Couldn't believe after ordering and waiting an almost 45 minute we still did not have any food and they finally came to tell us they were out of fresh crab but had some crab for salad. We were starve so we were ok with that. Then 15 more minutes and still no food or soup. They came to tell us they were out of seafood and did we want to order something else? What they couldn't tell us we we ordered that they were out or when they told us about the appetizer???? They were not that busy and we don't know how they could have taken that long to get to our ticket. We enjoyed the music and would have loved to stay longer but we were starved so we ended up leaving to go find some food. We missed out on some good music.

Hate to see the bad reviews on good ol Vik's! It's a dive and that's where the charm is, I don't think people quite get that all the time. To me, it's a great spot to grab a beer before/after your ferry and grab a small bite. I've only had drinks and appetizers there and was never disappointed. Fifth star for the floating patio on the water!

Cool little place at the waterfront right next to the ferry building. It has a laid back atmosphere, flat screen TVs (to catch sports games), and outdoor seating on a floating deck. Pretty awesome! Our bartender was really cool as well (I forgot her name). We ordered chicken nachos and it was yummy.
It's a cool little chill spot to drink, eat, & catch a game or two.

I usually just order drinks at Viks whenever the boyfriend and I visit his cousins in Vallejo, but I have ordered the calamari here before. Let's get down to it, shall we?

When we ordered the calamari I was at first a little disappointed because it came out way too salty. I usually feel bad if I have to send the food back, but it was to the point where you could not eat it. So instead of wasting money and not eating it, or eating it and possibly contributing to health problems we opted to let the awesome people here know. Pretty much they apologized and offered to make us a new batch because I guess it's not how they usually make it. The second batch came out perfect! Plus, they were super nice about it.

Now on to the fun stuff. I'm very much a Bloody Mary lover, but it has to be made extremely well for me to enjoy it. Sometimes if it's made ehhh, I'll drink it because alcohol is, well, expensive. Anyways, I ordered a Bloody Mary from the very chill bartender and asked if the Bloody Mary's [here] were good. Her response: "My Bloody Mary's are one of the best you'll have". Alright, I'll try it. I guess I can't really say it's THE BEST cause I've had some amazing ones - shout out to Lumberyard Rotisserie & Grill in Cannon Beach! - but it was up there. Very spicy, just the way I like but not overwhelming. Perfectly addictive, as I usually have at least three here. Awesome job Viks!

Plus the outside seating is really great and unique. The connecting platform floats enough to give you different sense of where you are but not too much where it would make you sick. Love stopping by Viks when I'm up north.

Went to Vik's Wheelhouse in Vallejo on a sunny Sunday afternoon with five of my buddies.  We were there for a couple of drinks and some appetizers. None of us had ever been to Vik's but all of us were curious as the place... from the outside screams with character. Vik's is basically two barges on the bay right next to the Vallejo Ferry Terminal. One Barge holds the bar and dining area, the other barge is for open air seating.  If the Owners of Vik's intended to take the perfect location and concept and then destroy it with execution...... mission accomplished.  We sat at  the only large table in the place.... A wagon wheel cover by a glass top. The dining area has an open bar with about 8 stools and about 8 tables. Chairs were uncomfortable, mismatched and looked like they were purchased from a warehouse of meeting hall furniture. Our table was covered with salt.... Several other tables where filled with dirty dishes (They reamined dirty during our 2 hour visit).  There is seating for another 20 guests outside. The place was about a third full ...which was a nightmare for the one and only employee.  A friendly, accomplished bartender who was doing her best in an environment that could have easily supported two additional staff members.  Realizing service would be limited at best, we blew the salt crystals off the table and walked up the bar and ordered our drinks.  Some of our drinks we carried back to our table... some the server brought to us. We ordered a couple of orders of fries, one shrimp cocktail and a seafood salad. ... It took the restaurant  50 minutes to get our simple order to our table. The Server apologized that the kitchen was backed up. I had to laugh... there were only three tables in the entire place with food orders and there was two people working in the kitchen.  The server brought us one napkin-silverware roll for the salad, one bottle of ketchup for the fries and nothing else... no napkins... nothing.... We all laughed.... having lived in Vallejo for over a decade... this unfortunately is more the local restaurant experience... than not. We walked up to the bar and ordered another drink. This round was delivered to our table as the server took our ketchup bottle for another table. Apparently the restaurant has only one. I've been in the restaurant business all of my life and I was amazed by this kitchen. A young man sat at a table next to us and ordered a sandwich. The place was close to empty. No other food orders.  It took 45 minutes to get the guy his sandwich and even then, the order was incorrect and had to be remade. The guy waited another 20 minutes for the replacement. I kept looking at the door... wondering if this restaurant went to the restaurant next door to get the food.... There was simply no reason for a kitchen to take this long.
It was time for us to leave... we had a few drinks... a few fries and some ketchup on our faces from the lack of napkins.... It was time to go!  I looked in the kitchen... concerned that perhaps one of the workers was in a comma.... No... two perfectly strong and clean young men..... the puzzle continued.
One of my buddies and I decided to split the check. We walked up to the bar and the Server gladly split the check into two to take two credit cards as she advised us that she applied an automatic gratuity. The approximately $30 gratuity must have been 20% as the overall charges where close to $150. I was in shock. The Server simply stated it was house policy. The Server was nice in nature and genuinely tried her best...... however to apply a full service gratuity to a party with limited and sloppy service was opportunistic and certainly not credible.
I look forward to the day when a new owner will get the place, equipped with the knowledge that good food, good service and a well maintained establishment earns loyal customers.  These two barges could be awesome.... and Vallejo deserves better.

