This review is from February 2013:
Precisely why I'm a Yelper. In the middle of nowhere (as far as I'm concerned) with no cue where to eat and my fellow Yelpers lead me to Villa's Mexican Grill.
By all means, order the Carne Asada Street Taco's. Compimentary chips and KILLER salsa. It's a young group that looks like they have fun and care for their customers.
Recently moved to Livingston. Even though I've been coming here since I was born, I have never noticed this place. It wasn't until I looked up restaurants in Yelp did I find out about it.
Nothing fancy here, it's an older building but its one of those "hole in the wall" places with pretty decent food. I've only been here once, but I plan on returning to try out the rest of their menu. I had the Fish Tacos with spicy green sauce, pretty good. My girlfriend had a steak/shrimp dish the she really liked. If there are games on, they'll probably have them on the couple of flat screens up on the walls. Service was great. Waitress (don't remember her name) was very helpful in explaining the menu, which consists of a lot of Spanish that I didn't know.
As far as Mexican restaurants its pretty good. They have plenty of space so if you go with a crowd they can usually seat you. Its not my favorite place in Livingston, but it is one of the better places. Environment is nice, and the service is very good. And, the food is good too. Their specials are typically pretty good too.
Review Source:Had lunch here yesterday. Ordered the enchilada special with green sauce and chicken. Green sauce was very tasty. Food came out fast considering they were in their lunch rush. They served a combination of flour and corn chips with a bean dip and fresh salsa. Great little place to eat in Livingston!
Review Source:Stopped here on the way back from camping and everything was amazing. They start with complementary chips (corn and flour) served with salsa and beans to dip in. The Diabla was super spicy, the Chili Colorado had all lean meat (my husband orders this at other places and it is often quite fatty but not a problem here), even the kids Chicken Strips were fresh and well seasoned not the typical frozen flavorless things you normally get on the kids meal at a Mexican restaurant. I would recommend to anyone.
Review Source:Villa's Mexican Grill is a nice little restaurant! I was quite surprised, having sampled the other offerings in the area (and being let down). The menu is quite large, and the friendly, recognizable staff are great. I had lunch here a couple of times, and the food was exactly what I ordered and very tasty. Restrooms were clean and stocked. Overall a little bit "worn" looking, but very reliable restaurant and probably the best lunch option if you're stuck in the area.
Side note: It looks sort of like it turns into a night-club after hours, and the building is connected to the car wash next door. Odd, but it never caused any troubles during my lunch.
First of all I'd like to thank my fellow Yelpers for rating this restaurant so highly. Â I also want to say my Yelp app worked well, and got me to this restaurant in a very timely manner! Our family's story begins with us returning from Yosemite and wanting to find a restaurant for lunch. Â We did not want fast food or a chain restaurant. Â I used my Yelp app and after seeing that this restaurant received 5 stars from all who reviewed it, we decided to give it a chance. Â The reviewers were right!!! Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and can I dare say - caring? Â This kind of service is rare and refreshing to find. Â Before we even ordered we had a yummy basket of not only corn chips BUT flour too. Â We also had a tasty salsa AND an addictive bean dip. For our meal we had the enchiladas, and fish tacos with both the garlic butter, and spicy lime sauce. My husband and I have been on the hunt for the best fish taco not only in the U.S. but also Mexico, and we have finally located it! Â The winner is the FISH TACO WITH THE SPICY LIME SAUCE! We've already told our friends that they can't make a trip to Yosemite without stopping at this restaurant.
Review Source:After frequenting Villa's on many occasions I must give it a 5 Stars! This place is great, food is delicioso and the service is right on! That dip just starts the meal just perfectly and anything you order is going to taste soooo good! I love the fact that the chef and staff is so friendly and caters to their customers, they are awesome, Go Villas!
Review Source:Love this place! My whole family does in fact. My brother tends not to come out to eat with the rest of us but he makes exceptions for Villa's because it is just that good. Went there tonight and still have not been disappointed. I do not even like fish but I love they're fish tacos! Service is always good and love how they know us every time. Or at least pretend they do which I still like. Highly recommend they're fish tacos with chile and lime. And they're  burrito supreme with chile verde. Yumm!
Review Source:Villas is by FAR the best Mexican food in town. Since it changed owners a couple years back, I make sure and stop here anytime I'm in the area. Everything on their menu is flavorful and I guarantee you will not leave hungry. The chips are warm and crispy, delicious salsa, and gREAT bean dip. All the traditional Mexican plates are very well prepared, but I enjoy the offerings here that not every other place has. Try the camarones enlimonados( shrimp in an excellent spicy and sour sauce!!!) or the same shrimp in tacos. They even have a chicken chipotle pasta thatis also excellent. Guzzle down your food with a michelada and I guarantee you will not be disappointed
Review Source:This restaurant gives La Morenita down the street some competition! Everything on the menu is excellent! The meat tastes fresh, the fajitas are great, and the free bean dip with chips is to die for! The prices are cheap and the service is excellent. Check this place out, it's hiding next to Speedee Car Wash across the street from Sam's.
