooked lamb, a truly light balance of a hint of sweet, to accent its seasoning combo. This, I would order, again. The Trio of Pork, was, likewise, a good choice. My favorite was the braised belly, over the crusty cornbread. Melt in your mouth goodness, I love the added flavor the fat provided. Fat, in this case, isn't necessarily a bad thing. For dessert, between the four of us, we got a sampling. The best choice? Hazelnut creme brulee! It was heaven and pushed the limits of my already stretched stomach.

Extra kudos to Kambria for recommending our wine, from their very huge wine list. The Bordeaux blend Eponymous was a wonderful compliment to our dining choices. By far, she was the BEST SERVER EVER! Please give that woman a raise. She deserves it.

The restaurant week cost, along with the food experience, was definitely worth it. Combined with great company, time flew by fast. Definitely a great experience. Would I choose to eat here, again? In a heart beat - with Kambria as my server. I look forward for checking out Twenty/20, again, for a normal dining experience. Truth. ;o)

The most excellent service throughout the night from our lovely server Kambria alone deserves five stars!  If you go to Twenty/20, you should ask to sit in her section if you make reservations, she's a nutty crack up and we loved it!

Thanks to Restaurant Week, we trekked on up to North County and gave this place a try. Glad we did because the food was amazing.  I started off with the Korean barbecue beef and minted watermelon salad between bites of the fried calamari we ordered from the regular menu. Yum.  Between our appetizer and meal, we shared a bottle of red vino, great suggestion from our server since it was paired nicely with the swine we were about to devour.

Next up was our entree, the Twenty/20 pork trio which consisted of:  local artisan sausage and rapini tender slow braised belly and crispy corn bread pan roasted tenderloin and red lentils with bourbon pan sauce.  It.  Was. The.  Bomb.  The tapas style dessert from their sweet tree was a nice treat and closed out this wonderful meal on a very satisfying note.

Okay, now that I got the food out of the way, I'll write about the overall experience.  From start to finish, things were good with the exception of one rolling of the eyes witnessed by some of us when two others in our party ordered pre-dinner happy hour cocktails after we had already closed out our tab.  I'll dismiss that tiny bit of attitude because she caught herself doing it and redeemed herself by blowing some sunshine up our way before we got seated for our 6:30 dinner reservation.  The Carlsbad Cosmopolitan was worth it, but the thick orange slice floating in my martini glass got in the way between sips.

Not enough can be said about Kambria, I think she was a stand-up comic in her past life because she kept us entertained and happy throughout the evening.  Service from start to finish was great, I must have been really parched because I guzzled a lot of water between sips of my vino and refills came quickly and unnoticed.

Gosh, were we really there for four hours last night?  Time sure did fly when we were having fun.  If I was in the North County area more, I'd certainly hit up Twenty/20 again. We were informed of tapas night in which the cougars come out.  That I am not, but I heard the tapas were one of the best, so this fan will come back for that (and not the cougars). Rawr.