Met a friend here for drinks before lunch. It was too windy to sit outside. We each ordered a Mexican import beer at $5 bucks apiece! The pregnant gal running the place was friendly. The bathroom was nice and clean.

This little bar on the waterway has lots of potential to be a great pub.
It just needs an owner with a vision.

Vik's keeps it simple.  Relaxing dining area with nice music and fantastic view of the waterfront and ferries.  Fish and chips are perfect every time.

I came in on a Saturday night with the gf to have a drink it was a bit crowded due to the live band present. We enjoyed what we were hearing the band play so we decided to find a table. We sat near the back and got our first round. Then this little girl sat down with us and started to color. This drunk women stumbled over and told us it was here daughter and her husband was the owner and asked us to watch her. My gf and I sat there starring at each other  with a what the heck mentality. since I'm a nice guy and wanted to be the responsible 21 year old that I am i decided to watch her since clearly he parent didn't seem interested and didn't want anything bad to happen to this girl. We ended up keeping the girl entertained for over an hour and a half while the mom mingled and sloppily danced around the place. I will never go back simply due to the fact that I'm worried I'm gonna spend another Saturday night being a babysitter.

Nice waterfront joint right behind the Front Room. The inside is small but cozy and when the weather is nice they have a ramp that goes down to dock outdoor seating. They have a good happy hour from 3-6 plus they give you free popcorn if you ask for it. The staff is friendly and attentive. Nothing spectacular, but probably one of the better places to hang out in Vallejo.

This place is my favorite tavern in Vallejo.  Great happy hour, free wi fi, and sports or music to enjoy, what's not to like.

The menu is not extensive, but with the tiny space this place occupies it's a great assortment.  The gumbo I had was wonderful, and I also liked their chicken tenders, and hamburgers with fries.

Being from Austin, where they have so many restaurants/bars with outdoor seating, it was great to see the outdoor deck that is available here.  Took a friend there for lunch and drinks.  We plan to meet there on several more occasions.

When the Giant's game was showing on the screen, they offered $3 beer pints through the end of the broadcast.  The bartender was very friendly and she also waited and bussed the tables, since she and the cook were the only staff during one of my visits.  They handled it well, even when it got busy.

It's inexcusable that this place isn't epic. Its obvious that the main reason that it isn't is that the owner is either cheap, or doesn't understand the fact that small details do, in fact, matter. (dirty unattractive menus, laughable hand-written signs in the windows, tack dry-erase specials board and all the lame free chotchky's that the liquor vendors give away adorning the walls)

It's obvious that Vik, or whomever the owner is, doesn't really have a cohesive vision for what s/he want this place to be.

Seriously man, invest a little money in some comfortable tables and chairs for the outdoor doc (hint, hint, IKEA can help!)
and really, get rid of all the garbage and the broken refrigerator out there! This space could be PACKED severall evenings/afternoons every week with the right combination of furniture, service, drink/food specials. It almost seems like it takes effort to do as poorly as they've done.

I'll admit that I haven't had any food there recently, the last time was a year or so ago, and it was average at best, and honestly, the two menu revisions since them really just aren't appealing enough for me to try again.

I hope that one day Vik or someone else figures out what their vision for the Wheelhouse really is, and applies it. This could(should) be a killer little spot.

went to this resteraunt to try out the Po Boy chicken sandwich as i too like to support the community. service was ok. Po Boy Chicken sandwich sucked!!!! i spent 10 dollars and some change for something i can make better. There was a whole lot of bones in the sandwich as if the cook just didnt care and threw whatever in the sandwich. Who does that? i will never go there again. i should have not ordered anything as when i first walked into the resteraunt there was nobody in the front and the cook was in the back making an omlet and didnt even acknowlege me. he looked at me and then just looked away. what a jerk! but i thought i would give it a chance.

Went here the other day, on a Sunday.  We love the atmosphere and location.  Ordered the fish & chips and fried calamari.  Both were good, also ordered two margaritas.  We like the location, the service and food, but it is overpriced.  The margaritas were $10 each and was not even top shelf tequila.  Fish and chips were $14.99 each.  Ended up being a pricey visit.  Would probably visit again but not to eat or have mixed drinks, just tap beer and enjoy the view.

Oh Vik's you had such potential. We watched as construction happened for months and work on the outdoor floating patio happened.. we waited for a new fun happenin' spot in Vallejo.. but apparently it hasn't showed up. .

So we went for an afternoon/evening walk and decided to stop in. We walk in the front door and were greeted by the bartender. The inside looks nice and clean but we want to sit on the outdoor patio since we haven't seen anything like this in Vallejo, so we get our drinks ($3 pints between 12noon-5pm M-F) and order 2 Po'Boys (shrimp and oyster $10.99/each). So we get out on the deck, there is food stuck in the chairs and the freaking outdoor floating patio is leaning wayyyyyyyy towards the right?! Are you kidding me? Am I going to sink while I eat? Strike 1 Viks.

So I'm a bit peeved but I'm praying the food is fantastic and just like Johnny's Po'Boys in New Orleans.. so a few minutes later.. the bartender brings out 2 finger print covered, smudgy, forest green plates with LITTLE BITTY sandwiches and an ass load of french fries. *Sigh* Strike 2 for Vik's..

I'm looking at my sandwich and my honey. Seriously we just paid $10.99 each for THAT? The sandwich is maybe the size of my iPhone plus another 2 inches.  Benefit of the doubt.. bigger isn't always better. Maybe it will taste fantastic and all will be redeemed? So I bite into it  (shrimp for me; oyster for him) and the coleslaw has some taste and the shrimp are good but not anything memorable. French Fries were great.. not soggy or too hard.. but seriously I didn't come for the freaking fries. Sorry Vik's strike 3 and you are out.

Oh and on another note. Vik's should highlight the fact that they have the outdoor floating patio; there is nothing else like it in Vallejo especially downtown. It could be a money maker if done right!!! They should level the damn thing out, clean it up, put out some fun umbrellas or place large wood posts in each of the four corners and string some lights and make it the focus point of the place. Get some cool band or something out there and have drink specials for the patio and make it a freaking floating feature point.

Amazing red beans and rice. Angel the cook does a great job and the gentleman behind the bar has a great smile. Only hope for a great future for this place.

Ordered Gumbo. Received 8 oz of broth; 2 (u-60) shrimp; some minced polish sausage and two small pieces of chicken all for $14.00 (incl tx). Was told by the staff "well that's what fits into the bowl". Stay away from this place.

this is a small Mexican Restaurant that sits right on the water. There are floor to ceiling windows on the side facing the river; this added ambiance makes it so much easier to sit inside and view the beautiful sunset with a glass of wine and good company.  The interior is a maritime theme, very nice.  It is simple and comfortable; a place where you can really relax after a tortuous day.

This is a young restaurant and there are many wrinkles to iron out.

the menu is limited but the food is really good; the chef will not cook your food until it is ordered (I really like that).  Which means, be prepared to sit for awhile and relax while your dinner is cooking.

there is seating on the dock (for lack of a better word), outside, very nice to have lunch or dinner outside in the summer.

I highly recommend visiting Vik's at least once, just to experience the friendly service provided by Vik's staff.

and that's all she wrote :)
